Title: The "Tim Burton" Thread
Post by: TimelessSymphony on April 22, 2011, 12:47:41 AM
i'm watching Nightmare Before Christmas and i am amazed how the movie is done it's the best animated movie from all time using this kind of technology!! i've been watching the movie around 40 times now and still like it it's never get old!!! the score in the movie is just EPIC!!! Danny Elfman is one of my favorite composer and i'm glad that Tim chooses Elfman because he's a genious for making music:D i wonder whats next for Burton i think the last movie with him was Corpse Bride (another masterpiece) but i'm not sure....

I like his Batman movies, Ed Wood, Big Fish, Mars Attacks and I think that's it. Not a big fan of the rest of his work.

But despite being repetitive in style, Elfman is great :)

I love Tim Burton's work. At worst his films are merely good and they range up to amazing, and Elfman's scores are always terrific.

But you know that Burton didn't actually direct Nightmare Before Christmas right?

Everything from Pee Wee to Sleepy Hollow is amazing. Last ten years has been rough though.

Sweeny and Big Fish were good, in my opinion. Some of the others, though...

Didn't get into either. The closest I came to liking anything was Alice in Wonderland, but it was too little, too late.
I'm waiting for him to do a film on par with his earlier works. We shall see. The only other director I can think of with as strong of a string of films was John Carpenter.

I like his stuff... all of it, I think. I'm just glad he didn't get his hands on Superman Returns. His concept art was atrocious.

I like everything I've seen of his as well - I haven't seen his Planet of the Apes and heard it wasn't great, but I've loved the rest.

I didn't hate Apes as much as most others seemed to...and I'm a huge fan of the series.

Edward Scissorhands was my favorite movie as a kid. Doesn't entirely hold up now but still pretty good. Same with the Batman films. Big Fish is probably my favorite film of his now.
