I only listened to the first few minutes but it sounds identical to the original, you really captured all the little nuances and whatnot, so congrats :metal...wish I had the time, skill, and patience to learn petrucci's stuff that well!

Whoa. Amazing :D

Your chops are great but I've personally grown tired of "covers" that just mimic the original note for note. It makes for great practice and I definitely wish I could play to this level. Regardless, you pulled off the tone and feeling of the original incredibly well.

Thanks, and I totally agree with you that the guitar, and any instrument should not be just an object you perform rehearsed motions on to the highest degree of accuracy; I think it should be nothing less than an extension of your soul. I am merely attempting to cover Suspended Animation in this manner, because I feel it is the pinnacle of modern guitar playing, and if you can play this you can play anything, therefore there is no limit to your creativity other than your own mind. I am only doing these covers to prepare myself for maybe one day composing my own solo guitar material (I have already recorded a pop-rock album with my brother, and even though I'm very proud of it, it's not very guitar-intensive).
Anyway, I expressed my thoughts on the whole thing in this post:

Looking forward to Damage Control. That's probably my favourite song on the album, closely followed by Animate-Inanimate.

Yes, they are amazing compositions, in every way. I often wonder how a human could possibly create this stuff...
What are we in for in the next album? Gonna be scary...
