Hello, fellow DTFers.
About 3 months ago I started working on making my own music, just for doing something fun. My first idea was to make one album for each season of the year, spring, summer, autumn and winter, and make all different from each other, both musically and different influences, etc. Anyhow, I released my first album a few weeks ago, which is the Spring-album. I'm currently working on the Summer-album, which is progressing very nicely, and should be out in June-July, depending on when I get happy with it. Most of the songs are already done.
But to get back to the album I already have out, it's called Bright Lights and has 6 songs on it. About 30 minutes of running time, and it's mainly a mixture of Post-Rock and Ambient, and my idea is that all the upcoming albums will have slightly different sounds and influences on them, but all be around the 30 minute mark with 6 songs.
1. Beach Party 04:44
2. Paris in the Spring 05:00
3. Efflorescence 02:36
4. Summer Nights 04:40
5. Waves 02:32
6. Bright Lights 09:16
The name for the project comes from a song by the band Amplifier, both because it's an amazing song, but also because I felt it had that atmosphere I was going for with the music.
Check it out here: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/ (you can also download it free from here, if you prefer listening on the computer)
Cheers! :)

Cool stuff, I can definitely hear the spring vibe! :tup The name of the project is pretty similar to a Finnish pop group called Pariisin Kevät (Spring of Paris) but I can already say that your music is more pleasant for my ears than that band :P
-
Haha awesome, glad you enjoyed it. :)
-
I feel like you should pull back the drums presence a bit and let the guitar take the lead. I'm liking it though :tup
-
I appreciate the tips. :)

Update since I finished my second album:

03. Campfire Stories (3:33)
04. I Sat by the Ocean (2:19)
05. Sunset Paradise (3:41)

Another bump!
Just uploaded my third album on bandcamp.
Into the Forest
(https://f0.bcbits.com/img/a2190740830_2.jpg)
01. Falling Leaves (3:54)
02. Paris in the Fall (4:58)
03. March of the Goblins (3:40)
04. Pumpkin Harvest (4:06)

06. Into the Forest (9:24)
This one is more orchestral, classical and minimalistic than the previous albums. So a different vibe, but I think the "core" in the sound is still there. :)
-
So I wasn't really that sold on the first two albums, but this one is right up my alley. Great job!
-
Thought I would update:
Okay, so the fourth and final album for this concept is out now, just uploaded it: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/fade-into-oblivion (https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/fade-into-oblivion)
I would say probably the most diverse one so far. There's drone, noise, some post-rock, some electronic stuff (both more ambient and something similar to Necro Deathmort for example) and METAL. Basically something for everyone. There's a lot of guitar feedback as well, one of my main ideas for the album was having just that, so I'm glad the way the opening track and the title-track ended up.
Fade Into Oblivion
(https://f0.bcbits.com/img/a0208705198_2.jpg)
01. Throat of the World (6:00)
02. Paris in the Winter (5:03)
03. Arctic Winds (3:51)

This topic needs more views! Awesome stuff as always, sir.
-
Thanks man! :D
-
Jimmy you should have waited a week or so, so that this album could be on my top 2014 AOTY lol
-
Okay so I just released a new album. I would say this one is a mix between Post-Rock and Ambient, pretty calm and mellow overall. Check it out if it sounds interesting: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/time-will-fade-away

In case anyone is interested and still following, I just released my first live album. It's essentially a semi-live album recorded in my bedroom, with myself playing guitars and keyboards/piano/synthesizers, but some things like bass, drums and so on still being pre-set. Anyhow, check it out at: https://parisinthespring.bandcamp.com/album/live-in-the-bedroom

Alright so after working hard at it for quite some time now, my music is finally available on Spotify. Either search for Paris in the Spring, or follow this link: https://open.spotify.com/artist/12PsXI5kUJtmW6CZdI9pt5
Hopefully it makes the listening easier for some of you :)

It should also be going up on Spotify within a few weeks, but it's not up there yet.
Thanks :)

Just a little update. Today I just released my seventh album, called "The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire", a 2 hour double album. It's essentially an ambient/drone album in the spirit of Stars of the Lid, mainly focusing on minimalism. I'm also working on new material that will be more in the spirit of progressive rock, but more on that later.

