I also have an Ibanez RG7321 as my #1 guitar. It looked boring being just black and nothing else, so I covered it in eletrical tape one night and painted the switch the same colour. Guitar hasn't changed a bit though, with the exception of heavier strings. About 4 years ago when I had short hair.

And also, my first guitar - an Epiphone SG 310. Replaced the bridge pickup with a Duncan SH4. Currently tuned to Cmaj Open with .13 strings, but it was in C standard not long ago. The 3rd string is wound. :lol
(http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/24c9cfca37365799f43f9d9e3ee1ab31.jpg)

On top of that I have my Roland GR-20 guitar synth, with the pickup bolted onto my Ibanez. That also currently has an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88 plugged in due to lack of a decent sound module. Found another old picture of me with it and a Roland V-Synth :D
(http://c3.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/9/l_876e7bff48450f5a8a5fabb57bd3a7be.jpg)

And last (and very much least. No offence meant, I just don't like playing bass as much :P ) I have my cheap £80 bass from E-bay. Oddly it sounds fucking fantastic and is currently residing in the studio I work at since I've left the band I used it in. I bought it after saying I'd play bass for the Maiden tribute when I did lights for their old bassists last show. I hadn't actually played bass before and I didn't have a bass. :lol

My prized Ibanez 7 string. I've been using it alot less in the past year because of my band's shift towards a more punk/ska sort of sound.

Fender Precision Bass. I don't play it much since I'm not a good bassist but I'll bring it out every once in a while.

Jasmine acoustic guitar, my very first one. Got it WAY back when I was 4 years old and I still play it every day.

My most prized guitar, the Les Paul. I use this one the most.

I'm too lazy to dig up pics of me playing my instruments but I'll post pics later.

The Carvin pic is a little small, and I don't know how to resize it, but it's a five string, fretless in a harlequin finish.

It is, Geddy dropped it very soon because it didn't have a good bottom-end-rich sound like the Jazz Bass does. My favourite Geddy sound came from his Wal basses, though. Very fitting for the albums on which he played them.

I don't know what they did to make the clean channel sound so amazingly good when the rest of the amp is :puke:

Looks like it. That's nice. And the guy who put green duct tape over his guitar - that's pretty awesome. I salute you.

I have an Ibanez Gio. Nothing special, and it's my first guitar; I've been playing since last July. I'm planning on my next guitar to be a 7 string, preferably with tremolo. JP model is far out of my price range, but I might go for a Schechter Hellraiser or a nice Ibanez RG model.

For the price (I got mine for about 400 bucks I think) they're not bad.  I've been considering replacing the bridge pickup with a dsonic lately though. I don't know the first thing about wiring or installing pickups...so I probably won't.

How much is a 7-string Ibanez these days? If I ever get another guitar that seems like the best and most logical upgrade.

The RG7321 (that one in the picture) is about £300ish. The one with the trem is more in the £500 upwards range. I think they released an S series 7 string model as well, but I'm not sure how much they are.

Holy crap I didn't know about this part of the forums...never scrolled below Political/Religious.

I've just got a Kramer Focus, amazing guitar, I'd say the best beginner/maybe semi-intermidiate guitar there is out there. And I run that through a Line 6 Spider III 15w.

I also have a Shin-Ei fuzz box, that my uncle gave to me. He bought it for I believe 25 bucks, and now its selling in the net for 400 bucks. Got a pretty distinct sound, but I don't use it...I think I need to fix the pots. ???

The trem version presumably has a lock (trem-lock?) does it?

Honestly I never knew there was a trem version. I tried to find a trem version of it when i was looking for a 7string (must have been about 2 years ago or so), but no luck. Is the trem version new?

No, if anything it came first. The U777 was first for Steve Vai and that had a trem, then the RG series one with the floyd rose after that. The budget fixed bridge one is more recent than them.

Well, I run a recording a studio, so I record my band, my solo stuff and other bands.

However, my studio is relatively new. So all of my recorded solo material was done on a totally different system, a not nearly as good system.

Sorry for the small picture size. T'was taken a month ago. Since then, I've replaced the bass drum pedals with Axis X2 Double Pedals (AX-X2).

My recording kit. A Yamaha Maple Custom kit.

My 'stripped down' kit (use this one FAR more often than the other; i think i prefer this one honestly). A Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage Nouveau. Live: 2 months ago, at home: 2 weeks ago.

sexy. What do you use the semi-hollow for? I'm interested in a semi-hollow for jazz and I hear the Artcore series is pretty good for cheap.

Some jazz, but mainly just for anything where I need a really full, smooth clean sound. Great for playing Yes/Steve Howe type stuff, or even Opeth Damnation style stuff as well. Overall the Artcores are fantastic guitars, I'd highly recommend them.

That one is an AS103 BM. It's actually a limited edition (I think it said only 150 were made) run of this: http://ibanez.com/HollowBodyGuitars/model-AS103
They're the same guitar, but mine has burled maple instead of flamed maple for the body, and the pickguard is rosewood as well.

