Rules and Format:
--The total roulette will probably only last 5 rounds or so, but I may change that to add some of things are going well. As far as scoring goes, I've noticed people giving every submission 1-10 points based on how much they liked it. I'm gonna try and be a bit more competitive. Basically, every round will have clear winners and losers. For example, first place will get 8 points, second place 7, and so on.
--Before submitting anything, check my last.fm: https://www.last.fm/user/perpetualjoe. I'd recommending first using CNTRL+F to run a search and check through my band and song charts to make sure what you are submitting hasn't been listened to more than once or twice by me.
--Try and get a song to me at least within two days after the previous round is finished. I don't want to still be talking about this, especially since we're all going to be listening to DT and Opeth soon :P
--I prefer you use my e-mail to send me MP3s of songs: perpetualjoe@gmail.com. But if you are against that or something you can also just send youtube links as well. Keep in mind I might not like something as much if all I've heard is a shitty youtube quality vid, though.
--Finally, don't send me leaked stuff. ESPECIALLY from this month! :P
OK, that commences the first round! For this round, just send something you really like!
ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE?????
GO!
-
I have no idea what to send.
-
send him anthrax
-
Following.
-
Joe, would it be cool if I send my pick tomorrow?
Currently at a friend´s house, so I don't have access to my mp3-library, and overall it's just easier for me to send it tomorrow when I get home. :P
-
Sented.
-
No problem! So long as everyone sends everything within the next two days or so. I realize it may take a while to get the ball rolling.
-
Posting to keep track of things, will send today.
-
Just got home, will send in a few hours.
-
Cool. I haven't heard anything from Cup or Ravenheart. You guys still around?
-
Yes. It's sent as of a couple seconds ago.
-
Sent. Hope you like it.

Sent, hope you'll like it. :)

Just waiting on energythief!
-
Sent, sorry! Will be much faster from this point on. :)
-
Oh wait, still waiting on ytse. Where is he? I was all ready to submit my rankings and then realized Ytse's still made no contact with me. YTSE WHERE ARE YOU?
EDIT: Okay, since I have no idea where Ytse is and it's been a couple days, I'm replacing him with UMH!
-
Oh yeah, coming off of my first roulette victory, I'm back to kick some more ass.
SENT.

