FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

October 24, 2011  The ANABASIS, Featuring Ryo Okumoto, Release Debut CD, BACK FROM BEING GONE, on 10T Records

Charleston, SC – October 24, 2011  (10T Records) - 10T Records is thrilled to announce the pending release of the full length debut concept CD by The ANABASIS, entitled Back From Being Gone, on November 22, 2011, with an official street date of January 17, 2012.

The ANABASIS is a progressive rock collaboration project, conceived by USA multi-instrumentalist and composer, Barry Thompson, with lyrics by noted professional author, George Andrade, who is also Executive Producer. A group of extraordinarily talented musicians were recruited from all over the world to take part in the project.  The premise was to provide a basic framework for the songs and then to allow the musicians to play their parts with their own style and sound.

This amazing lineup of musicians and vocalists on Back From Being Gone make up a “who’s who” of some of the world’s top tier players in the progressive rock and progressive metal universe.  In addition to Barry on guitar, bass and keyboards, The ANABASIS features internationally renowned virtuoso musician Ryo Okumoto (Spock’s Beard) as primary keyboardist and arranger.  The band is further rounded out by Per Fredrik "PelleK" Åsly (Damnation Angels) on lead vocals, Gerald “Mully” Mulligan (The Lee Abraham Band) on drums, Gordon Tittsworth (Images of Eden, All Too Human) on lead and backing vocals, Lee Abraham (Lee Abraham Band) on bass, Stefan Artwin (Relocator) on lead guitar, plus a host of other special guests, too numerous to list.  Lee Abraham also serves as producer/mixer for the release.

Back From Being Gone is a stunner that melds classic progressive rock and metal into a tasty whole, with 3 epic tracks including the massive closing track, which clocks in at 24 minutes.  The concept behind the CD is from the mind of George Andrade, who uses this musical tapestry to weave a sweeping sociopolitical narrative based on 3 ancient civilizations – the Roman, the Norse, and the Egyptian.

“George and I are both humbled and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to join the 10t records family,” says Barry. “To have been invited to take our place among such an impressive roster of progressive rock artists- especially alongside our friends Mars Hollow - is beyond our wildest dreams.  We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership filled with fun times and great music!”
“We were immediately taken with the scope and scale of Back From Being Gone when we heard it,” says 10T Records President, Steve Carroll.  “The level of imagination and ambition is truly inspiring, and the musicianship is stellar.”

Back From Being Gone by The ANABASIS is available for immediate pre-order through the 10T Records website.  All orders received between now and the direct release sale date of November 22nd will ship by the end of the week prior to the release.

Additionally, all tracks from Back From Being Gone are now available to preview in their entirety on The ANABASIS artist page at 10T Records:

After January 17th, Back From Being Gone will be available at your favorite online, digital download, or retail outlet.

Take it from someone who has had this release in his favorites rotation now for several months, you must own this CD! The musicianship is stellar, the packaging is beyond professional and into the realm of real art.

For me, this CD is in second place for release of the year just behind A Dramatic Turn of Events. Yet, that being said one of the songs on Back From Being Gone (Fly) beats everything but Outcry and Lost Not Forgotten in my book.

Huge recommend from me!

:omg:   Oh, um, wow, Gregg, thank you for your kind words  :)

It is an honor and a thrill for me to have been given the opportunity to create music the likes of Ryo Okumoto, Stefan Artwin, Brick Williams (among others) on the disc, and we're lining up a similarly impressive crew for the next CD already, including (hopefully) at least one member of Transatlantic.  :hat

Send me an email at barry@theanabasisproject.com and I will send you a full track, no strings attached.

If you like it, cool.  Please consider buying the CD, if you don't like it, no harm done.

This offer goes for anyone here who can't stream the tracks to preview them.

Barry, can't wait to purchase the album. I admittedly skimmed the article because I just took my meds (), but is there going to be a digital download?

Nah, I'll just buy it.  Ryo's on it, how bad can it be?  I tend to like making blind purchases, I've found some really good albums that way.

Absolutely!  The album will be available as a digital download in any version you want.  I personally guarantee it.  And if no outlets make it available in the format you want, just email me at barry@theanabasisproject.com and I will personally rip the masters to any digital format you want and send you a link to download it, along with a full PDF file of the entire CD booklet.

Fans of Spock's Beard and Transatantic should take note of this.  I really think they'd all enjoy it.  Ryo really did some cool stuff here.