Why is your drumset in a music store?

It was my father's music store. Unfortunately, we had to close it down last January (in 08) because business was slumping (damn economy). Since then, I've had to keep my drums locked up and stored away for the majority of the time as I do not have a place to keep ANY of them out and setup anywhere :(

But yes, from 2001 to 2008, I had kept all my drums at my dad's store. It made it easy for me to just go somewhere and play and be loud and not worry about neighbors or noise complaints (it's a music store after all!)
The first batch of pics were from the last couple weeks the store was open, and I had plenty of room to move stuff around. The second batch are from 2007 or so.

While it may not be the best out there, I've got a good amount of gear. My baby is my Pulse drum set. As of right now it's a 6 piece (10", 12", 13", 16" toms, 14x6.5 snare, 22" bass). My cymbal setup is going to change soon; right now I've got an 18" crash/ride and 14" crash that came with the drums. They're not amazing but I like the sound. A friend gave me a set of Zildjian A hats and a Han Chi 12" china-splash. I don't like the sound of both Zildjian hats, but I use the bottom Zildjian and top no-name. I plan to use the extra hats as crashes, and right now I have the china stacked over the ride.

Also, when I got the drums my parents let me move them into our theater since there's sound-proofing and whatnot in there. My band is going to use this room as our studio, which is actually kinda neat because there's room for everyone, plenty of seating and places for us to sleep if we're recording over the weekend, a full bathroom, microwave and fridge.
All the gear picture is supplied by me

Bass World (Lyon bass....got it for free. Using Logitech speakers for now, but the bassist has since purchased an amp)

Guitar World (Ibanez RG350EX, the nicest gear I own, an Applause AE128, and a Line 6 Floor Pod Plus)

Panoramic of the whole room. Our singer just goes where ever.

We record one instrument at a time. For guitar, bass, vocals, and any keys we may have, we run it through the Pod and use a 1/4-to-USB cable and record in Audacity. For drums, I use a USB Rock Band microphone. It seems ridiculous but the sound isn't too bad. Until I get a mic kit and mixer, it'll do. I just got a MacBook Pro, so we do all mixing in GarageBand.

This is my good ol´ Sunlite kit. Since I only use it for practice, I haven´t bought new heads. The cymbals are even the ones that come included in the kit  :lol . Since I currently just play with the school band and they have a drumset in school, I don´t need a high-end, quality kit, but this one doesn´t sounds bad.

My Gibson SG. The only style guitar I really play, since I play right-handed guitars upside down and its fairly symmetrical.
I also enjoy flying V's for that reason. This one has the 81/85 EMG Zakk Wylde pickups and some Grover tuners on it:

I also play a cheap Washburn acoustic. May not be much, but the thing is indestructible:

Not for a living, but he does sell them for some side cash. Mainly it is a hobby. Yes, he cuts the wood. Actually, the Zebrawood guitar i posted earlier was his first self made guitar, so the body was a warmoth, but he did the routing and cut the neck. Everything else he has done on his own.

After years of playing on humbucked PRS and Ibanez guitars, I'm entering the single coil domain, and it feels just right. Finally the character I was looking for all along.

Appearently we had a very similar discussion last page. I think it's pretty obvious that you should just give me the guitar at this point.

On fender news. I have a squier but it was made when squiers were actual good cheaper strats. I love it. It plays great but man, it needs a new bridge and a new pickup switch.

I used to use some Zildjian before I made the switch to Sabian.

The only one I miss is the China. I can't remember the exact model, but they make some damn fine Chinas.

Well I ordered it yesterday since the sale was gonna end, and my step-dad said that if I buy a quality china, he'd buy me a stand because he didn't want me putting it on the crappy spare one I have. I have a Tama RoadPro and it's excellent, so I'm gonna have him get another of those. By far the best piece of equipment I've ever used, and one of the reasons I switched to Tama for all my hardware instead of Pearl.

Here's my practice kit at home! Specs:
DW Smart Practice "Go Anywhere" Drum Pad Set - two 8" pads, two 10" pads, bass pedal pad, and stand
HQ Percussion Real Feel Practice Pads: double-sided 6", double-sided 12"
Pintech Practice Cymbals: 18" ride (with upside down mouse-pad on top surface), 16" crash, two 12" crash, two 10" splash
Pearl Practice Hi-Hat: 13", top cymbal with rubber padding
Pearl double bass pedal (model unknown - inherited from my father)
Taye brand hi-hat stand
Various cymbal stands, connectors, arms, etc. etc.

It works really well! I have a lot of fun jamming on it and working on rudimentary exercises and getting my hand-speed back up to what it used to be a few years ago when I was playing on real drums almost every day. Having this set up in my room really inspires me to practice every day and now I can without being too loud! My only gripe is that the Pintech cymbals suck for playing on top, which is why I have the mouse-pad duct-taped to the ride cymbal - there's barely any bounce as it's just plastic, and it's louder than you think it would be, but the mouse-pad tones it down a lot and gives it more bounce.