Great first round, guys. None of the submissions were bad, but some were better than others. Basically, the rankings work like this-- rather than me giving every song a 1-10 score, I rank the songs with the top one getting the most possible points (8) and the lowest one getting the least possible points (1). Of course, there's always a chance that there will be a tie when I can't decide what I like more, as had happened twice in this round.
First Place, 8 Points: H- Frost*, Hyperventilate
Wow, the intro to this song is really beautiful. What don’t I know about this band? Really liked what I heard with this submission. It was seven minutes long, but sadly it felt like it was over in 3. Which is saying a lot for me considering that it was an instrumental. Man, can’t get over how awesome this was. "Hyperventilate" is the perfect name for it, really! This album is definitely on my “to get” list.
Second Place, 7 Points: Zantera- Oceansize, Music for a Nurse
Glad you sent this, because I’ve had a lot of this bands’ albums sitting on my harddrive for ages and haven’t listened. Anyway, I really liked this a lot. It was really soothing, and reminded me a lot of what I like most about bands like Explosions in the Sky. It’d be number one if it were just a little bit more concise.
Third Place, 6 Points: Nick- Karmakanic, Send a Message From the Heart
Wow. Another great song. If length were everything, Nick would have won this round. However, in this instance, Nick’s length may have proven disadvantageous to him. This song has a great beginning and huge pay-off, but there’s a lot in the middle I still haven’t digested yet simply because it’s two times as long as the next longest submission. This may very well wind up being my favorite song from this round when all is said and done, but I’m not really capable of digesting epics fast enough to tell for now, so I’ve gotta give it third place.
--tied with--
Third Place, 6 Points: Zander- Nightingale, Dreamreader
Heh, I was not expecting Zander to bring the metal but he did. I like this a lot. Nice, melodic, good lyrics, catchy, etc. There was also a tasty synth solo in there. What pushed it over the edge, though, was the piano interlude. The thing that draws me to metal isn’t flash or bullshit riffing, but the incredible sense of melody that so many metal bands seem to have. By that criteria, this was pretty much perfect.
Fifth Place, 4 Points: Ariich- Thrice, For Miles
This is another band I’ve known I need to check out for awhile. Overall, I thought it was a solid song but not much about it really reeled me in. Maybe it was the production was part of the problem? When I was listening to it, I noticed there were a lot of cool parts going on that I felt like I simply could not hear because they were buried or the guitars were too loud or something. But anyway, I liked the melodies. It made me think of the Deer Hunter a little bit, actually. Is that ridiculous?
--tied with—
Fifth Place, 4 Points: MasterShakezula- King Crimson, Happy Family
As a big classic prog fan, I’ve always known KC were a band that I needed to give more time to. I’ve heard ITCOTKC and love it, but not much else. Anyway, this song is apparently from a very different era than the aforementioned album and, while it’s good, I wasn’t really a big fan of the vocals or the flute. God, I hate flutes. Otherwise, pretty good! I can’t say its put KC much higher on my list of bands to get more into, but it’s definitely reminded me that I might like them more if I try.
Seventh Place, 2 points: UMH- The Cat Empires, Fishies
An interesting pick that I was not expecting at all from the UltimateMetalHead. I guess the thing I liked least about it is I really dislike horns in rock music (in addition to the aforementioned flutes). This song wasn’t bad by any means, it was just nowhere near my favorite from this round.
Eight Place, 1 points: Four Points: Energythief- Live, I Alone
Listening to this song brought back vague memories of hearing it on the radio. Never seriously listened to it before, though. Anyway, it was pretty good, but I didn’t really feel connected to it or drawn to it in any way.
H- 8
Zantera- 7
Nick- 6
Zander- 6
Cup- 4
Ariich- 4
UMH- 2
ET- 1
Remember, if your score is low it doesn't mean I didn't like it! It just means that it didn't rank up as well compared tot he other submissions. I wanted to do things this way to make it more competitive. Don't worry, this is definitely still anyone's game!
OK- for the next round we're doing happy songs. I'm in the mood for happy metal lately so that might be something to consider, provided my mood doesn't change by the time you send your submission! :justjen
-
Hayden sends that song in every single roulette he's in. :lol
It's a fantastic song though. Love Frost*
-
Hey, if it works, then keep using it, right?
-
yeah I guess so! :lol

Glad you liked the Nightingale song. :tup

Oh applesauce.
Happy metal...I'll get right on that.

in this instance, Nick’s length may have proven disadvantageous to him [...] there’s a lot in the middle I still haven’t digested yet
Oh the power of the ellipsis -- sig'd.

Happy metal or just happy music in general?
The reason I'm asking is because most of the music I have is depressive, so I'll probably have to dig deep on this one.

Hayden was 100% correct in sending that song every time. I discovered Frost* like a week ½ ago, so glad I did.

Sent, though this round is pretty much my kryptonite. :P
Hope I wont do too bad.

Don't worry man. I just didn't want my roulette to take an entire month. You shoulda told me you were going away, and I woulda put if off for a couple days.
Anyway, waiting on Ravenheart, Cup, Energythief, and Ariich. Try and send something within 24 hrs if you can, guys!

