there can only be one
black rose immortal - opeth
-
Symphony X-The Divine Wings of Tragedy
-
Might have to go for something more simple,
Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer
-
Shouldn't this be in General Music Discussion?
Transatlantic - Stranger in Your Soul
-
anything by majesty....
seriously, mercyful fate - gypsy
-
One? ONE? C'mon! I can try anyway:
Jamiroquai - She's A Fast Persuader. Even has the best bassline ever. EVER.
-
Muse - Stockholm Syndrome. My favourite chorus ever. If you want to listen to it, check out the studio version rather than the live version.
-
The strokes - whatever happened
-
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind

Studio version is better, unless you're there at the gig, in which case you're in for something special

Ghost of Perdition - Opeth
Fucking mind blowing song! :hefdaddy

-
Burn - Deep Purple
-
just one???
impossible question....
Rush - Red Sector A
-
With just one, it's impossible. I'll give you about 11:
Opeth - The Drapery Falls
Shadow Gallery - First Light
David Bowie - Life on Mars?
Bruce Springsteen - New York City Serenade
dredg - The Canyon Behind Her
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Porcupine Tree - Dark Matter
Devin Townsend - The Greys
Yes - Close to the Edge
Haken - Celestial Elixir
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon (full album)
-
Space-Dye Vest. HIYOOOOOO!
But seriously folks, it'd be any of the following:
Rush - Subsivisions
Dominici - A New Hope
Between The Buried And Me - Ants Of The Sky
Hella - Welcome To The Jungle Baby!, You're Gonna Live
Lykathea Aflame - On The Way Home
Paul Simon - Graceland
(not sure any other list in the history of mankind features both Paul Simon and Lykeathea Aflame...)
EDIT: Just seen there can only be one
Rush - Subdivisions
-
American Pie, though Yes and Rush supply make for good competition.
-
Van Halen - "Dirty Movies"
-
Blackest Eyes - Porcupine Tree
-
It's a tie between Iced Earth - Gettysburg and Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
:metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal
-
Symphony X - The Odyssey
Frost* - Milliontown
-
Just about anything by The Beatles.
-
InMe - Myths and Photographs.
-
Avenged Sevenfold - Sidewinder
The fact that someone picked Avenged Sevenfold doesn't really surprise me, but the fact that someone picked Sidewinder kinda does. I thought I was the only one in love with that song.
Anyway, as for me, my favorite song kinda varies depending on my mood. Could be anything from Metallica's Of Wolf and Man to Nirvana's All Apologies to Eve 6's Inside Out to Iron Maiden's Powerslave to Rush's 2112... well, you get the idea. But at this particular moment, gun to my head, I think I'd say...
Ænema, by Tool.
-
Shouldn't this be in General Music Discussion?
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind
-
Between the Buried And Me - White Walls
-
Oceansize - The Frame
-
Rudess, Petrucci, Mangini, Myung & LaBrie - Bridges in the Sky
-
Led Zep-Kashmir
-
Any of the following:
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind, Stranger in Your Soul
Pink Floyd - Don't Leave Me Now
Porcupine Tree - Collapse the Light Into Earth
Was thinking maybe a Neal Morse song, but I think he's more of a story-telling concept album guy and his songs don't stand well on their own.
And maybe even this:
American Pie
-
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen is objectively the greatest song written by anybody ever.
-
I have way to many to honestly choose from, but here goes:
Kvelertak - Ordsmedar Av Rang
In reality I wouldn't be able to choose.
-
Sorry also have to add Alter Bridge-Blackbird
-
Between The Buried And Me-Lunar Wilderness, The ending of this song is my favorite moment of music ever.
-
Phil Collins - In the Air Tonight
-
Rush- Subdivisions
-
Tough. I have like 20 favourite songs. For now I'll go with
Van der Graaf Generator - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
-
It's a tie between Iced Earth - Gettysburg and Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
:metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal :metal
Two fantastic choices!
For me,I'm also adding Michael Kiske's Do I Remember A Life?
-
Impossible question.
-
Opeth: Blackwater Park :metal
-
Oh man. Well, I just happened to give some serious thought to my absolute top 5 songs ever, with only 1 song per artist, and I came up with this:
1. Something - The Beatles
And then the rest in no particular order:
Funeral - Devin Townsend
The Drapery Falls/Ghost Of Perdition - Opeth (Couldn't decide!)
The Rain Song - Led Zeppelin
Wake Up - Rage Against The Machine
Then I couldn't help myself and filled out the top ten (again no particular order):
Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden
Blackbird - Alter Bridge
Starship Trooper - Yes
Arriving Somewhere But Not Here - Porcupine Tree
Stockholm Syndrome - Muse
Honorable Mentions:
Get The Funk Out - Extreme
The Other Me - Frost*
Little Wing (Cover) - Stevie Ray Vaughan
Castles Made Of Sand - Jimi Hendrix
Sleeping Giant - Mastodon
Cochise - Audioslave
I realized that while I consider myself a man who loves more than anything the Super Riff Heavy Pump Up masterpieces, I find that most of these songs make me the happiest. Not necessarily rock the hardest, but strike the biggest chord in me for whatever reason. Some do just rock the fuck out though. :metal
If I was able to add Dream Theater on here though, it would probably be Misunderstood replacing Stockholm Syndrome in the top 10. Really tough choice there though.
-
Sorry also have to add Alter Bridge-Blackbird
Holly shit! Ok yes Black Bird on 2nd. Or maybe a draw but in a dif category, hahah i dont know this is hard to define.
-
Impossible question.
Edit: But if I had to pick.....then maybe Time by Pink Floyd.
-
Rudess, Petrucci, Mangini, Myung & LaBrie - Bridges in the Sky
uh? Are you suggesting that JP, JR, JM, JL and Mangini are not Dream Theater?
-
Helena beat by foster the people
that or
Simple math by manchester orchestra
-
Drought of Snow - A Great Big Pile of Leaves.
It's literally the best song I've ever heard.
-
Screaming in Digital - Queensryche is the greatest song of all time. OF ALL TIME.
-
Starship Trooper - Yes
That's in my top ten. :)
-
Iron Maiden - Powerslave or Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
-
Agalloch - Fire Above, Ice Below
followed by:
Ghost of Perdition - Opeth
Fucking mind blowing song! :hefdaddy
-
