Yeah, let's talk about some manly stuff!
What kind of cars do you guys own/drive?
What's important when you are choosing a car? Price? Low consumption? Safety?
I've had 3 cars so far;
1996 Citroen Xantia 1.6i ("Great" French car :D)
1998 Mitsubishi Galant 2.5l V6
Currently I have 1997 Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 2.5l V6 TwinTurbo AWD
-
2011 Hyundai Sonata (hybrid).
2002 Honda Odyssey. Was the 'family' vehicle when the kids were young. Now the Sonata is the primary vehicle.
-
on my 3rd windstar....have 3 kids need the room
-
I just bought a 98 Toyota Corolla and I absolutely love it. Its reliable, and fantastic on gas.
I also own a 92 RS Camaro, but rarely ever drive it since its so bad on gas. These days I'm all about economy.
-
2013 MINI. Just picked it up Saturday
(https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/10280_10152217595920111_1379501915_n.jpg)
6spd of course
(https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/559365_10152219036270111_1734515872_n.jpg)
As for what's important...
- gas mileage
- funky
- ladies

Not a pic of my exact car, but that's the model and color. I got 2 Dark Castle stickers, a Stolen Babies sticker, and a Jimmy Johns sticker on the back. Pretty tight.
-
a purple 1993 pontiac bonneville
and a green bicycle.
-
I've had way too many cars to remember all of them.
Right now I drive the best car there is: FREE Company Issued Car w/ Gas and Maintenance Card :hat
It's a 2009 Toyota Camry, but when the lease is up next year I'll probably be getting a 2013 Nissan Maxima
We get new cars at my company every three years.
-
I drive an 01 Saturn SL2 5 speed.
It's not my dream car, but it's paid off so I'm able to put money in savings. To me a car has to be one that i enjoy driving. I had a 98 Chevy Malibu for a while and I hated it. It was (for my taste) too big of a car and it had some issues (it went through tires and the radio didn't work too well). Gas mileage also was a problem.
-
2005 Toyota Camry. I got it used a few years ago, but I live close to my job and I don't have a life so I could probably drive that sucker for fifteen more years if I had to.
-
After having a '99 Honda Accord for over 10 years, I got an '09 Honda Civic back in July. Only had 23K miles on it when I got it, so I am hoping for another 10 years out of a Honda. :coolio
-
2007 BMW 328i
-
Cars I have owned:
1992 Toyota Camry (my grandfather gave this basically brand new car to me when I turned 16, just before he died. I'll never forget this one. My granddad was awesome.)
1993 Geo Prizm (wife's car when we got married)
2001 VW Passat
2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid (current)
2012 Lexus IS250 (current)
-
I've only had one car, it was a 1990 Volkswagen Passat. I sold it about a year ago though.
-
Hey, this ain't just a guy's topic now. :P
I have owned...
1964 Chevy Impala (aka boat of car)
1987 Toyota truck (which got totaled in November of 1996 :'( )
1996 Ford Escort (got the engine replaced in 2004, almost completely died on me in late 2007)
I've owned my current ride since late November 2007, which is a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser. I love it - probably the most dependable ride I've owned since the truck.
-
I've only had two.
2002 Ford Taurus
2012 Subaru Impreza hatchback
-
hmm...let me see...
99 Sunfire...not a bad little car.
2002 Grand AM GT, loaded leather the works..and usually a "good" brand of GM car. Ours was absolute lemon.
Currently, Mrs. Spider drives an 08' Trailblazer (pretty good truck - no problems)
And I am in a loaded Mazda 3 gt sport, hatch.

I loved my mazda3 hatch. I bought it with 42k miles on it. It gave me very little problems in the 85k miles I added to it. Then some douche rear ended the fuck out of me.

'78 Celica
'82 280Z
'85 RX7
'87 325is
'95 325is
Fun is the most important thing. I get about 14mpg and burn through a set of tires in about 18-24 months, all of which gets really expensive, but it's the price you pay for combining transportation with entertainment.
-
'77 Chevy Silverado
'94 Ford Taurus
'98 Ford Mustang
'11 BMW 128i
-
2005 Mazda 3 sedan with the smaller 2 liter and a 5 speed manual.
but before that I had a 2005 honda civic coupe, 4 speed auto, non-vtec engine :puke:
-
1998 Mitsibishi Lancer - Coupe 2 door
-
1988 Toyota Tercel
1995 Ford Contour
2005 Chevy Cobalt
2008 Chevy Cobalt Sport - current car

Pretty much what it looks like except mine has chrome ding guards on the doors and a bug deflector on the hood.

