Hey everyone!
This is my first roulette and I couldn't be more excited to get it started, so much so that I'm starting it a day early before I thought I would. I plan on having regular updates as I have my weekdays pretty free. Anyway, I'm going to list the participants and rules and such, if you have any questions please let me know. I'll also be posting the theme of the next round so you can think about your submission and it'll hopefully help things move along quickly.
The Participants So Far:
- Scorpion
- Nekov
- Zantera
- Elite
- Xanthul
- Ravenheart
- Sigz
- kári
- Ultimetalhead
Rules:
- Your submission will be rated on a scale of 0-10, there may or may not be chances to earn extra points on certain rounds, I haven't decided yet but for now it's simple 0-10 rating scale. There will be a total of 8 Rounds.
- I prefer to have mp3's sent via email (email provided in a pm I'll be sending out) but if not then you can send me a grooveshark or spotify link, or youtube.
- I'll be listening to each track multiple times and basing my score of the appeal of the first listen and overall listens.
- My last.fm is www.last.fm/user/ReaperKK I recently reset my counter as I decided to listen to all my albums however I've only gotten so far as the letter J so in addition I'll be posting bands which are off limits. If you go on my last.fm and see that a band or artist with less than 5 plays then you can submit something by them. If by chance I heard something that I'm familiar with then I may ask for a re-submission but truthfully I don't think that will happen.
- If you submit a song by a band/artist and it scores a 4 or lower then you can still submit music by that band or artist in future rounds if it fits the theme.
Here is the additional list of bands/artists that are off limits:

Alright off to the rounds, before I post the first two I want you guys to know that I'm open to listen to anything from any genre, of any length so long as it fits with the theme I'm excited to hear it.
Round 1 - Open:
- Open Round so feel free to send me anything, whether it's a song you love or something that represents the style of music I'll be hearing from you.
Round 2 - Instrumental:
- I'm a big fan of anything instrumental so I want you guys to send me some of your favorite instrumental music. Whether it's EDM, dubstep, post rock, or simple acoustic guitar, if it doesn't have vocals then I'm interested in it.
Round 3 - Pick your adventure!
So I had a few questions about my Round 3 so I decided I'd give an option so if you don't like one theme you can go with the other theme
- Option 1: Stripped down, basically what I mean with this is I want a band that doesn't have a polished sound with many layers, the more energy the band conveys the better. Sort of like a garage band only with better production (however poor production will not have a negative effect on your scores)
- Option 2:Live track; Send me a killer live track but to make it tougher I want a live track that isn't on a official studio release. For example if you were to send me DT's live version of "Pull Me Under" then that doesn't count because it's on an official release. B-sides ARE ALLOWED so DT's "To Live Forever" would be allowed even though it was released as a studio B-side in one fashion.
Bootlegs will be allowed, but only if they are high-quality bootlegs, I'll leave this to your discretion.
Questions just PM me :)
To those that submitted Round 3, if you think you'd do better with another option you can resubmit, just make sure to let me know which option you choose.
Round 4 - Long & Dreary
Long, dreary, bleak, dark song. Must be at least 6:30 in length, anything shorter and it's an automatic DQ.
Round 5 - Open
Another open round!
Round 7 - Electronica!
I'm a big fan of music that has some sort of electronic element infused into it, a perfect example would be OSI. Send me your best electronic infused music, or you can send me EDM songs as well.
If this round is too tough for you guys let me know early so I can possibly make an alternate option.
Round 8 - Final Round!
Alright guys so this is my final round and it's pretty much an open round but there are a few rules:
- I want new music, so the band's first release has to be 2007 or later.
- I want three tracks but they have to be from the same album and they have to be 3 tracks one after another.
- If it's a concept album you're sending me, say Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence you can send me "pieces" of a whole track say the song SDOIT and you want to send me tracks 2,3,4 that's fine as long as they are split up on the album I'll take it.
- Each song will be graded from 0-5, additional points can be earned if the songs flow together well. To make things a bit more fun I'll also give an additional 3 points to anyone who can guess their total score (for the three tracks) for Round 8.
Any questions ask!

Damn, I have an idea for the second round but that artist has 10 plays :'( Let's see what I can find...

If it's like 10 plays of the same song that you can send it, but if it has 6 or more unique song plays then it's off limits :) Hopefully that makes sense.
-
Song sent. First time I send a mail since hotmail became outlook, but I hope you got it. :lol
-
Yup I got it :tup
I didn't know hotmail became outlook

Naw, don't worry. You've heard the song already, plus I've got another one anyway.
-
I'd like to participate if that's still possible and you're interested :)
-
Yup I got it :tup
I didn't know hotmail became outlook
Yeah I guess they were tired of hotmail so they scrapped it all together and it became outlook pretty much. :P
-
First round sent.
I'm comparing my own artist list with yours and this is going to be tough.. you listen to almost everything I have, your list is like mine plus dozens of other artists I don't know. I have identified 3 or 4 bands that I think you will like though, we'll see how this goes.
-
Don't let kári in, I want to use the bands he sent me in my roulette :D

Yea that's what I noticed when I was in your roulette, you and I have very similar tastes.
-
Don't let kári in, I want to use the bands he sent me in my roulette :D
:D I'll send some different stuff :)
Sent BTW :)
-

Hey, don't copy my strategy
-
I'll look for something to send asap.
Is the Top 50 you made last year still a good reference point for stuff you like? Just for a general idea for the stuff I can send.

Yup that is a great thread to look in :tup
-
Song sent by e-mail.
My main genre is progressive metal, but I'm not too sure how you'd handle that, so I went with something different. Hope you'll enjoy.
-
I have everyone's submissions and I've heard most of them, gonna listen to rest after work and post an update :)
-
:caffeine:
EDIT: Btw, if you don't like my song many people will hate you forever.
No pressure. :p