Wow, this round was tough. I literally liked all the submissions except for one, so if you only got a couple points don’t be discouraged. Aside from Explorer’s Club I liked everything, just not equally! I also tried to be more decisive this round, not allowing as many ties and such.
First place, 8 Points: Ariich- The Flower Kings, Chickenfarmer Song
This song was really good. You’re right, that I’ve never listened to TFK before, and now I realize I’ve been missing out. I coulda sworn Nick was going to win this round, but then this song came along and pretty much kicked my ass.
Second Place, 7 Points: Nick- Pendragon, As Good as Gold
This song definitely had the good, positive vibes going on. I liked it a lot. I haven’t heard much Pendragon, and what I have heard I haven’t especially liked, but this submission inspired to give what I do have of theirs another chance. The first time I listened to it I thought it was good, but the second time the melodies stuck out even more and it was even more apparent how cool of a song it is. Loved the piano at the end, too, though I have a feeling something more melancholic is on the way. This might be an eventual album purchase for me! :D
Third Place, 6 Points: Cupster- Gamma Ray, The Last Before the Storm
I thoroughly enjoyed MasterShakez submission this round. It definitely had that uplifting metal vibe going on, which is just what I was looking for. Aside from when Jeff was on Nick’s show, I don’t think I’ve heard much of this band, but I do like it quite a bit. The pick also prompted me to watch a live version in the side-bar. Was very impressed with what I saw from their Wacken performance. Will definitely be looking into this band more later!
Fourth Place, 5 points: Ravenheart- Tori Amos, Happy Phantom
I love piano, so this song was a big hit with me even though it wasn’t metal at all. It took a couple tries to fully digest it but once I did it was well worth it. The strongest point though was obviously the lyrics, and once I felt like I could follow them I enjoyed it even more.
Fifth Place, 4 points: Zantera- The Pineapple Thief, 3000 Days
Another really nice prog-oriented pick. Loved the mellotron (is that what it was?) action going on here. Another great plus for this song was the lyrics. I felt like it lost a bit of its stride during the heavy break-down, though. If things would have been reigned back in more at the end if would have been better, but instead they give us just a taste. Anyway, still another solid submission from Zantera.
Sixth Place, 3 points: Energythief- Manowar, Carry On
Heh. I love what I’ve heard of Manowar. I only know one or two albums, though. But, anyway, this submission was just what I was looking for. And again, beneath all the cheese and machismo and whatnot here were some very good melodies which, again, is I think something a lot of metal has though unfortunately the world doesn’t seem to acknowledge that aspect of it. The 80’s production and obvious cheese did not keep me from enjoying this song at all! “Rawr, we’re all together! Let’s sing a fighting song!”
--Tied with--
Sixth Place, 3 points: Ultimetalhead- Pyschostick, It’s Just a Movie Stupid
This song definitely brought the lols. Not exactly “happy” but still pretty funny, which is also pretty rare in metal. The lyrics were definitely the strongest part, I loved the dynamic between the cheesey love story and the BULLSHIT, BULLSHIT part. This one wasn’t the best, but it was certainly solid enough to get the job done.
Eighth Place, 1 point: H- Explorer’s Club, Fate Speaks
Eek, this song started out decent with Steve Howe’s acoustic guitar and John’s solo, but it went downhill as soon as the vocals came in. What I didn’t like about it was how repetitive it was. Usually prog-epics might be long, but you don’t keep hearing the same chorus and verse over and over again. Well, I couldn’t say the same about this song. It wasn’t all bad, though. Someone, I think it was John, had a good solo at the 8 minute mark. But man that riff was just too repetitive. The Explorers Club could probably write good shorter songs, but as a prog epic this one was long but ultimately fell flat due to lack of any real girth. Anyway, I’d been wondering if I should check out Explorer’s Club for awhile, and now I have my answer!
The current rankings are as follows-
Nick- 6+7 = 13
Ariich- 4 + 8 = 12
Zantera- 7 + 4= 11
Ravenheart- 6 + 5= 11
Cup- 4 + 6 = 10
H- 8 + 1= 9
UMH- 2 + 3 = 5
ET- 1 + 3 = 5
The next round is the “mid-term” since my roulette is about half-over now. I want something epic or something that makes me feel a sense of accomplishment, so interpret that as you will. Points will be doubled for this round!

But he'll have to be disqualified for sending a whole album.
And also sending something that isn't officially out yet and therefore breaking the rules in your OP.
So he'll be not only disqualified but also killed.

I guess no one caught it, but Epidural is a 74-minute-long bass communion song using only two samples.

