"According to the official Red Hot Chili Peppers website (and Fleas Twitter), their new album will be called I’m With You. A released date also been given for the 30th of August. The track The Adventures of Raindance Maggie will be the first single off the album, and we should see it appear around the 18th of July."

John Frusciante left in 2009.
-
Wow, I guess I should follow RHCP news a little more closely. Damn.
-
Yeah, with John gone I don't find myself particularly excited.
-
Meh... ;) never really getting interested what RHCP is doing, but I would be nice to have some nice songs on new album ;)
-

This.
-
I'm kinda excited to see what Josh can bring to the table. I was kind of disapointed with the last two albums
Also seems like there will be more piano on this album according to Wikipedia...
-
I still have Stadium Arcadium somewhere in my closet. Not burned to my computer...never liked it.
By The Way is an amazing album, though. I need to listen to it again soon, brings back fond memories.
-
Here's a chance to listen to the new song, in case anyone's interested:
https://kroq.radio.com/2011/07/15/kroq-exclusive-world-premiere-of-the-red-hot-chili-peppers-new-single-the-adventures-of-rain-dance-maggie-from-their-upcoming-album-im-with-you/2/ (https://kroq.radio.com/2011/07/15/kroq-exclusive-world-premiere-of-the-red-hot-chili-peppers-new-single-the-adventures-of-rain-dance-maggie-from-their-upcoming-album-im-with-you/2/)
-
Is their new guitarist at least any good?
-
I dunno. The song didn't seem to feature much of him. Or much of anything. I hope the rest of the album's more energetic.
-
Well, I like the album art. It makes no sense to me, but that's why I like it, I guess.
-
Is their new guitarist at least any good?
He was apparently hand-picked by John or something.
-
I didn't care for Stadium Arcadium back when it came out. Without Frusciante, not holding out much hope. I might check it out.
-
I dug the song. It was OMFGAMAZING but it was good bordering on very good.
-
The new song is good but not as catchy as the past first singles.
-
I can see them building on that. Not incredible, but a solid single. Looks like I'll add this'll kick off my September 2011 Music Buying Extravaganza (Help All My Money Is Gone).
-
New song is OK. Flea's bass work is freaking awesome as usual, and the drums always match well with it. Guitar sounds solid, as does Anthony...not a band song, but it's like standard RHCP at this point.
-
I is excite!@
-
I actually really liked stadium arcadium. It's really not my music but that album just does it for me somehow. I really liked by they way as well.
-
I didn't dislike it, but something is missing to me.
-
Loved a lot of the tracks on SA, we'll see what the new albums like :) RHCP's rawk!!!
-
'Police Station' is so :heart :hefdaddy.
Haven't given the full album a proper listen yet, but what I heard I liked.
-
Album is growing on me. I think it's their best since Californication.
Some of my favs are Brendan's Death song, Ethiopia, did i let you know, goodbye hooray, police station, and meet me at the corner.
Concert tonight on Fuse!

-
Wait...it's out?!?!?!
edit: Yes it is! Sweet!
-
Listening to the new albums now. Digging the first two songs. RHCP have a knack for making catchy choruses.
-
If only they would make a Blood Sugar Sex Magik II eh..
-
That album is so funky.
-
It's no Californication but I still like it. Can't get enough of 'police station'.
-
Ethiopia is Danny California v.2
Listen to the chorus of each.
-
Too bad Stadium Arcadium was pretty meh. Dani California wasn't that bad though.
-

Besides being a blatant Tom Petty rip-off, to the point of being charged for it.
-

John Frusciante left in 2009.
maybe now they'll get a guitar player who can play live and doesn't have unlistenable live tone.
-
I really didn't think Stadium Arcadium was all that bad. I was one of my most anticipated albums back in the day and it certainly didn't disappoint me at all really.
-

Didn't know that. Then SA has even less value.

Yea it was a big deal back in 2006/2007. It was all over the radio/TV/internet.
Which brings me to something I was thinking about. If it weren't for the fact that I go online a lot, I wouldn't even know that RHCP even had a new album out. I haven't heard much on radio or TV, or from people I know. Back in 2006 when SA came out, it was everywhere. I think times have changed a lot in the last few years, or maybe the Chili Peppers lost some momentum after taking a hiatus. Thoughts?
-
This album is growing on me. I personally liked Californication and Stadium Arcadium more, but this is a good one. Just not sure it was worth a five-year wait.

I think they definitely lost momentum, they used to be pretty big. Haven't heard that much about the new album either.
-
I can't get Factory of Faith out of my head!

Dani California is an awesome awesome song. The title track also. But everything else just didn't stick at all. RCHP can be hit or miss with me, but when they hit, they hit really hard.
Californication and By the Way (and the two newer songs on their greatest hits) for me, with the classics from the older albums.
-
I'm With You is a solid 3.5 / 5 the whole way through. No songs aren't fantastic, but there aren't any I would skip.
Worth the $10 I guess. No bassist makes you bob your head like Flea.
-
Gave the new album a lot of listens now and I like it a lot more. It's still not as good as most of their old work but it's a great effort and I really enjoy it.
-
I love the new album. Like, love love. As in better than Blood Sugar Sex Magic...
*runs away*

Better than Blood Sugar Sex Magic?? oh mannn
-
I love the melody driven funk as opposed to the funk funk funk funk funk funk funk of BSSM. Besides Under The Bridge and Breaking the Girl, there aren't any times I really want to sing at the top of my lungs. I'm With You is definitely my AOTY so far.
-
New album came out last week. The getaway
(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/ae/Thegetawayalbum.jpg)
I've listened to it once so far and I like it. Fairly chill which is exactly what my mood is asking for lately.
-
It's not produced by Rick Rubin either which makes me wanna check it out.
-
Only heard Dark Necessities. Like it. But it sounds like a slowed down Can't Stop.
Will check out the full album soon. Always love me some RHCP.
-
I've heard it twice now. There's nothing that really blew me away on there but it's still good, and feel like it's going to get better over time. Dark Necessities is probably the best one. Dreams of a Samurai is cool too, escpecially the 5/4 bass line.
-
It's a very nice album, nothing particularly exciting though. As Phoenix says, it's pretty chill.
-
Just a great live version of Under the Bridge from 2003:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxA4JnxlMaM
What an amazing song that is, the whole album is.