Slot still open? I'm in if there is.
I'll send you a pm, I'm about to post results to Round 1 right now but I'll take your submission and add you to the result list tomorrow.
-
Alright so here are the results from Round 1, lots of great submissions which makes me excited for the upcoming rounds
Round 1 Results!!:
Scorpion - Maudlin Of The Well - "The Ferryman" - 5 points
- First Listen: I couldn't help but be reminded of Opeth the first few minutes of the song which is definitely a plus but the the growl style vocals kicked in. Not really my thing but in this case they didn't really detract from the song in the way say Agaloch's vocals do.
- Subsequent Listens: I like the track but I just can't get over the vocals while they don't detract from the song too much, they are still there, luckily it's not all over the place.
Nekov - Of Monsters And Men - "Little Talks" - 9 points
- First Listen: Wow, what a fun tune right from the beginning. I love the female vocalist, not as big of a fan of the male vocalist but it doesn't take away from the song that much. I get a huge The Jezabels vibe from the song. I'm really digging the song.
- Subsequent Listens: I fucking love this song, it flows greatly and is just fun to listen to. I often find this song getting stuck in my head all day. Really a great submission.
Zantera - Oceansize - "Music For A Nurse" - 8 points
- First Listen: lol I'm not surprised you sent me an Oceansize song. I've actually heard of these guys as one of my close friends is a big Oceansize fan but I've never taken the time to check them out. As I'm listening I'm really digging the opening, very post-rock God Is An Astronaut vibe. Wasn't expecting vocals but they were a great addition, sort of a Thom Yorke feel but way better.
- Subsequent Listens: This song is right up my ally. It's layered, has a great buildup, and the vocals work perfectly within the song. Listening to it I feel like a dummy for not checking out Oceansize sooner, espcially if this is what I can expect from them.
Xanthul - Eisley - "Memories" - 8 points
- First Listen: w00t another female vocalist with a great voice! Definitely digging the track, the track has a great full feeling to it, hard to describe.
- Subsequent Listens: Catchy song, much like Nekov's submission. This is another band that I will be putting on my short list of bands that I need to check out. Nothing much to add after my intial listening to the song. Great submission.
Kári - The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - "Young Adult Friction" - 6 points
- First Listen: Another upbeat track, listening through all these submissions is putting me in a good mood. Alright track that's kinda of forgettable, feels like I've heard it before somewhere. Not a big fan of the vocals.
- Subsequent Listens: Probably the biggest grower on this list so far. After coming back to it after a day it really sounds like a completely different song. Still not a fan of the vocals but the song is good so it gets a 6 from me, which is a nice jump from the intial 4 I was going to give it.
Sigz - Phatom Of The Black Hills - "Men Call Me Mad" - 5 points
- First Listen: I don't even know how to being describing this song, it's definitely different and kinda hard to take in at first. The vocals are off-putting but the song itself isn't so bad. I'll have to see what the follow listens bring out.
- Subsequent Listens: I feel like this would be a fun song if I saw it in a live setting but it doesn't really do anything for me otherwise. I did check out the other songs off Ghosts simply see what the style of the band is because this song was interesting, just not my thing.
Elite - Magic Pie - "Endless Ocean (The Suffering Joy)" - 6 points
- First Listen: Reminds me a bit of The Flower Kings, enjoyable and after reading your email I was expecting for it to get heavy at a certain point but it didn't. Overall a good track, not great but not bad either, didn't really stick out in my head.
- Subsequent Listens: It's good but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it, I also wouldn't turn it off.
Ravenheart - Monica Richards - "Into My Own" - 7 points
- First Listen: I'm always a sucker for a string section so that is automatically a plus, I also enjoy how the track seems to build. I really didn't expect that explosion of sound in the middle of the song but it really took it to another level.
- Subsequent Listens: This is another track that really grew on me with every listen. I love the progression of the song, her voice is haunting and really helps set the atmosphere for the song.
Ultimetalhead - Rishloo - "River Of Glass" - 9 points
First Listen: Liking in the intro so far. . . . holy shit this track rocks! Love the vocalist, love the main riff. This song is killer, and it feels short, it clocks in at almost 5 minutes but it seems to just fly by.
Subsequent Listens: I really really like this song, sitting here at my computer I'm trying to surf the web and just keep getting sucked into the song, it grabs my attention and forces me to listen.
Scores:
Nekov - 9
Ultimetalhead - 9
Zantera - 8
Xanthul - 8
Ravenheart - 7
Kári - 6
Elite - 6
Scorpion - 5
Sigz - 5
Round 2 - Instrumental
- I'm a big fan of anything instrumental so I want you guys to send me some of your favorite instrumental music. Whether it's EDM, dubstep, post rock, or simple acoustic guitar, if it doesn't have vocals then I'm interested in it.
-
Sending Kari's songs does work :D
Sent round 2. This one's from my personal collection
-
Nice, pretty decent start... if you liked that track you will love the whole album (Room Noises), it's full of catchy and enjoyable songs like that one and their vocals are wonderful.
Round 2 submission sent.
-
Sending Kari's songs does work :D
You know I was going to send it originally, right? :P
-
Glad you liked Oceansize! Sending a song for Round 2 in a bit!
-
Hmmm... I would have thought that you'd like it more, but oh well.
Round 2 will be sent in a second, I know just the track. I hope it works out better than this round's.
-
Nekov gave the song I sent the highest possible score in his roulette, and here I only get a mediocre score.
Darn, I hoped for some better. I'll send Round 2 soon! :)
-
Sending Kari's songs does work :D

I promise I won't steal any more of your songs
Nekov gave the song I sent the highest possible score in his roulette, and here I only get a mediocre score.
Well, it is a beautiful song. So much I'm listening to it right now ;)
-
It's okay :)
-
Woke up to plenty of submissions I'll get to work listening to them. I'll probably have results tomorrow night but I'll definitely get UMH's round 1 submission up tonight.
-
Did you get mine? My browser crashed while sending it, so I'm not sure if it made it out beforehand.
-
Hmmm... I would have thought that you'd like it more, but oh well.
It's not like I hated it, usually a 5 is something I wouldn't turn off on the radio but it's not something I would buy either. I do plan on checking those guys out more, I hear a lot about them on the forum so maybe a few spins on other tracks will help it click.
-
Did you get mine? My browser crashed while sending it, so I'm not sure if it made it out beforehand.
Yup I got it! :tup
-
Just checking in to hear if you got mine? The reason why I'm unsure is because I had the mail saved. (which normally only happens when it can't send)
-
Yup I got your round two :tup
As of now I'm going to do my initial listens tonight and then post results tomorrow. I'll also post UMH's round 1 tonight, I was planning on doing it last night but had a few people show up unexpectedly.
-
I'm having difficulty with round 3. I have albums that don't have a ton of overdubbing, but the production is beautiful and it has some keyboard (though it's not the meat of the song). Are you just looking for a more open, power trio like sound? The whole "garage" idea kind of threw me.
-
I'm looking for more of a simple sound so a power trio would work. I'm not looking for heavy layered stuff so if it's a power-trio with good production that'll be ok. I'm going to be pretty lenient with judging of that round.
-
Will we get results tonight? ::)
-
Only UMH's Round 1 results, Round 2 will be tomorrow most likely. I'll try to see if I can do them tonight but no promises.
-
UHM Results:
Ultimetalhead - Rishloo - "River Of Glass" - 9 points