Nearly great submissions all around this time.
I literally could not rank them so I’m breaking up scoring this rank into tiers. There were literally that many ties.
Winner- 16 Points
H- Spock’s Beard, Wind at My Back
This was a really good, powerful song. I obviously love Transatlantic and have also loved the couple NM albums I’ve heard, so it’s no surprise that I like this so much. Neal’s sense for great vocal melodies is as strong as anything here, and I’ve gotta say I do miss his less “forward” lyrics. Between last round’s winner, The Flower Kings, and this round’s, Spock’s Beard, I’m feeling like I’m definitely going to have to get more into the “roots” of Transatlantic. Since they’re a favorite band, it’s a wonder why I haven’t already.
“First Tier”- 12 points Submissions
Cup- Renaissance, Mother Russia: Woah, this was really cool and folky. I liked it quite a bit. What is there, where is it from, etc…? I really gotta check this out. Loved the girl singer.
Nick- Threshhold, Pilot in the Sky of Dreams: This song takes a couple minutes to get going, but when it does boy does it ever. Around 2 minutes in, this song jumps into hyperdrive and keeps it there until the finish some 7 minutes later. I really liked this song quite a bit, so it’s a surprise I haven’t gotten into this band yet. I’ve wanted to check them out ever since hearing Ayreon’s ITEC—but apparently this singer isn’t the same as the one who guest starred on the Ayreon album. Anyway, great pick.
Ariich- Russian Circles, Carpe: A solid pick! I’m not a huge fan of instrumental music, but I did like this quite a bit. Elsewise, not sure what to say. I’m starting to get weary of writing all these paragraphs!
“Third Tier”- 8 Point Submissions
Ravenheart- Odyssey, Amon Ra: Man, Zander, you have a great sense for songs with good melodies. This is another song which brings metal to the fore-front without abandoning melody, which is exactly what I’m looking for.
Ultimetalhead- Nevermore, Godless Endea: Like this quite a bit. I’ve really been waiting for UMH to bring the metal and, finally, here it is! Really good stuff. I listened to it and ranked it like 3 days before doing this write-up, so I’ve gotta go listen again.
Zantera- Agalloch, Fire Above, Ice Below: Liked this song quite a bit. This definitely was an “epic”, and the beginning kind of reminded me of a Western or something like that. The only problem was, it kinda took a bit longer to “get there” than some of the other submissions. While it started out really strong and ended on an equally good note, there was some meandering there in the middle that kinda sucked *some* of the energy out for me. This definitely seems like a “winter” album so I’m going to be checking it out for-sure as I get into more of my wintery death/black/doom metal mood.
Last Place: 4 Points
Energy Thief- Green Day, Jesus of Suburbia
I don’t really like Green Day very much, but none-the-less I wanted to give this submission an honest try, and that I did. Overall, I wasn’t very impressed with it. That’s because the best parts sounded like stuff I’ve heard elsewhere in the annals of Classic Rock. The second part reminded me so much of “Those Were the Best Days of Our Lives” and the finale sounded like “Ring of Fire.” This seems to be a big problem for Green Day lately . Sorry, ET. There’s still a couple rounds left though!
That puts as here:
Nick- 6+7 + 12= 25
H- 8 + 1 + 16= 25
Ariich- 4 + 8 + 12= 24
Cup- 4 + 6 + 12= 22
Zantera- 7 + 4 + 8= 19
Ravenheart- 6 + 5 +8= 19
UMH- 2 + 3 + 8= 13
ET- 1 + 3 + 4= 8
A big return of form for H and Cup. But this is still anyone’s game. Well, mostly.
My roulette is almost over. For the next round, gimmie some dark and depressing.

DAMMIT.
Remember Joe, I had even thought of sending you that Spock's Beard song in the previous round and had decided against it.

Ouch, I'm apparently on the wrong board based on my lack of roulette success so far!
Sent another hail mary pass. :)

Setn.

You know if Cup was in my roulette he would've kicked ass. Most of the songs I see him send in roulettes I love. :lol

I haven't been online all weekend. Gimme a chance to cook something up.
-
Just waiting on a couple more.
And haven't stopped listening to ADTOE yet. Will find some time to do so today ;)
-
I'M A TERRIBLE PERSON SORRY
My excuse is that my time has been taken up with a combination of the following:
- Studying for final exams
- Listening to ADTOE
- Dates
So I'm sure you'll understand where my priorities have been. :P I'll get a song to you tonight hopefully, or tomorrow at the latest.
-
Why do you have final exams in September?
-
To be honest, I think Rich could save a lot of time by: listening to ADTOE while studying for exams, WHILE being on a date.
Talk about a massive time-saver! :tup
-
Why do you have final exams in September?
They're in November, but we need to learn all the stuff now and I have two 3.5 hour practice exams tomorrow. :| It's not uni/college, it's part of my professional qualification to become a chartered accountant.
To be honest, I think Rich could save a lot of time by: listening to ADTOE while studying for exams, WHILE being on a date.
Talk about a massive time-saver! :tup
:lol Well, ADTOE + studying has been happening since yesterday. I think throwing the dating into the mix would work too, maybe I'll try it.
-
I think it could work!
Randomly during the date, you would just be like "DAT KEYBOARD SOLO!" ;)
-
Or just half way through dinner.
"How's the pork?"
"SHAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAN TAAAAAAAAAAAKE MYYYYYYYYYYYYY HAAAAAAAAAAAND"
-
Great stuff!
Joe, how's it going with this round, still waiting on songs from anyone?
-
Yeah, me. :lol
-
Sent. Bit of a curveball this time, but it's one of my favourite pieces of music so I hope you dig it!
-
Cup hasn't sent anything yet. Since it's been a week since the third round, he better send something soon.