AND...
The first one is my favourite to drive, by far. :tup
Also, the first two cars I drove were FIATs. They aren't nearly as bad as many claim they are.
-
I added an intake on my Mazda 3 it has a solid little rumble now.
The cobalt is a popular car with young tuners. I've heard mostly good things about wear, and general maintenance.
-
'78 Volare
'83 Challenger
'88 Daytona
'91 Laser
'99 Dakota...rolled it...my dad owned his own body shop and turned it into this....
then I became a father, so bye bye truck, hello '06 Vibe
(https://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh320/teaski/P1010269.jpg)
and just because it's so awesome, here is my Dad's ride.....
-
Dude. :o Your dad's ride is sweet! :metal
-
First car was a 1999 Mustang.
Traded up to a 2006 Infiniti G35 coupe.
Before my son was born, I traded the coupe in for a 2010 Infiniti G37xS sedan. That's my current.
-
2012 Dodge Challenger. Same color.

Bought it for $7,000 and it seems that there have been more repairs to it than the car cost itself. I love it though. Mine has 135,000 miles on it and I still think it runs really well

Between my Panda and I we have:
1996 Mustang Convertible (3.8 L V6) (hers)
1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ceira (3.8 L V6 ) (mine. bought it last weekend. Amazing condition... 144k miles... God bless 92 yr old women who take care of their cars)
and a 97 F150. Long Bed Extended Cab. (4.2 L V6) trying like a bitch to sell this mofo.

This is too important topic to die!!!
So there has been a tragic change in my life;
I had to part ways with my Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 . It simply got too expensive to drive. i drive a lot novadays so I had to get car with smaller fuel consumption.
I bought 2001 Mercedes Benz E-Class 200CDI !
What a great car! Very low diesel consumption and amazing to drive!
I've never really cared about Mercedes before, but I decided to try it because of the nice reputation. Nice car overall
Chicks doesn't like it as much as my VR-4, but at least I feel "like a Sir" cos i drive Mercedes.
Just look at it ! ;D

I'm only 23, so I've only had two cars:
A 1993 Ford Escort 1.6 (my grandad gave it to me, so it basically had no miles on the clock).
Now I have the latest Ford Fiesta 1.4. A very nice car.
Now I'm living in London, I barely drive to be honest.

Top-left. There were a few cars that had a dog-leg 1st gear (where first was bottom left)

Every single car in Mazda's lineup going into 2014 is absolutely spectacular looking IMO.
Had this been on the market when I bought my Mini, I would have gotten one instead. Possibly the best looking vehicle that Mazda has ever delivered.

I can't understand how car manufacturers reverse the side of ONLY the steering wheel? IE, the accelerator is still the RIGHT pedal; gear box still runs left-to-right? That's just half assed. If you're gonna switch things, switch everything.
Anyway... we have an '02 Odyssey that's still kicking, and a '11 Sonata Hybrid. You wanna talk about beauty mileage!

I know the love for driving a Mercedes. They are truly fine automobiles and if you don't buy them brand new off the show room floor you can get them for pretty great prices. I don't have picture of my actual car but it looks identical to the one shown below. I picked it up in So Cal after it had 60,000 miles and a few years on it for $15,000 cash. I've now driven it for 4-1/2 years and put another 80,000 miles on it and with regular maintenance and less than $1,000 in repairs it still purrs like a lion and corners like a dream. 2003 CLK320 Cabriolet.

I'll join the DTF Merc club as well. My car is a 1998 CLK 320 coupe. Maybe a bit old, but it still actually looks pretty good, and has some power under the bonnet. Sometimes I also borrow my father's car which is a 2013 C-Class estate with a tiny diesel engine. I'm not the biggest fan of estate cars, but to be honest this is one is really great in almost every way. It's just a shame that it doesn't go anywhere with that engine. :lol

I just picked up a new (to me) BMW a 2010 BMW 330i. I still have my golf and yesterday I saw a gorgeous 2004 328ci I might pick up for my brother as a surprise (he desperately needs a new car)

Figured it was the air conditioning.
Still, 4 doors do not belong on Porsche's. It's awesome and awkward at the same time, which just makes it awkward. Looks like a photon torpedo with wheels.

