Holy crap I didn't even realize this was happening! Check this song out, it freaking rocks: https://soundcloud.com/officialinsideoutmusic/nightingale-on-stolen-wings
edit: Couldn't find a Swanö thread, even though I was sure there used to be one.
-
I tried to search for the old thread, but I couldn't find it. Weird, considering I posted in it just a month or two ago...
I'm waiting for my copy of Retribution to arrive and I also ordered the T-shirt from Swanö Merch. The two songs posted so far sound good and catchy, so I'm looking forward to hearing the album!
-
The album came out this week here, it's even on Spotify already. It's a nice album, a couple of really great tracks! Don't think it's as good as White Darkness, but nice stuff still.
-
Dan Swano is a metal fucking juggernaut. Anything he touches turns to gold.
-
Love it!

For the most part, yes. I'm looking forward to checking this one out.
-
Love the track! I didn't even know that Nightingale had a new album out, but I'll definitely check it out!
-
Nice album. I've realized I don't really care that much about the music as long as I can listen to Dan's beautiful voice. I think I have a man crush...
-
Dan Swano's got everything I love about Mikael Akerfeldt's clean vocals and Jonas Renkse's vocals in one. He's got Renkse's emotion with the power in voice like Akerfeldt's.

:bump:
I had the honor to interview Dan via email this week: https://www.musicalypse.net/witherscape-dan-swano-2016-english/
I've listened to the upcoming Witherscape album only once, but the first impression was very positive. You guys are in for a real treat in July! :metal
-
Nice interview ?, really enjoyed the tidbit about Moontower and Nightfall Overture vinyl in the works. And I had no idea Insomnium were doing a one-song album, so that's exciting too!
Really looking forward to The Northern Sanctuary. I think The Inheritance is a real masterwork in Swanö's amazing catalog.
He mentions the "epic" title track – how long is it?
-
Thanks for reading! :tup
The title-track is 13:44 on the promo. I might as well post all the track lengths:
1. Wake of Infinity - 4:38
2. In the Eyes of Idols - 3.58
3. Rapture Ballet - 4:25
4. The Examiner - 5:03
5. Marionette - 4:37
6. Divinity - 3:02
7. God of Ruin - 5:32
8. The Northern Sanctuary - 13:44
9. Vila I Frid 1:54
The album is more melodic than the debut and you can hear more of Dan's AOR influences in the music, but there's enough growling and death metal to distinguish it from Nightingale. It makes sense though, since in the interview Dan said he wrote the majority of the album.

New Witherscape? Awesome. I loved The Inheritance and can't wait for the new one.

Here's my review of the new Witherscape (https://www.musicalypse.net/2016-witherscape-the-northern-sanctuary-english/)
(spoiler: it kicks ass)

cool, can't wait for this one!

Nice review mate. I'm really excited about the more melodic direction.
-
Just listened to Wake of Infinity on YouTube. What a great track. Without the growls we'd be talking a classic. His growls are on the more melodic end and I can stomach them but it shouldn't be so hard work to like band. His clean voice is excellent.
-
The Northern Sanctuary is incredible! Easily as insta-classic as The Inheritance. The title track just blows everything away. Unbelievable. Gonna be playing this one til I get sick of it!
-
After a listen of this one, it's pretty great. I can see myself liking this one more than the first one. Some of Dan's growls on this are just monstrous!

pretty much the same here. One listen in for me and I thought this was really good. There is some tasty riffing on this album.
-
Marionette is fucking ridiculous. Some of the most amazing and powerful growls I've ever heard, and the atmosphere, wow!

Just so devastatingly beautiful and brutal!
