Interesting that the leg will end here...

I'll definitely be there, although the date is Monday. Anyone else going? We could have a Finnish DTF gathering! :D

In addition to us two there's at least Ruba, Fisi and adastra. Kosmo is also a Finn, but he hasn't posted here in a while.

I'm not sure if the setlist will be special, but maybe the crew will come up with some funny end-of-the-tour prank - remember the Cookie Monster video from the last show of Progressive Nation 2009? :D

There's no need to be picky - both oldies and newbies are welcome to the meeting, since we'll all go to see the same gig and we're Finns :) There's 8 months until the gig, so there's still a lot of time to make plans. Anyway, it's cool that you'll get to meet the band! :tup I don't have enough money for luxury like that.

I'm glad I won't have to go to the army  Looks like I'll be the only one of us with hair in February :P

I'm crossing the Gulf of Finland for the show, this one's gonna be the anniversary of my country, so I'll definitely make it. The price seems OK, especially for the Evening With  :tup

Are u going to buy one?
I hope they don't get sold out too quickly :p  One more week until payday.
I'm pretty sure that it would be worth 200€ .
óh no!!! o.o  what should I ask them to sign ?!!?

I can't buy a meet&greet ticket yet because I don't know can I go there because of my army..  :-\

But if I get a "kuntoutusvapaa" (dunno what it is in English) or something else, I will probably buy it. Only bad thing is that I have to go to the seated place. The front row would be much better.

Anybody knows how long they are on sale, can I buy a VIP ticket week before the concert if they are not sold out yet?

I'm pretty sure they sell them as long as there are tickets .
I can't confirm that 100% .
I was thinking that if they really are doing "an evening with" , It would be nicer to sit the 3hour show rather than stand : :)

Looks like only the seats in E9 and F1 are available for 52,50€: https://www.lippupalvelu.fi/event/dream-theater-lippuja/115309?tm_link=tm_b_10001_3&language=fi-fi&minorCat=Dream+Theater

I have never been to the Ice Hall before, so can anyone tell if those seats totally suck? 72,50€ is way too much for me, but I want to get a decent place.

I have seen DT twice at Ice hall.
First time was Octavarium tour when i sat at C4 (if i remember correctly)  Those seats were great!
Last year i sat , I guess at C5 , which wasn't as good,  I couldnt see those screens at all.

I have seen DT twice too, in F5 and C5. They were good seats but now I would like to see them in the front row. It's more my thing. Athlete can stand 3 hours in a row ;)

You Ville will see the show, like the screens and lights really well but the main thing, members of DT are way too far away for me at least. But you will hear some music and see something too, so what the f*ck.

I saw Amorphis at Provinssirock last year and I was pretty far from the stage, but I could see the screen and the performance itself was awesome, so hopefully this DT show will be a similar experience.

Bumbing this thread after 5 months of complete silence  :P

I bought the tickets five months ago via DT's website. I picked the "Best available" seats and it gave me a seat from segment E7. I bought them because I obviously thought all the better ones were taken already. They were the "Best Available" after all.
Well, I checked out lippupalvelu.fi today, and it turns out that I can now buy pretty much any seat I want (expept the very nearest seated segments), even the "standing" ones in the field. I can't refund or exchange the ones I bought in the summer, so.... yeah... fail much?

But... I guess they won't be that bad... better than nothing right?

Yeah , well, based on the earlier posts the upper corner seats are pretty good as well (never been to a concert like this so I can't really tell  :P). You hear the music, which ofc is most important, see the screens and get the whole live show experience. It just would've been pretty cool to see the guys up close....   :P

Now it is certain. Got myself the 75 € (?correct?) ticket. Thanks Dad!  :tup, gotta repay it later. Now gotta find a place where to stay, luckily my aunt lives not too far away from Helsinki and there could be someone in Helsinki as well. Is the whole concert really seated? In 2009 the ground level in front of the stage wasn't.

Oh my, I'm really sorry to hear that, it must really suck.  :tdwn I'm glad I spent only one week there before going for the non-military service instead.

So, those of you who are coming anyway, is there any demand for the meet-up? I have the meet-and-greet and I have to be there for it at 17:15, but I have nothing before it except for an Italian lesson which I can easily skip if needed.