One the best comments we got so far about the music was that it sounded like:

"Transatlantic with balls..."    :metal

To be honest, it was an honor to be mentioned in the same breath with Transatlantic.   :hat

Ha ha! Thank you TAC!

I forgot to mention that I have a "bonus track" that is really just a remix of track 2 "Fly" ( a track that many people cite as their favorite)  and I'd love to send this to any of you that would like to hear it and maybe comment on it here.

Here's the history on it:

We recorded "Fly" with a combination of Jeroen Hendrix and Ryo Okumoto's keyboard parts for the main song.  But we also recorded the song with two versions of the keyboard solo:  the one that got released on the album, and the one I have, that was not released.

The copy I have (that was not released on the CD) has Ryo ONLY on the keyboard solo, (and he definitely shreds here) the version that was released (and that you can stream in the above link) has Jeroen and Ryo doing a keyboard "duel" which is pretty cool sounding.

So, if you wanna hear the bonus track, send me an email and I'll gladly email you a link to download it.  It's like a cool inside look into how the album unfolded and no one is really going to get this track (legally, at least) otherwise.''

So, yeah, also, I'm old and going to bed now, so if you want this track I will send it in the morning LOL
 :lol

KNH,

Will 10t be registering the album art and track listings to the music service sites? I'm too lazy to input the info myself and wish the album would stop coming up as 'unknown'.

I really, really like what I am hearing so far.  This is well-written, well performed heavy rock with strong prog influences.  And after seeing the album art firsthand, I can confirm that it is indeed VERY well done.  Other than a bunch of profanity on Epiphany (which, IMO, like the vast majority of profanity in song lyrics, really doesn't need to be there), I am really liking the lyric writing as well.  There is some really cool, really thought-provoking stuff.  In a general sense, I would compare the lyrics to early Queensryche simply for the fact that they are deep and cause the listener to think without telling the listener what to think.  I appreciate that a lot.  I am on the fence about whether the lyrics in Epiphany will keep me from buying this, but I think I will likely take the plunge and support a forum-member and artist who has put together some VERY good music, and simply delete that track from my playlist.

If you knew the story behind the lyrics to "Epiphany" (which is the only song on the album for which I get SOLE lyric-writing credit) you might give me a pass on it.  I'm not big on profanity either, and rarely speak that way even among my closest friends, but believe me, the profanity in that song is there for a reason. It's not just gratuitous swearing for the sake of swearing. I wanted to be honest with the lyrics.  So it's there because it represents in vivid detail precisely what was going through my mind when I had the experience that inspired those lyrics.

But anyway, thanks for your compliments, I appreciate it.

Hey, that's very strange because I've already (LONG AGO) submitted it.  And it was submitted again when it was mastered.  But anyway, yeah, the album will be going up on iTunes, Amazon.com and a few other digital services.

If it's something you believe is appropriate to share, I'd love to hear the story, actually.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking what I heard at all--just expressing my personal preferences for what I listen to, which I know and understand are not the preferences of the average music fan on these forums.

And I'll say again to others reading this:  If you haven't taken the time to listen to the streams of these songs, do yourself a favor and do it.

I understand, believe me.  And I respect your opinion.  I knew there was some risk when I put those lyrics in there, but I wanted it to be from the gut.

I don't really want to go into a lot of detail about what inspired it, but let's just say it was about getting stabbed in the back by the last person you'd expect to be stabbing you in the back.

Given the other lyrics on the album, I can only assume that means you are a lot older than I originally thought.  Okay, so I don't want to pry too much into private issues, but I'll just ask this one question because I've always wondered:  Was Brutus really that much of a jerk, or was he generally a cool dude when he wasn't looking to preserve the republic by any means necessary?

Vikings!

Yeah, that's my personal favorite and it seems that most people like that one and "Egypt" the most, with "Fly" also getting quite a bit of attention.

The guitar solos in "Vikings" are just totally off the hook, and both of those guys have already committed to playing on the next album, so I'm pretty excited about that.

Interesting side note:  One of the guys who plays the guitar solos in "Vikings" is a guitarist in the only "officially sanctioned" Iron Maiden tribute band "HI-ON Maiden"  (he's a good friend of mine)

While you are keeping track of this thread, is there a particular song that you would want me to play on my show? I'll play any one you want.  :metal

After being able to hear this album in a full a few times now. I LOVE IT!