Winner, 8 Points:
Ravenheart- Alice in Chains, Nutshell
Never really given this band their due, and this proves I was always wrong not too. Loved this. Do AiC have a lot of acoustic songs like this? I found this to be really moving, and want to hear more.
Runner-up, 7 Points:
Zantera- The Tallest Man on Earth, Love is All
Really great finger-style guitar playing here, which is awesome because that’s the style that I’m currently most interesting to learn. It sounds like Bob Dylan could have written this is he would have kept doing the folk things and never moved into rock and blues. Another great submission!
Third Place- 6 Points
Energythief- Nine Inch Nails, The Wretched
I really liked everything about this but the vocals in the beginning. As things picked up, though, it got a lot better. Good submission, ET!
Fourth Place, 5 points
Cup- New World Sympony, Second Movement
Really liked this quite a bit. Out of the two classical pieces, this was my favorite. But both were very good.
Fifth place, 4 points
Rich- Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No 2
I do actually like classical music quite a bit. The problem is, there’s so much of it that I don’t know what to go for a lot of times. Then, whenever I rip a CD onto my computer it always scrobbles the conductors name or else the orchestras, so it might not show. Regardless, I liked this quite a bit!
All the following songs were good, but I couldn’t rank them, so I gave each 3 points:
Nick- Evergrey, Words Mean Nothing
This song was definitely depressing. Almost too depressing for me to relate with, actually. I still like it quite a bit, though. It had good atmosphere and melody which, again, is exactly what I’m looking for. Unfortunately, I just didn’t like this as much as other selections.
Ultimetalhead- Superior, Fallen
I liked the music here, but I was really digging either of the voices. This song sounded sort of “broadway” to me, which I’m not a fan of. But otherwise, it was pretty good.
H- Don McClean, Empty Chairs
Another nice folky acoustic song with finger picking. I liked Zantera’s issue slightly better, but this was also really nice. Again, great song, just wasn’t as good as others.
Nick- 25 + 3 = 28
H- 25 + 3 = 28
Ariich- 24 + 4 = 28
Cup- 22 + 5 = 27
Ravenheart- 19 + 8 = 27
Zantera- 19 + 7 = 26
UMH- 13 + 3 = 16
ET- 8 + 6 = 14
Well, it looks like the next round is anyone’s game.
It’s also the final round.
Everyone, hit me with your best shot.
-
If you want to know who wrote NWS, it's Antonin Dvorak.
The entire NWS (All 4 movements!) is awesome, IMO! When my HS wind ensemble and orchestra played it at the end of last year, I had the time of my life, even though my part (timpani) was mainly a few scattered rolls and some loud hits every now and then. Counting rests can be a real joy, if the music in those rests is really enjoyable to listen to while counting the rests.
-
:heart
Check out their EP Jar of Flies. It's all very melancholic acoustic music similar to Nutshell.
-
Looks like most of us have a shot at the win.

