I want to try to use MIDI for recording from my keyboard into the pc. I know I need a MIDI interface, but will this do it, or what exactly do I need?

This will work, as long as you have the software to record the input. I use an older version of essentially the same thing.

I just got Samplitude Music Studio 14. Do you think that will do it?

You actually don't need a MIDI interface. You can use a USB-powered MIDI controller, such as the ones made by M-Audio (Keystation, for instance). I have an 88-key M-Audio MIDI controller that's powered by USB and it's awesome. No need for a MIDI interface or adapter.

I didn't want to go that route since I already have a keyboard. I think I'll just buy this cable and hope it works. It's not much money if it doesn't.

Oh, sorry - I misread your first post. I didn't realize you already have a keyboard.