Just came back from the show. Really good one again! In the first two songs (The Enemy Inside and The Shattered Fortress) there was maybe a little bit of nervousness, but from On The Backs of Angels onwards it was very relaxed and flawless playing. Hopefully the band comes back soon, can't wait to hear it again.

Although this was my fifth DT show live, it was the first time I saw complete version of The Dance of Eternity. It was even more awesome than in the studio or live releases. And how easy it looked! One really has to salute the band members' professionalism and dedication to their craft. I also really liked the ending song Finally Free.

Pretty nice show!  M&G was great!
It was great to hear Dance Of Eternity live! First time for me too.
LaBrie had a good day. He sounded great! Petrucci took couple of shortcuts with some of solos...  I've never heard Petrucci/Rudess improvise this much when playing solos.... Don't know why it so, but many many many solos were played differently than on album.

Awesome show! On a train back to Oulu now. Flawless performance by Labrie. Great and surprising setlist too (space dye vest ! :heart  :heart  :heart). Gotta say I enjoyed the older song more live, though its usually the other way around with the studio albums. I agree that space dye vest and the dance of eternity were the higlights, enigma machine + drum solo was pretty fun too. And the encore.. Four songs! I thought at first that they were gonna play the usual metropolis pt.1, but soon realised it was from the scenes  ;). Btw Did mangini break a cymbal at the very end of finally free, i noticed a drum tech came to take it off  :D.

The seats I got werent so bad either, I think I would have got my ears blown off and my feet go numb if I would've been in the front, heck, my ears hurt even with earplugs on, almost in the farhtest corner of hall. I got there like 1,5 h early though, so I would've been on the very front if I had the field(?)tickets... I don't know if anyone of you saw me, but I had to turn back in the entrance and go change my crowdsurge tickets to the actual tickets in the box office, thank god I didn't have go all the way to the end of the line after that  :lol. Idk, i thought the box office would be inside the venue or something

Yeah, and this one has some parts that aren't even from The Enemy Inside, and it doesn't even have the whole song. :(

When it comes to the gig itself, oh my God how awesome it was. First of all, the Meet & Greet was great. Some awkwardness is guaranteed when meeting with your heroes, but seriously, these guys are so nice and they make it as comfortable as possible. I actually managed to have a decent conversation with Jordan, and after that everything else was a lot easier.  :D We also got to the merchandise area before anyone else, and really the coolest thing was to get to the venue before the others. We got some really nice places from the first row, and in my opinion it was really easy to stand there for the whole gig. So, if you're planning to do the Meet & Greet and are thinking whether to take a standing ticket or a seated place, I'd definitely recommend the standing option.  :tup

I knew the setlist very well in advance, so there weren't going to be any surprises. However, I was really happy with the songs and all the band members performed flawlessly, especially James was on fire. It was nice to see him altering some of the vocal lines in The Enemy Inside for example. Also I was really surprised how good the sound was on the field. I wore ear plugs as I always do, but nevertheless it felt like everything was really clear, almost as if they weren't even playing loud. Still you could feel all the power, so it was all good.  :metal

Obviously you couldn't really see all the video stuff from the first row, and I guess I would've been too excited to really concentrate on it anyway, so now I'm really hoping for a Bluray from this tour to really appreciate all that stuff.  Please guys, make it happen, this amazing show needs to be documented.  :hefdaddy

Both times I've been in the M&G, we've gone straight for the middle of the floor just in front of the mixing desk, while everyone else lines up right along the front barricade and gives us weird looks. :lol

Better mix, better volume, better view of the overall stage, not getting crushed (which we would have, because everyone rushed the stage as soon as DT came on). Take your pick!

Yeah... Makes sense. I'm not too fond of getting crushed by crowds either

Yeah, and the cool thing is that with the Meet & Greet VIP you're pretty much free to choose wherever you want to be for the show.  :tup

I'll post my own report
And here it is:

My friend and I had seats in F1, which was in the upper part of the venue - the sea of fists in the standing area looked pretty epic from there! The view to the stage was way better than I had expected, although the PA speakers partially blocked the screen much to our annoyment. As a result you couldn't see James' face when he was shown on the screen, and it was a bit hard to follow the animation during Enigma Machine. Speaking of the projections, the intro video was absolutely amazing :hefdaddy Great job, Blob! :tup The sound was pretty good and balanced - maybe the bass could've been a tad louder, but MM's drum sound was way better than on either of the albums he's played on.