-
Booyah. The rest of the album is just as awesome.
-
Yea I'm actually really excited to hear it, really good pick :tup
EDIT: listening through the Round 2 tracks, i have everyone's except Elite.
-
You're right, I'll get mine in when I wake up again. Sorry!
-
No worries!
-
Round 3 is going to be a bitch... I've been listening to a lot of stuff since yesterday to find something that fits the description and doesn't suck and it's proving quite hard. This is going to be a damage control round for me, I will just try to send something solid that won't disappoint.
-
I just noticed that Round 3 theme is up... damn, that's a hard one. I don't know a lot of stripped-down stuff, and that that I do know isn't that good.
-
Yeah, being that I'm not a musician I'm just interpreting that you want something that doesn't sound good.
-
I'll re-word it in a bit, I'll also give an option for another them for round 3 :)
-
Oh, I sent round 2. :)
-
WHERE'S MAH RESULTS
-
Still in the oven.
-
Oh, OK. I was scared they were done and forgotten... I don't want cold results, you see. :P
-
Sorry guys I've had a pretty busy weekend lots of people over.
Anyway, I'll have them up today.
-
Edit: Changing the :D to
-
C'mon people, don't hate. Patience, maaaaaaaaaan. :hat
-
I'm totally patient. :)
-
I'm totally patient. :)
I'm not. I'm walking on the walls right now.
Happy Birthday Reap!
-
:(
Still passed out from your birthday?
-
:(
Still passed out from your birthday?
He sure partied hard
-
First off I just want to say I'm really sorry for the delay, people started coming and visiting Saturday and I didn't have any time off until late Monday. Tuesday I had to play tour guide to a girl who is visiting. Anyway, life is back to normal for me so regular updates will be happening. Sorry again guys I know how annoying it can be waiting for results.
Round 2 Results!!:
Xanthul - Godspeed You! Black Emperor - "Moya" - 7 points
- First Listen: I've heard of this band but never had the chance to listen to them so I'm excited. I like the slow build up with the strings which falls into the single guitar riff then another build up. Really good song and I like it right from the first spin.
- Subsequent Listens: This song is so dark and haunting and I really like every second of it. It's certainly not rushed and it doesn't drag, every additional listen I enjoy it more and more.
Kari - Arvo Part - "Spiegel Im Spiegel" - 7 points
- First Listen: You were right in saying I should lay down and listen to this, it's a very soft, and soothing track. Something I'd put into my evening playlist mixed up with Ludovico Einaudi. It's subtle and quiet, perfect background music.
- Subsequent Listens: I don't really have much to add from my first listen. Good track when I'm in the mood to listen to it.
Scorpion - Marty Friedman - "Vallay Of Eternity" - 6 points
- First Listen: Love the first half, liked the second half, I think it just may be a side effect from listening to Xanthul's and Kari's track before yours. I love his guitar tone, it's stellar, I do not like the keyboard, I don't know when this song was recorded but it has that kinda cheesy keyboard vibe to me.
- Subsequent Listens: Good track, it's a keeper but not something I would see myself listening to a lot. That said, his guitar tone is my favorite part of the song.
Ravenheart - Nine Inch Nails - "Just Like You Imagined" - 5 points
- First Listen: A little weary when I saw NIN, I've never liked the little I've heard from them but I'm excited to see what a no vocals track is like. It's pretty solid track but forgettable. Nothing really seems to stand out to me.
- Subsequent Listens: Nothing really takes me in, still a forgettable track IMO.
Sigz - Floex - "Veronika's Dream" - 6 points
- First Listen: Great mix of acoustic and electronic instruments. Hard to give a real opinion on the track with my first listen, but I'm looking forward to more listens.
- Subsequent Listens: Nice progression throughout the whole song, I like the pace of it and would certainly be interested in hearing more from the band.
Ultimetalhead - Estradasphere - "Smuggled Mutation" - 6 points
- First Listen: The opening reminds me of being back in my home country lol. This song is nuts, not something I would go out of my way to listen to but interesting nonetheless.
- Subsequent Listens: I really dig this track but I don't see myself listening to it all that often, I was going to give it a five but I like it more than average so 6 it is!
Zantera - The Cinematic Orchestra- "Transformation" - 7 points
- First Listen: Another track for my evening playlist. Beautiful track but something I have to be in the mood to listen to.
- Subsequent Listens: It's a great track, solid and fits perfectly in some of my playlists.
Nekov - Pat Metheny - "Ozark" - 7 points
- First Listen: Good, energetic and upbeat song with fantastic piano playing.
- Subsequent Listens: I like this song but there is some rythemic clicking that happens at parts that really seems to distract me, I don't want to nip-pick but it's kinda distracting. The rest of the track is good, the piano still really shines through multiple listens.
Elite - Long Distance Calling - "The Figrin D'an Boogie" - 8 points
- First Listen: Great Bass riff, good song. I get a huge Pink Floyd Dogs vibe from the song the first couple of minutes. I love the change up in pace in the middle. This song is fucking awesome!
- Subsequent Listens: Still as good as the first spin. The groove and the way the song is put together really appeal to me. I can't wait to hear more stuff from these guys.
Scores:
Nekov - 16
Zantera - 15
Xanthul - 15
Ultimetalhead - 15
Elite - 14
Kári - 13
Ravenheart - 12
Scorpion - 11
Sigz - 11

-
:D
Do you mind if the lyrics are in a language other than english?
-
No, not at all, won't count for or against your score.
-
Whoo, most points :caffeine: Now to think of some good track to send for the next round.
-
I'm not a big fan of live performances, so Option 1 for me with the song I already submitted
-
Yep, I'll be using my same submission as well.
-
I'm currently on vacation in Istanbul but I'll be returning Friday so I'll send a track then. :)
-
Song sent! Hope you will like it. :)
-
Sent
-
Sent. Not really confident in my choice, but oh well.
-
Sending by e-mail in 5.. 4..
-
Got everyone's submission except for Kari who is on vacation, so I'll have results ready tomorrow!
-
:yeahright
-
What? Results tomorrow is perfectly fine :)
-
I'm just taking a playful jab at the last time that Reap promised "results tomorrow." Don't worry, it's all good. :)
-
Reap, I'm holding you to that promise
:alwayswatching:
-
aaaaaand sent!! :)
-
Please, results? :-\