The songwriting is so damn good. Barry and Co. really kick ass. And it's always good to hear Kyp play on ANYTHING.

For those interested, I will be playing a song from this album on my radio show Next Tuesday. I'd say what song, but that'd take all the fun out of it.

Once again, incredible job and a killer album!

Hey Barry I never got a chance to tell you what I thought about the album from the MP forum. But what I do have to say is  :hefdaddy, the album is really good, one of the only albums of the year where I had to listen again right away, the only other albums that have done that so far are ADTOE and "Deconstruction" By The Devin Townsend Project.

My Favorite tracks on the album have to be Egypt, Epiphany, and Vikings. Also I'd like to make a note on the mastering, after hearing a lot off albums where the mastering is . . . well bad . .  . it's refreshing to hear a well mastered album. Well anyway thanks for the awesome album and I hope The ANABASIS II is even better.

I actually just came here to bump this thread with some news about the "Back From Being Gone" release party this past Saturday night.  It was really cool.  My wife really outdid herself.  The decorations were awesome and there was great food and fun and we had the album blasting all night.

It's a pretty dense album and long too.  So it takes a while to fully absorb.  Just FYI, but there are both lyrical and musical themes in the three epics "Rome," "Vikings," and "Egypt" that are related.  I'd say those probably start sinking in for most people after about three spins.

ALSO:  Forgot to post earlier - THANK YOU to DTVT for your purchase!

I get to listen to my iPod about 10 hours a day (not exaggerating), so I usually have to wait for my physical copy.

Just listened to Rome. Very solid stuff and you definitely didn't exaggerate the awesomeness of Ryo. My only drawback is the vocals. I think the dude is very capable and sings just fine but it comes down to more of a matter of my pet peeves with vocals. I always seem to get tired of it pretty quickly when a singer frequently shifts into vibrato on the majority of held notes as if it's some kind of habitual thing. Decent vocals nonetheless but it became a little distracting at times.

I give it a 9/10. Keep up the great work :)

I don't mind the singer so much, but the guitarist at times holds on with his dear life to the stuff he's playing. He has timing issues, and that kinda mars it for me.

Hi DTVT - I had 100 copies of the CD that I sold to a small group of people from FaceBook and Mike Portnoy's forum.    Those sold out in about three hours.

I get to listen to my iPod about 10 hours a day (not exaggerating), so I usually have to wait for my physical copy.

Hi DTVT - I had 100 copies of the CD that I sold to a small group of people from FaceBook and Mike Portnoy's forum.    Those sold out in about three hours.

Yes and I am still massively massively appreciative that you did that! Album is still in my top 5 of this year :)

I'd also like to say it's one of the best albums I've heard this year.  Amazing songwriting and musicianship on it plus the mix is incredible.  If anyone hasn't picked it up yet do so, you won't regret it.  :metal

Thank you very much, jonny108!

I decided to make it easier to find the live stream, which is kind of buried on the label's web site.  So now if you just head on over to our official band website (https://www.theanabasisproject.com) you'll see a link on the top left side of the page that leads directly to the stream on the label's page.

Also, we're starting to get some feedback from the promotion the label is doing.  I got an email from a guy this morning who runs an internet radio station and he said after they played "Fly" the chat room exploded with all kinds of positive comments and people asking "who the hell is The ANABASIS?"  :eek

We should have some reviews to post pretty soon.

Don't feel bad, I'm not exactly thrilled with their layout either.  But ordering from there helps the band the most (we get the biggest cut from orders placed on the 10t site) and they'll be shipping all orders the week prior to the official release date.

And now that you mention this, I'm going to update the official band site right now too so people can find the order page more quickly.

Thanks bosk1

Had a busy week (as they all seem to be lately), but I did get to listen to this twice and definitely enjoyed it. But I obviously have to spend a good bit more time with the album yet.

Good.

Because I'm going to be requesting some of this on your show.

Just a quick bump to let you all know that our album is now shipping!  And it's two weeks earlier than we originally planned, but we found out that our European outlets had started shipping the album immediately upon receiving the stock, so it was decided that the album should ship immediately WORLDWIDE!

Once again you can "try before you buy" with the stream located here (https://10trecords.com/artists/genres/progressive-experimental/the-anabasis/the-anabasis-discography/)

And there is a link to purchase the CD on that same page.

