Okay, so who will be going? I will likely be getting my tickets on Thursday. My fiancee, friend, and I will be (hopefully) in the first or second row. I'm extremely pumped as my friend and I have aftershow passes from Jordan's PledgeMusic campaign. I hope to see some of you there!
-
I'll be there! Probably with a couple friends of mine, I can't wait, should be a great show!
Have you seen any gigs at the Palace Theatre before?
-
Nope! This will be my first one. I've heard the place is nice, and the photos look good. I just realized that this will be my first indoor DT concert (saw them at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls in 2010, at the now-a-soccer-field Trib Total Media Amphitheatre in Pittsburgh in 2011, and at Jacobs Pavilion in Cleveland in 2012).
I just secured my tickets for the seventh row, center :)

Nice, I was at the Trib Total Media show in 2011 as well!
Where did you get your tickets from? The venue website or elsewhere?
-
Yeah, I went ahead and bought right on the venue's site.
-
Okay, that's what I was planning on doing as well.
-
I snagged two tickets on the venue's site center 3rd row, not bad. Looks like a cool place.
-
I JUST BOUGHT MY TICKETS ONLINE! This is a great venue. I saw them here on their TOT tour. Reminds me of The Agora in cleveland (where I saw them for Octavarium) Great views every where. I am center orchestra. Hope to see you all there. Will eat at a bar somewhere off of main street.
-
Just bought two tickets for my brother and I. Balcony center, 2nd row. Hopefully we have good sight lines!

I was up there last time. You will love it! enjoy!

I will be most likely going to this show. Greensburg is only an hour from me so I'm definitely going to make it.
-
Where are some good parking spots around the theater? I'm okay with 5-10 minute walks

Good question. I never looked up parking. Anybody know?

I will be going to this show!
Flying in from Orlando FL! I will be picking up a rental car in Pittsburgh and drive to Greensburg. Hit me up if you want to carpool!

Its been a few years since I've seen a show there, but I seem to remember a couple parking garages and lots within a few blocks of the theater for parking. And I seem to remember them being free parking, either that or they were so cheap that I don't remember paying for them!
In general, I wouldn't worry about parking too much, in fact while typing this post I just checked the Palace Theatre's website and they have a nice little map and parking info here:
https://www.thepalacetheatre.org/directions.html
One thing thats nice about this show not being in downtown Pittsburgh is that parking will be much easier/cheaper!
Still need to get my tickets for this show, waiting to hear back from my buddy how many we need to get, but tickets are selling quick, balcony is the only thing left for the most part, so I'll probably be ordering my tickets soon either way just to make sure I get them before they sell out.
-
Well, I final heard back from my buddy so I knew how many tickets to get and good thing I did, there were only a few seats left! This is going to easily be a sold out show. When I picked up the two tickets I needed a few days ago, everything in the theater was sold out except for a few scattered seats in the back corners of the balcony. I'd guess there were only about 25-30 seats left in total and we still have over a month till the show!
Should be a fun one! I've seen a few shows at the Palace Theatre and there isn't a bad seat in the house, it's a really nice little venue. If anyone is interested in meeting up before the show, let me know. My buddy and I are probably going to do dinner and drinks before the show somewhere near the venue.

Great to hear (both that you got tickets and that there isn't a bad seat)! I'm so very excited for this show.

Finally got my tickets for this show! I had to hold off because of a possible union strike at my work, but now it looks like that wont happen!
Getting pumped for DT :metal
-
This show is coming up quick! Only 14 more days until April 2!
-
Yeah!! I can't wait!!!! :metal :metal :metal

Just checked the venue's website and there looks to be only a few seats left available with a week and a half left until the show. Looks like it will be a packed house!

Less than a week to go! I'll be meeting a couple non-DTFers at a restaurant/bar near the venue. Not sure where it will be until a day or so before (they are picking the place). If I find out, I'll pass the word along in case anyone wants to stop in too.

I'm coming to the gig with a friend and we will probably be eating/drinking near the venue before the show, so let me know where you guys end up deciding to go and we should be able to meet up.

Just checked the venue's website, there are 4 front row left side tickets for sale. These were NOT available when I ordered my tickets.
WTF????????? Very disappointing.

Ah, I hate when venues withhold tickets (presuming that is what happened). Still, the show looks to be otherwise sold out, which is awesome! Sure, it's not a humongous venue, but it really makes for a great atmosphere.

Oh I agree, its gonna be great! I would have bought those seats though had they been available.

Well, started concert day with some great news. My fiancée has a nasty bout of food poisoning :( If he doesn't feel better, which is unlikely at this point, I will be trying to sell a 7th row ticket for 40 bucks at the door.

Thanks, he just told me that he is feeling a lot better, so hopefully he can make it, but I'm not sure yet.

SO pumped for the show tonight! I'm heading straight to Greensburg after work to meet up with my buddy for dinner/drinks and then off to the show!!
:metal
-
Phew, everyone is feeling okay and we are about a half hour away from Greensburg! Going to eat somewhere, not sure yet. Should be awesome!

Getting ready to head out to the show in a few minutes. I'll post my thoughts tomorrow!

