Who is going to this?  Do you think this locale will be more popular then Clearwater or Orlando?

I see them here every year.  Out door venue, with better acoustics and viewpoints (seats) than HOB.
Going by myself, so if anyone else is going, let me know.

I live in Chattanooga, TN and am going to their Atlanta show on the 19th. I am seriously considering flying/driving down just to capture both setlists. I've already spent more than I'd care to share to get the M&G for Atlanta so, we'll see... I have a DT addiction problem...and proud of it!

As a first time poster and long time lurker, they put on a fantastic show. Probably my 2nd favorite DT show tied with the Metropolis tour. My favorite was the Score show. The setlist was the same as Philadelphia. It was great to see them really enjoying and interacting more with each other than they have in the past. It was also great to see MM play with as much passion and energy throughout the entire show. They definitely made the right decision in having him join the group.

I just got home from the show, and it was amazing.  I agree with it being the best since, and comparable to, Metropolis.  I haven't been following the concert forums, but they didn't allow any photos or videos, and no one was permitted to approach the stage; I don't know if this is common practice on this tour.  I think James' voice was having some issues as he went heavy on the water tonight and kept motioning to the side of the stage whenever a particularly difficult line came up.

The show was incredible.  I had 3rd row in front of John, and it was easily the most I have seen him enjoy playing in a while.  He was smiling a lot and playing to the crowd.  He and James sounded great together on The Silent Man and Beneath the Surface.  Again, I haven't been reading much about them lately, but I think BTS is easily up there with their best songs.  All of the new songs sounded great tonight.  i loved the setlist, with Fatal Tragedy, Endless Sacrifice, and Forsaken being the highlights for me (aside from BTS).  I am amazed at how great the show was and how they never fail to impress.  I highly recommend seeing them this time around, no matter how many times you've gone before.

EDITED TO ADD:  Another show review said exactly what I am thinking now that I have come home....any videos you have seen of Mangini playing cannot do it any justice.  He played a longer solo than the ones I've seen online and did an amazing part with an alternating, one-handed drumroll that literally needs to be seen to be believed.  He is an absolute beast of a player.  I haven't liked Portnoy in years b/c of his attitude and how he made himself the leader.  HE was not, even for a second, missed tonight.  Mangini is exactly what this band needed, and it was so great to see the fans go nuts for him.  I've seen Peart 4x, and other than the Hold Your Fire Tour, I think that the solo tonight was the best I've seen live.

EDITED AGAIN: I wondered if my ears had deceived me and that what I thought was a drumroll was actually performed with kick drums.  I searched, but couldn't find him doing what I thought I had heard.  And then I found this old video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31c-FL0ZlZ0

If you don't want to sit through the entire thing, jump to about 2:50.  that is when he starts to really go off, and at 3:11 he does the one-handed drumroll.  Sick.

Show was great.  I have seen them many times here in Pompano.  They were strong, tight, and seemed to enjoy themselves.  When I saw the setlist, I felt a bit disappointed, but live the show flowed very well, and the songs really worked.  Great performance from a great band.

One thing, and this may not sit well with some.....
Mike Mangini played perfectly, with a lot of energy.  Close your eyes and 95% would never know the difference.
But I did miss Portnoys presence and personality behind the kit.  It was a different show without him and it felt like something was missing.
That feeling was not overwhelming by any stretch, but is was palpable to me (even as someone who felt the bands decision to kick mike out was correct.)

I hope you wernt the asshole yelling mike portnoy whenever dt was quiet.
Seriously though, I thought Mangini was great and more importantly the band seemed to be enjoying themselves more then ever which I couldnt help but attribute to the absence of portnoy

I would never yell something like that.  Doing such a thing is deplorable.

And the band didnt seem to be "enjoying" themselves anymore than any of the other dozen shows I have seen.

I just noticed the absence of his presence and personality, thats all.

It was still a very tight, polished, and enjoyable show.  Par for the course for DT.

Too bad you couldn't have seen them in Atlanta. Smiles were everywhere on the band. Even JM was moving around and standing on the drum platform and whatnot. It was definitely a night to remember. ...no "mare" in the slightest... :neverusethis:

So it's a bummer if "par" was the summary of your experience at Pompano.

I actually have to disagree, especially as far as Petrucci is concerned.  He definitely seemed to be having a better time at this show.  And I didn't think anything was missing with MP gone.  I really liked MM's energy and actually loved the absence of his vocals.  I thought JP and JL sounded amazing together by themselves.

I really hope that they truly embrace Mangini as a member of the band.  I am looking forward to hear his contributions in the writing aspect of the next CD.

This. Having MM's mind and talent in the mix during the writing process will be intense to say the least. 2013 here we come!

Excellent, so they played setlist C twice in a row!  This now brings my original plan of (hopefully)seeing them play setlist C in Austin.  The alternating pattern has resumed its original course (which changed in Boston).

I'm all about trying to see Beneath the Surface live.  Spent some hefty cash to see them in Austin with the intent of seeing this song (as I took a risky calculation that setlist A [which has since become C] would fall on this date).

Things are looking goooooood at the moment!

Beneath the Surface is amazing live.  That song has quickly jumped into Space Dye Vest territory for me.  And I was never a huge The Silent Man fan, but that changed the other night.  Damn did they both so incredible.

James nailed that part at 5:18, I love that section and he sang it flawlessly...  :hefdaddy