I want a Nord.  Not just because they sound great, but because have a red keyboard like that is fucking cool.  The church I play at, the worship leader was working on getting one for the keyboard players to use, and the church was gonna pay for it.  Then he took a gig at another church (and with it, my dreams of playing a Nord because there's no way I have the cash).

Westfield Les Paul copy in red with mother of pearl fret markers. Was my first electric guitar when I was like 16.

Ibanez RG7321, same as about 10 other people in this thread haha, it's a good guitar, mine needs a little fixing up though.

Ibanez RG420EG Spider Web, currently playing this the most, has a great metal tone and a nice tight tremolo action

A seriously nice instrument, I was craving for that a while back. But I'm quite happy with what I settled with:

The Kawai MP8 mkII, complete with 88 wooden keys!

Also, just bought me one of these:

That's a stage. 88 Revision B to be exact. Only the new EX is newer.

I'm not all that familiar with Kawai keys, is it a workstation, or more like a digital piano?

It's a stage piano in the purest sense, not even any rhythms on board. Couple of years back this had arguably the best digital acoustic piano actions and sounds aboard, I partly bought it for practicing piano silently at home.

What is that?

Mapex Meridian Maple in Midnight Steel

12 x 9 tom
10 x 8 tom
16 x 16 floor tom
22 x 18 bass drum
14 x 5.5 snare
14 x 6.5 Black Panther Sledgehammer Snare
Gammon Percussion Roto Toms ( Working on getting Deccabons to replace them)
LP Ridge Rider Cowbell

14" AA Metal-X Hats
14" AAX Studio Crash
18" AAX Studio Crash
20" AAX Metal Ride
6" B8 Pro Splash
8" B8 Pro Splash
18" Wuhan China
Custom Stack ( 8" Stagg SH Splash/ 14" Wuhan China)

Sound Percussion Double Bass Pedal ( Will upgrade to Tama Speed Cobras)
Standard Pearl Hi Hat stand. (It's not good).

These drums came with Remo Pinstripes on the batter side of the toms. I think Ambassadors on the resonant side.

Not sure about the snares, but I'm going to guess Coated Ambassadors.

I use Pro Mark Mike Portnoy Signature Sticks.

This is my older set up. By old, I mean 1 week ago. I like to change things around.

My old, discontinued FP-9. I found it for 25% of the original list price at a local music store; it's still one of the best keyboards I've ever played (even though there's only a couple features and less than 20 voices).

That's cool, though.  If you have 88 keys and decent touch and sound, you don't need a lot of features or voices.  Sometimes you just want a piano to be a piano, and if you can call up some cheesy brass, strings, or organ, you're set for most any gig.

*SNIP*

Me and my new EBMM Bongo 6 2008 LE. This picture came from a show 2 weekends ago, maybe my third time playing with this instrument.

I don't know if it's me getting used to 'em, but I used to think Bongos were kinda ugly. But the more I've seen Myung playing his, and seeing this pic, I realize they're actually quite nice. What do they feel like, as opposed to, say, Ibanez or Yamaha? I'll have to try for myself if I come across one.

That's how I felt. I wasn't overly into the look of them at first and was leaning towards getting an EMBB Stingray 5HH. A friend of mine was selling this one for far too little and offered to lend it to me to see how I felt.

I can summarize my feelings this way: It's both the best decision and worst decision of your life to play this instrument. Best because it is so amazing. You can feel the quality as you play and the range of tone is unreal. I've never touched an instrument I felt more in tune with. Worst decision because you'll probably find yourself $2000 poorer.  :lol

Really though, I expected to think this was a "really nice instrument"... I did not expect it to make my RBX6JM feel like an $8 toy.  :metal (Ok, not really.) I am in love with this bass and cannot get enough of it. Taking it on the road in about 3 weeks and I can't wait to spend a month with it on my shoulder.

I've got my eye on a Godin.  I've played a few and they're very nice.  How do you like yours?

This is really my new baby, I like everything about it. I play electric guitars since 31 years, went through a lot of them, but only a few that I kept for a long time, a Les Paul Deluxe that I kept from 1980 to 1997, then the G&L Legacy Special from 1997 up to today. All these years I had numerous other ones, all 25.5 scale, humbuckers, single coil, mix of them.

I don't know why, a few months ago I wanted to look for a 24.75 scale again, spent too many hours in different guitar shops, but as soon as I tried this one, I knew this was it.

Unplugged she was singing almost as loud as an acoustic, at least like an archtop, the neck is one of the most comfortable that I've tried and is very fast, I like that ebony finger board, also the bridge is recessed, and incredibly low, nice feature, it plays effortlessly. I think it is the first time in my life I can say that I can play 3 hours in a row without any pain. I also tried their new Icon series, but I felt they were not comfortable as this one, didn't like the finish on the neck (gloss as opposed to satin), and were not resonating like the Summit.