I don't want to speak for Kirk/Barry, but I think you have to order it online.  Your record store would probably be willing to order a copy and add a nice mark-up for their trouble (which is what we had to do before the internet).  He stated he gets more of a cut from direct sales, and the price is reasonable as well so your best bet would be to order directly from the link he provided.  I'm guessing you're still a kid without a credit or debit card.  Ask your parents to order it for you.

Hmm, yeah, it depends on where you live.  Official street date is not until January 17, 2012.  At that time, you will be able to get it at some brick & mortar shops in the US and Europe.  I'll see if I can find out from 10t where it might be available, but I've gotta be honest, we're not going to be exactly easy to find in stores, the business just isn't there for that kind of distribution any more for smaller bands like us.

Windmaster - I appreciate your kind words, thank you very much.

By the way, we just got two more 4-star reviews from Sea of Tranquility. (https://www.seaoftranquility.org/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=11832)

I'm really stoked that the reviews have been so good.  And these latest ones really prove that it was a good idea for us to bring Ryo Okumoto on board as our official full-time keyboardist.

I got an answer back from my guy at the label on the Brick & Mortar distribution question, here's what he said:

"Our brick & mortar distributor, while independent, has inventory available through virtually every major and mom & pop retailer in the continental US. While not every store will necessarily have product sitting on the shelves, it will still be available through them and will show up in their available inventory for order.  I have checked this out personally through local CD shops in my area.  This same distributor also provides all fulfillment through virtually all of the major (and minor) online resellers, including Amazon, Best Buy, CDNow, etc."

Second album was a done deal anyway.  The record label has nothing to lose.  They're not paying for anything.  I financed all of it.  Recording, artwork, session musicians, pressing, everything.  All they have to do is sell it and take half the money plus expenses, so it's a win/win for them.  I signed with them for access to their distribution network.

Thanks, Bosk1

Happy New Year from The ANABASIS!

Couple of updates for 2012:

First off, thank you to everyone here who has supported us.  You know who you are!  We're closing in on needing to do a second pressing which I really never imagined when we started this project way back in 2008.  I really can't thank you all enough.  It's been a very humbling and gratifying experience to say the least.

We've had some really good reviews posted recently.  You can check those out by clicking the link in my sig if you are so inclined.

"Back From Being Gone" will be available starting January 22nd (the official street date) in your favorite brick and mortar retailers in the US as well as on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Back-Being-Gone-Anabasis/dp/B0062FQQA0/ref=as_li_tf_cw?&linkCode=waf&tag=progstreaming-20) and iTunes. (January 17th)  Amazon will have both hard-copy and digital available.

Also, as of a few days ago, the album became available to listen to on the Progstreaming site.   Here's a link to the stream (https://www.progstreaming.com/2012/01/04/the-anabasis-back-from-being-gone/).

Writing sessions have been extremely productive so far for the next album.  I'm cooking up a few cool surprises for guests including a very remote chance (but still a chance) of a guest appearance by a member of Dream Theater.  Let's just say, my people are taking to their people.  :lol   It's definitely up in the air at this point, but not out of the question just yet.  All of the usual suspects, including Ryo Okumoto will be back.  Brick Williams (Hourglass) will have a larger role this time on lead guitar, potentially playing on half or more of the album and Lee Abraham (ex-Galahad) will be back.  Dave Meros (Spock's Beard) is in and I'm pretty sure Alan Morse (Spock's Beard) will be in as well.

More updates when I have something worthwhile to report.

I love Hourglass, so this is good news.  I was trying to figure out what this album reminded me of and i think i figured it out.
Erik Norlander's album a few years back called 'Music Machine'  Not sure why, but it just does. Which reminds me, i should go and listen to that cd heh

That's great news for you man.

I've gone back and forth on your debut about 10 times. Like it...not so much...love it...not so much...it's been weird.
I guess if I can get used to Fish from Marillion I can get used to your vocalist and as you mentioned at the other
forum if your drummer is indeed more involved from the beginning and can come up with some original sounding
fills it would go a long ways for me. The artwork is stellar and so is the concept, as well as ALL guitars, base and
keys.

Best of luck with the sophomore release.

The album is now available for purchase in your favorite brick & mortar music shops, is available for either CD or digital purchase on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/Back-Being-Gone-Anabasis/dp/B0062FQQA0/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1326817097&sr=8-11) and digitally on iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/the-anabasis/id486092448?ign-mpt=uo%3D4)

This morning, I found out that our album stream has been very popular on the ProgStreaming (https://www.progstreaming.com/2012/01/04/the-anabasis-back-from-being-gone/) site with the opening epic "Rome" having been listened to almost 1400 times  :eek   Very cool!