The first set was pretty awesome (Trial of Tears and BAI - pure magic!), but afterwards it felt like a mere warm-up compared to the second set, which was absolute killer. The Awake portion was the highlight of the show for me and SDV is my favorite DT song, so hearing it was the most emotional moment. No manly tears were shed, but my heart was beating faster than during any other song! Having read threads for other shows, I knew James would sing the last part an octave higher and JP would play a solo, but I hadn't watched any live videos so I had no idea how it would turn out. The studio version is sacred to me, but the changes were acceptable and didn't ruin the feel of the song. The Mirror and Lie kicked ass, Lifting Shadows was a nice breather (I saw a lonely lighter in the crowd during this one :lol) and Scarred sounded majestic. I haven't been able to fully get into Illumination Theory on CD and I still find it disjointed, but hearing it live made me appreciate it more - the riffing in the first 2 movements rocked and Surrender, Trust & Passion was a great closure.

The SFAM encore was a cherry on the top of the delicious cake: Overture 1928 and Strange Deja Vu got people pumped up again, TDOE was a lot of fun and Finally Free was a beautiful ending to the show. The ragtime bit in TDOE was the moment my friend had waited for :D The lighting was pretty cool and matched the crazy nature of the song.

The whole band was in top form and the playing was really tight - static setlists are not so bad ;) James sounded great throughout the show, with the exception of the first half of Strange Deja Vu, where he was slightly off-key at times. Also, JP was definitely singing on most songs, not just lip-syncing! Of course there were some piped-in parts like in The Mirror, but for the most part it was live. BTW, can anyone who was closer to the stage tell if people were actually singing along to the choir part in OTBOA? I thought it was the audience, although it might've been just a keyboard patch.

All in all, this was an evening to remember and probably the best concert I've ever attended. I really want to see DT again, although I'm worried they won't be able to live up to the ridiculously high standard set by this show.

We know, Bosk.  You prefer to believe that JP was singing along into an inaudible mic while a recording of JLB's voice singing the exact same line JP was (silently) singing played at the same time.  We know.

Wow, I can't believe Helsingin Sanomat let a worthless "review" like this be published: https://www.hs.fi/arviot/Konsertti/Arvio+Dream+Theaterin+progemetalli+soi+yksitoikkoisesti/a1393300125175

Not gonna translate it, at least right now, but the fact that the writer left during the intermission and the photo is from the 2012 show should say something about the amount of effort and time put into it  Seriously, The Guardian's review looks like a piece of art compared to this.

WTF did I just read? The "reviewer" obviously hates metal music in general, so perhaps somebody else could have written the review? Now the writer and the newspaper just make themselves look stupid.

Hey guys, I'm back in Estonia and I'd also like to share my experience  :)

Second time for me seeing DT, last time was Progressive Nation 09. This time, double the DT and seeing MM for the first time! Awesome. I had a standing ticket but the closest I got to was like maybe the 3rd row quite close to JMX. Jordan and JLB came to stage left (our side) sometimes so I managed to get some eye contact with them. I sang along a lot of the time, probably off-key but I don't care, I also tried to do a lot of whoah-whoahs during some of the JP or JR leads. After the show I got eye contact with MM, I think he liked my tie and jacket  :tup

The band was very solid and tight. I'd say that JLB and MM were the highlights for me if I have to single anyone out. JLB just so rock-solid, hitting some powerful notes and cracking a good joke about the Olympics! (anybody heard what MM said?) and MM pounding it and I just love his rapid wrist movement on that ride! He's enhancing so many of MP's parts. Setlist was great, I'd have liked to see STR, TBP and BTV but all the DTDT songs sounded great, energised and just made sense. As did the other songs of course! Some of the highlights for me:

FAS, TEI, EM (and MM's very cool solo!), TOT, BAI, IT, basically all the Awake and SFAM songs. There is little I'd change about the setlist.

Also, the video screen rocked! Blob, your animations freaking rule, as did a lot of the others. I also enjoyed the hell out of the intermission clips  :metal

BTW, there were a couple of guys in front of me, they were shivering and very near to collapsing on their feet. I just looked at them and listened to them saying "if we go away from here to rest a bit, we won't make it back here". Haha, poor guys, but they soldiered out  :tup

According to someone on another forum he said something about Tuukka Rask. Maybe he was bitter about USA's defeat :D

Oh yeah, it's actually a parody of John Patitucci :D He's a bassist, though.