Glad that you liked Tallest Man on Earth! :D

Sent. Sorry. I had to search far and wide for a song I felt confident in.
-
Finally, this is over :P
Anyway, you all did a great job. Things were really close, but in the end it was the person who won this round who won it all.
First place, 8 points: Ravenheart- Dan Swano, Add Reality
Woah, this was really good. The vocals jarred me at first, but I eased into them really easily. What a great song with a great melody. In fact, I think I’m going to dub you, Zander, the master of melody. You have really submitted some of the most melodious songs in my roulette. I really appreciate it! Good job, man!
Second Place, 7 Points: Energytheif- Nevermore, Dreaming Neon Black
Really cool song here. Nice melodies, emotional, etc… very good pick. Some really nice vocal harmonies here, too. Really liked it. Another really solid pick, ET. If you had known my tastes better from the getgo you probably would have done better in my roulette!
Third Place, 6 points- Shakes- Wishbone Ash, Argus
Really strong song here, as most of your selections have been. This really obscure prog metal has been really enjoyable. Where do you find this stuff? Anyway, I liked it a lot. Not as good as some other submissions, but still really good. I can’t figure out why you haven’t been doing well in other roulettes. Almost everything you’ve sent me has been really good and unique.
Fourth Place, 5 points- Ariich- Amorphis, Silver Bride
Oh man, this was another good, really moody song. Instrumentally, I love it. Vocally, it was just a wee wee bit off. Nothing that would phase me normally, but this is the final round so I gotta be strict! Anyway, great pick Rich, as most of your picks have been!
Fifth Place, 4 points: Nick- Neal Morse, Children of the Chosen
Hadn’t heard this song, but since my love of Neal Morse and Transatlantic and Hayden’s winning Spock’s Beard submission have made my love of him apparent, Anyway, it was good, but not the best Neal Morse I’ve heard. In fact, it seems like he revisted some of these melodies in Seeds of Gold—just in a better way. Anyway, another good pick! Not the best, but good!
Sixth Place, 3 points: Ultimetalhead- Dog Fashion Disco, The Hitchhiker
Really good song. Not my favorite, but not bad by any means! Got a little weird in the middle there, but still enjoyable! Really glad you decided to come in last minute and all! Have definitely opened my ears to some music I had heard before!
Seventh Place, 2 points: H- OSI, Shutdown
Oh man, OSI. The band I kinda like, but kinda doubt, and have never given a full chance. Ultimately, I have the same issue with this I have with the other OSI stuff I’ve heard. I like it musically, but Kevin’s vocals are just… meh. He’s not a singer! Even though he kinda sounds like Steve Wilson here! Kinda… I remember hearing this band was supposedly going to have Daniel Gildenlow on vocals… man, what a world that would have been. Anyway Hayden knew I didn’t like OSI much, but sent this anyway. It was courageous of him, but unfortunately it may have lost him the round. It’s okay, though, you’ve sent a lot of good stuff and I’m glad you were a part of my roulette!
Eighth place, 1 point: Zantera- Thrice, Digging My Own Grave
Ariich had submitted this band earlier, and I wasn’t too into it. Well, this time, unfortunately, I felt the same. I guess I’m just not into thrice. I didn’t hate it, didn’t even dislike it, it just wasn’t my favorite by anymeans. Anyway, most of your picks were amazing. Even though you got last here, you were a great player and I will be checking out several of the artists you’d suggested to me.
Ravenheart- 27 + 8 = 35
Ariich- 28 + 5 = 33
Cup- 27 + 6 = 33
Nick- 25 + 4 = 32
H- 28+2=30
Zantera- 26 + 1= 27.
E- 14 + 7 = 21
UMH- 16 + 3 = 19
Now, I guess it’s time to lock this and give Ravenheart what he deserves, Rich—a bolded out username in the annals of the song roulette tracker thread, to be seen by posters until the end of time or the next board crash. In addition, I will now purchase an album of your choosing and post photographic evidence of having made the purchase (eventually), as a token proving that your participation in my roulette has truly inspire me to check out an artist that you really like. So just write what you want me to get here, or PM me, and I'll do it!
Thanks for playing everyone. You ALL were winners in my opinion!

Dude, thanks to you I've already just checked out Oceansize, which is your purpose on this earth or something ;) Don't feel too sad!
I dunno, I just can't get into thrice. Ariich submitting them earlier and it didn't do to well for him either.
-
Have you heard the new album?
-
Just the single. Again, wasn't really blown away unfortuantely.
-
Yellow Belly? That's probably the worst song on that album. :lol Check it out dude, I'm sure you'll like it.
-
Yellow Belly is not the worst!
If I had to pick one, I would probably say Cataracts or Blur, but I still really like those.
-
Cataracts is awesome! wtf man
-
I finally won one! :D

Hey man, that was fun. Thanks for letting me participate!
Probably would have done better if I'd checked your last.fm before round 3 or whenever. :)
-
Yeah it was a shame you didn't dig Thrice, but no matter, glad you liked everything else I sent!
Definitely give a full Amorphis album a listen at some point, I can see what you mean about the vocals being a bit odd at first, but once you get used to them he's a really fantastic vocalist!