The SD '59 at bridge and Alnico 2 pro at neck (a nice choice) with a 5-way switch (position 2 & 4 in coil split) is making it very versitile, plus the High-Definition Revoicer button, that turns the pickups active, well you then have 10 different configurations. It has the beefy sound of an LP, but with more definition ( I don't know, may be because of that nicely executed bolt-on neck?).  The lows are tight, the mids are really nice, and the highs quite snappy. Can do everything amazingly; Metal, Rock, blues, Jazz even Tele twang. I already have a floating bridge on my other one, wanted this one to be fixed, I like the string through body, stay always in tune.

Everything about it is quality, nice wood selection (Honduras Mahogany body and neck, ebony fretboard, nice flamed carved maple top), good hardware, tusq nut, Schaller strap locks..., the back body contours are well studied and the weight is perfectly balanced.

I don't know what to say more, at their price these Canadian/American made are a steal, they come with a paper having the signature of everyone who touched the guitar during the different steps.

Been trying to find some stock pictures of my baby (cos I'm too lazy to do my own) but can't find an exact pic.

It looks like this
(http://bcrich.net/vintage_file/82978/1.jpg)

but the fretboard looks like this

and at some point before I bought it some Phillistine put a Kahler locking trem on it. If only I could go back to the original tailpiece... I used to love the trem 'cos I relied heavily on the 80s whammy tricks at one time.
Needs a bit of work doing and I haven't played it in 20 years. It just lays there in the velvet lined flight case looking neglected and beautiful.

I also have a USA Yngwie strat in surf green, flamed maple neck, and a white Ibanez Jem Jnr which is my "go to" guitar.
Got a Peavey 5 string bass too.

Clavinovas are so cool.

My sister and I both played the piano when we were growing up, and she took lessons for years and years.  But then she got married and moved to the west coast while I was still at home.  Eventually, my parents sold the house and moved to a condo, and I got the piano we grew up with.  I still have it.  Years later, my sister told me how jealous she was that I got the piano, because she misses playing so much.  But since she and her husband live in a condo (no kids), she'd resigned herself to never having a piano, never really playing again.  She had no idea that there are "fake" pianos out there with weighted keys and which sound really good.  She just knew that she didn't want a junky 88-key plastic thing, and that's all she knew about.

A few years back, our mother died, and I played a piece for my mom at her memorial.  I didn't want to at first, because the guy said that they didn't have an acoustic piano, but an electronic one.  I said I'd think about it if it were a Clavinova or maybe a Kawaii, and he said it was a Clavinova.  My sister seemed surprised and a little confused by this.  Then when we got there, she saw it and got to play it.  I pointed out the volume control and headphone jack, and told her that it would be perfect for her, living in a condo.

A few weeks later, they got a Clavinova.  A nice one.  Somewhere, our old piano teacher Mrs. Rosekrans is smiling.

An Ibanez SGT acoustic

A Hagstrom Swede (Like Scard, only mine is white.) It has a Dimarzio Evo 2 in the bridge and a PAF Joe in the neck.

A PRS SE Singlecut Tremolo. It now has a Liquifire and Crunch Lab combo.

I don't have any good pictures of me playing my trumpet, but it is a Bach Stradavarius.

This is the kit, the drums are a Ddrum AMX kit and cymbals are Zildjian.  I kind of had this shape in my head (along with some inspiration by Derek Roddy) about how I wanted my drum kit to be set up.  I'm a natural lefty playing a right handed set up, so I had quite a few options, but most of the placement decisions (like the 12" tom in the middle) came from necessity; the bass drum is just too large to fit anything deeper than a few inches over it.

Fender Prodigy, I've recently repainted and fixed up, and now I have it tuned to standard tuning in E flat. I also have a Kramer XLI, which isn't pictured. I have that in a weird tuning that I think I made up. haha. I have it written down at home.

Just picked up my brand new EBMM JPXI-7! I did not buy it do play DT stuff though (let's just say I don't have 6 hours a day to practice), but the guitar is exactly what I want. 7 string guitar that works for metal as well as the obvious (to me) funk and has a piezo.

I've got a Dean VMNT Dave Mustaine Signature and an acoustic as well, but I've removed the pics =P

And since I also love folk rock, I've also got some Irish penny/Tin/whateveryouwannacallit whistles. Not only Irish music, which I love, but there's also a Russian band called Тролль Гнёт Ель (Troll Bends Fir in English) who has also influenced in my decision to start playing the Whistle.

These are my Feadóg whistles, one in the key of D and one in the key of C:

If you live near Hacienda Heights in California, there's a place there that has a load, it's where I order strings and finger picks from when mine snap (and maybe one day might order a shiny new one of those instruments, so I can have one in another tuning).

