Thought I should set up a thread for this date, especially since I am now going. I was going to go to the Cincinnati show, but I was able to get way better seats here! Got me and my friend going. Anyone else going? We are going to get there a couple hours ahead of door opening to get the best place in the pit. Hope we get to meet some DTFers while we wait or are hanging in the venue.

We are meeting up at Hockeytown Cafe at 4PM. It is right by the venue location. I will be wearing an Opeth - Still Life T-shirt and there will be two others in my group so we shouldn't be too hard to find. See you there! :metal
-
Bringing another friend who is open to prog and is more of a casual Dream Theater fan but definitely still likes them. 3 hour roadtrip!! :metal
-
I'll be there for sure. I wonder if Blazinarps is going.

:metal
I hope we can get a decent amount of people for a meetup. Also hope to check a little bit of the area and go to a good restaurant for lunch.
Also will be getting in line early so we can get in the pit!
-
I thought the Fillmore show was reserved seating. Is there a GA section?
Also, best place to go for lunch would be Hockeytown cafe. That place is the shit, and is most likely where I will be going before the show.

Well, the show is supposed to be reserved seating, but I looked up reviews about the venue and pretty much everyone has been saying that they clear out the first two sections of the chairs. I have also looked up pics as well. First come, first serve for that area apparently, but only if you have a ticket for that floor. People with balcony seats can't go down there.
I'll definitely check out the place on the net.

Well, that's very interesting. I'll certainly be there as early as necessary for that.
-

Yes. New girl. Very excite.
-
Sweet. Hopefully, we'll be spared crazy moshing bitches this time around. ;D
-
Have any idea on when you guys want to meet up for lunch?
-
I guess it kind of depends on when I can get up there. I assume I'll be up there around 4-5.

That works for me. I was hoping that my group wouldn't have to leave early because we are going to be watching all the DVDs from "By A Thread" the night before so it will be quite the marathon and will need some sleep afterwards!
-
I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do about By a Thread. I'm seeing Dream Theater in Cleveland the night it's projected to arrive. Probably won't be able to watch until Saturday or Sunday, depending on when I have to work.
-
Where do you work now metalhead?
-
I work at the Baymont Inn & Suites in Maumee. It's a pretty solid gig.
-
Oh that's cool. I work on Reynolds Rd. just north of Heatherdown's. Pretty not so sweet gig. Just moved to Ann Arbor, will be looking for a job around here somewhere.
-
That's awesome. Ann Arbor is my ultimate destination after I finish up at BG.
-
Looks like I'm definitely going now. Just got 4th row seats. ;D
-
Should we set up a more concrete time for the meetup since it is a week away. I also would like to get in line before the doors open to see if we can get in the area that will be make into General Admission(Pit).
-
I'm planning on getting there around 5.
-
Based on last night's show, my perfect setlist would be:
Bridges
6:00
Outcry
This is the Life
The Root of All Evil
Lost not Forgotten
The Killing Hand (Say WHAT?!?)
Wait For Sleep
Surrounded
On The Backs Of Angels
War Inside My Head
The Test That Stumped Them All
The Spirit Carries On
Breaking All Illusions
== Encore Break ==
Metropolis, Pt. 1
-
I'd be okay with that. The Killing Hand would be one hell of an odd choice though. I'd much prefer Take the Time.
-
Anyone mind if if I tag along for a meet up/lunch/general concert going experience? All three of my friends that were supposed to go bailed on me. :tdwn
-
I considered going to Detroit just to see DT on my birthday but I'm too broke for the travel expenses.
-

Might as well. The moore the merrier!
-
Very well then! So lunch at Hockeytown around 4ish/5ish?
Also my name is Brad in case some of you haven't been around since the old forum days. I'll wear a DT shirt if that will make things easier.
-
Not sure if I'll make it to Hockeytown. If there's any chance of there being a few GA rows, I'd rather be chilling at the venue at 5 to try to get front row.
-
Have they changed the venue since last year? It used to be the majority of the main floor area was standing room.

On Ticketmaster, they have the first two sections as seated, as well as the rest of the theater, but from what I've heard, and I guess from what you just said as well, is that they make it GA.
-
Yeah, this will be my fourth time seeing them at the Fillmore and the main floor has always been general admission.

How early do you think we should get in line to get a good spot? My group will definitely need to eat before this though!
-
Depends how close you want to be. At the last show in Royal Oak (also general admission) I was in line around 6 I think when doors were at 730. I ended up being about 4-6 "rows" back, but my friend who showed up well after doors opened met me down there in the same spot without any problem (no pushing people out of the way to get the spot or anything, he just walked up). So basically, for me to get the spot I did, I wasted a lot of time in line. :lol I still recommend getting there pretty early however. Also make sure you pee beforehand, it can be difficult to fight for your spot back once you give it up.
And I would definitely be down for some chow before hand.
-
I showed up to the Royal Oak show at 3, and they ended up letting the ticketmaster "Print your own tickets" people in first. I was pissed. But, I ended up getting into the first row anyway because of a really cool guy I met in line who saved me a spot.
-
I didn't know Hockeytown Cafe was right by the venue! We should be fine eating there. We will be able to see what the line is like before we even get into the restaurant and can periodically check out the progress of the line. I think 5 should be good or maybe earlier if either of you are worried about waiting in line.
-
I'll definitely be there! Front row here I come!
-
Looks like I'll be able to get to Hockeytown. We're probably going to get to Detroit around 3:30, so let's say Hockeytown at 4? Like Pockets said, we should be able to monitor the line situation and get out there if it starts to get crowded.
Definitely looking forward to meeting you guys. :)

