cyberdrummer
Metropolis pt.-1
Millais
The Curious Orange
-
Me :tup
-
Me I think. Either this or the Manchester Apollo.
-
Probably - I'll definitely be at Manchester, decide about this doing this one as well nearer the time as long as it doesn't sell out :)

ahh cheers :) definitely official; i wonder how fast they'll sell out ... any ideas?
-
It'll take a long time I reckon, if it sells out at all.
-
It'll take a long time I reckon, if it sells out at all.
so i'll be alright leaving it a day do you reckon?
-
I would think so, yeah.
-
Wembley hasn't sold out the last 2 times, and I don't think it will
in 2012.
-
I really really hope is isn't all seated.
-
I really really hope is isn't all seated.
-
I really really hope IT IS all seated.
-
Wembley hasn't sold out the last 2 times, and I don't think it will
in 2012.
It sold out in 2007 for Chaos in Motion.
-
https://www.roadrunnerrecords.co.uk/page/News?news_id=113137
£32 for standing
£45 for seating
I think my mind is made up!
-
standing it is.
-
https://www.seetickets.com/Tour/DREAM-THEATER
that's listing DT as playing at the Arena. just realised they're playing there rather than the stadium.. woops!
-
Do you think the Meet & Greet Package will sell out? Isn't the Meet & Greet Package more expensive than it was on the last tour? This time it's $250, which is £156.
Oh and do you think that if you buy the Meet & Greet Package, the ticket you get will be seated or standing? It says it will be in the first 5 rows of the stage but there are no seats in the first five rows of the stage at Wembley Arena.
-
It is all seated, so the seat you get will be in the first 5 rows.
-
All seating fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
-
All seating fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
In all seriousness though, the two Hammersmith shows in 2005 were all seated and they were the best DT gigs I've been to.
-
Yeah, but Hammersmith is a very different venue to Wembley. Wonder why they've made the switch to all seated this time? It will make for a very different atmosphere.
-
Yeah I agree, Hammersmith is a different atmosphere, but I guess I don't really see DT as the sort of the band who benefit greatly from having a standing area. Perhaps having it all seated might make it a smaller capacity and easier to sell out?
-
I think a band like DT are better served by having a standing audience, certainly at a venue like Wembley. People who want to sit can go sit in the tiers. Put it this way - I want to have the choice.
Anyway, we are where we are. I've just fought the frustrations of getting the Ticketma$ter website to load and got my ticket - block C4, to the left of the mixing desk, row 2. Sweet. I'm not paying £50 to be on the floor. Add me to the list - see ya there! :metal
-
Why the hell is it all seated? That's so lame.
-
Why the hell is it all seated? That's so lame.
succccccccks :(
-
+ how awkward is Periphery going to be with seats?!
-
+ how awkward is Periphery going to be with seats?!
Haha didn't think about that, should be interesting. Add me to the list anyway, I was going to wait till the end of the month to get my ticket but when I saw it was all seated I thought I'd better grab a seat near the front before they all sell out. Got an A4 seat 2 rows back, I've always been in front of JP when I've seen DT before so thought I'd mix it up and give JR and JM a shot!
-
+ how awkward is Periphery going to be with seats?!
:lol That's going to be weird.
-
I was really excited when they annouced a european tour, but was dissapointed when I found out it was all seating. Build me up, Break me down.
-
+ how awkward is Periphery going to be with seats?!
:| Strange is the word.
-
Section A3 Row 16. Brilliant \m/ :metal
-
Oh yeah forgot to mention, we booked our tickets. Row 12. Still sucks that it's not standing, but at least we'll have a great view!
-
still haven't booked mine, will have to do it in the coming days i expect. still annoyed that it's seating only but i guess i can't really judge it till after the concert!
-
I will most likely be going to this, but I need to wait until I claim back some expenses first as I'm a grand out of pocket currently!
-
I will be going to this. Might even fork out for a meet and greet :o
-
I may cross Europe and attend :)
Can you belive that it would be cheaper getting to London and Wembley than simply reaching one of the Italian venues?
-
For some places, I can totally believe that.
-
Doesn't seem to be selling too well at the moment, you can still get tickets in block A4.
-
I think it's still too early (more then 4 months) for people to decide for a gig instead of another, as the general offer of concerts, and tickets price, it's really high.
-
It's Dream Theater and Periphery. lol. The show will do good.
-
Perhaps, still a bit sceptical myself... :lol
-
Doesn't seem to be selling too well at the moment, you can still get tickets in block A4.
Doesn't mean much, blocks A2-4 are more expensive.
-
Booked, in C2 with a mate of mine.
-
I started to plan my trip for the wembley and manchester concerts, then watch the Manchester United - Liverpool game.... Oh, well.. It's SEATED! After watching the Wither video, I got so excited about going to wembley cause the crowd seemed crazy. Guess I might plan something else instead
-
I'm going, shall be me and my mum again. Just got her a "birthday present" when its more for me :lol
-
I'm going :metal
-
I was under the assumption that the front block would sell out near instantly, so I brought my ticket right way
-
Has anyone got their tickets yet?
-
Hey I will be there :) Anyone near block A2 ?
Still waiting for my tickets but this is normal
-

