So who is going?
My wife and I will be there. Excited for evening with, she had major issues with The Crimson Projeckt last year.
-
I will be going of course. Love the Fillmore.
Does anybody know why https://thefillmoredetroit.com/ hasn't announced the show yet? For some reason tickets aren't for sale on the site yet.
-
I have been wondering the same thing. Trying to get tickets, but nothing is up. Same with Chicago Theater.
Hopefully seeing them in Detroit, Chicago, and Milwaukee. That'll be the best weekend of my life
-
I got tickets during the presale. I didn't even know it was a presale. But alas, a lot of tickets have already been sold.
-
Hey guys, I messaged the Fillmore on Facebook regarding the tickets and here is the response:
"The show will be officially announced at the first of the year and then tickets will become available shortly after that. There is a fan club presale that is going on right now and you can get tickets from there if you are apart of the fan club."
That pretty much clears everything up!

What's the fan club presale? As far as I'm, there isn't an official Dream Theater fan club in the US. I couldn't find tickets for this show either; thanks for the good news. Hope I can still get my hands on a VIP ticket.
-
Does anyone have any information regarding this show? I still can't order the tickets on the DT site, and The Fillmore doesn't have DT on their site at all.
-
Still nothing yet.... :mehlin
-
Tickets are finally up!
-
So looking at the map layout, our tickets are across the aisle from one another.
These were bought during the presale, and Crowd Surge had a completely different layout than fillmore's page.
How do I go about selling them if they are will call pick up?
-
I am gonna try to make this one. Last year I had three people lined up to go with me and they all bailed at different times.
We'll see if I can wrangle together some misfits this time around.
-
Is there seriously no General Admission for this show?
Seems there is only seats...
-
I'm glad there's no GA. I don't get why anyone would like GA?!?
As for me, seats not next to the wife are unacceptable, bought two new tickets. 2nd row! Pumped, especially after last night's set.
-
I will be there for this one! Happened to be there last year as well. Looking forward to it!!
-
Assigned seating is completely terrible, but I can deal with it for DT. Gotta get my party together and get our tickets soon.

Sitting is boring as hell. No energy.
Going to end up with shit seats in the back now because I didn't sang tickets during presale...
-
But nobody will be sitting.
Don't wait so long next time?
-
I was there for the last show and while I appreciate to be able to sit down for a minute or 2 I wish they would have no seating in the lower parts. Regardless, I am looking forward to it!
-
I'll be there - my first DT show :)
-
I'm going to be at this show for sure. Don't have tickets yet, and there aren't any good ones left, but meh. Maybe something good will pop up the day of like last time.
-
Petrucci is doing a guitar clinic in Southfield before the concert. Completely fucking geeked out right now!!!
-
Well, my dad was gonna go to this with me but bailed. I went to the last two concerts by myself and don't wish to do it again.
Safe to say I won't be there this time. Have fun, guys.
-
It's tomorrow!
One last day of work for the week for me and I'm done!
Going to Southfield G/C tomorrow for the clinic/demonstration, coming back to Ann Arbor to pick up my wife, and then going to Detroit for the big rock show!!!
I've been counting down the days since December!
-
Still no tickets. Only shit that's available is balcony GA, which seems awfully weird.
Probably going to hold out until tomorrow and then just get whatever's available.
-
So pumped!!! I work in Detroit, and my office is literally like a couple blocks away from the Fillmore. Get off at 4, so I'll be hanging out down there all evening. Will be my 4th DT show. Can't even describe my excitement.
-
Whew, managed to get 3 seats in the mezzanine a few minutes ago. It was getting scary there for a while. Anyone feel like meeting up at Hockeytown before the show again? I'll be there with my Dad and girlfriend around 3:30-4 probably, so I'm sure we'll be fairly easy to spot.
-
Glad you got tickets, but why didn't you just get them a few months ago?
-
Lack of money, mostly. Also I missed out on the pre-sale and don't feel like paying for floor seats that are in the back of the venue.
-
Can't wait for the show! Took the day off so I don't have to rush (driving in from Grand Rapids). I think I have decent seats, we'll see. I thought my Transatlantic seats were going to be good but they ended up sucking (oversight on my part I'm sure).
-
Finally the day of.
Excited to see JP's clinic and the concert!!!
-
This is going to be a lot of fun tonight! Let's hope the weather changes so people waiting in line don't have to stand in the rain.
-
Got to meet JP at G/C.
Got a picture with him, but I don't know how to post it.
I told him he wrote the soundtrack to my life.
-
I hauled ass to get to Guitar Center by 1:00 (I teach in Flint until noon). I showed up just in time to not be able to see the stage, just the backs of everyone's head.
Luckily, I used to work at that store. The manager pulled me around the way Petrucci came, and I essentially got a VIP spot about 5 ft behind and off to the side of the stage. This is why you don't burn bridges when you quit your job. :metal
Of course I stuck around and got his autograph. The guy right in front of me asked "what do you wish fans would ask you more about?". So I said, whatever the answer was, that's what I was going to ask. Cool dude. Killer arms.
-
Just got back. Phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. I've been to a ton of shows at the Fillmore, and every single time the sound blows me away. So clear and rich. JP's solos just cut right through and leave you in awe. Everything about this show was excellent. What did everyone else think?
-
Yep, phenomenal as always. I managed to complete the circle by meeting Jordan after the show (and JP and JM and JLB but I've met them before). Was going to wait a few more minutes to see Mangini again, but I had already been waiting for 2 hours and it was fucking cold as fuck.
The added keyboard solo in The Mirror was a really nice touch, and the additions to Space Dye Vest were very cool as well. Seriously epic shit.