So here are my 2 main players:

(http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x459/phoenix87x/3AE7DF31-1EBF-4AF9-9217-F34B5B11993F-6610-0000080902D96371_zpsc883990f.jpg) (http://s1182.photobucket.com/user/phoenix87x/media/3AE7DF31-1EBF-4AF9-9217-F34B5B11993F-6610-0000080902D96371_zpsc883990f.jpg.html)

The MIM strat is hands down my favorite guitar. Its incredibly comfortable to play and I love the sounds I can get out of it.
The Custom 22 SE PRS is pretty decent overall, but nowhere near as comfortable as the strat, for me at least. The humbuckers are great for heavier material though.

I'm very excited though, since tomorrow I will be picking up one of the Epiphone plus top Les Pauls. I fell in love with it when I was testing out guitars last week and I can't wait to pick it up:

And I will be trading in my Jackson Reverse Dinky, which I rarely ever play:

Oh, it's so cute!  Like a mini-MiniMoog!

A friend of mine has a MultiMoog from like the 80's or whenever they came out.  I was at his house years ago, and he showed it to me, and since he never plays the thing, he asked me if I wanted it.  He doesn't even play keyboards, but bought it on a whim just because it was a Moog and looked cool.  It was collecting dust.  At the time, I wasn't playing, didn't even have a keyboard rig, so I declined.  What was I supposed to do with an analog synth?  I couldn't even just sit and play with it without an amp.  One of the stupidest things I've ever done.

Now that I'm playing again, I asked him recently if the offer was still open.  Nope.  His son is now older and is a pretty fine musician.  He wants it.  Shit.  I could've had a Moog.

Old moogs are great, pretty cool to have an 80's moog! A piano teacher I had, has had 8 different Fender Rhodes in his life. Bought them all for just a couple hundred bucks, restored them, and sold them for much more. If they were nice he used them himself, sometimes, especially if you know how things work you can come across really good, really cheap gear.
Though Korg and Moog are two totally different brands in the synth world. I'd love to have one of both eventually, the soft sub sound of the moog, and the harsh screaming sound of the korg.

Yeah, I love how, like in guitar-brands, every synth brand does have it's own sound. I wouldn't seem that way, you just have some oscillators, some filters, and then every analog synth should sound the same, but they don't. I really like that.

Thanks! I agree, the Mark V can do pretty much everything you'll ever need and then some more. And Parkers are just great, I started with a tangerine (metallic orange) Deluxe and then decided to go custom. And it won't be the last one, saving for another idea, will be some time though. With that setup pretty much all G.A.S. is gone, there simply isn't any combination that would sound or feel better for me and my taste. The last thing on my list is a decent recording microphone, I see an AKG C414 in my future. That will set back my saving for another custom, but I want one.

I have a Boss GT-8 but ever since I stopped using it as a preamp with an old solid state amp and switched to a tube amp (a Genz Benz El Diablo 100 before I got the Mark V) I hardly use it at all.

Still it's great as backup and for those occasions when bringing a big amp just isn't practical. It's able to replace the whole setup in one little box and still sound pretty decent and full. But only if you take the time for some major tweaking and programming of course.

Then again I don't gig at all currently. With a band or project the GT-8 would probably have a comeback and add its magic to the Boogie.

I see... nice! Had a GT8 myself. Twice even... for exactly those practical reasons that you have mentioned! And i've been surprised how "not too shabby" it sounded on the recording of the show compared to my MarkV-Rig. Good tool it is!

Not gigging at all sucks though, mate... hope you'll find a decent band again soon and take the boogie on the road!  :tup

Nice, I love the simplicity of the early EVH guitars. My next guitar is probably going to be a warmoth one with 1 pickup, volume knob, trem, massive stainless steel frets on a maple neck, just simple but infinitely playable guitar. The antithesis of all the spec-sheet scoring that goes on with most modern instruments!

I have this one locked away for my son for when he makes 21.................hopefully I'm still around to give it to him (he's 5  ;D )

It's not a JEM, the guy I bought it from made the handle in it... I think it's an RG350DX, but it's signed, so who cares  :lol

Just picked up a Zildjian 21" A Sweet Ride. I was in the market for a really big crash that could ride or a ride that could crash, and this one fit the latter. Couldn't be more happy with it.

Looks cool, Hef. Maybe a little over the top  ;)

I've just ordered this: a remake of a 70's mellotron, but with a midi keyboard in it. It's just for show, but I just couldn't resist.

I like that colour on the body, but I think having the pickguard and fretboard stained ruby aswell makes it a little gaudy.

This is merely *most* of my stringed instruments (my fretless pretty much lives at work, although I will probably bring it home soon, as I have a new instrument I am doing a lot of practice on at lunch time and am also going to be getting lessons in - The Pipa).

I think this collection is too small and not varied enough yet.

After playing guitar for 25 years I've decided to learn to tickle the ivories, so I ordered myself a keyboard last night.

Supreme M-10 Keyboard

I already know a few chords, but it's really back to square one to start with a new instrument. Exciting!

