Simple enough question; who would win?

I think Goke would definately win SS2 and up.
But normal Goku/SS1 vs Superman would be a more interesting/even fight

SS3 Goku.

Vegeta would win this in about 5 seconds, since he would just get a bunch of kryptonite and push it down Superman's throat.
Goku SS2 or SS3 would do the job too, but he would take more time.

I chose Goku, but it depends on the point in the series.
Goku at the beginning DBZ would get killed by Superman. Not that fast or with energy attacks that good.
After King Kai's initial training, Goku still wasn't quite there. Like, he was fast and had the Kai-Ken, but his energy had to run out at some point. Even if he fired the beam with enough energy to destroy Earth (like he did to counter Vegeta's galic-gun), Superman could easily just run around it and kill Goku with a well-placed punch to the Stomache.
But once Goku trained on the ship at 100x gravity, things started to shift. His speed had become just as Super-human as Superman's, and he was developing the strength and absurd energy attacks to match. I'd still say you could argue this though.
But once he got out of the rejuvenation tank, he was battling Freiza, an opponent stronger than Superman, semi-competitively. And once he goes Super Saiyan I don't see how it's a debate anymore.

I'm rooting for Goku, but unfortunately since Superman's powers seem to be "being invincible and having fucking every other power ever", he might be at a bit of a disadvantage.

They didn't. His powers have well defined limits in the original comics and in any comic series that treats him well.

I actually took the time to recreate Goku and Superman with the City of Heroes character builder (or as close as I could). It was around the time I started putting together damage rotation's and calculating each person's average damage per second against the other's defenses and resistances (including and not including temporary damage/defense buffs) that I decided I'm not a dedicated enough nerd to do this shit.
But, really. Goku was going to win.

I'm pretty sure Goku wouldn't need kryptonite. Hell, Vegeta wouldn't need it either. In fact, Majin Vegeta could probably take out Superman without breaking a sweat.

I don't know who Goku is, so I looked him up on wikipedia.
After reading that, I still vote for Superman, and I suspect that anyone who disagrees doesn't know as much about Superman as they think.

Superman, because the writers can conveniently create a "super spirit bomb," or a "super kamehameha" or a "super super saiyan 42" where Superman turns into a giant blonde monkey that's invulnerable to everything except lime green kryptonite (more sour than regular green kryptonite) and who's tail is made of heat vision.

Dragonball was a lot of fun. Dragonball Z, yeah, it got pretty dumb. Even as a kid I thought it was hilarious how they spent God-knows-how-long showing Goku fighting Freiza and then Trunks comes in and kills him and Cooler in like five minutes. And how Vegeta was almost always the first one to die. Villain decay to the max. :P

Because what's a better way to show that a bad guy is strong and a menace than by beating down on one of the tough guys of the show?

If somebody's always being beaten up though, it's hard to perceive them as tough.

The thing with Vegeta was, that almost always they brought him back and he beat the hell out of the guy who first beat him. So I guess he saved face somewhat with that.

Well that's to be expected, considering that Vegeta's a Saiyan. The closer they come to death, the stronger they become when they get back to full health.
Goku does that same thing. It's how he trained on his flight to Namek; he trained himself to near death, then relaxed and gave himself time to heal, and came back way more powerful than before.

I voted Superman for 2 reasons. First off, Goku has died a couple of times while Superman only almost died. Second, the guy can freaking fool everyone around by wearing a suit and glasses! You can't ever beat that.