Round 3 Results!!:
Ultimetalhead - Floater - "Luddite" - 7 points
- First Listen: What a killer groove! It's going to be stuck in my head all day now. I really enjoyed the direction that the chorus took and the song in general. Looking forward to more listens!
- Subsequent Listens: It's still as good as the first time I listened. I've been finding myself singing the chorus over and over the past day or so. Everything blends together well, the song has a really gritty feel to it that I really like.
Xanthul - The Whitest Boy Alive - "Fireworks" - 7 points
- First Listen: Good song very catchy. I actually prefer this song over most of Kings Of Convenience material.
- Subsequent Listens: Solid tune. Fits in perfectly with the theme of the round.
Sigz - Hella - "Biblical Violence" - 6 points
- First Listen - One way I can describe this and it's like an unpolished version of From Monuments To Masses. This is going to take a few listens to really get everything which is saying a lot coming form a two man band. The drummer and the guitar player are pretty nuts, I was throughly impressed with how well they can play.
- Subsequent Listens: Still a lot to take with every listen but I'm getting more and more familar with the song. While it's not bad I don't see myself going out of my way to put this on.
Zantera - The Black Keys - "Lonely Boy" - 7 points
- First Listen: Love the gritty guitar tone and overall sound of the song.
- Subsequent Listens: Enjoy this song a lot especially the chorus. Good choice, you read my music tastes right :lol
Nekov - Paco De Luciz, John McLaughlin & Al Di Meola - "Midsummer Night" - 8 points
- First Listen: Before even starting the track I was excited to hear it as I've been slowly chekcing out more and more of Al di Meloa's work, I'm a big fan of his acoustic stuff. The song is good, better than "The Rite Of Strings" trio he was in IMO. The playing was on point and this song would be in heavy rotation in my acoustic playlist.
- Subsequent Listens: I gotta listen to more of this trio. I'm such a sucker for 2 or 3 piece guitar players and goddamn can these guys play.
Ravenheart -Faith And The Muse - "Patience Worth (Piano Version)" - 7 points
- First Listen: Wasn't expecting to hear vocals but they were nice. I guess usually when listening to piano pieces that I have they are all instrumental. They were a nice accompaniment.
- Subsequent Listens: I love the piano melody, paints a gloomy picture and the vocals are a perfect accompianment to the piano.
Elite - Duncan Browne- "Streets Of Fire" - 6 points
- First Listen: Nice little tune but nothing really grabs me at first listen.
- Subsequent Listens: Didn't know why I didn't really get anything from the first listen but this song did grow on me a bit with following listens.
Scorpion - Brand New - "Me Vs. Maradona Vs. Elvis" - 8 points
- First Listen: The first thing I thought when I heard this song was "Man I hope a band doesn't kick in", it did at the end but it didn't kill the mood of the song. I've heard a lot about Brand New on the forum but never had the chance to check them out but now I'll make time. I'm not a big fan of the vocals but they aren't terrible
- Subsequent Listens: After first hearing this song I thought I had ranked it too high but after more listens it deservers the 8, great song!
Kari - Neutral Milk Hotel - "Holland, 1945" - 7 points
- First Listen: I shouldn't of followed up Scorpions pick with this lol, the tempo got a lot quicker. Anyway, I like this song, something I could see myself dancing too, something I'd like to see in a live setting.
- Subsequent Listens: Fun song, I can't help but tap my feet to this song, really upbeat, short and the horns add a lot of character to the song.
Scores:
Nekov - 24
Zantera - 22
Xanthul - 22

Round 4 - Long & Dreary
Long, dreary, bleak, dark song. Must be at least 6:30 in length, anything shorter and it's an automatic DQ. Looking forward to hearing what you guys got for me!
EDIT: I just wanted to add that everyone's submission fit the theme almost perfectly :tup
-
Ahw, shit, I was hoping for some more..
How much to you like or dislike black metal, with regards to the next round? I'm just asking this because there would be no point in sending something like it of you hate the vocals beforehand :p
-
If it doesn't have growls in it then I'm pretty open to it. There are a few rare instances where I do enjoy but as a whole I'm pretty put off.
As far as the music goes, I really am open minded and would love to hear some black metal.
-
:tup
I'll think of something, tomorrow. First I have some sleep to catch up with..
-
Take your time :)
-
Neat! I'm finally gaining some ground. :D
-
Not bad for a damage control round... Now I will have to think hard for the fourth round, I don't have much stuff that fits the requirements.
-
Song sent!
-
Sent. It's a bit of a riskier pick, so let's see how it pays off.
-
Sent.
-
Sent. Not really confident in my choice, but oh well.
Sent. It's a bit of a riskier pick, so let's see how it pays off.
Both of these and sent by e-mail. I found this to be a very difficult round to both stick to the criteria and send something you might actually like. Based on the bands listed in your last.fm and in the OP, I fear the latter will not be the case. We'll see.
-
My quote applied to the last round, just fyi.
-
I know, but it fits for my submission this round :)
-
Well, come to think of it, the same applies for my submission this round too, so...
Sent. Not really confident in my choice, but oh well.
-
Sent... Another hard round
-
I knew you would love that song
Also sent by PM for round 4
-
Sent!! :)
-
Gonna try and nail out most songs today so I can have results tomorrow!

Awesome :tup

Awesome :tup
This. I'm holding you to it, though.

You better be or I'll get to you and you won't see me coming :ninja:

AHEM

Oh crap I didn't send anything yet :blush

Why do you hate us so much Reap, WHY? :'( :'( :'( :'(

Did Sigz send (before we all go hating on Reap)?
-
Yup.
-
Alright.
GODDAMMIT REAP RESULTZ
-
This is getting more disappointing every day. :-[
-
Sorry for disappearing, I had some pretty serious family issues to attend to and didn't really think about the forum or the roulette really. Sorry again but things seem to have gotten back to normal.
Round 4 Results!!:
Zantera - Sigur Rios - "Untitiled VII" - 7 points
- First Listen: Before listening this was already a band that I've been meaning to check out so I'm glad I get to hear it in the roulette. I don't know how I feel about the vocals, I don't dislike them, but I don't really like them either. I have to give it some more listens.
- Subsequent Listens: I dig the song but still undecided about the vocals, I'm interested to know if they have any instrumental tracks, but I'd be open to hear other songs with vocals. I really wanted to give this song a 6 but gave it a 7 simply because I liked the music so much.
Ultimetalhead - Sleepytime Gorilla Museum - "The Companions" - 8 points
- First Listen: Just a few minutes in so far and I'm enjoying the track. Really haunting, dark vocals, the dude definitely has some singing chops. The slow yet powerful buildup is great and I really enjoy the end of the song especially when the horn kicks in..
- Subsequent Listens: I like it the more familar I become with the song. While the song clocks in at 10 minutes it really feels shorter, I'm really curious to check out more stuff from these guys and see if the album sounds anything like this song then I suspect many listens for this band. You said you took a risk sending this song, well it paid off with 8 points :)
Elite - Swallow The Sun - "Under The Waves" - 7 points
- First Listen: I'm about a minute in, and the music is awesome, and I can't believe I'm saying this but the vocals are not bad!!!
- Subsequent Listens: Definitely like this band, I have to be in the mood to listen to them but when that mood comes over me I can see myself putting this on.
Xanthul - Triana - "Sombra Y Luz" - 4 points
- First Listen: Your email made me really interested in hearing this song. It did start upbeat but that just made me anticipate the rest of the song. It just gets weird, I don't even know how to describe it. Time for some more listens!
- Subsequent Listens: Just an all around weird song, I don't really see myself ever listening to this. I don't hate it but, I'm not really interested in it.
Kari - Mono - "Moonlight" - 9 points
- First Listen: One of my buddies roommates used to love Mono and always talk about them, glad to hear something from the in the rulette. Digging the song, the guitar tone is wonderful.
- Subsequent Listens: Keeps getting better and better, great pick.
Ravenheart - Depeche Mode - "The Darkest Star" - 6 points
- First Listen: Another band that I've heard a lot about but never heard anything by. I really like the use of electronic beats throughout the song, the vocals suite it nicely.
- Subsequent Listens: Good song, doesn't really keep my attention though.
Sigz - Converge- "Wretched World" - 8 points
- First Listen: Great song, vocals are awesome, the build up through out the song is kickass, I especially love the part where the distorted guitars kick in.
- Subsequent Listens: Really good song that keeps getting better with every listen.
Nekov - Neurosis - "Stones From The Sky" - 6 points
- First Listen: Alright song, kinda forgettable.
- Subsequent Listens: Gets better with more listens but not a stellar song. There are some good parts to it but it feels a bit repatative. I get tired of the song before it's over.
Scorpion - Green Carnation - "Light Of Day, Day Of Darkness" - 8 points
- First Listen: Well long song so it took a bit of time to find the time to listen to this song :lol . So far I really like the track, the singer is good, the production is great. I love it when the strings kick in. The guitar tone is perfect fit for the music. The further I get along I really dig this song, it's a lot to take and I'll have to give it a few more spins but I think I'll only give it one more go before posting results. The guitar solo around the 42 minute mark is awesome.
- Subsequent Listen: Great song, I do wish it was broken up because I'll hear parts I'd love to listen to as an individual song but it's not that big of a deal. Another good score for you.
Scores:
Nekov - 30
Ultimetalhead - 30
Zantera - 29
Kari - 29
Scorpion - 27

Round 5 - Open
To make things a bit easier the next round will be open! You guys sent me some risky picks tho and most paid off, so the I do like the riskier picks!
-
The album isn't very similar to that song, but it's a hell of an album in its own right, so get it anyway. It's called In Glorious Times if I didn't tell you in the e-mail. The other best songs are Helpless Corpses Enactment, Formicary, and Angle of Repose.
Anyway, I'll mull it over and send another song your way.
-
Sorry to hear about your family issues. I hope everything is OK for you now. Please don't mind our rage, we are stupid
Edit: Sent
-
Yeah sorry for the bitching, and I'm glad that you liked it.
Will send shortly.
-
Reaper, try the song "Untitled III" by Sigur Rós. It's one of their most known songs, and it is instrumental. Might click more. :hat
Will send a song later.
-
Sorry for bitching as well. I'll find something to send soon! :)
-
Elite, I'm on you now. :P
Sent, btw. Not everyone is a fan of the vocal style, but I think that you'll really dig the song - musically, in the very least.
-
Yeah sorry for the bitching, and I'm glad that you liked it.
Will send shortly.
It really was a cool journey, the first time I put it on was while I was doing laundry and ironing and I kept stopping and thinking "Goddamn this kicks ass", it's just a long song but still good.

Will do! It's not like his voice is bad, it's just hard to put my finger on it, I'm sure the more I listen the better it'll be.

Strong round from everyone!
Round 5 Results!!:
Ultimetalhead - Foxy Shazam - "Oh Lord" - 9 points
- First Listen: Love the horns, love the intro, love the vocals, all around I love this song.
- Subsequent Listens: This just gets stuck more and more in my head. A really good track, I can't wait to check out more this bands stuff.
Nekov - Anathema - "Untouchable, Part 1" - 8 points
- First Listen: Pretty excited to hear this band after reading so much about them on the forums. I love the acoustic intro, and I really dig the strings at the end of the song. Not sure how I feel about the vocals, singer doesn't really click with me.
- Subsequent Listens: Vocals are really growing on me, strong track that really has got me interested in further listening from the band.
Kari - M83 - "Kim & Jesse" - 8 points
- First Listen: First few seconds in and I already love the synths! I don't know why but first hearing this song I was immediately reminded of MGMT, but the more I listen the less I hear a resemblance.
- Subsequent Listens: Another really catchy tune. I think you described it perfectly in your email, it is a great blend of electropop and shoegaze. An 8 for you!
Zantera - Pure Reason Revolution - "Bullets Dominae" - 8 points
- First Listen: I like the groove of the song, the production quality is what really struck about this song my first listen. I love the female singer!
- Subsequent Listens: Really good song, don't know why but I didn't really catch the violin my first listen but it's a great addition. Another high scoring song!
Elite - Spock's Beard - "Thoughts (Part II)(V)" - 6 points
- First Listen: I think out of all the bands I've sen mentioned on the forums Spocks Beard is the one that I've seen the most but never checked out. On to the song, I like the acoustic intro, and I like the vocal harmonies. I'm not really digging the organ, not really my thing. Some crazy bass tone!
- Subsequent Listens: Good track but something just isn't clicking right away with me. I don't know what is putting me off from scoring it higher. This seems like a song I'd score higher after many many listens.
Ravenheart - Rozz Williams & Gitane Demone - "Flowers" - 7 points
- First Listen: Good song, I'm always a sucker for songs that are just vocals and piano.
- Subsequent Listens: I really like this song, not something I'd listen to all the time but it is a good song so I award you 7 points!
Xanthul - Anathema- "Thin Air" - 9 points
- First Listen: Another Anathema song, got two songs this round. Only a few minutes in but I'm really getting into the song. The few complaints I had from Nekov's submission aren't really present in this song. The vocals are much better, or at least better mixed.
- Subsequent Listens: Really a great song, I can't wait to check out more material from this band!
Scorpion - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - "Gates To The Garden" - 7 points
- First Listen: Great track, very laid back, something I can sit and read a book too while having a bit of brandy. I'm really like the chorus, especially with the additional female vocals.
- Subsequent Listens: Still as good, definitely has a place in my library.
Scores:
Ultimetalhead - 39
Nekov - 38
Zantera - 37
Kari - 37
Xanthul - 35
Scorpion - 34
Elite - 33
Ravenheart - 32
Sigz - 25
Round 6 - Short & Sweet
The opposite of round 4, I want songs 2:30 and under in length and I want them to be upbeat/happy. You have your mission!
-
Damn! I'm scoring well every round, but I never seem to be gaining any ground!
Oh well... I'll have to think on this one a little. I don't really have a lot of short music.
-
Going to think a bit about what to send.
-
God dammit UMH! Stop sending good songs :P
You should definitely check more of Anathema. Fantastic band. Will send soon
-
Dammit, that wasn't supposed to happen! :P
By the way, the name of the song is 'Thoughts (Part II)', the album it's on is called 'V' :)

What's a good album to start with on Spock's Beard? I wanna check them out among others this weekend.
-
Sent, though this is kind of a damage control round for me. Let's hope it works.

