I'm riding in the car and Listening through DT albums. Done with ADTOE, and at BTV on DT12 right now. I would be listening chronologically, but Android music player sorts albums alphabetically, and I haven't bothered to figure out how to change it.

I don't know yet if I'm allowed to say since it's not quite yet on public record, but I work in criminal defense at the moment. But being a newbie, no, I didn't tackle something as huge as trying to get someone outta jail/prison.

I was just listening to the Happy Holidays version of The Count of Tuscany, and it strikes me how much better it is when they slow down the run into the big solo at 10 minutes. It just has so much more impact with the change of key. I got HUGE goosebumps. I wish the album version had it!

Well, remember Score was shot April 1st, and the DVD came out in August. Sure, it was the end of the tour then, but some information like a planned release timeframe would be cool. Mike would never tolerate this. :neverusethis:

I think that is the key. Not only was it the end of the tour, but it was the end of their record contract. They were as free and clear of duty and obligation as they have ever been. And MP was still in the band, and had nothing else to do. Of course it got done quickly.
I don't expect this one for at least a year.

It would actually make sense to announce/release it until after the tour is over since they are still doing the same show. It could turn people away from buying a ticket if they knew they could see it in HD blu ray and not shell out more money to go. I know I wouldnt be one of those, but I suspect that could be a reason.

I don't think Barry was "speculating" on a relapse by MP, just that behaviour of "poor me" is how he comes across, and that kind of behaviour can lead to self wallowing and self doubt, which are not good places for addicts to be.

To add to what Barry thought, I think a lot of people who have additions replace their addiction with something else in life like Religion or be a leader against say alcohol. They always go to the extreme with these because that's what they did when they ere having their problems. So mike is to the max with his passion and the media and can't stop himself.

You know, I think the problem isn't so much that he's passionate, or that he expresses how he feels about certain things. I think the problem is that he's always trying to paint himself as the victim. And that MIGHT have been the case if he had been fired, but no, he quit. Pure and simple. It doesn't matter how much he misses DT, because most of the fans won't sympathize with him. He left them of his own volition, and then he tried to come back when they already had everything locked and ready with MM. He can be as passionate about whatever as he wants to be, but MP, God bless him, has no right to act like a victim in this whole situation, ESPECIALLY not 4 years after the fact.

What he said about song arrangments being changed by the label seems to be common knowledge on DTF, but not other places. It's good they can clear things up for everybody.

Oh that particular part. Yeah. I really wish more interviewers asked about things relating to the classic albums, instead of constantly asking about the damn Grammy nomination.

Honestly I'm kind of sick of people asking about the special Awake setlist. I mean, guess it's for people who haven't read other interviews or because it's being published in the area of the concert, IDK. It gets annoying reading about it in every interview when I think 95% of people who are DT fans or concert attendees know already.

Yeah, but those kinds of things have always annoyed me. Every time there are these questions that somehow seem to be miraculously exactly the same as every other interviewer asks. It's as if they need filler and just lift them from the previous guy.

Well, if anything, a good journalist should read over other interviews for questions NOT to ask. That's what my friend did, before asking me to suggest questions for her, and if I may say so myself, hers was one of the most interesting interviews.

That's what should happen. There was an interview a while back where the interviewer was asking JP questions about communication with MP and stuff of the sort, and JP just sort of blew it off and said "I look forward". I'm sure you remember it...I'll find a link if not. That is a great example of questions the interviewer should just stay away from, because everyone has pretty much beaten him over the head with it.
What they need to be asking about is the Boston DVD :lol

I stumbled upon a video of the finals of a video game tournament in China of Hearthstone (Blizzard online card game like Magic the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh) and the music that was played in the background, during the giving out those big checks to the winners presentation, was The Count of Tuscany. I thought that was a rather interesting observation to find.

They do that quite a lot. I believe they also did it during a League of Legends championship and a StarCraft 2 championship. It's really cool. They only played a loop of the intro though.

Totally worth it! I took a quick look to see if the soundtrack was available, but I wasn't really expecting it for such a thing. I wonder if Jordan even remembers it, or still has a copy of the music?

So my buddy and I went out for a couple drinks and to play some pool last night, and they had one of those TouchTunes jukeboxes, and it had quite a few DT songs on it, so I ended up putting on Panic Attack, Metropolis, In The Presence of Enemies Pt 1, and The Glass Prison. Yeah, that jukebox was getting some odd looks, haha.

For the Italian-Americans like myself, it's more about Christmas Eve and the fish dinner. Christmas Day is just another excuse for a ridiculously huge meal.

An idea of what a classical menu would be here at my place
24th night
Starter marinated tuna/swordfish/salmon and some shrimps
Pasta: tonnarelli (a Roman fresh egg pasta) with tuna sauce
Main: sea bass in salt crust, or turbot in oven with roast potatoes
Dessert: pandoro, or panettone or any other local cake eg pastiera napoletana
wine: Vermentino di Gallura
25th lunch
Starter: fried battered vegetables (artichockes, zucchine, mushrooms, etc)
Tortellini or Passatelli in chicken broth
In some cases (another!) pasta dish, eg tagliatelle with ragout sauce
The above mentioned chicken with vegetables, or lambchops, or whatever other meat you prefer
Wine depends on main, but I would go for a Gewurztraminer from SüdTirol (or Alto Adige how we invaders call it)
Dessert as above
Then grappa or Amaro del Capo and / or Limoncello or Mirto
finally everyone enjoy a huge barrell of baking soda :omg:

My Mom's side of the family does our main meal on Christmas Eve, and it's always been our tradition to have a seafood-centered night.

Haha, a little cool thing I've just noticed. I bought Omnisphere the other day (a software synth) and DT used the preset "Vertigen Shake" as the intro to Bridges in the Sky.
Here's proof... the project I'm working on is higher tempo than BITS but you get the bigger picture.

Okay folks, shameless plug time. I really only leave my dedicated thread once a year to do this.
Tonight over at www.wpapu.com we're doing our year end wrap up special. Only playing music from 2014 and sharing our thoughts on last years music. It's always one of my favorite shows of the year, and if you're only going to check out the show once this would be the time to do it.
It's extended in time, so 5-9pm eastern time, 2-6pm west coast, and 10pm-2am UTC.

On an unrelated note, the lady who does the cleaning in my room dropped the external HD, which is now inaccessible. Most of the bootlegs are lost, even though they might not be beyond retriving, as the issue appears to be only mechanical. Yes, I'm pissed, but I'm also slightly hopeful.

I have considered just shutting this one down multiple times, but nostalgia has always stayed my hand.

So it's now official: in mid-June, we're moving from Queens to Hoboken. We'll no longer have a balcony, and therefore will have to rely on the community gas grills rather than our own charcoal grills. Which means 2-3 weeks of....GRILLING ORGY! In the past week, we've done:
-baby back ribs (Chinese char-su pork style)
-clams
-hot dogs covered with nacho toppings
-paella
-bahamian chicken
-the veggie side dishes for each of the above (romaine or asparagus)

The DT-Side Chat Thread has had a long and illustrious career going back to before the start of this incarnation of the forums. Sadly, however, it has lost its former luster over the last couple of years. Several of the forum members who carried it to its former glory are no longer active posters, and it has failed to catch on with newer members.
This is a sad day, but before I lock it and put it away forever, I will give people a day or two to do any last posting there.
