Yeah, I saw that same video on soundwave picture->sound conversion a couple years back. Funny how they need that big/expensive machine to do it, but I'm sure somebody on the board has the equipment.

I'm trying to work with this a bit.. High Voltage?? First part works but then that middle thing looks more like TGD than PS but PS came first in the set.. Then I just randomly through the rest on :P (For the record I started doing this before I saw Nest777's post - promise :lol)

The length and soundwave coincides in every case, and it is based, as TheAtliator said, in the High Voltage 2011 setlist. IDK why it is in a different order :huh: As you can see, almost every track is not included in LALP.
I think that blank space may be from another night... or should I say... from another day? ;)

That's what I take it to be. I can't imagine Dream Theater would just release such a big show for free. I think Weymolith was actually trying to get us to guess this, since the wave files match exactly with the studio versions, when there would be differences in the live versions (plus the whole pic is obviously meant to tease, what with "Dream Theater Xmas Live 2013").
I just hope they release a DVD (or even a Bluray) of the video footage.

Short story: A long-time employee of the band. He ran MP.com up until a bit after Mike left DT, and got kind of a bad rap among some fans because Mike wanted the forum run a certain way, and Wey wasn't afraid to run it that way. He is one of the admins here because he helped me initially set up this place, and has been instrumental in helping me keep this place running smoothly behind the scenes. He is also a great friend, and is currently the band's Social Media Marketing Manager (apologies if I got the title somewhat wrong). He is also Debra's Significant Other.

I think you're right, except maybe CIAW was also replaced with something and one of those soundwaves are actually To Live Forever? Anyway, I'm happy I either helped you or partially beat you to it ;) good freakin job if you are right.
And I really hope we're right about this because this would mean almost every song from the ADTOE tour gets a release. And that would be freaking AWESOME. Only leaving out As I Am and the one-time Paradigm Shift and Court of the Crimson King I think.

Well, this doesn't directly address your specific question, but let me just say this: Keep in mind that no one from the band has said that this is a "Ytsejam release." Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. After seeing Weymolith's post, I think you are right. CIAW may be another track, and To Live Forever seems right to me. I know this is a long shot, but maybe the Crimson and LTE tracks are going to be part of a future "covers CD"? That would be amazing, too.

I only have one remark: of the 7 times that Learning To Live has been played in the dramatic tour, none was outside the encore, as you can readily check. So unless they messed up with the order, The Count Of Tuscany came before it!

I think they might have slightly switched up the order (like Peruvian skies appearing to be 3rd) because they are taking out Caught in a Web, OTBOA, and These Walls and possibly replacing them with different songs. maybe it makes it flow better.

I think just approx track length and the look of the wave. Like the way TGD fades in at the beginning and fades out at the end. Or TCOT drops out and gets quiet in the middle. Maybe Nest777 looked closer into it though. But yea, I thought it was already presumed that everything by Mangini has been with a click.

Wow, this is a dream tracklist, massively looking forward to hearing most of these songs. I could easily drop tracks off LALP to squeeze in UAGM (Mangini slays the chorus), Peruvian Skies, Endless Sacrifice or LTL. Looks like a big ass production. :metal

DT keep throwing me in a loop lately. I was so excited, screamed my lungs out and literally had tears in my eyes when they came back on stage and started playing Learning to Live at their show in Israel. Then I was disappointed as all hell when that song didn't make it to the show in Luna Park.
To think they actually chose *that* performance, the one I witnessed with my own eyes, and the one that nearly brought me to tears, as the first "official" performance of this song in quite some time...damn. We're mostly jewish here, and we don't celebrate Christmas, but this is truly the greatest Christmas present DT could give me :metal
*Then again, James kinda missed the mark on the F# in this performance (he hit it, but lost control while singing it). It was still awesome though :P

I have never used bit torrent to download anything and i was just wondering if its something that's hard to do or what exactly is required to get the files. Any help would be much appreciated, i definetly need to check this out on wednesday, thanks!
Download and install the free program called "uTorrent" from Google. Then, when the link is out, just press it and click "Open File" in your browser. Your browser will download a tiny file which essentially guides uTorrent on what exactly you want to download. Once you do that, uTorrent will open automatically, and all you need to do is press OK.
The default download destination of uTorrent is your Documents > Downloads folder.

Wow, well done. An amazing gift and a wonderful set list! I don't mind the patch-work show, either, as I am used to it with Rush (ESL, ASOH and DS all had various shows' songs mixed together for a single release). I love the care taken in to make sure each track was one that wasn't on LALP, and to ensure that we get a performance of each song from the tour!

