My friend and I are going, we are from Doncaster but decided to go to the Civic instead, might still end up at the Dome as well though :D
It's a nice venue, saw them there on the 8V tour, hopefully we will get the full stage show with the projectors etc. because I missed that at the Leeds '09 show. We are seated center balcony, back row, right in the center, can't wait!
-
Yeah I was originally only going to Doncaster and HV, but ended up doing Wolves too!
-
I'll be there, high voltage too.
-
Might be selling off one of my tickets soon, I haven't decided yet. The friend who was supposed to come with me has had to cancel because his Dad booked a holiday, without asking if he had other plans. Now I have the choice of taking one of my parents, who both like DT, or going on my own :-\
Not quite sure what to do, but if there is anyone interested, its a center balcony, center of back row seat.
Matt
-
Go on your own. I am.
-
I'll be there! ;D Any idea who are supporting? I've noticed their are a few events going on the 23rd, so hopefully we'll get more time with Dream Theater instead!
-
In case you hadn't seen DejaVu, Eden's Curse are supporting.
-

Thanks for letting me know. I'm looking forward to see these guys actually, I'm rather fond of their album 'Trinity', it's a nice mood setter full of intense guitaring and contagious hooks. Do you reckon LaBrie is going to appear with them? Can't wait!
-
I think JLB probably will come on stage with them at one of the two shows.
-
I am coming! ;D All the way from Sweden :corn
-
This is my first DT gig. Worried I might die from how epic it's going to be :eek
-
I don't think I could have a better first post than to say I shall be at this gig! I shall also be a first timer. The fact that I live like 5 or 10 minutes from the venue makes it even sweeter ;D
As a side note, I'm surprised so far this tour by the absence of the songs Mangini performed for his audition (ANTR,TDoE,TSCO). I thought those would be absolute definites for the tour, seeing as I remember them saying 'We could have performed those live to an audience without a problem' (or words to that effect).
-
Put me on the roll call guys ;D
-
I'll be there, flying from Ireland ;D
-
Plus 2 more. Myself and my son.
-
Hello
I'll be there (and HVF)
-
How is balcony standing in Civic halls? Anyone knows? ("seat" 57-58)
-
Selling 2x stall standing tickets very cheap, can send the tickets via email (Print@Home-tickets) or we can meet up before the show outside the venue or something.
Like £15 per ticker or so is fine, just want to get rid of them
-
How are the queues for a Dream Theater gig, do people get there early and wait for the doors to open? I want to get up close for my first DT gig :)

Whos here then? :P

Dear God. That was INCREDIBLE. :hefdaddy The whole band was on fire, JLB especially! The chemistry between the band was just amazing, I can't remember which song it was, but whilst JR was playing he reached over to MM's drumkit and started tapping his cymbals! ;D
Oh, and the setlist was the usual, but with METROPOLIS PT. 1 for encore, ooooohhhhhh yeeeeeeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh. :metal
Edit: I forgot to mention I was genuinely impressed by Eden's Curse, who I didn't know much of (Except No Holy Man). I was just hoping JLB would join them for No Holy Man, and they did play the song, but JLB didn't join them. Can't complain though, the guitarist was awesome! I don't know how he plays guitar left handed with the strings strung for a right handed guitar!
-
I'm stoked. First Dream Theater gig, and the best gig I've ever been to by far. It was seriously outstanding, the sound was perfect although the keys felt a bit quiet on some sections, but wow! It's boosted Endless Sacrifice to my top 5 that's for sure, LaBrie was pretty much flawless, Mangini was mind-blowing, Rudess was superb, Myungs hands were on fire, and Petrucci was God as usual.
I nearly cried on the calm guitar solo of TCoT, it was that good! I just wish nights like these could be repeated forever. :metal
Other than the outstanding performance, Eden's Curse were great! To be honest, a surprising opener with some really uplifting songs, got me singing along to a few. The guitarist was also out of this world, and I met him after the gig, he's a really cool guy.
The crowd were on and off I suppose, some songs everyone was chanting along and showing flawless support, other songs towards the end they seemed to calmed down and the atmosphere kind of dropped, but DT were just incredible.
Brilliant gig, can't wait to see some videos :D
-
There was a girl standing next to me who said "I fucking love you james labrie!" it was funny.
-
Just got back to the hotel and what can I say. The band were on fire, James was better than ever, I was floored by Manginis drumming.....the whole performance from all members was phenomenal. The guys were very cool hanging around with some of us fans before they boarded the coach too, signing things and having photographs. It goes without saying how friendly and humble all of the guys are, but Mike is just great, so appreciative, friendly an funny :P
I recorded the whole show with my zoom h1, just needs splitting into tracks, EQing etc. I also filmed otboa, metropolis, the drum solo and various other parts and took plenty of photos, all of which I'll compile as soon as I can.
Overall a fantastic show, 3rd time I've seen them and they still amaze me. Second time I met Jp jlb JR and jm too, although this time it wasnt as intimate.
Matt
-
Goodies, can't wait :corn
-
Yeah, baby, bring on the recorded show! :metal
B.Lee
-
Was any of you guys randomly interviewed before the show?
-
No but I saw two girls in blue suit jackets interviewing people. What were they asking? Also rumour has it the BBC were interviewing the band before the show.......
-
I didn't catch what they were doing it for. But they just aked me whats most inspirational about Dream Theater, favourite album, and who's the most inspirational member of the band.
I just said their ability to make a diverse range of music and how unique they are, SFAM is my favourite album, and JMX is the most inspirational member because he got me into playing bass. :metal
-
I thought James' speech was great, he's a funny guy!
JLB: It's great to do shows like this, getting intimate with our fans
Fans: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
JLB: But... Not in that way...
:lol