I prefer Neal's era. I'd start with Snow, it's probably the easiest one to listen. The Kindness of Strangers is also a good choice
-
Fuck! I just found the perfect song, but it's 2:49.... what do you do if the song is too long? If it's just a one point reduction, then I might even risk it.
-
Song sent!
-
I have absolutely no idea what to send... these restrictive rounds are screwing me, in the 6:30+ round I had to send something semi-terrible just to match the requirements and I think I'm going to have to do the same here. Hopefully it won't be another 4.
-
Sent. This was a tough one, but I think I picked another winner.
-
2:30 is REALLY short. I've got a few but most are <3:00. But I'll manage. :)
-
Seriously, can you extend the limit to 3.00? I'll even give you a picture of a cute cat, here:

Reap?
-
Sent, within the limit with a good margin.

I'm here I got most of the submissions today.
Sorry but 2:30 is the limit guys!
Results will be up sometime Sunday.

Round 6 Results!!:
Nekov - Bill Bruford - "One Of A Kind Part 1" - 8 points
First Listen: Groove track, like the xylophone and the guitar solo. I've never checked out Bill Bruford out but have heard of him, this is a great introduction.
Subsequent Listens: This song is going to make me regret setting the limit on the round so shortly, I really like the tune. It's just so damn funky, can't wait to hear more music.
Ultimetalhead - The Offspring - "Staring At The Sun" - 7 points
First Listen: I'm not really familiar with The Offspring except for the radio hits and one song called "Smash It Up" that I really like. This is a good song, quick and fun. Something I would have loved when I was 16 or 17.
Subsequent Listens: Good song, I really want to check out more of the band as soon as possible.
Zantera - Fang Island - "The Illnois" - 8 points
First Listen: Just hits you in the face with a wall of sound and I love it!
Subsequent Listens: It's a great little upbeat tune that sounds like it's the opener or closer of the album.
Xanthul - Rise Against - "Last Chance Blueprint" - 7 points
First Listen: Haven't heard much from Rise Against but this is a good track, quick, again something I would've loved when younger.
Subsequent Listens: Very strong song, for some reason I see this making it into my biking playlist.
Kari - Vampire Weekend - "A-Punk" - 7 points
First Listen: I had to go with the second song because it falls under 2:30. I will listen to the other track tho. I love the woodwinds at the end of the song.
Subsequent Listens: Nice song but doesn't really click with me, hard to score, I don't want to give it a 6 because I feel it's too low but I don't want to give it a 7 because I feel it's too high but with all this happy music I'll give it a 7.
Elite - Sublime - "Seed" - 8 points
First Listen: Sublime, honestly I wasn't expecting to like it because I've been so burned out on all the stuff I hear on the radio but this is a really good song!
Subsequent Listens: Great, great song, I love the reggae, the punk, and even a guitar solo!
Ravenheart - The Cramps - "Zombie Dance" - 5 points
First Listen: Interesting song, it fits the criteria perfectly tho.
Subsequent Listens: I don't think I'll be listening to this that often, it's a interesting song but not really for me.
Scorpion - Arctic Monkeys - "You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Looking Straight At Me" - 7 points
First Listen: Fun song, I love the vocal style of this song.
Subsequent Listen: Nice fun track, goes well with the theme. Solid song.
Scores:
Nekov - 46
Ultimetalhead - 46
Zantera - 45
Kari - 44
Xanthul - 42

Round 7 - Electronica!
I'm a big fan of music that has some sort of electronic element infused into it, a perfect example would be OSI. Send me your best electronic infused music, or you can send me EDM songs as well.
If this round is too tough for you guys let me know early so I can possibly make an alternate option.
-
Cool, glad you liked that! :)
Just to confirm; that theme is fine for me.
-
Yeesh. I don't think I have anything for this one, since OSI is pretty much the only electronic music I listen to. I'll gladly hear that alternate option.
-
Wait, have you not gotten my round 5 and 6 songs? I sent them both.
edit: Turns out round 6 never sent and just ended up in drafts, sent now. I sent round 5, but I mistakenly labeled it round 4, so maybe that was the confusion? It's a Portico Quartet song.
-
I think you mixed your reviews, you have one for me from round 2
Also, glad you liked Bruford. You should definitely check him out, the guy's a beast
Edit: Sent

Oops sorry :lol
-
Woot! Not bad for a damage control round.
What's the alternative theme? I have something, probably, but I'd like to hear the alternative as well.
-
Cool that you liked Fang Island, the song is actually neither the opener or closer, it's in the middle of the album. But if you liked that song, I think you will like the whole album, it's very upbeat and pretty happy. :)
Will have to think a bit about the next round, but I will most likely have sent a song by the end of the day.
-