Yeah, I can do 4. I should have asked this a couple weeks ago, but where is the best place to park?
Same to you. :tup
-
Hey, is there a way to get cheap tickets? Mrs. snapple and I are considering going if we can find cheap tickets

No idea really. Either way, you should be able to find any random parking structure, and then take the peoplemover to the station closest to the Fillmore (don't know off the top of my head).
-
Someone, please. Guide me. She will go to the show if we find cheap enough tickets.

Some seats in row F available for $58.00 a piece.
-
wtf is the MFA thing? We'd go hella cheap (unemployed). Is stubbhubb good?
-
You could also go for the $47 tickets and you would get Row G which I think is in section D.
You don't have to sit there. If you show up early, like we are, you can get on the main floor, where it's all standing.
-
I'm still not so sure about that whole thing. It'd be cool if it's GA, but you'd think they would tell you.
-
I'm trying to find a way to cut spending so we can justify going...unless we can find cheaper than $40 tickets.
-

Well StubHub does have tickets for $37 if you want to take a risk.

Yeah, I also just saw the FanProtect Guarantee, I'd say go for it.
-
So...Hockeytown at 4 then? Should we all swap numbers or what.

I reckon it will be all reserved seating. When I saw Porcupine Tree with Big Elf on the Incident tour, I 99% sure sure it was all reserved, as my seat was in the traditional sprawling bar area. I have been seeing stuff at the State Theatre/Fillmore since 2000 infrequently, so it seems rather new with this all seated stuff.
I do not know why they could not play at the Fox Theatre if they wanted all seats. Maybe too $$$.
-
So...Hockeytown at 4 then? Should we all swap numbers or what.
Yep at 4. I think you will know us when you see us. I will be wearing an Opeth - Still Life shirt (The usual black band shirt with red album cover) and will be with two others.
-
Right on. I will plan on making it.
-
We should chill outside Hockeytown for a bit beforehand so that we can get everyone together. Would be a hell of a lot easier than trying to find people in the restaurant.

Can do!

Alright. Keep an eye out for me. I'm wearing a black Zeppelin shirt and a baseball cap.

Too bad you can't get a seat in the F# row :neverusethis:

looks like we won't be making it.

I'll probably be at HockeyTown Cafe. Wearing a DT shirt and my gf.
-
Hey folks, a few of us are here at Hockeytown getting a table. Come join us, don't be shy.

O.O
Dream Theater fans have girlfriends?!?!?!

Apparently they do have girlfriends... and apparently they wear their girlfriends to concerts.

Any word on the setlist yet?
-
Any word on the setlist yet?
Same.
Zepp- Were you wearing a red hat? I'm pretty sure you were seated behind me a couple rows.
-
Damn that show was awesome. I got to the venue around 2:30, and Crimson Projekct's drummers had their kits set up outside, so we hung out with them for a while (got a sweet picture with both of them). Then, the red tour bus came up. JLB, MM, and JP came out. JP shook my hand and I completely lost my shit. Full-on fanboy crying mode. There's a pretty hilarious video of it that my Dad took. I'll post it along with some more pictures tomorrow.
The venue security was EXTREMELY tight. No pictures even. Methinks there will be some live DVD footage from that show.
-
Take it the setlist was the same again? Purely cos I figure you'd mention if it weren't.
Shame, but Cyberdrummer must be bloody loving this.
-

I had a gray hat on. I was seated as far right as you can possibly go right by the exit.
-
How's the merch, by the way?
-
Merch is pretty solid. They have a new version of the ADTOE shirt with every date from every tour so far on this cycle. Pretty cool.
They had another shirt which is a really trippy design that I can't really even explain. It's just cool.
-
This show blew my fucking nuts off. Incredible night. Sounded incredible. Met all 5 members afterwords, shook hands, and took pictures. Probably one of the greatest nights of my life.

Yeah, that was the one I got. I love it.
-
Are shirts 40 bucks?
And I'm assuming the merch table is pretty basic now. No bootlegs or anything
-
They were both $35 in Columbus and Cleveland ($40 for XXL).
-
$40 it is :lol

I was thinking that the reason for not rotating the setlist was so that they sound like a perfect tight machine on the night of the DVD taping. However, I still can't get my head around the fact that Huntington would be the same exact show two nights in a row. Clearly, DT knows the same fans will be at both shows and variation would most certainly be welcomed (I would argue required, but that's me).
Will DT play the same set back to back in same city? For the DVD?
-
my thoughts were that the DVD would be the second night in huntingdon, with the first night a "sound check"
-

i was thinking that til I saw pictures of that venue. seems kinda small for a dvd shoot, unless that's what they are going for