-
Listening now!
btw there's a Rammstein song with the same title as your project.
-
He, not quite metty. It actually translates to Spring in Paris, but yeah, it's close.
Also, I've said it before, but I really love Into the Forest. Soooo good. :tup
-
I know my music might not be everyone's cup of tea around here, but the new material I have started working on so far has a little bit more of a prog feel. I'm aiming to make a progressive rock album next, with maybe some elements of jazz. We'll see how it progresses, but if it turns out the way I want it to, it might be more interesting for some people here. :)
-
If you ever want me on guitar on any of your tracks, hit me up :tup
for that progressive rock album I mean ;D
-
Time for a new album bump!
This time it's not ambient, but I went back to my signature sound, I feel like this album has more of a metal (and maybe even prog) edge to it, and the result is:

have a nice day,
/cheers
or wait a week or two and it will pop up on the Spotify :>
-
Awesome album. I've had a few listens and I really like the atmosphere, the themes and the instrumentation. Probably my favourite of your albums - Into the Forest and Fade Into Oblivion are the only ones that really come close imo.
Keep up the good work!
-
Thanks man! :D Nice to hear some appreciation! I feel like this album is another step closer into doing a 100% prog rock album, something I would love to do.
-
Just don't get to noodly, ya hear me? :P
-
I don't think there's any risk for that.
-
Paris is Burning is my new 5 song EP, and possibly the final release under this moniker. I have been toying around with different software lately and been creating some music with a totally different feel to it, and moving forward my focus will be on a brand new project (as of now untitled) where I will be putting out releases. It also feels like a good time to close the book on PITS, maybe not permanently, but at least for the foreseeable future.
Paris is Burning follows in the footsteps of another album I made called "The Stars in the Sky are Distant Cities on Fire", and the ~20 minute EP consists of Ambient/Drone music.

(going up on Youtube shortly and Spotify in a week or two)
It's pretty much a straight up ambient album, so very minimalist and probably decent music while you're vacuuming or doing other things. :)
-
Really enjoying this a lot. For some reason I find it more accessible and evocative than your other purely ambient albums. Not sure if it's a change in your process or something else, but this one feels warmer and more like it has a "human touch". Definitely more of an experiential vibe to this one, I like it a lot.
-
That's good praise! :) It was fun to make and the next one will most likely try to improve upon this release.
-
Time for an update! I realized I didn't post about my last album here, but today I'm releasing a new album!

This was great, dude. Very pleasant listen from start to finish.
-
Thanks man :D
-
I just listened to your first album and I'm loving it. Will keep listening and see what other awesome stuff you have here. By the way, if you keep up realeasing music at this rate you'll beat frank zappa soon :P
-
Three albums in and I seriously think you might be the best artist I've discovered this year, I'm really loving what I'm hearing from you because first and foremost, it's beautiful music which is the most important thing to me, but also because you explore such a wide range of styles, sounds and noises and you make it all fit together very nicely.
-
Aww thanks man :D appreciate the kind words!
-

It's been a slow year both because of the pandemic but also on a personal level I've been through the turmoil of losing a job, the depression that followed and then getting a new job and trying to find a balance of using my time well. Hopefully in 2022 I can make more music at a better pace. :)
-
Jeez, where have I been the last decade? :(
This is excellent stuff, my man. I’ve been listening for the last hour, and I’m pretty blown away.
Love that you’ve been so prolific (I’ve battled debilitating self doubt for years)
I just followed you on Bandcamp and plan to listen more.
Thanks so much for sharing!

I loosely call this the green album but it's intended as the first in a new series of albums, in the spirit of my first 4 albums (6 songs/30 mins each) but instead of doing the theme with different seasons of the year, this will be more of a basic 'every album is represented by a color and a different style' sort of deal. This album made me embrace that sort of 80s synthwave style that I've been a fan of for a while but never quite explored. A band like M83 or an artist like Tycho kinda inspired me. :)
-
Hey all! Happy easter and I hope you will all have a great holiday.
Just released my new album called Orion, sort of a follow up to my last album Andromeda but while it has some thematic connections it's very much a different beast.
Andromeda was very synth pop influenced and I drew from bands and artists like M83, Grimes and Tycho (among others) but for this new one Orion I took things in a bit of a metal direction.
I listened to a lot of Megadeth, Anthrax, Vektor, Strapping Young Lad (and Devin) and Slayer (among others) and while this isn't pure 100% thrash metal it's definitely bringing some metal elements into the mix.
Anyway check it out if you're curious. :)

Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDXBoqGs8j4&list=PL1FLPNJ3zoVk8vJVlJxzppZ-swwcg82QW&ab_channel=ParisintheSpring

Pretty cool :metal Love it so far