OK, here's what my label guy said regarding Newbury:

Quote
Newbury has historically stocked our CDs, although it is their decision to do so.  It is available to their purchasing department through our brick & mortar distributor.
This link shows that while it is offered through them, they are backordered, which probably means they had a minimal amount of copies on hand and have sold out:
&sn=103&sm=1&SearchMenu=50&SearchText=back+from+being+gone&anyorall=1&StartSearch.x=11&StartSearch.y=12]https://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=103&storename=Newbury+Comics&db=newbury&sessionid=&deptnr=405&rc=3.2[sn%3D103%2Fsm%3D1]&sn=103&sm=1&SearchMenu=50&SearchText=back+from+being+gone&anyorall=1&StartSearch.x=11&StartSearch.y=12 (https://www.newburycomics.com/rel/v2_home.php?storenr=103&storename=Newbury+Comics&db=newbury&sessionid=&deptnr=405&rc=3.2[sn%3D103%2Fsm%3D1)
So, good news for me that they sold out the first shipment, but maybe bad news for you that they're backordered.

Are you just preferring to buy it at a store instead of online?  It's available in a LOT of places online.

Hmm, yeah, that link doesn't work right, but if you select "search by title" then put in "Back From Being Gone" you'll see that they stock it, but it's backordered.

And I think we're about a week away from our second pressing.

Unanticipated added bonus:   When listening to this album on iTunes, if I don't stop at the end, I get to listen to Arch/Matheos afterward.

I know this has already been mentioned in the thread, but:

Vikings!

Funny you mentioned that, because during that interview we just did they played the whole album and that was the song that everyone seemed to like the most.

By the way, writing will be picking up steam here for the next one pretty soon and it seems that the songs are going to be a bit heavier this time.

Forgot to mention that the Bonus Remix of "Fly" with a different keyboard solo featuring Ryo Okumoto by himself (the album version has a keyboard duel with Ryo and Jeroen Hendrix swapping riffs) is now available as a free instant download for everyone who signs up for our spam, um, I mean "newsletter" - Here's a linque. (https://www.theanabasisproject.com/NewsUpdates/TheANABASISNewsletter.aspx)

Add your name to the list and you'll get a confirmation email with a download link in it.

Actually, bosk1, I am going to be in touch pretty soon on that very topic.  I have several demos in various stages right now and I'm going to be looking for a little help with some of them as we discussed before.  I'll be in touch probably in the next couple of weeks sometime.

Meanwhile, I was just told this morning that our album has reached #1 on this website from Belgium:  https://musicinbelgium.net/pl/  Scroll down a bit for the Le Dynatop3

I don't really know what their criteria is for that list.  What I do know is it's not album sales  :lol    :\

But it's still pretty cool that we're #1 and we're ahead of some pretty kick ass stuff too  :tup

Damn, Barry, this CD is awesome  :hefdaddy

I'll be honest, I bought it out of curiosity having followed all your posts on Portnoy's forum and I expected it to be mediocre and for you to just be some prog metal fan who's a wannabee in terms of making a CD.

I couldn't have been more wrong.  With influences from DT, Symphony X, Marillion you have made a tremendous CD that shows it's influences but copies none.  Every track is superb.  This is my companion to ADToE.  ADToE is my favorite CD by my favorite band and this, to me, is it's alter ego.  While DT played it safe in terms of style and produced a great, old school DT CD this is what they might have done if they had gone for a little more creativity in terms of style.  That's not a slam on DT, as I said, I love ADToE with a passion, it's just a statement that if your CD had been the new DT I would have been as excited by it as I am with ADToE.

Again, in no way have you copied DT but I can't see any DT fans not loving this fantastic CD.

Well done, sir, very well done.  You should be proud.

Whoa, I'm not sure how I missed that post BelichickFan, but I am extremely humbled by your kind words.  Thank you very much.

I actually came here to post a video of our lead vocalist's solo project.  I know this won't be everyone's cup of tea, and it's definitely NOT very much like The ANABASIS at all, but if you did power metal, you may enjoy this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwHdXJsrXiY&feature=share

I'm hoping to have Tommy (the guitarist in the video) on board for a solo or two on the next album, which is, by the way, mostly written, just in need of recording.  I was actually waiting for Spock's Beard to finish up the recording sessions for their album so that I can start sending stuff over to Ryo.