Still waiting for my tickets but this is normal
Thanks for the info, I'm in B2 I think. Waiting a bit longer to get my tickets obviously :P
-
I bought two batches of tickets, one ticket for myself from See Tickets and three for my family from Ticketmaster. The Ticketmaster three have arrived but I'm still waiting on the See Tickets one for me!
Also I'm in A4, one row from the front!
-
Perhaps, still a bit sceptical myself... :lol
So am i.
How's going so far?.

-

Same here mate, if I had only waited a few days to post I would have seen the dispatch xD
-
Got my tickets yesterday so quick :) Anyone fancy a DTF meet up?
-
Given that its now only 3 or so weeks away, does anyone have any clue what the attendance is looking like? We need to make it a crazy loud crowd for our Gods :hefdaddy
-
Not quite sure. The last couple of times it's been around 8000 I think.
-
Intrigued to see what the setlist is in Stockholm tonight, seeing as that if there is up to four different setlists, then we will definitely be getting setlist 'B' (providing its on a proper rotation).
Have to see the setlist anyway, I am going with a friend not familiar with DT and want to get a CD with a majority of the set on so he has an idea of the music!
-
Wembley hasn't sold out the last 2 times, and I don't think it will
in 2012.
It sold out in 2007 for Chaos in Motion.
It was curtained off two thirds of the way back, therefore not a sell out.
-
And there was huge capacity left even with it curtained off.
As big a fan as I am of Dream Theater, I can't really advocate their playing of Wembley Arena.
Still, perhaps the crowd size will justify the venue this time around.
-
Agreed, two nights at Hammersmith would be much better.
-
Well I know nothing is set in stone in regarding setlists but after watching Millais's TDEN vid in the Copenhagen thread, I really hope they play it in Wembley. I know generally it gets a lot of stick but it just looks like a really fun performance to witness live.
Also here's hoping for AIA as encore. Failing that, the mighty Metropolis :metal

I'm quite sure i remember Portnoy saying that.

I'm getting the tingles just thinking about it :')
-
Guys,
I've seen on some setlist sites that DT have been doing half normal and half acoustic sets?!?!?
Please tell me that they won't be playing an acoustic 2nd half at wembley!!! I wait all year to witness the full power that is DT and I'd be somewhat dissapointed to sit through acoustic versions some of my favorite songs :/
Billy
-
I've seen on some setlist sites that DT have been doing half normal and half acoustic sets?!?!?
Not half and half, out of the ~15 songs that they play, ~2/3 are acoustic.
-

