The Aquabats! are a band from southern California, and were formed in 1994. The band started off as a ska band, eventually moving into more of a new wave/pop territory. They've released 6 albums, 2 EPs, and 1 DVD throughout their lifetime, but that was never quite enough. Lead singer Christian Jacobs, aka MC Bat Commander, always wanted to create a TV show based around the Aquabats. Their stage show involves them being superheroes and teaching lessons to kids, so why not do that every Saturday morning?
Since 1997 that was the dream, but a couple failed pilot attempts at wrong times never allowed the show to happen. Then, in 2007 Jacobs co-created Yo Gabba Gabba!, which turned out to be an amazing success. This has led them to create The Aquabats! Super Show!, which airs on The HUB.
The show itself is a mixture of live-action and cartoon segments, and mixes the ideas of cheesy 70s kids shows and Power Rangers. It's a show meant to please both adults and kids, and is just altogether fun.
