I odn't do too much to take care of it.  um, every once in a while I clean and polish it with drum polish and cymbal cleaner.  I tune thm when they need tuned.  also, keep them in a dry, normal temperature room, this way, they won't detune from the temperature change and they won't get all messed up from moisture.  Also, try to get in the habit of hitting the side of your cymbals, not straight on.  it is better.  One, it sounds better most of the time, and brings out the true sound of them, and it prevents cracks and dents to an extent.  I hit them straight on, just because it is a habit, but if you can start early, hit them more towards the sides.