Ah I see.. actually thinking about it.. I think its just the way the setlists are laid out on setlist.fm, I think the word "acoustic" is signalling that the silent man is acoustic... but they way it looks is as if the whole 2nd half of the show is acoustic!
-
Forget it... I'm a dumbass and didn't notice the break line under TSM and BTS :)
-
Still cant believe I managed to get me and my mate tickets for a3 row 6 one week before the show :D
Foook yeah
-
Mike will be hosting a fan meet and greet & signing session before Friday's gig at Wembley. The event will be held at WEMBLEY DRUM CENTRE (about 10 minutes walk from the venue) from 2pm - 3.30pm. Follow this link for further news !! https://www.wembleydrumcentre.com/centre/drum/promo/mike_mangini.aspx - Hope to see you there !! :hefdaddy :hefdaddy
-
So two days away then. Apart from being the first time seeing DT this is actually (embarassingly) my third time going to Landaaaan.
I'm heading up at about 12 to make a half day of it, grabbing some munch then cruising over to have my face well and truly melted. Going with three others too so should be overall a fantastic day.
I'm in Block A2 but like row 11 and the seats are right in the middle of the block. Worried that the view might not be much despite it being all seated...
-
Still cant believe I managed to get me and my mate tickets for a3 row 6 one week before the show :D
Foook yeah
:o
I also got a3 row 6 and I ordered the 29. september. From what I can see on ticketmaster.co.uk its pretty much sold out. As it should be. DT deserves full arena's everytime they play

Indeed only 119 seats left available. That is of course providing that they havent curtained off the very back blocks (The E blocks etc). Hope the people of Wembley are up for it Friday I certainly will be :metal
-
Seems like we're getting Setlist A now, mixed feelings in a way. Was looking forward to TDEN but TROAE is a better song altogether. Totally glad with BTS and TSM instead of WFS and FFH. My main gripe is swapping As I Am with Pull Me Under. I find PMU so annoying and overplayed. I know its their signature tune but hopefully we become sneaky 'C' setlistwith a Metropolis encore.
-
Personally, I'm delighted that we SHOULD get setlist A.
I've seen As I Am so many times, but never Pull Me Under (pretty incredible considering I've been to 13 shows, though I have seen it as part of the Pull Me Under/Metropolis medley). And I'd love to see TROAE again, I remember that being excellent live.
-
Personally, I'm delighted that we SHOULD get setlist A.
QFT. You never know what's gonna happen!
-
Most important question: Which pub are we meeting at before hand?
-
From the JR noisecreep interview (https://www.noisecreep.com/2012/02/09/dream-theater-grammy/):
Rudess added that the European shows have been off the chart, in particular, a recent performance in Paris. "I have to say, of all the shows I have played in this band, that Paris gig the other night was off the chart. The crowd, the band – it just could not have been any better."
Are we gonna stand by and let this happen? Or are we gonna RAAAAAAAAAAAWK?!? :metal
-
I CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW.
I'M AS GIDDY AS A SCHOOLBOY.
-
I'm sitting at work watching the snow.
Is it better to get to the station this afternoon to find that there are no trains to London and I miss the show, or is it better to get to the show and find that there are no trains and I can't get home? I'm too old to spend the night sleeping rough outside King's Cross!

Where I am in London the snow never really settled, you should be alright getting into London, it just depends if it's going to snow tonight during the gig.
-
Real excited now, gonna start the journey to London in about half an hour! ;D
-
See Wembley thousand times and right after you leave, your fave comes for a gig.... life is a bitch! :(