-
Song sent!
-
I was just taking a look at the rankings and damn... if it weren't for round 4 I'd be up there fighting with the best. I'm learning a lot from this experience from the participant's side, my next roulette as a host will be very different to my previous one.
-
What do you mean exactly? ^
Also, is there an alternative theme? Because I waited with sending until the real theme would be confirmed. If not, I'll send something tonight!
-
Well, for that round I had to send something that I wouldn't have scored too high myself, but the theme was so concise that I really didn't have anything else. Worst part is that I had Godspeed which would have fit perfectly but I had used it in a previous round, so I was screwed. For my next roulette I'm thinking that I will either have mostly free rounds or maybe allow participants to swap submissions - for example in this case, I would have moved my Godpseed score to round 4 and sent a new song for round 2 instead.
Not a big deal anyway, it's just a game and the main goal is to have fun and let Reap find new music... I guess I just hate losing at anything :D
-
I think one of the best things if you're hosting a roulette is to keep the rounds somewhat open to imagination. If you have a very strict theme, it's going to suit some people better than others, but if you have a more open theme, then everybody has a higher chance to win, pretty much.
-
Yes, that's what I'm trying to do, but also with the side missions I'm trying to create some extra options for players to score points not only by sending something, but by guesses stuff or sending something more specific. On paper, mine should work out, but it's always a try-out I guess. I just looked at what other people had done and tried to make something new out of it, which is limiting of course, since the general game (sending songs and scoring them) stays the same.
-
While my themes are may seem difficult I'm really lenient of judging, no one knows exactly what I'm looking for but if I enjoy the song then you get a high score. Usually the ways the scores work is like this:
Scores 5-6: If I hear this song on the radio I'll listen to it and not skip it, probably won't see out the song
Scores 7-8: I really like the song, I'm definitely keeping it, probably will check out more at some other date
Scores 9-10: I LOVE the song and I'll be checking out more work immediately.
After doing these rounds I already know what to expect from you guys in terms of submission, in the end I just want to find good music and so far everyone has submitted music that I really like, so in my eyes the roulette has been a tremendous success.
-
That's what counts :tup, plus I'm having a blast so I can't complain really
-
Mkay, so about the alternate option...
-
Alternate option will be to send me something with no percussion whatsoever. No drums or electronic beats.
-
Sent by PM, please tell me if it checks out or not.
-
Alternate option will be to send me something with no percussion whatsoever. No drums or electronic beats.
Ooh. Interesting one. I'll see what I can do.
-
I'm taking a huge gamble with this, but stick with the song I already sent you.
-
How are we on this, Reap?
-
Pretty good, I was working on it a bit today so results tonight if all goes well.
-
Awesome!
-
Give them to me.
-
Resultz nao, pl0x.
-
I don't think everything went well...
-
New results! With added bonus of Sigz missed rounds.
Round 7 Results!!:
Round 5 - Sigz - Portico Quartet - "Ruins" 9 points
First Listen: Great song, really great, a chill song with a great horn section.
Subsequent Listens: Loved it more and more, really a great pick!
Round 6 - Sigz - Battles - "Dominican Fade" 8 points
First Listen: Nice tune! Something I can dance to and also and instrumental which works well for this type of song.
Subsequent Listens: I'm really, really curious to hear more music from these guys and see what else they have up their sleeve.
Nekov - Florence And The Machine - "Remain Nameless" - 10 points
First Listen: I have a lot of friends who are huge fans of Florence And The Machine so I'm eager to hear this song. Her voice is incredible! I love this song! This is exactly the type of stuff I was looking for this round.
Subsequent Listens: At first this song got a 9 but after more listens it's getting a 10, it's amazing.
Xanthul - Portishead - "Mysterons" - 7 points
First Listen: Nice, chill haunting song.
Subsequent Listens: Good song and I like it but I wish it had a little more something too it.
Zantera - British Theatre - "Defeat Skeletons" - 8 points
First Listen: Good stuff, fits the theme perfectly. I love the way the vocals are mixed in the song, probably the thing that grabs me the most.
Subsequent Listens: Initially a 7 point song but I tossed in another point simply because of how the song grew on me. Can't wait to hear more material.
Kari - FM Belfast - "I Don't Want To Go To Sleep Either" - 6 points
First Listen: If this song was a bit shorter it would've fit perfectly in the previous round. Very happy up-beat tune. I like it but I feel it'd get old pretty old quickly.
Subsequent Listens: Good, but the subsequent listens did more harm then good.
Ravenheart - Diary Of Dreams - "The Curse" - 7 points
First Listen: Holy shit it's Rammstein, at least that's what the first 20 seconds reminded me of.
Subsequent Listens: Catchy as shit and it's an interesting song.
Sigz - Zola Jesus - "Vessel" - 8 points
First Listen: The female vocalist really drew me into the song, she really makes it a wonderful song to listen to.
Subsequent Listens: While good the song feels like it's missing something to make it great. Still a good score tho.
Ultimetalhead - Daft Punk- "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" - 6 points
First Listen: I've heard this song before but never really listened to it. I've definitely explored older Daft Punk and didn't like it. This I do like.
Subsequent Listen: Good but I don't know, it just doesn't really grab me in, feels long too.
Elite - John Butler - "Ocean" - 9 points
First Listen: This guy sounds so much like Trace Bundy, it's crazy. I dig the song. If you look at my last.fm I'm a huge fan of finger style guitar.
Subsequent Listens: Just a great tune. I don't know much about John Butler but I'm going to check more of his stuff out.
Scorpion - Depeche Mode - "Precious" - 7 points
First Listen: Strong song, fits with the theme well.
Subsequent Listens: Great on me a bit with more listens, I really like it!
Scores:
Nekov - 56
Zantera - 53
Ultimetalhead - 52

-
I think you are killing me here. I'll check if I have something that is so recent but I doubt it.
-
Sent. Shit's getting intense.
-
Sent. I have zero chance at winning, but oh well.
-
Whelp! You'll get mine soon, but I have to find something first.
-
Holy shnikie! Zander at the bottom of a Roulette?!??! :omg: Isn't that the eighth sign of the Apocalypse?
-
Guys don't forget to submit your guess for your total score for round three for a possibility of additional points!
-
Sent.
-
Sent the additional information.
You know, if it wasn't for the first album in 2007 rule, I would have totally sent the first three tracks from F# A# Infinity.
-
I only have three eligible albums that meet the 2007 criteria, and all three of them are in my "to-do" list so I will have to listen to them to know what to send.
Some harsh requirements around here.
Scorp, I already sent GY!BE (Moya, in the second round) so you still couldn't have sent it :(
-
Can you please extend it to 2006? I have some of the perfect stuff to send, but they all have releases in 2006.
Also, can it be a solo album from a musician or a new project of one, although he has been in bands way before 2006? For instance, would Steven Wilson (solo stuff) be a possibility to send?
EDIT: Last question; can it be a band I (or someone else) already sent?
-
Fuck it, sent! 100% confident in my picks
-
I have to think for an hour or two, but will send later today.
-
Sent, I'm quite happy with the submissions considering they're new to me too.
-
Songs sent. Had to send as 2 emails because there was a limit of 25 MB per email and it went just above, but I hope that's okay.
-
No worries on the multiple emails, going to start listening tomorrow, hopefully results by the weekend!
-
*whistles a merry tune*
-
Haven't forgotten about this, just been crazy busy, I'll have it up later tonight or tomorrow.

Tonight, tomorrow; next week, next month; potato, potaato.
Setting expectations: You suck at it. :lol
-
I think it's interesting because people who view the roulette from outside are often: "it shouldn't take long", but when you're doing it yourself you notice that it's not as easy as you thought.