Major issues with Crimson ProJect?

Hey there guys. It really was a great night yesterday! Loved the show and everything around it. Took a few pictures which you can find on my blog here:

Had my ticket signed by everybody. Did you see that obnoxious drunk asshole back there? He kept on coming back.

Yes, she said they "crushed her soul".
So to review this concert, it was amazing. The best DT concert I have ever seen.
Meeting JP before hand was amazing, I had done the meet and greet in 2011 in Royal Oak, but this was way cooler, and it was free.
Got to Hockeytown Cafe and had dinner, and left there about 7:05.
Went to get in line, which should have been just a few minute process, and the line was like 3 blocks long for guys? I waited for a few minutes, and my wife called me. They wouldn't let her in with her camera. I had to go meet back up with her and take the camera back to the car in the parking garage adjacent to Hockeytown Cafe.
Went back to the line, which was even longer, and waited for 40 minutes in the cold rain. That sucked horribly.
Got in, got to our seats, which were awesome and waited.
I thought the intro video was cool, but the music was a little on the low side. I wear earplugs to concerts, and I could barely hear it.
Once the band kicked in with Enemy, the music volume was all good, although I thought JP was a little low in the mix, for the first time ever.
I liked The Shattered Fortress live, although I don't remember the keyboard solos going on forever in the cd version.
OtBoA was decent, but I've heard the song a million times, and have seen it live 3x now. I get that it's going to be a staple of live shows, and I like it, but I would have preferred something else from ADToE.
My wife love(s)d Along for the Ride live, and was the highlight of the concert for her. I thought it was great too.
BAI was sweet, my wife sang along to that one lol.
Enigma Machine was cool too even though I don't really like it, and I had heard JP play it once already yesterday. I liked the drum solo.
On to the meat and potatoes, the Awake tribute was amazing. Absolutely perfect.
I was most looking forward to Space Dye Vest and Illumination Theory.
The mood in the room for SDV was amazing, although I don't get why people were clapping on the beat in the beginning? If there's any song you shouldn't clap along to, it's SDV. Perfect performance of the song though, for sure. It gave me chills that were multiplying.
Illumination Theory SLLLLLLLLLLAYYYYYYYYYEDDDDDDDD.
Thomas, the video was amazing in person, even better than on YT.
Disappointed James didn't go for the high note in "salvation", but he sang so well the whole night.
Scenes tribute was amazing too, everything was golden.
I can remember practicing the first solo in 1928 1000's of times as a child, and learning about great phrasing from that solo. It was great to see it live.
During Finally Free, when Jordan does his solo at the beginning with the strings, the last bass note hit me so unbelievably hard, it was so powerful, did anyone else feel that the way I did? It was like no bass note I have ever felt before.
All in all, it was an amazing amazing day of Dream Theater, I couldn't have possibly asked for anything else to improve on the experience.
11/10.
Actually, 19/16.

Thank you so much mate! Indeed, you really get the most out of it by actually seeing it live with your own eyes/ears! The place was packed out and I had a blast watching people having a great time!

Was he older, balding with glasses?
-
just woke up from, the show... man that was fantastic, I can finally check off another thing on my bucket list... finally seeing Mangini live. this is the 4 time seeing them live... wow!

He was older, balding, but no glasses. He was heavier set man, completely blasted out of his mind. Approached all of us waiting for the guys to come out to sign our tickets, and just wouldn't shut the fuck up. He taunted JM as well, and was just being an overall nutcase. He finally hobbled away back into the bar.
