For starters, I offered (to Rich) to create a new Roulette tracker thread so that he is not solely responsible for updating the OP. This does not appoint me as 'Jingle.boy: Roulette cop', I'm just trying to help keep this OP updated. However, I will offer a few pointers and guidelines for everyone that I think should be acceptable to the masses.
First, some FAQs for noobs:
What is a roulette? The concept of a 'Roulette' was introduced by Orcus here (https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=15208.0), as a way for members to share music in a fun and game-like format.
What is the format of a Roulette? Organizers chose. The basic premise is to pick/invite some contestants, each submits one song per round, and the songs get ranked/scored by the organizer. Number of rounds (usually anywhere between 5 and 10), scoring scale, themes, limitations etc.. is at the organizer's discretion.
How do I sign up for one? Just ask. Rich or I will add you to the list.
Suggestions for Organizers: Be considerate of your participants, and those 'Up Next'.
1) Keep the pace moving at a reasonable pace. 1 week per round seems to be the usual expectation. Faster if you want to; slower if/when real life gets hectic - but let your participants know if that's the case. Don't expect your participants or those on the waiting list to be too thrilled if you're consistently running weeks or months between rounds.
2) There's no reason a complete competition should run longer than 2 months. If does, you're probably running too many rounds, too slow, or both. If you can't consistently commit a couple of hours a week to listen to the songs submitted, rank/score them, and write a couple of sentences on your thoughts, you're not ready to run a roulette.
3) Before it's your turn, try to have your participants lined up and ready to go.
4) Make it FUN!
Suggestions for Participants:
1) Be attentive. If you can't be at DTF to follow the competition every few days and submit songs in a timely manner, you're not ready to participate in a Roulette. Don't take 2 weeks to think of a song to submit. Be considerate of your organizer, fellow competitors, and those on the waiting list.
2) If/when the real world gets in the way, and you can't/won't be at DTF to check up on the competition (example - vacations), let your organizer know, and see if you can pre-submit some songs.
3) Have FUN!

To clarify, I think H actually still has another round to go. I know his original post said five rounds, but when he announced the results to round 4...

Good timing! Was just coming in here to suggest the next few people should be prepared. Elite just has to post final results; Lolz is within a couple of rounds of finishing, and I think Big Hath has 3 or 4 rounds to go as well. So, it would seem at within the next 2 weeks or so, the next three should be rolling.

It's customary to wait until someone actually has their final round of songs, and only has to post the final results. I think Lolz is doing one more round with just the final two after this?

I hear ya, I went through the same a while ago. Let this be a lesson to everyone... pace yourselves as participants. It's fun and all, but easy to burn out with too much of anything.
Rest up and do well with school
and then make a glorious comeback for my roulette!

I'm not burnt out yet, but I think Buddyhunter's roulette is the last one I'll participate in, at least for a while, because I feel like I'm sending everyone songs by the same bands and it might be good to get some fresh blood to take part in these games. I also have a feeling I'll be quite busy with school in the near future and I don't want to take the risk of slowing things down in anyone's roulette.

I would like to sign up for a new one. A kinder, gentler one where I don't kill anyone. Matter of fact, it will be the Euro games of roulettes. No one gets eliminated, and some of the scoring is secret so no one knows who is going to win until the end.

Haven't played one yet - if it's okay I'll wait til I read your intro , get an idea of your taste/what you're after and then join in if I think I can contribute. If it's mostly light prog rock/current popular bands you're after then that's really not my thing............melodic rock/melodic metal/prog metal with a focus on bands that have been around a while or were in 1980-2000 then yeah I might be of some sort of use :)
I'm probably more suited to a fogey's roulette :blush

Ok, I'll add you. Just doing a quick calculation though... on average if people take 2 months to run/complete a roulette, you're looking at almost a year before you (and I) are up.

Now I'll probably have to wait until September and that's when my next semester in school starts. Even then I could pull it off, but I'd rather devote my time to studying this time.

Well, the reason I hadn't signed up sooner is because I wanted to come up with a unique theme/game/system for it instead of just doing a "plain" roulette. But now I'm thinking that my first roulette will probably go a lot smoother if it isn't complicated.
In any case, it looks like I've got a long wait, plenty of time to potentially come up with something usable and change my mind.

Yeah, it's been about 4 years since CAD > USD. It hovered right around par for a long time, but for the last 2 years, we've been 5-10% cheaper.

Probably requires a reasonable amount of more tallying work, but I'd suggest listing the single-time roulette winners at the bottom, the same way that you guys do with the captioning thread so as not to take up too much vertical space. If nothing else, you'll be able to easily keep track of when people need to move up after having won their second roulette.

Hey Chad, if it comes to my turn in the next two months (November / December), can you move me down a few spots? I kinda want to do my Top 50 albums list before I start a roulette so the participants will know what they're dealing with, and I'm writing it right now and it's gonna be done in the late November, but it will take the time to post and all that. I think I'll be ready to run my own roulette around the beginning of 2015 as well, maybe a bit earlier or later.
All this applies if Laughingplace and Implode won't show up, of course.

Updated with seneca's victory. He's on quite the roll in the last few months.
Also, I'll leave people in the hiatus status for 6 months. If after that point they aren't ready/willing/able to re-start, probably best to just do a whole new roulette.

Yeah, most have been running at the 2 month pace, but some (looking straight at you Doc) aren't. At a normal pace, a roulette is about 2 months to run (average of 8 rounds, 1 week/round). That said, the waiting list is a year long. As such, perhaps we should open it up and run four at a time? Thoughts?
Also, I'm not going to be ready to run mine until at least Christmas-time. Scrop or Sacul, be ready to leap-frog me if I'm up before then.

See how it goes for a while with four, but having more running simultaneously is going to wear the contestants a bit thin I think.

Shouldn't be a problem for any of the roulette's I'm participating in, but I don't particularly want to start my own roulette and then have to put it on hold for two weeks right away (assuming DTVT even finishes his roulette by December).

Well, he still has one more round after this, so best case scenario is end of November. Two options: 1) Unless Scrop objects, Sacul starts next, and should be able to get at least 1/2 thru before January. Then we'll play it by ear depending on who gets done in December. 2) We start a fourth, and you fire things up right now. If you're not done by the time you have your vaca, we just have to wait a bit longer. It's not like we haven't waited 2 weeks for any of Doc's rounds ::)

Ok, so given the pace of the current crop, and Doc's final round will have him listening to nine 10+ minute songs, I'd say you go ahead Lucas. It would seem me, Scrop and 'dawg are in a bit of time crunch at the moment, and you're gonna be in one come January. Let's see how four at a time goes, and maybe that will be the new standard to try and get this backlog cleared out.

Yeah, that would be nice. Mason's roulette is still not over as far as I remember, stuck for more than a month on the last round; LaughingPlace56's roulette is on the last round too for nearly twenty days already, though he promised to end it soon I think.
I'm ready to begin next Monday, in case Scorp isn't ready or if some of the other roulettes will finish.
And yeah, I wonder what's up with Chad too.

My roulette is (FINALLY) done. Major delays due to work and school schedules prevented me from being timely, but it is all said and done.

I've been considering taking up the tracker thread myself for a few weeks now, and since no one else has stepped up...I got it. I'll tally up the wins and write the OP now, then I will make the new thread.
