Title: One of the Best Cover Songs Ever...
Post by: emindead on August 30, 2010, 02:55:18 PM
...is "All Along the Watchtower" performed by The Jimmy Hendrix Experience.

I mean, wow. That guitar is just fantastic. Hendrix is a hit or miss for me, regarding his covers. But in this song he just makes the Dylan original sound dull.

Appreciate this incredible cover, adore its guitar!

But in this song he just makes the Dylan original sound dull.

That is actually an eternal truth of music. If you cover a Bob Dylan song, you will sound better than the original.

Now, that's what cover songs are all about. Gives the song a whole new angle.

:lol I was expecting Manfred Mann doing Blinded by the Light for some reason.

Great call by Adami, though.  They not only did a great job on the cover but made it an intricate part of a prominent tv series.

It's true. Bob Dylan is one of the best songwriters ever. And one of the worst performers :lol

Meh not entirely true.  See: UB40's cover of I'll Be Your Baby Tonight or the entire Dylanesque album by Bryan Ferry.  Good God.

Bob Dylan only made music so Jeff Buckley could one day cover his songs and make them a thousand times better.

I'm not a fan of Hendrix at all, but I agree with you that both the cover and the guitar are great.
