Title: Good Country music
Post by: 2Timer on December 29, 2010, 06:39:20 PM
Marvellous G showed an interest in some country music, so here are some recommendations. The ones in this post are the ones I recommended in another thread, so if you saw them, move onto my next post.
Brokenheartsville by Joe Nichols

Then They Do by Trace Adkins

Concrete Angel by Martina McBride

One Last Time by Dusty Drake

Austin by Blake Shelton

There are a few to get you going.

Pretty much anything by Hank Williams III, lots of awesome guitar playing.  I've been working on some of that fancy chickin pickin and other country techniques and it's tough, doesn't come nearly as naturally to me as metal.

I used to think this as well (and still sort of do) but whenever I actually listen to good country I do really enjoy it, despite my prejudices. Thanks very much for the list 2Timer, I'll try and listen to it all in the next week or so and tell you what I think.  :tup

Ok. And I'll keep trying to come up with more suggestions.
I think the key to liking country music is to stop giving a shit what your friends think about the music you're listening to. That's pretty much what it came down to with me.  ;)

That's not the key to liking country, that's the key to truly enjoying music

An oxymoron (plural oxymorons or oxymora) (from Greek ὀξύμωρον, "sharp dull") is a figure of speech that combines contradictory terms. Oxymorons appear in a variety of contexts, including inadvertent errors such as extremely average and literary oxymorons crafted to reveal a paradox.

I like country music, but not artists like those listed in the OP. Josh Roberts and the Hinges is a great band.