Cool! I've never really used software instruments live, until I noticed I wanted to use sounds that I didn't have, and that I would have to buy an expensive workstation or an ugly yamaha keyboard or something. So now I've started to use my iPad as a sample library, with Sample Tank, Arturia iMini and Manetron. I must say that although I've got some great gear, it does sound tempting to just have to move 1 midi keyboard, plug it into MainStage and be able to play just about everything. I just love making sounds live, not playing preset after preset. Adjusting sounds live makes it so much more fun to do. Every gig sounds different, because you feel different every night. Of course the big advantage of presetting everything is that certainty that everything sounds the way you want it to.

Well, hell, here's my stage setup right now:

(https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10479585_625406704233245_6668244934797931348_n.jpg?oh=c53570001ef26ae8c040a840f777859c&oe=551C22D1&__gda__=1427125865_c058d76fb731cd16cd9d73941fe5cbe3)

In front of me a Korg R3 (mainly for synth leads, and a couple of cool polysynths)
a Clavia NordStage (still airforce 1, all my pianos, rhodes', wurlitzers, hammonds and other organs come from that thing, I've got it since 2008 I believe, still working great, not a single fault)

Behind me a Korg MS20-mini (mainly a gizmo, I use it effectively just a couple of times each show, but it looks cool, and I do a lot of cool effects with it)
And a midi keyboard, built in a mellotron-lookalike-wooden thing that I bought off off the dutch ebay last year. The midi keyboard runs through an iPad, via a Line 6 Midi Mobilizer II, but that thing's dreadfull, I'm buying a iRig midi-thing soon. The iPad, as I said, mainly runs Sample Tank, for horns, strings, mellotrons, electronic drums etc.
In my fake mellotron there's a ART MX822, all my keyboards go to that thing, which is a 8 stereo channel mixer and DI box. It just has volume and panning, so no excessive buttons like on a mixer, and just two outputs so the front of house don't go crazy.

On the floor I've got a couple of sustain pedals, a controller pedal, and one specifically for the leslie speed on my NordStage.

Lastly I've got a monitor that I carry around to each show. There's a monitor output on my DI mixer, so that I can adjust my monitor volume every second of the show, without disturbing the sound engineer. It's a Mackie SRM 450, great thing.

Got my latest acquisition a little over a month ago and couldn't be much happier.
Now I can remove "awesome studio microphone" from my wishlist.
It's an AKG C 414 XLS (standard pic, too lazy to take one myself).

I didn't use it a lot so far but the first few test recordings (vocals, acoustic guitar) were awesome.
That thing is one allround workhorse capable of recording pretty much everything you could wish for in high quality.

Greetings...

That's awesome! It even has the ability to use different polar patterns, nice. I recently got two mics as part of my college program, the MXL 440 and 441. Much more basic and inexpensive than those, and they're just cardioid, but they're sweet nonetheless.

I really like the company and its product range. Enough to consider parting with my old trusty Shure SM 58 and getting an AKG D-7 for the next live project. And even though I'm well aware they're a part of Harman International since 1993 it's nice I'm able to "buy local" with AKG being an Austrian company.

hello!

haha, that picture was from when i was at college, i had the smallest room ever. i was in a band that played decent sized places in those days. I used to have to fit my and my band mates cabs and all my amps and guitars in those days, so ended up having to spend my college days sleeping next to gear. i'm sure thats every guys college ambitions!

I have sold a lot gear recently, because i want to get a majesty so i only have one guitar i have for the moment.

No piezo?

At the time of buying the JP, I had a few other guitars with piezo, a parker fly deluxe for one. Honestly I didn't use the piezo very much at all,  so decided to go without.

New year, new gear!

After being so happy with my AKG C 414 XLS I wanted to upgrade the gear for my live vocals too.
It's an AKG D7 S replacing my old trusty Shure SM 58. I already got it in November.
More punch, more clarity, better with my bass vocals.

A Two Notes Torpedo Studio on January 4th for finally being able to seriously record a cranked tube amp.
Without an isolated room, a collection of cabs, a special microphone for each speaker and tone combination.
And without decades of experience with all that stuff.

Plus an AKG K271 MK II a few days later for monitoring/recording/tracking.
And all those little details I couldn't hear otherwise.

So it's back to saving mode. I don't really need anything else right now.
But who knows what I'll find tomorrow...

Greetings...
Nef

Clavia NordStage
Korg R3
Korg Minilogue
Korg MS20Mini
iRig Keys with Sample Tank on my iPad
Roll Seaboard Rise with Macbook Pro

All of that goes into my ART rack mixer (that's not in a rack, but did exactly what I wanted it to do), with a separate channel to my own Mackie monitor.

Yeah, I'd definitely hesitate to do something with a Nord Stage. The Fusion, on the other hand, has done a find job of depreciating on its own...which is a shame because it's an awesome 'board.

Aw, Alesis Fusion 8HD. I used to own one like 6 years ago but I sold it to buy a Roland Fantom G8 (which I still own).

I also recently bought a Korg Kronos 2 88. Great board, will be my main unit live.