Seems like they actually have curtained off the very back blocks. Still it seems huge.
-
Me and ariich just arrived. Pretty decent view even from the back.
-
I'm here now, just waiting for Periphery to start. The very back is curtained off but most of the ground level seating is already pretty full. Rock'n'roll!
-
oh stop it guys... you're killing me now ....
-
Periphery needed less kick. Otherwise good set.
-
ok. thank you! hate you mods!
:p
have fun! :heart
-
Sorry. :p
Lifting shadows of a dream collapsing.
Bridges in the sky
6:00
Build me up, Break me down
Surrounded
The root of all Evil
Drum Solo
Fortune in lies
Outcry
The silent man
Beneath the surface
On the backs of angels
War inside my head
Test that stumped them all
Spirit carries on
Breaking all illusions
Pull me under
-
oh stop it guys... you're killing me now ....
indeed! hope you all had a great time. :metal
-
On the road home. Periphery were better than I thought they would be. Couldnt understand the singer though, going in with no prior knowledge of their songs. Also I'm pretty sure during their last song the singer said "Alright London its time to sit down as best you can", mocking the crowds unwillingness to give any feedback.
What can be said about DT? Everthing clicked tonight, they were well up for it, and luckily so were the crowd thank god.
Mike Mangini just makes the whole band happy, the drum solo was unbelievable.
A lot of people were filming, some guy in front of me even had a videolink to his girlfriend going on during ROAE.
10/10 mental night!
-
I was there. I was there. ;W;
A3, row 3. Or something. I know I was right up front, and John Petrucci was right there in front of me. Oh my god, it was such a dreamlike experience.
That was one hell of a show. The moment "The Test that Stumped Them All" started playing, I wanted to pass out from sheer joy. I love this band.
-
Labrie was beasting it.
-
Great quality video of TSCO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QbyvQtCTIM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
-
WOW!
I'm so glad I avoided setlist spoilers! 6:00!!! I'd never have predicted that! Surrounded! The Silent Man! The Spirit Carries On! Pull Me Under! A Fortune in Motherf*cking Lies! I nearly came in my pants. JP's solo on Breaking All Illusions was simply sublime - highlight of the show.
The band were on top form and yet again The Man Genie was man of the match - they just seem so re-invigorated! The sound mix was about as good as it gets for Wembley - for once I could make out every note.
But the big elephant in the room is the fact the venue was less than half full. Yes, the rear section was curtained off again, but the upper tiers were empty too. I can't see their UK promoter booking Wembley again - I wouldn't be surprised to see them back in a Hammersmith sized venue next time round, which would be a mixed blessing - on the one hand I'd rather see them in a smaller and more intimate venue, but on the other the band have clearly invested quite a bit in the new staging and light show (loved it, btw) and that really does need a larger venue to shine. The all-seating was a mistake, especially for those of us in aisle seats. Do people really need to go to the bar/toilet every other song??? Much as I enjoyed myself, I'm glad I made the trip to Leeds last year.
And I bought a key-ring - £3! w00t! :metal
And yes, the Periphery guy really couldn't sing, could he? And what was that bizzare Japanese version of "Black Dog" they played on the PA before the show? I've never laughed so much in my life!
-
oh I forgot that it was a seated gig... can't really see the point :-\
anyway that doesn't the change the fact that I'm extremely jealous.... *swears vengeance on XJ*
-
And what was that bizzare Japanese version of "Black Dog" they played on the PA before the show? I've never laughed so much in my life!
My exact thoughts when they played it before the Stockholm show. :lol
-
Well I really struggled to hear the Periphery singer anyway but I thought when he sang (not screamed) he sounded a bit like Jared Leto from 30 seconds to mars.
Really hope DT come back sooner rather than later though, regardless of the above post about the upper tiers and back sections being empty, I think DT were impressed with the crowd.
-
Listen to Periphery "Jetpacks Was Yes" Spencer Sotelo Can indeed Sing ..Very Well
At Manchester Thursday they didnt sound too good..but I put that down to the sound mix..he can Deffo sing.
https://www.myspace.com/periphery (https://www.myspace.com/periphery)
-
The mix wasnt too great at wembley either. Pity, because i think it damped the reaction a fair bit.
@obscure, you can take you vengence any time you like. :p
-
XJDenton - do you mean the mix for just Periphery or throughout the whole night? Because I personally thought DT sounded fantastic!! But with Periphery the vocals seemed to get completely lost in the other sounds!
-
the Periphery guy can sure as hell sing, he's actually pretty good imo.
tbh I'd prefer to see DT at a smaller venue, Sheperds Bush/Hammersmith Apollo rather than Wembley. and for goodness sake, without the seats.
glad everyone enjoyed it though, a few of my friends went and said that it was a great night. they also commented on how the atmosphere would've been better without seats but there you go...
Edit: one of my friends "The Spirit Carries On was just absolutely insane, incredibly insane"
-

Just Periphery. DT sounded phenomenal.

haha i think its funny. it must be hard/awkward to be a heavier band with everyone sitting