Thank you. It was a birthday gift to myself last year. I am in love with my car. As pathetic as that sounds I know. Actually, I think I'm in love with the experience of owning and driving it. It makes me all kinds of happy every time I even just sit in it. I will safely say, it's my favoriate car that I've ever owned.
-
On a less happy note, I've discovered that my ONE black car (2004 Altima) is dying a slow death. :'( It's drinking oil at about a quart a week. Solution? New engine, new car or keep feeding oil til the whole thing shuts down. >:(
Sure, I've got over 97,000 miles on it but it's paid off, looks good, runs beautifully apart from the oil thing. I cannot afford another car. My temp (yes, temp) job is far from public transport. I have no money to put down other than what I could get for my car.
I wish there was a way to know how much longer I have...
-
All this talk about Maserati's reminds me of the time I saw a Dodge Aries with three trident badges on them, and the owner tried telling me it was a 1980 Maserati Kyalami. They kind of look similar at a quick glance, but you could still see the outline of the "Aries" badge he pried off :lol
I'm not a car guy, so I have a 2007 Toyota Prius. Bought it new in 2007, and I don't see myself getting a different car until it starts having major issues. Hopefully by that time the Tesla will have come down in price a bit.

:/ Sorry to hear about that. 97,000 miles isn't that many miles on it. Have you had a few mechanics check it out? I would at least get two opinions about it. I know my Saturn leaks oil (not as much) but it's just the oil pan gasket. It might be something similar for your car, and less costly.

Actually, just over 94,440 miles - but who's counting? :\
I've done some research on this problem. Apparently it's common within this age group of Nissans. "Pre-cat failure" seems to be the culprit, with a guy on the Nissan forum saying: the only remedy being an engine rebuild, a new engine, or a used engine that doesn't have these issues
:'(
See, I'm not leaking oil onto the ground, nor is it burning where you can see (the awful blue smoke). The only areas of concern are the oil gulping and it showing up black when you check the dipstick. Everything else seems flawless.
I will get an oil analysis and another opinion but it's not looking good. Just putting oil in will let the car live another week to six months.

My life..... :(

Figured it was the air conditioning.
Still, 4 doors do not belong on Porsche's. It's awesome and awkward at the same time, which just makes it awkward. Looks like a photon torpedo with wheels.
I always feel like I'm in the minority around my friends when I saw I like the panormera. When I saw one for the first time in real life I just loved it even more.

I don't drive but If I could have any car - money no option it would be one of these :

If I lived out west, I would totally buy one. CT roads and weather wouldn't treat that car nicely.

I bought a Nissan Versa when gas started going through the roof, and even though it's a few years old and pretty damn small I still drive it for the gas mileage.

I live out West and I've seen a couple of Deloreans driving around here. I'll be honest -- they really don't look that hot in real life. :|
But that Challenger????? :heart :heart :heart :hat
-
Yeah, that Challenger is very sweet. They shared that style with the Barracuda. I'd like to have one about circa 1970 or so. Of course, I'd only have one to show really, and I dont have time for that.
If the price continues to fall, I might actually buy a Fisker Karma soon. Test drove one a couple of times the past couple of months. Maybe a good investment, since theyre going to be no more.

Hopefully if it arrives on time at my dealer this Friday, I will be the very happy owner of a dark blue 2014 Nissan GT-R black edition. I traded in my Mitsu Evo and a Saab 9-3 that wasn't being used. I can't wait to play with the launch control.

I only got it because the car came with the backing for it. It needed something there. And I don't like putting bumper stickers and crap on my car so there you have it!

I watched this show. Very nice! I liked how they mentioned the UK study that showed that the engine roar of the MQ caused womens testosterone levels to increase 100% of the time. No other car even comes close. I read recently that Ferrari was in the 70% range and Porsche was around 65%. has to do with the curvature of the exhaust system apparently. :metal

Just put some hankook tires on my BMW, coming from Potenza's I couldn't believe how much quieter and smoother the ride is. Highly recommended!