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/red-hot-chili-peppers-part-ways-with-guitarist-josh-klinghoffer-welcome-back-john-frusciante/
-
I know fans are going to go ape-shit about this and think it's the greatest thing ever but Josh was actually bringing in new influences and ideas. Going back to John feels like a regression and not something I'm all that excited about.
-
I'm happy, the best RHCP albums IMO all feature him on guitar. I had no issues with Josh, but their last two albums are hit or miss.
-
I've listened to the last 2 albums once each and never had any interest to go back. I'm sure Josh is a nice guy and I wish him the best, but Frusciante is what I want.
-
Since I'm on week 5 of working from home, I've been watching/listening to tons of full concerts on Youtube during the day. Yesterday I had RHCP's Live at Slane Castle on. I bought that on DVD probably 15 years ago, but it's got to have been at least a decade since I've watched it. Man, what a show that was. Great set list, cool solos, awesome energy. That's how a DVD should be filmed.

I hadn't seen this since my college roommate had the DVD and we watched it in 2004, so yea about 15 or so years for me as well. I just put it on.

Their cover of Havana Affair is soooo good. I love Flea's trumpet solo as well.

Stumbled upon Brun Mars and Peppers half-time show from 2014. It's such a unlikely paring but it worked so well. Brun Mars just killed it.

1. "Black Summer" 3:52

3. "Aquatic Mouth Dance" 4:20
4. "Not the One" 4:26
5. "Poster Child" 5:16
6. "The Great Apes" 5:03
7. "It's Only Natural" 5:43
8. "She's a Lover" 3:41
9. "These Are the Ways" 3:56
10. "Whatchu Thinkin'" 3:40
11. "Bastards of Light" 3:38
12. "White Braids & Pillow Chair" 3:40

14. "Veronica" 4:28
15. "Let 'Em Cry" 4:23
16. "The Heavy Wing" 5:31
17. "Tangelo" 3:27
Black Summer seems like kind of an odd opening song...a bit low energy. It was ok, though it sounds exactly like where they left off on Stadium Arcadium which is a bit underwhelming. I still maintain that Josh injected more creativity into their music than John did on his last few albums with them.

Josh may have injected more creativity, but hearing Black Summer for the first time today, hearing John’s guitar playing instantly reminded me of my love for this band. I personally wish they kept Josh and went with a two guitarist approach, but if I have to pick one guitarist for the Chili Peppers, I will ALWAYS take John over Josh, Dave, or Hilel.
-
I only own two RHCP albums (Mother's Milk and One Hot Minute) so I'm extremely casual. I enjoy pretty much everything I've heard from them that's not Suck My Kiss or Give It Away.
I would say that Black Summer is pretty cool. Once it gets going of course.

Agreed. I've got no issues if this is the band going back to where they left off with Stadium Arcadium because that's my favorite RHCP album

New album came out last week.
Gonna have to listen to it more before forming thoughts. Anyone else check it out yet?
-
Yeah. I like it, but it could use a little trimming.
There's a few standout tracks to me.... Aquatic Mouth Dance, One Way Traffic, Let Em Cry
But a lot of the album is just decent to good. It kind of plods along at 17 tracks. I think I had my hopes a little too high with John returning so it feels like a bit of a letdown, but I do think it's overall still pretty good.
Flea is absolutely amazing on this, as usual.

I agree.
With John returning, I was hoping for something more inspired but a lot of it reminds me of the last two albums. Just ok, with some decent highlights here and there.
But it definitely didn't need to be 73 mins. Should have been trimmed for sure.
-
I quite like it so far. But yes, at 17 tracks it seems a little too long.
-
Album should be cut down 3 or 4 songs and Anthony is less than average on this album. I was disappointed.
-
I really like the new album and I’m not even a fan of RHCP at all.
-
Album starts strong, ends well too. But in the middle of the album it seems to pad out the weaker tracks, cut maybe 4 - 5 songs from here and it'd be among their best work (although it probably lacks a really good fast track).

Red Hot Chili Peppers' second studio album of 2022, Return of the Dream Canteen, releases October 14th.
From the band's Facebook post:
"We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return of the Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It’s packed. Made with the blood of our hearts, yours truly, the Red Hot Chili Peppers."

For as mixed of a bag as Unlimited Love was, I don’t know wether to be excited or worried about a other double album from the same writing sessions. I’m kinda worried that these are gonna be more or less the leftovers and all the good stuff was already released.

Funny enough, the band said they held back on some of their best songs from Unlimited Love, but still. I feel the same as you. I'll check it out for sure but does make me wonder about the quality of music vs quantity.

I see a lot of people reacting negatively to Rick Rubin being involved. I know he was considered a brilliant producer but I'm not sure at this point. We'll see on the new material - it's cool that they had so much music/creativity happen but if it's not really good then is it worth it? ;)
-
Rick has been on some amazing albums in his time no taking away from that but he has also been apart of some of the worst sounding albums of all time. I think he has actively hurt some of RHCP's best work with the abysmal production.
I'm excited to check out the new record. Most RHCP albums have a couple of really awesome tracks, a couple really bad track and then the rest which varies between ok to good.
