Title: Do I lose signal by linking 2 mic cables together?

I play keyboards and sing in my band. When I'm not playing I like to come out front to sing, so in order to have enough cable, I hook 2 20' cables together. Our soundguy tells me that my vocals have much less volume than the other guys, and I use a Shure sm58. Could the cables be my problem?

Whenever you deal with another connection point, it increases the odds of signal degradation, but I seriously doubt it could impact the volume level enough to make a noticeable difference.   What other mic's are the other guys using?  Have you checked the volume level with both cables individually to rule out a faulty cable?