I think their main problems are that hardly anyone at the shows know them at all and from what I can see from others comments. whoever is doing their FOH mixing is doing a poor job of getting the vocals somewhere near a listenable level. Also, it's not very good saying there are CD's and T-Shirts of our band out the front and then slagging off the very people you want to buy your stuff five minutes later.
The guy is a tool to be honest.
-
well that's a bit ott.
-
well that's a bit ott.
Well as a support act, you have to remember no-one is there to see you. They are there to see the main event. A lot of people may have never even heard any of your stuff either. You have two jobs as a support act. One is to get the crowd all warmed up for the main guys. And two is to get yourself known and to impress people so much that they become fans of your as well.
They failed in both areas for mine. But that is just my opinion, I'm sure there are other people who think they are wonderful and that's cool too.
-
Well as a support act, you have to remember no-one is there to see you.
not true. I know a few of my friends were going specifically to see Periphery because they haven't been in the UK for ages and they are huge fans. Of course they stayed on for DT but they were there for Periphery especially.
You have two jobs as a support act. One is to get the crowd all warmed up for the main guys. And two is to get yourself known and to impress people so much that they become fans of your as well.

I'd say, from what I've heard, that they did a good job in getting the crowd warmed up for DT - they played Racecar, over 15 mins long and their most proggish accessible song. That's what got me into them. However, I can understand if they failed here. A seated arena really does not help - just watch the video of them playing Icarus Lives in Paris and contrast the crowd there (no seats) to the ones in the UK :-\
Meh, thinking about it now that does come off fairly stupid but it's only a light hearted joke in my mind. Being a seated venue it really didn't help.
-
The mix for DT wasn't that great. James could have been boosted and Jordan as well. Couldn't really hear myung at all ... mangini and petrucci where perfectly mixed though.
I also didn't think the seats made that much of a difference for DT everyone stood up anyway maybe for a band like Periphery it would have been better standing.
I also got a few songs recorded from the set list .... any requests?
-
I'm new to the forum, and quite new to the band, this was the first time to see them live. I really enjoyed it; as others have said here, the venue was perhaps not the best (seated, too big, poor sound compared to other places), but the band certainly put on a show. One question for those of you that have seen them more often: does LaBrie always spend so much of the set off-stage? It's not a criticism, and I guess it's tough to stand around during long instrumental parts, but it seemed to me he was off stage more than he was on...
Thx, RP

-
...does LaBrie always spend so much of the set off-stage?
Yes. They tried to get him a little more involved on stage a few years ago - mostly by banging on a tambourine - but they've since 'regressed' (or 'progressed', depending on your perspective) to having him leave the stage for many instrumental passages.

So are you planning to release an audio bootleg of the show :o
I don't plan on uploading the show, might though :) Away from computer for a month; my laptop wont edit any more videos or MP3 anyway so will see what I can do when I get back to my PC :D
@ 3rdday - Amazing photos, what camera?

Is THAT a JM Mic Stand?! :omg:
I believe that is his personal close up camera for the video screens.

It's his mic stand for when they do Lines in the Sand.

Oh man oh man, was that an awesome gig.
I haven't posted because I haven't had a lot of time :P. But it was the second time I've seen DT in less than 9 months, and by god I absolutely loved it! Seriously, can't wait for them to come to the UK again, because I am getting a ticket for all dates. Serious.
I almost had an orgasm during the spirit carries on.

I believe it is...a sign of things to come?
Oh please DT, come to Australia (announce the dates) and play Octavarium

Obviously this gig was a little while ago now, but I saw this thread and I thought I'd comment.
What I hated most about the seats was the fact that everyone sat through Periphery, and when DT came on, everyone stood up (defeating the point of having seats) and having the seats took away the vibe of being squashed up between people which I always like at gigs.
One thing I'd really like to ask is, did anyone notice JR sitting down at one point, I think maybe when JLB was talking, with his back to the audience? What was that about?
Anyone else here meet MM at Wembley Drum Center earlier during the day? I also bought some of his signature sticks and my god they are heavy as :censored. Anyway here are some pictures of me with the genie ;)