And I'm also an avid collector of soft-synths, I love them! But Omnisphere is the best them hands down. I'm in process of sampling many of my amazing Omnisphere sounds to use live within the Kronos. For quite some time I played live with my MacBook Pro, an Arturia Keylab 88 and lots of soft synths within Mainstage, but I just had to go back to hardware live because I had a big gig and my whole Mainstage setup crashed down, and it took me like 20 minutes to get everything running again. Nothing like the good ole' trusty big keyboard.

Oh man, the horror. I even stopped working with presets. The first couple of years I played in my current band, I programmed the entire setlist in my NordStage, I just had to click and everything was the way it should be. But after a couple of months I grew really tired of hearing the same exact sounds week after week. In my current setup most is done live. The MS20 and MiniLogue are very cool for that, every show sounds different.

That's where the Kronos works wonders. The Setlist Mode was one of the big reasons I spent big bucks in buying the keyboard.

It's basically the flexibility of a software based solution like Mainstage inside the reliability of a hardware keyboard.

How's the MiniLogue working for you? I saw one the other day and I was pretty interested!

The Minilogue is awesome. Haven't used it live yet, still finding my way around it, so it hasn't had it's big test.
For me it replaces the R3, that I've owned for about three years now, but the minilogue could replace something like the microkorg too. The worst thing about those kind of synths is the fact that if you want to change anything to your sound live, you have to get intro the menu, try to find the parameter you want to change, and then you could alter it. The minilogue has a lot of buttons that are always waiting to be fiddled with. I love the fact that you have presets, but you can just start with nothing and later save that. It's a great machine, especially for 700 euros. Couple of drawbacks though: no sustain pedal input, and little keys, but both are apparently easily solved by playing it through a midi keyboard.

Oh and I love the fact that you can actually see the waveform as you modulate it.

Sweet, more Kronos users! Also, glad to hear there's some love for the Fusion.

Have you checked out Omnisphere 2 yet?
Title: Re: The Official "Post Your Instrument" Thread
Post by: DarkLord_Lalinc on March 02, 2016, 08:53:09 AM
Yeah, Omnisphere 2 is pretty much the best soft-synth out there! I use it in practically all my tracks.

I know it's very unlikely, but a hardware synth version of Omnisphere 2 would be nice! One with the sound and power of Omnisphere married with the versatility of a hardware instrument, with lots of on-board controls and seamless sound switching. *Drools*

And I remember loving my Fusion. It was really the best on its class (price included), and the 80 GB drive was really something. I really wanted to keep it, but I couldn't afford having two big keyboards back then (and I was practically sold on the Fantom G8). I remember that some of the Hollow Sun sounds were super cool.

It is an Ovation DJA34-AL model in the 'Demented' series. Nice acoustic, but I'm actually trying to sell it and buy something a little closer to a classical guitar.

The papers on the wall are my scales (shown on a fretboard) and scale/mode patterns.

Okay, so here's a little bit of the Marshall.  It's a 1978 JMP 2204.  50W.  1 channel. Just got it out of the shop with new power tubes, new input jack shielding, and 5 of 6 pots replaced.

Problem I always had was when cranking the preamp knob, I could never get a good clean tone.  So I started doing the reverse.  Cranking the master volume, then using the preamp volume for level control.  This has a low and high sensitivity input.  I always use the low.  At the beginning, I show what the natural preamp distortion sounds like in the low and high sensitivity inputs, then go back to low sensitivity and use my pedal setup for cleans and distortion.  The phaser pedal, which I didn't use here, was an off-name brand purchased by my brother-in-law, when he was stationed in South Korea.

This video does not even begin to do justice to how damn good this amp sounds.  Also, sorry for the rush job, we're getting ready to head out to see Megadeth at the Sands Casino in Bethlehem.

Title: Re: The Official "Post Your Instrument" Thread

The Yamaha, the 88-key P.O.S. with the glowing blue display.  From the angle in the picture, you can't read it, but if you're in front of it, it tells you what patch you're on and your main settings.  Now imagine that somehow the contrast got turned all the way up.  You'd think that higher contrast would make it much clearer, but for whatever reason, "contrast" is just another brightness setting, and everything was all bluish-white and washed out.

My problem was that I didn't even remember that there was a contrast knob, so it never occurred to me to check the contrast setting.  I just figured the display was fried.

My main bass right now. It's an Ibanez GSR206. I got this for my birthday last year and the extended range has really inspired my writing. The scrunchy around the neck is to help dampen the strings for when I want to do some two handed tapping up on the higher end of the fretboard.

(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/jets10893/IMG_0321_zps3cx5uan1.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/jets10893/media/IMG_0321_zps3cx5uan1.jpg.html)

Old faithful. This is a Fender Jazz Bass (obviously) and is my pride and joy. I got it for my junior high school graduation 10 years ago (wow time flies) and it immediately became my most prized possession. This was my main bass for years until my writing and playing style changed and became geared more towards 5 and 6 strings. Still, this was the most recent bass that I gigged with back when I was in a jazz band, and is probably the best sounding instrument that I have. I keep it in Drop D tuning now since my 6 string has E standard tuning covered and for other standard tunings like C or D, I can just pop my capo onto the 6 string's neck.

