Title: Back in the 1800's
Post by: dethklok09 on March 22, 2011, 07:50:46 PM
Was this the type of sign they would use to scare shoplifters?

It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about.

Who knows man, that's just how people posed for pictures for a long time. Many still do. Depends on the culture.

They didn't look very happy because they had to wait for the picture to be exposed.

Pictures used to take a really long time. Which is also why so many people sat down in pictures instead of standing.

Exactly. If you look at one of the first pictures ever, a shot of a busy Paris street I believe, there is only one person in camera. Why? That person was the only person standing still long enough to be fully exposed. and even that person is blurry from their small movements. All the people going about their daily lives walked out of the shot before they were captured, and hence don't appear in the picture.