Final Results!!!!!!!!!!
Ultimetalhead - Polkadot Cadaver
* Bring Me The Head Of Andy Warhol - Crazy song, I definitely get the Dog Fashion Disco vibe from this band. Good stuff. - 3 points
* Choloroform Girl - Great song with an almost pop song type of feel. I really dig the acoustic guitar and the overall flow of the song. - 4 points
* What's The Worst Thing That Could Happen? - Another crazy piece but I like it more than the first song, I especially dig the slowed down bits. - 4 points
- Overall solid choice in band, I'll be checking them out soon!
Total - 11 points.
Nekov - The Aristocrats
* Get It Like That - So far half way into the song. Really digging it so far. Groovy, great guitar playing, the drums are fantastic and the drums are awesome. I'm always a sucker for great drumming. As the song picks up I like it more and more. Great pick! - 5 points.
* Furtive Jack - Another great song. It's a little more busy than the previous song but still very good. - 4 points
* I Want A Parrot - Stellar track! I don't know if I like it more than than "Get It Like That" but it's just unbelievable. - 5 points
- Stellar pick! Such great musicianship that doesn't overshadow the music. I can't wait to hear more stuff from this band.
Total - 14 points
Elite - Haken
* The Mind's Eye - Great song to rock out too. Vocals are good and the ending of the song really gives a great vibe. - 4 points
* Portals - Very proggy instrumental, I don't like it as much as the first song but it does flow very well. - 3 points
* Shapeshifter - Very torn about this song because it has a really strong opening and a very strong ending but it just loses me in the middle. Still good but I'm going with - 3 points
- Good pick, I've seen this band mentioned countless times on the forum so I'm happy to get introduced to them in the roulette. I'll be checking more stuff out from them, I feel I'd enjoy them if they were more straight ahead rock over proggy stuff.
10 points + 1 for how well the songs flowed
Total - 11 points.
Xanthul - The XX
* Crystalised - Really cool low key tune. A song that I can see myself listening to a lot really. - 4 points
* Islands - Similar comments as the previous song however this one this song is a lot more catchy. - 4 points
* Heart Skipped A Beat - Good tune but came off as kinda forgettable, the weakest of the bunch. - 3 points
- Overall really solid pick :tup
Total - 11 points
Ravenheart - Amanda Palmer
* Want It Back - Pretty intense synth opening! My interest kinda dropped off at that point, I think the way the vocals were recorded didn't click with me. - 2 points
* Grown Man Cry - Way better track than the previous track. The song has a really cool dark vibe to it that I really like. The guitar tones are awesome. - 4 points
* Trout Heart Replica - Awesome piano and string piece. Really powerful track, I think her voice is what makes it fall short of a full 5 points. - 4 points
- Really good pick, probably the best music I got from you this entire roulette. My only complaint is that her voice seems a little off at times.
Total - 10 points.
Zantera - North Atlantic Osciallation
* Chirality - Really epic sounding piece of music. Vocals and everything seems to flow well. I wasn't expecting those quiet little breaks but they were distracting and they didn't take away from the song at all. - 4 points.
* Mirador - Wow! What a fantastic song! It has such a grand feel to it, all the layers, just wonderful, wonderful track! - 5 points.
* Empires Waste - Probably the weakest of the three tracks but still very good. It was very hard for me to decide what points to award this track, I was thinking of 3 points but after listening to it a few times on my ipod I had to give it 5 points. - 5 points
- Best collection of music so far. This band is going straight to the top of music to check out list. Once I have a little more free time I'm going to scoop up their album.
Total - 14 points.
Sigz - Necro Deathmort
* Jaffanaut - Short song, great vibe to it. Love the electronic influence, can't wait to hear the other songs. - 5 points
* In Binary - Great carry over from the previous song. Another dark track that is simply fantastic. - 5 points
* Temple Of Juno - Wow perfect score! This group is seriously some great music, dark, heavy electronic influence, instrumental. - 5 points
- This band has all the elements of what I currently am seeking for, not to mention it's heavy as hell in some parts. Perfect score plus another point for good flow!
- 15 points + 1 point for the flow of the songs
Total - 16 points
Kari - The XX
* Intro - Well we have a little bit of an overlap from Xanthul. I'm guessing this is the start of the cd. Groovey stuff, really digging the vocals, the beat, and overall the track - 5 points.
* VCR - I love the female vocalist! again another subdued track still flawless. - 5 points
* Crystalised - Really cool low key tune. A song that I can see myself listening to a lot really. - 4 points
- You and Xanthual really picked a good band, you had better song picks, but only by a little bit.
Total - 14 points
Scorpion - Serj Tankian
* Empty Walls - Good track, not great but it's a little bit on the forgettable song. Seems a little bit like a generic rocker with Serj vocals on top. - 2 points
* The Unthinking Majority - This is a little more fun track, I would go out of my way to listen to this song. It's a fun song to listen to. - 4 points
* Money - Another pretty good song, I especially love the verses of the song, the instrumentation is what I really enjoy - 3 points
- Overall middle of the road pick. It's something I may check out much later but I've never been a big fan of Serj Tankian, often times his music is great but he gets a little tiring to listen to.
Total - 9 points

Some final thoughts, this was a great experience albeit more time consuming than I thought. I really appreciate your patience. I found some really great music this round and I'm slowly working my way through all the picks and listening to the album. Really awesome experience!
Ravenheart - 54 points

Even though I was ninja'd, I still had to post :andydt: The last round started 3 weeks ago. I get this was a big round at 3 songs per person, but 3 weeks is still a pretty long time.
Congrats to Nekov!! Seems as though he's giving Z a run as the perennial winner.
-
:hat
I really didn't think you were going to dig that band this much. Thank you for running the roulette, it was really fun
Congrats to Nekov!! Seems as though he's giving Z a run as the perennial winner.
Thanks. This is only the second roulette I've won, I'm still miles away from the Z
-
This was probably the best I've done in a roulette since Cole, so it's nice to know that I can do reasonably well in a roulette run by someone who doesn't fail constantly. :tup
-
Alright, I could have done better I suppose. I'm glad you enjoyed it though, I did as a participant.
And congrats to Nekov. May you continue your streak in a similar fashion.

Great ouck Xanthul ;) ! Thanks for hosting Reap, it was fun. And of course congrats to nekov :)
-
Yeah, it seems you chose better than me :P The XX were on my to-do list so I really wasn't familiar with the album, those three were the ones I had heard most praise from and I seemed to enjoy them so I went with it.
Great roulette, even if it took a few extra days here and there (understatement of the year) I had a lot of fun.