Considering that "To Live Forever" is here from the same show, I would expect the King Crimson cover of "21st Century Schizoid Man" to be present at the end of this compilation. It would be nice to have "Paradigm Shift" as well, just for completion's sake, but were I able to choose, definitely the cover, especially since it was a one-off performance (as with TLF and AD, both of which are present on here). Hey guys, this is the first time i have been a part of the forum during xmas and i think its awesome that the guys are releasing the live material as an xmas gift to us. I have never used bit torrent to download anything and i was just wondering if its something that's hard to do or what exactly is required to get the files. Any help would be much appreciated, i definetly need to check this out on wednesday, thanks!
Download and install the free program called "uTorrent" from Google. Then, when the link is out, just press it and click "Open File" in your browser. Your browser will download a tiny file which essentially guides uTorrent on what exactly you want to download. Once you do that, uTorrent will open automatically, and all you need to do is press OK.
The default download destination of uTorrent is your Documents > Downloads folder.
Could somebody post the direct link. I am technologically incompetent so I am paranoid about going to the wrong place and getting a virus.

Considering that "To Live Forever" is here from the same show, I would expect the King Crimson cover of "21st Century Schizoid Man" to be present at the end of this compilation. It would be nice to have "Paradigm Shift" as well, just for completion's sake, but were I able to choose, definitely the cover, especially since it was a one-off performance (as with TLF and AD, both of which are present on here). I flew to Austin hoping to hear Beneath the Surface live, as it appeared to fall on a B set date. Didn't happen, and I was kinda bummed that it didn't work out. (caught BTS in San Diego)
Could not be happier that DT is spoiling the fans again. And the fact that four tracks appear from my miscalculated trip to Austin is such a bonus.
Believe it or not, Wey and Debra were in the row in front of me, so I knew this would be a special show in any event.

All I know is that it was the opening song in Israel. I believe it was the first song before ADTOE came out, then it was the encore (sometimes) when they started to open the show with Bridges in the Sky.

UAGM was the only intro ever used other than BITS, so I think that's why it's first even thoughts was the encore at that show. Also, when this comes out, is it going to be against the rules to post raw audience youtube links to these performances? And would it be wrong to make a home-made DVD using the videos on YouTube synced with the audio from this CD?

Good point! And instead of TTT, we have TLF. And there's also a TINY chance that, in addition to "Take The Time", we could possibly get "Don't Look Past Me" as well, which would mean between last tour and next, this band line-up will have played all the IAW-era songs (excluding ACOS, because that ended up changing later on, and not counting "Eve", even though it debuted on the IAW tour, was not written until after the IAW sessions, IIRC - I could be wrong on that...).

Short story: A long-time employee of the band. He ran MP.com up until a bit after Mike left DT, and got kind of a bad rap among some fans because Mike wanted the forum run a certain way, and Wey wasn't afraid to run it that way. He is one of the admins here because he helped me initially set up this place, and has been instrumental in helping me keep this place running smoothly behind the scenes. He is also a great friend, and is currently the band's Social Media Marketing Manager (apologies if I got the title somewhat wrong). He is also Debra's Significant Other.

I mean, okay, there's always the possibility that they've been planning this release for a while, and asked Syme to make a cover for it while he was working on the DT12 stuff. It will be available at 6:00am Eastern Standard Time and will continue to be available through AT LEAST mid-January....
It will be distributed via BitTorrent so once it's going, who knows how long it will go.
I have chosen a group of people (primarily members of Grateful Dreams Trading) to start downloading the torrent from me on Dec 23rd so there will be PLENTY of seeders once it goes live for the general public. There should be at least 50 seeders at that time so it will be a quick download.
The files are encoded in lossless FLAC. Tagged, with artwork!

Not sure how long it has been going on, but back in 2009, Mike Portnoy (who I believe did all the gifts up til then) released a video from the Progressive Nation tour entitled "Percussive Nation", a jam he did with the other drummers on the PN tour.

As someone who's only ever bought CDs and never downloaded anything; how complicated is the process - do you need to be a computer whiz to download and burn to CDs?
You will need torrent downloading software, I believe. Something like BitComet, just google it.
Unless I'm wrong, and somehow you don't need it... But that would be news to me.

I'm very enthusiastic about this, it's really great that the band realizes how welcome by many fans is to have a complete recollection of the songs performed in a tour, even sacrificing something (not much) sonically-wise. I hope this tradition might really carry on, and evolve, in the future! :tup