DT @ Wolverhampton, UK 23/07/2011 - What A Night !!
WHAT A NIGHT. Well worth the 450 mile round trip, the road diversions, the tiredness and the lack of food, That was one of the tightest (IMHO) that I have seen the boys in years...That was totally worth every second of pain to see this magical night.
Being a drummer also, sitting on the right balcony last night was truely awsome. Seeing Mike enjoying himself so much reminded me of when I had the honor to meet with him at Berklee a couple of years ago. He truely is a very nice and humble guy, and when I saw him getting the adulation of the crowd and seeing him keep saying "WOW" just underlined what a fantastic choice the band have made in choosing Mike Mangini.
As for the rest of the band, totally out of this world. The best gig of any sort I have seen in many years, and credit to the crowd for their part in the experience. I have to note that several people I talked to were at their first DT gig, and by watching them enjoying the experience I dare say it won't be the last.
I cannot wait now for the World tour (whenever they get to the UK, US fans you will NOT be disappointed !!).
Finally to John, THANK YOU keeping things together and THANK YOU for taking the band to the next stage of it's evolution and THANK YOU for keeping the Dream Alive...
-
What a gig!! I have seen DT many times and that is the BEST I have ever seen them!!! MM on drums was awesome and the crowd reaction to him was immense!! I think the future looks very very good for DT!!! Well done guy's!!!

-
Better late than never!
Wow, just wow, ive seen DT many times since 92 and this may well be the best gig so far. The band was totally on fire. LaBrie was absolutely awesome, that was by far the best performance from him Ive seen. All the band looked happy - the vibe from the stage was amazing.
What can you say about MM apart from YOU are the man. Absolutely astonishing :hefdaddy. I took along a mate who I have recently introduced DT to and his jaw was on the floor.
I echo what Rushfreek says - thanks for keeping going. What a crying shame it would have been if MP had got his way and the band had gone on a hiatus. Best decision for all that Portnoy left.
Cant wait for the new album
-
Great to hear You All Guys!!! Polish Dream Theater show is on next thursday and I'm so pumped because all of Your comments. I saw DT 5 times, I feel that this one is going to be the best, well I'm most excited of all times ;) can't wait 28th July :metal :metal

The show was just incredible! I wanna see it again :( It was totally worth the trip all the way from Sweden!
And thanks a lot to the guy who filmed everything and uploaded it! Awesome.
-
I was at the Wolverhampton gig aswell, 5th time seeing the boys, first with Mangini and they sound tighter and better than ever! The intro music (no spoilers :P) was great, perfect for DT! The reponse Genie got was tremendous, he nailed every part. His drum solo too :omg: It's safe to say - I got Mangini'd
The band seemed to be having alot of fun too, alot of smiles, JLB messed up a line during TCOT and it was laughed off, was cool and funny
I was about 3 rows back JMX/JR side wearing my 'Professional Russian' FPSRussia t shirt :lol
Heres a pic I took. Sorry for the poor quality, iPhone cameras aren't spectacular!

Great gig, I was in work earlier thinking I've never seen them so tight and together! All you US/overseas fans are seriously in for a treat, hope it's as great for you as it was for us!
-
^I must've been right next to you. Was there a ginger and a blonde girl head-banging a lot by you? :lol
I was with them. :metal

I was in exactly the same place, behind two girls headbanging like crazy! Were you the guy in the red cap? If so, I think I kept knocking your cap by accident, sorry! :lol
I was a dark blonde haired guy wearing the Dream Theater T-shirt with the tour dates on it that I'd just bought from the stall, attempting to take pictures on an annoyingly slow camera.
Edit: Here's a favourite from the many pictures I took!

It's possible! I'm sure a red haired girl kept walking past going to the bar or something :lol what was with the paramedics coming to pick up a guy before DT started? Did he faint from Mangini anticipation? :P

Yes that's definately them! :lol
I was the one next to him, trying to get JLB's attention during the gig. I was just wearing a boring white shirt, I really wanted one of those t-shirts but I didn't have enough money
Don't worry I knocked it off a few times myself, it's pretty claustrophobic in there.
That's a great picture, love JP's faces, did you see JLB chase that sound technician off the stage, that was funny! And I swear I saw you behind us!
Oh and this guy next to us fainted twice, he said he was fine after the first time, then a minute later he fell straight back down. I said 'Petrucci isn't even on the stage yet and people nearly died!". Then the paramedics came.
Poor guy, I wonder if he managed to watch the show...
-
None of the tees really grabbed me, hopefully they'll have some decent ones when they go on the road supporting ADToE
-
Ah yeah hope so, by the way when is that tour coming? autumn, winter, spring?

Yeah, I saw that guy.. I just heard a thud the first time, looked round and he was flat on the floor. He stood up and said he was ok, but I was worried so I kept on watching him and he was sort of swaying for 20 seconds and then just fell over again.. I really hope he recovered and got to see the show, even if it was just from the back. He had such a good position too!
JLB was so funny on stage! I was blown away by his voice AND just his stage presence/interaction with other band members! On The Under a Glass Moon video you can see JLB massaging Petrucci's forearm, which made me laugh