(http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b550/jets10893/IMG_0322_zpsfpkjy5qi.jpg) (http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/jets10893/media/IMG_0322_zpsfpkjy5qi.jpg.html)

This is a Kramer Striker 5 string and was the first extended range bass that I got, buying it off of a friend. It's wiring is a little messed up and the nut is slightly out of place, but these are all easily fixable things. I keep it tuned down a half step to Eb standard so that I can have the low Bb (perfect for when I want to cover The Root of All Evil) and with these three instruments in different tunings and my capo, I have all that I will ever need for gigging, with all tunings that I write in covered.

So after a long wait, my new baby is coming on Monday. I've been missing my Floyd since the wood split under the bridge on my Jem.

She's a beauty for the price. May need to upgrade the pickups at some point as I'm sure I'll miss the Evos.

It's an Ibanez RG370. She's a looker alright.

I was looking for a super strat in blue, like Jake E Lee's Charvel from back in the 80s. Always wanted a blue guitar. When I saw this I fell for it..😍

Bump

I'm building a custom pedalboard. Right now I'm almost done making custom length cables for it. Still gotta paint it, glue on some siding, and install the patch bay and power supply.

Before Amp
Guitar > Korg Pitchblack Tuner > TC Electronic Forcefield Compressor > Digitech Drop > Digitech Whammy(w/ Cycle Path 05) > Loop Switcher (Loop 1: Dunlop Crybaby from Hell, Loop 2: MXR Phase 90, Loop 3: EHX Soul Food w/ JHS Mod) > Loop Master Effect Looper/Channel Switcher(In Loop: TC Electronic Spark Mini Booster > Boss Super Overdrive) > Orange CR120H

Orange FS-1 Footswitch for Amp Reverb

Effects Loop
ISP Decimator II > Ernie Ball VP Jr. > Loop Switcher (Loop 1: MXR Analog Chorus, Loop 2: MXR Carbon Copy Delay, Loop 3: Boss Giga Delay[w/ FS-5U to Switch presets], Loop 4: TC Electronic Hall of Fame 2 Reverb)

Obviously something this big would be a huge pain in the ass to transport so I'm probably gonna make an abbreviated version of it one of these days.

I already showed off my bass collection (although that has grown since then), but now it’s time to show off my drumset.

I have a bit more that I would like to add to it, but this is a good start for now.

*Custom Pedalboard*

Obviously something this big would be a huge pain in the ass to transport so I'm probably gonna make an abbreviated version of it one of these days.

Some nice gear you have there!

Here's my own board, which I don't think I ever posted here before, and in its current size is already a pain in the ass to haul around. Not pictured is my Volume pedal, which I place at the left side of the board. Between this and the amp, I have a multicable consisting of 4 mono and 1 stereo jacks. It's been my preferred setup for years, although I used to have a smaller board once..

(https://ughyga.db.files.1drv.com/y4m7xZoIIEysesYEPr453gMEIL_NVx3vIuTvwlhEv8f-dtiama9hsK_f57I6DgL1sS6fHO7Qzp1iX5nKpWCibx7kkotpPlk90eXTRd4i3_YEXakvz66gqcdx7CJ6n9jGybA--tFMAByqdt5XgKMsHL5CPx5mbr2pLhAhGIRAtgUR1gpNr0XRoKQC9uDKJklyS-Zqb1Gr6V72xafPuG6FUDVXQ?width=660&height=495&cropmode=none)

The setup is quite complicated, but I'll try to make it clear.. The Boss NS-2 acts as some sort of hub, containig both the amp, effects and the loop..

GUITAR -> TC Polytune -> EHX Small Stone (Phaser) -> Boss NS2 Input

Boss NS2 Send -> Way Huge Green Rhino (Overdrive) -> Ibanez TS9DX (2x Tubescreamer) -> DOD Carcosa (Fuzz) -> Dunlop CryBaby Wah -> AMP INPUT

AMP FX SEND -> EHX LPB1 (Solo Boost) -> Boss NS2 Return
Boss S2 Output -> MXR Carbon Copy (Delay) -> Volume Pedal (not depicted) -> AMP FX RETURN

The two pedals in the lower left corner are channel switchers for a Mesa/Boogie Mk. III (made by now defunct Voodoo Labs) and a custom switch for an ENGL Fireball 60 to switch both channels at once (the original Z-4 switch I own as well is a) way too big and b) requires you to step on two switches at the same time, which is stupid. I modified that one as well, but point a still stands - this is way more compact for normal use).

I’m curious why you would get two very similar seven-strings.

JP7 is in Drop Ab, JP15-7 is in standard.

Also, different pickups, and JP15 has the 20db boost and push-pull coil split. The JP15 also plays a bit better, I'd say.