Great show last night! Here are my brief (or not so brief) thoughts:
Showed up at the Palace Theatre around 5:30, the great thing about the Palace is that its not in downtown Pittsburgh, its in a suburb of Pittsburgh called Greensburg which is, in all actuality, a good 30 minutes away from the actual city of Pittsburgh. The reason this is a great thing is because of parking. Because this venue is in a smaller town, there is free parking in a nice, big parking garage only a block away from the venue. Its been a few years since I've seen a show at the Palace and didn't remember the free, convenient parking from before, so that was a nice surprise.
I met up with my buddy and headed over to the venue to grab our tickets from Will Call. Once we had those in hand we went to a restaurant/bar that was literally right next door to the venue. Good food and good beer, super convenient location! We ate and drank our fill and then got in line, as it was around 7 o'clock and the doors were opening.
We headed inside, the staff at the venue were great about getting everyone in quickly and helping people find their seats. Our seats were up in the top balcony section. The Palace Theatre is set up like most theater-style venues with a first level and a balcony level above it. The place filled up nicely and by the time 8 o'clock rolled around, the balcony section was pretty packed, with only a hand full of empty seats here and there. I didn't have full view of the bottom level, but it looked packed as well and I believe the venue's website had indicated that there were no remaining seats, so it was pretty much a sold out show.
The band kicked on right at 8, led in by that fantastic video from Blob! They hammered straight through the usual set for the tour and everyone was in top form. This show was their 4th night in a row, but everyone in the band, JLB included, were fantastic. Highlights from the first set, for me, included ToT and BAI. All the songs were enjoyable, but those two were jaw-dropping live.
Then intermission hit, with the YouTube videos, which I loved, before entering into the Awake section of the show. I really enjoyed this group of songs, JLB sounded great on all these tunes. SDV worked really well in person, and the ending section was really nice. IT was insanely great, and then the SFAM encore killed as well.
Overall, the show was a great experience. James was in top form, sounding absolutely phenomenal. JP was amazing, every time I watch him play I am in disbelief of his skill and command of his instrument. JR was flawless, as usual and did a great job with SDV. JMX was solid and rocking all night and seemed to be really into it. MM was amazing to watch as well. I really appreciate some of his DT12 drum parts more after seeing them live and his work on MP's original drum parts was perfect. He stayed true to the parts, but still added his own flare. And for the record, his drum kit sounded great. The snare was nice and cutting, the kicks were full, the toms sounded big and the cymbals weren't harsh to the ears at all. Great drum sound at this show.
Which leads me to the end of this long, long post. The sound and production. The sound at the show, from my seat up in the balcony, was beautiful. The mix was good, there were a few things I could nit pick on, but overall, I could hear the parts I needed to hear, when I needed to hear them. Personally, I could have used a hair more kick drum and JMX, but overall the mix was good. The overall volume was also surprisingly comfortable. Again, I was up in the balcony, and I know from experience, the people on the first floor were probably getting a different perspective on the sound, but I didn't wear ear plugs and the volume was comfortable for me. At no point did I feel things were too loud and my ears aren't ringing today. But the volume was still big enough and full enough to lose yourself in the music, so it was great. The lighting on this tour, along with the stage design and video work is the best staging I have ever seen DT with. It simply was amazing.
Thats my story, I'm one happy guy, sorry this post became so long, but there was a lot to tell! Great show, great experience, great band! :tup

Thanks for the recap, Mikey! Sounds great.
-
Mikey, i agree with just about everything you said. It was an awesome show! My only complaint is that I really couldnt hear JM too well. I was really pumped to hear his riff section in TDOE, but it was barely audible to me. My son felt the same way. Maybe it was just our location. We were in the top right balcony section. Minor complaint though, I had an awesome time!
Highlights for me were TOT, SDV and JAMES's vocals on The Mirror and Lie. FUCKING awesome! He really sounded great to me!

I was in the top right balcony section as well, we were probably close to each other! Like I said, overall, the mix was enjoyable but I could have used a little more kick drum and JMX. So I would agree with you, but I actually was wondering if the balcony was just not getting as much of the entire low frequency portion of the mix the way the speakers were set up in that room. I have a feeling the first level might have had a fuller low end sound from the sound system, which would probably cause the kicks and JMX to stand out a little more.
Speaking of which, not only could I have used a little more of JMX's bass... I could have used a little more of his Taurus Bass Pedals too. I could hear when he would kick them on, but a little more of those in the mix would have been cool too. But, these are minor details overall it was a good mix that I did really enjoy!
-
Haha yea we were close! I was there with my wife and son, row k.
You are probably right about the lower level getting a more fuller sound. Doesnt matter I loved it! 3 hours just isnt enough!
-
Haha yeah, its crazy how quick those three hours flew by!!
-
This was my first DT show! My brother and I sat in row B in the balcony...I really liked the intimacy of the theatre. Some time this weekend I will upload some video clips. :tup

The second and third set of this show are available for download at dimeadozen. Unfortunately the taper accedentally left the recorder device on "pause" during the whole first set, and that part of the show is therefore missing.
Still, a good recording of a great show, enjoy!

I hate when that happens.
-
That was my constant and terrible fear both times I taped a DT show. Fortunately I managed to get complete recordings both times! :D
-
Been there - done that. Except in my case, it was a matter of the microphone jack being pulled out of the recorder, and that happened the very first time I ever tried to tape a DT show (2/2/00). Got about the first minute or two of the show, and that was it. :-[
-
Yup, Got busted at the 95 ACOS show because I was being anal about checking my recorder. Thank God there was another taper in the house!
-
Well, every time we tape it's an "experience" ;D
Last Jamuary in Florence I was standing directly in front of the camera emplyed for the video feed, and i was holding my device up high above the crowd (I use the internal mics that allow me to record two spacially different sources at once for a multichannel mix). Frtunately nobody noticed that weird big black thing with a red led gleaming superimposed on JLB's crotch on the bog screen :rollin
