Hey DTF,
It's been a ride. I've probably been here about 5 years, and I've gotten to know and love all the personalities here. It's been a blast getting to know everyone and seeing everyone's life move forward in different, unique ways.
My life is moving forward as well, and unfortunately, that means I have to say goodbye to DTF and internet shenanigans in general. I'm starting grad school and in order to do well, I'm going to have to devote as much time to it as I can muster. No more slacking off! I've seen the syllabi for these classes and they're not pretty. There is just not enough time left to give to DTF.
I love all you guys, shoot me an email/PM from time to time, would love to hear from you. I'll be sure to check in sometime.
Thanks for the fun memories! - Ħ
PEACE OUT
-
Hope you'll have great success on your way from now on. Keep lurking though.
-
Make sure to check in! Good luck! It was always great having you around.
-
Bets on how long until he comes back, anyone? I'm having my bookie run an over/under.
-
DTF is like Hotel California. You can check out any time you want, but you may never leave.

Truth.
But good luck Mr.Ħ! I'd say you're starting off on the right track by taking things seriously, I wish you all the best in school :tup
-
let's still do lunch sometime (in between classes or something)
-
Good luck dude.
-
:o
Well, I'm sad to see you go, but if you're gonna leave, wanting to do well in school is a pretty damn good reason to leave. I wish you the very best of luck with all of your goals, buddy.
And we'll be sure to leave the door unlocked in case you decide to come back for a visit.

I considered doing the same thing when I started Grad school, but knew I just didn't have the willpower to stay away.
Ħ, what are you studying in grad school?
-
Good luck on the next phase then!
However, since other people probably won't say it - I don't really get the point in "officially leaving" a forum like this. If you're really busy you will naturally spend less time browsing, posting, doing whatever it is a proper community member does here, but I don't really feel like there is ever much point in pre-emptively decide you're going to be so busy you are going to have to leave. If you've got any time where you're not doing work (and probably will, no matter how busy you think you'll be), there's no reason you can't spend a bit of that time checking on DTF or any other internet community / site you like. Or at least, no reason to officially rule that out as an option - if you end up spending your limited (and hence much more valuable!) free time doing better or more productive things then great! But I think (and based on what I've seen of other people claiming to leave forums / the internet) that's just something that happens naturally rather than something that happens when you suddenly decide to stop "cold turkey". I'm sure there are active members here who have commitments that keep them just as busy (not saying that you'll want / be able to do that, just that it's not automatically impossible because you've got a lot of work to do) but are very prominent members of the community here.
But that's just my own take on it, you will know better than anyone else what'll be most helpful for you. Good luck in your studies, and in case you actually do leave then it will be a shame not to have contributions from one of the more memorable posters.

I made it a tad over 6 months when I declared my independence from DTF and the internet. I'll give H until Sunday :lol

Speaking from personal experience, if you decide you want to leave a forum and devote your time and attention to more important things, making it official can be a good way of showing yourself that you're committed to whatever the more important stuff if.
Of course, it can also backfire. I once made a retirement post and the response I got was so touching that I ended up 'returning' the next day to thank everybody for their kind words, and then I just sort of went on posting. :lol

You will be missed!
It's a shame that you won't be around to introduce me to amazing songs in a roulette again. :'(
-
I disappeared at random times. I disappeared from the dt.net forums, then I disappeared from them again. Then I disappeared from this forum...and now I'm back. Shit happens and sometimes a break is inevitable.
-
Don't fuck up bro, stay clean. DTF is a hardcore drug, cold turky is tough.
-
Best of luck 'H'....really. Hope you achieve all you set out to achieve.
-
Don't bitch out. I posted in grad school, others have too.

You heard the man.
Thread over/

Like some of us before you, you may find that grad school need not consume your life entirely.
But whatever you decide, good luck to you H!

you can just like, post when you have time.
-
:lol Yeah, that^
-
I give 3 weeks. A month tops.

They called you H. But to me, you were always Shrine Gate. Best of luck!
-
It would take the efforts of the wonderful staff at "Quitters Inc" for someone in good standing to be able to permanently exit this site.
Just sayin'.
-
I did become pretty scarce when I was in grad school, but you'll be back!
-
Good luck man!
-
Lay off him guys! Studying to join a cult is hard work!
Seriously though, once they let you in you will have more time to post again!
Ok, serious for real...Work hard, do well, but come back for some levity from time to time. It will only help.
-
Good luck H (I don't know how to make the funky little gate thing). I greatly admire what you are trying to do with your education! I've generally enjoyed reading your posts so if you do find it necessary to stay away I'll miss your input. Now if it turns out that you can spare some time to engage here, please don't feel that your announcement in this thread commits you to silence in any way. I understand why you'd want to create this thread, but it can be a bit of a double-edged sword.
Best of luck.
-
Good luck Ħ!
-
Good luck in life brah!
-
Gonna miss you, Ħ....
-
It takes dedication and great strength of will to decide what needs to be cut in order to focus on what's important, and follow through on it. I admire your stance. Good luck!
And of course, come back when things have lightened up.
-
Good luck, buddy.
-
Viel Glück! :hat
-
Stay focused on your studies and best of luck to you. :)

Best of luck H.
