I mentioned this in the chat thread a couple days ago, but I finally played my first "real" gig on January 14, 2011 at the Sad Cafe in NH. I didn't know where to put it... I was gonna put the pics in the picture thread and the videos in the chat thread, but I figured it would probably be a better idea to just have one thread for everything.
A couple people have asked me for pics, video, and audio, so... here you go. :)
Obviously we weren't the most solid band to ever play, and there are a couple mistakes here and there, but I think for a first show we did really well.
Setlist:
1. Bounce
2. Voyage
3. Apocalypsis (Jesu Christi)
Set time ~ 21 minutes
VIDEOS:

I'm pretty excited. Playing a concert was one of the things I've always wanted to do ever since I got into music, so I can now scratch that off my list! More videos should be coming soon, hopefully!

Keep gigging. Every1 needs gigs under their belts.
-
Did you bang every single girl there? Young and old? Single and taken? Stranger and sibling?
If not, it wasn't a real gig.
-
Watching the first video right now; like it a lot. I like the drumming.

Well, I eye fucked some of the girls if that counts.
And surprisingly our audience was half female... ofcourse I'd say atleast 90% of the girls were there with their boyfriends BUT THEY DON'T HAVE TO KNOW.
And thanks guys! My friend is working on syncing up the soundboard audio with the videos for the other songs so when those are up I'll post them here as well.
-
Dude that song is fucking brilliant. Great job! Hope you guys take off!
-
Awesome! Welcome to the club, brother!
-
Playing music for people is so motivating, rewarding, pleasurable, and just plain fun.

Really? It's...ok I guess. But the drumming didn't do much for me.
-
It wasn't mind-blowing but I liked the creativity and it suited the song.

Seemed a bit rigid to me. The riffs were good, but the drumming seemed a bit nervous or something.

Oh, we were definitely all nervous for that song, and it shows I think. It was our opener and the first time all of us (except the singer/lead guitarist) performed live. Once we got past that, we were a lot tighter. Also, this was the first time Paul has drummed. He is primarily a guitarist (and an amazing one at that!), so this was a completely different experience for him.
We definitely got more and more comfortable through out the set... except for the acoustic break in Voyage... that was a disaster. :lol

This. There's nothing like gigging. Nothing like playing music for people.
Nothing!
-
drum off?
YOU'RE ON.
I should actually be getting my new drums tomorrow.

"Please: NO MOSHING"
What a lame event. :P

Not only that, but they are very strict about drugs/drug references. We were gonna do a cover of "Smokin" by Boston but we had to drop it because of the pot references....
Seriously. :lol But its a really nice venue, besides that.
-
Alright, this is probably the last video since I don't think we'll be uploading Voyage.

Yeah, I was gonna ask if anyone disobeyed that little rule.
-
Congrats Z!! Very cool videos.
-
Thanks!
We have another show lined up. If anyone in the Boston area wants to come out and see us, that would be awesome. We're playing at the Lilly Pad in Cambridge, MA on Saturday, May 28. Show starts at 4:30 and we'll have a 2 hour set length, although we probably won't be using all that. We also will be the only band that night, as far as I'm aware, because I think we're renting it out.

So... yeah. :D It would be great it any of you can come. I doubt any of my IRL friends will end up going. :P

What are you guys going to do for 2 hours?
-
What are you guys going to do for 2 hours?
It gives us enough time to set up and all that, no rushing. We got about an hour of original music, might do a cover or two and give us about an 80 minute show. Rest will be just extra.

Don't forget to factor in the time in between songs to talk to the audience, fix small equipment problems, etc... In my band that always gets factored in so if anything, we can play more songs than planned. That's always nice.
-
Hey Z, didn't realize you are from the same area as me. My band Dorian Gray is always playing around MA and NH (opening for Death Angel on the 3rd! let me know if you wanna go). Let me know if you wanna do any gigs. Check out the link in my sig pic to give us a listen.
-
Cool that you're playing at the Sad Cafe! My band always tried to get booked there a few years back, but to no avail... I think they thought we were too metal and would bring an undesirable crowd... haha

I doubt anyone cares, but I wanted to share this video and figured this would be the best place for it.
From a show we played last month. Easily our best, we were all really excited because the show before it was NOT good at all and it felt good to have a good night after that.
Anyways, far from perfect, but I still think overall it came out pretty good! It was only our 5th show ever.

If you want the best part of the video, I'd skip to 10:15 (which is Yellow Elephant Part 3). The video is two songs (Part 1 and 3) with a piano improv in the middle. But if you're cool, you can watch the whole 20 minutes or so.

You might want to check that link. As of now it links to a Frank Zappa studio recording, I think :lol
-
My bad, thanks! :lol

I like Bounce. Kinda reminds me of something I might hear on Colonel Les Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade's Purple Onion album.