Damn typos  :lol   Too lazy to edit  ::)

Uh, he doesn't have any original material officially released just yet.  Took a while to get this album done, but he got signed and got a distribution deal.  The only downside is with the exchange rate being what it is, to pre-order the album right now is freaking $29.00  (available here (https://www.pellek.com/))

I think it may end up available on Amazon as a non-import though, so I'd probably say hold off.  Tommy also has a solo album coming out pretty soon. Very much in the same vein - here's a rehearsal video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZlBUoguAVKI

He's got a 4 octave range in his natural voice.  Obviously, not everyone is going to like any given vocalist.  But yeah, we think he's pretty special.  And he's really done a fantastic job of improving his enunciation in English.

I hope you like it, jsem.  You can stream the entire album on my record label's website here:
https://10trecords.com/artists/genres/progressive-experimental/the-anabasis/the-anabasis-discography/

You can also buy the album there in several digital formats or the CD.

Also, if you sign up for the newsletter on our official website (link in my signature) you'll get an instant download of an unpublished remix of track 2: "Fly"

Thanks for the support everyone!  :)

By the way, album #2 is coming along nicely.  It's going to be shorter (about 55 to maybe 65 minutes max) and not a concept album, but there will be a theme to the lyrics.  Don't want to give too much away just yet.

Hey Barry.....my oldest son (7) noticed The CD in my car I'm assuming because of the cool artwork and was asking me what it was. I told him it was some music, threw it in and he, my middle kid and I were jamming out to it for a bit. I've been spinning it here the past few days after at least 6 months without hearing it. Forgot how much I enjoy those songs and it can't be stressed enough how evident it is sonically that you guys did great taking your time on that.

heh, funny that this thread got bumped today.  I haven't talked much about it here, but I bought a new house.  We're moving next week.  One of the big wishlist items for me was an expanded studio and so I am taking the second-largest bedroom in the home and converting it into a full-time, always-on, fully-equipped, modern recording studio.

Also, the second album is pretty much written now.  Recording will commence as soon as I get the new studio up and running (probably about a month from now)

Lee Abraham will be producing and mixing again.  The thing is, I think this time I'm going to make the trip over to Thin Ice studios in London for the drum sessions.  That's not to say I didn't like the drums on Back From Being Gone.  Gerald did a great job.  But I would like to have a bit more creative influence while they're being recorded and that's hard to do on a cell phone call across the Atlantic.

jeez, really  :omg:   wow, that's an incredible compliment just to be mentioned in the same breath with them.

I've had some health issues that have slowed this process down a bit. But we are still planning another release.

It will be different, though.   I thought it was going to be more metal than prog this time but it's turning out as proggy as anything I've ever written.  The peaks and valleys are further away from each other too.  The moods are sharper.  And the music has a lot of melody, a pretty good dose of bombast in a few spots.  One guy that heard some of it said it sounded like "Transatlantic with balls"  :lol

Consider yourself complimented then, especially as I'm one of those here for whom DT is my favorite all time band by a fairly wide margin.  Your CD is certainly a thick, dense listen but, yet, is melodic and accessible; what I like the most is the longer tracks never feel forced, they move from part to part in a very natural sounding way.  I hope everyone here has it, it really is a great CD.

Get yourself healthy and we'll be ready for Anabasis Part II.

And sorry for the triple post, but I have to recall my 2011 album rankings:  https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=30052.msg1169264#msg1169264

I ranked this album #10.  Which is pretty awesome.  But I have to go back and revise history a bit.  I like Testimony 2, but I have to say, it isn't as good as some of the other stuff that is ranked behind it.  I am bumping it to #7.  Within Temptation and Trivium each move up a spot.  And The Anabsis definitely get to jump up a few spots to #6.  Yeah, this album beat Neal Morse on my list in 2011.  I said it.

I liked the scope of Back From Being Gone but there was too much emphasis on the story/lyrics and the music behind it just didn't support the concept adequately enough for me. I'm hoping the time in between has honed the songwriting a bit more and that the story elements are intertwined with the music better.

I noticed this CD when I pulled out my Alien Fashion Show Disc that was right next to it for a listen. I wondered what happened to both of those bands actually.
