Don't include quotations in any of the things I ask you to type:
Go to start> run. Type in 'cmd'. You'll get the command prompt. Type in 'ping www.google.com', post the results. Then try 'tracert www.google.com' and post as well. It doesn't need to be google, any website you're having trouble accessing will work.

You mean DTF is not enough?
The only thing I can think of is that your DNS got screwed and can't resolve any addresses except DTF which you might have in your local resolver cache. If restarting didn't help the problem is probably in your DNS server. Try the following:
- Go to Start, Run and type "cmd" to bring up a DOS prompt
- Type ipconfig /all and write down the IPs that show for your primary and secondary DNS (for example 123.123.123.123)
- Try to ping them by typing "ping 123.132.123.123" and see if it gives you a time out or a response.
- Post the results
-
Ping request could not find host www.google.com. Please check the name and try again. :|

Won't let me copy and paste give me a minute.

The address he will get is probably just his router's address. The actual DNS information would be in the router most of the time.

Alright, so now try to 'ping 74.125.91.106'. One of google's IPs.

Alright, so we can ping google's IP but not google itself. Your ping is a little high, you may want to contact your ISP.
Anyway, go to start, run, type in 'netsh winsock reset', click ok and reboot your computer.
-
Rightio will do, thanks.
-
Yeah as Genowyn says the DNS is your router so I wasn't of much help there :(
You can ping Google's IP just fine though so it looks as if your DNS is down. I'll leave it in the hands of Genowyn, I graciously bow out of here now.
-
Jon just called, he can't get on DTF now either. He says thanks for the help anyway Xanthul
-
Then he should probably call his ISP. If he can access his router's firmware and find where the DNS information is in there, try replacing with 8.8.8.8 for the primary and 8.8.4.4 for the secondary.

Thaaaanks. Back on! :metal Appreciate it mate. How come before it let me stay on DTF if my DNS died.
-
DTF secretly blocks the access to the rest of the internet so you never leave this site ever again. I'm calling Fox News about this.
-
Thaaaanks. Back on! :metal Appreciate it mate. How come before it let me stay on DTF if my DNS died.
Basically that's because your computer remembered the IP that was associated with DTF for some reason. Resetting the winsock probably screwed that up, sorry :lol
Right now you're on Google's DNS, you may want to contact your ISP and tell them you're having trouble with the DNS servers they provide.

Strangely, I'm cool with that.
