I hate voting for Bloom...it's one of the most original things they've ever done. But *sigh*, it really is my least favorite of what's left.

Meh...the guitar riffs are awesome but the vocals are just Mike Patton worship. Not a fan.

I really like Bloom, but it's clearly my least favourite now that the "interlude" tracks are gone.
-
I really probably need a relisten to determine this one again
though I feel I'm likely to rejoin the extremeophile vote

I love Extremeophile. I really hope it doesn't go out early.
At least hopefully not before Melting City or Bloom.

One of the reasons that I'm loving BTBAM more and more is that the vocals are becoming more dynamic. Even on Alaska and Colors, I felt that the vocals were a bit lopsided in favor of cookie monster. I used to LOVE death metal vocals....but over time, I found them to be monotonous and monotone. The more recent BTBAM album have been much closer to 50/50 between death and clean vocals...and Bloom just added a much needed third dimension to the vocals. I hope they keep going in this direction. I would love to see a BTBAM album with only about 25% death vocals, 50% clean vocals, and 25% "Patton-style" vocal experimentation. (I am a HUGE Patton fan BTW)

Wow, I didn't think anybody would prefer EE over Melting City, but apparently I was wrong. Melting city seems to be fairly low on many people's lists, which kinda makes me sad, since it's one of my favourites from the album
Extremophile Elite on the other hand I could definitely live without

Yeah, I tend to have weird
terrible opinions WRT Between the Buried and Me.
I just listened to the album again after a long hiatus and EE was not as good as I recalled and MC was not as bleh so I really don't know anymore. Either one could go and I probably wouldn't care, but that applies to about 60% of the album overall. :)

I really fell in love with the album when it came out, so I revisited it this morning in order to be a little more familiar with it again for this survivor. And to be honest, it didn't really blow me away as it used to. Still a really good and solid album with some great standout tracks (for me, Melting City is one of them), but I might have listened to it too much a coupe of months ago.

Imo the album gets pretty boring after Telos besides the last few minutes of SFP.

What about the "Why did I keep this?"part? That's what makes Melting City an amazing song instead of a great one IMO.
