I did this poll twice before, first after BC&SL was released and we had 10 albums, and again after ADTOE came out and I omitted WDADU. This time, with twelve albums out, I figured it was time to revisit this idea and see how DT12 goes with its fellow even-numbered albums.
I'm going with the Evens side. While the Odds have Awake, SFAM and ADTOE, the strengths of IAW, SDOIT and DT12 are slightly stronger. I also would pick FII/8VM/BC&SL over WDADU/TOT/SC.

Easy choice for me. Evens. 3 of my top 4 DT albums (SDOIT, IAW, FII), and a bunch of other good stuff, even though BCASL and DT12 are lower albums for me.
Aside from SFAM and TOT, the odd albums would all be lower half of their discography for me though.

Odds for me, 4 strong albums, only 3 strong albums in the evens group.

Odds for me, despite the fact my #1 album is I&W. 8VM is my #5 too, but the rest of that group are all pretty weak for me and in the bottom half of their discography.
The odds have my #2, #3, #4 and #6 (TOT, ADTOE, Scenes, Awake) and WDADU is the only really weak album.

Odds. 8VM is my second favourite, but overall the first group is stronger.

Images and Words, Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence, Octavarium and Dream Theater actually form my entire top four, so I didn't have to spend much time thinking about this. Their most colourful and creatively fertile albums. BCSL and FII aren't amazing, but FII's got a lot of fantastic songs, and while BCSL is one of the more mediocre DT albums, that's like saying, "It's one of the duller sexual positions." You're still going to have a pretty good time.
My favourites of the odds are probably A Dramatic Turn of Events and Systematic Chaos - both phenomenal, but neither quite punch with the best of the evens. Awake, Scenes and Train of Thought are good, solid Dream Theater albums, and When Dream and Day Unite wants to be a good, solid Dream Theater album, too. It's a robust group, but nothing's good enough to make me think twice about picking the evens.

The grouping doesn't really make much sense to me but the first option. When Dream And Day Unite, Awake, and Scenes From A Memory are all in my top 5; while only Images And Words and Falling Into Infinity in the other group make it. The rest of the first option is one bad album(Train Of Thought), one not very good album(Systematic Chaos), and a damn good one(A Dramatic Turn Of Events).

Touch choice since I like the same number of albums from both option.
However - I went with the option with Octavarium - my favourite studio album & Images > Awake.

The second option, because it contains my favorite DT album (I&W) and only has one album that I don't particularly care for (8vm), although I am finally starting to warm up a bit to the album after revisiting it recently.

I dislike SC, but the rest of the albums in the first option are all great, so I have to vote for it.

I thought this was going to be a hard choice, then I did the numbers and realized it was easily odds for me. How about that.

Well, I thought about voting 'odd', because I am an odd character, and this is an odd poll. Then I thought about voting even, because it rhymes with Steven, and our Prime Minister is Steven Harper, but more importantly, Steven Colbert, amirite? Actually even more importantly is the 'even-Steven' Seinfeld episode.
Oh, I'm so confused. What should I do DTF?

I can squint and see the parallel somewhat....until I see SFAM in the place of TFF. It all falls apart at that point.

That. It has nothing to do with the albums themselves! Just the alternating of light/dark on the covers. It's a pretty convoluted comparison. :lol

Yeah, I suppose the same can be said about comparing odds and evens as well.

The odd grouping has my first and fourth favorite (SFaM and ADtoE) but the even grouping has my second, third, fifth, and sixth favorite (I&W, 8VM, SDoIT, and BC&SL) so I went with the evens.

My 1 and 3 are in the odds, my 2 and 4 are in the evens. Very tough, but I chose odds.

Option n.1 for me!
Awake, SFAM, TOT, SC and ADTOE are all very strong albums.
I&W and SDOIT are awesome. But FII, 8VM and BCSL are hit or miss, and DT12 is mediocre at best. Not a very difficult choice for me.
