This is easily the greatest bad movie ever. The Rifftrax for it is pretty fantastic too.

I don't get the love for this movie, even though I understand it's so bad it's good.
Thing is, while it is hilarious in that unintentional kind of way, the movie is just too damn long. Sure, it'll make you laugh, but after a certain point it stops being funny and starts being just plain boring. I watched it at a friends house, and we all fell asleep after the first 40 minutes or so.

At The Room? Its funny for the first little while, but after like, the third love scene backed by a sexy RnB tune it gets a bit boring.

It's not just the bad acting that makes it painful, it's the 500 plot holes this damn movie has. And it just drags on and on. I'm surprised I actually sat through the whole thing.

The Room is awesome, and I swear the movie's like drugs and alcohol. Every time I see it, the experience is different. Once it was riotously hilarious. Another time it was an interesting meditation on how not to make another movie. And then another time I was in that two beer state where I was looking for some kind of kinship from anything, and for some reason I was actually identifying character motivations in the movie that actually made the writing make sense. Basically, the equivalent of a bad trip when it comes to watching The Room.

The thing I enjoyed doing most on my last experience with friends was commenting everytime a character made a disparaging generalization about women, or a woman embodied one of those generalizations. Wiseau must've had some serious issues, because if you look behind the hilarity, the sheer amount of bile and hatred thrown at the female characters and women in general is pretty awful.

I made it halfway through Starfighters (#7) and even MST3K couldn't do much with it. It's literally watching planes refuel in midair for an hour.

The story behind the movie was the director wanted to make this pro Air Force movie so he stockpiled all the stock plane footage from them he could find and edited it together with a laughable storyline about some up and coming pilot whose goal is to test out a new plane. That's it. That's the whole god damn movie.

I went to see a screening of the room on the lower east side a few weeks ago. It was probably one of the best movie experiences I have ever had. So much fun it was ridiculous. Tons of crowd participation and yelling and screaming. Everyone should go see a screening of this film. It is amazing.

I've gotta admit I can't really give The Room the worst movie ever title. Sure the acting is hilariously bad and the writing/plot is absolutely ridiculous but the production values are actually decent. I've seen FAR worse in terms of making everything about the movie absolutely suck *coughbirdemiccough*.

Yeah when my friends and I watched it we got through like half the movie then were like "Do we really want to see the rest of this?(No)" so we just fast forwarded through the rest of the movie pretty much. So technically we finished it but we just skipped through a few parts. ha

Last House? I can understand if you're sensitive to rape scenes, but calling it a bad film is ridiculous. Even the remake was decent. It has to be a brutal film. It is in the pantheon of revenge horror films, like The Hills Have Eyes, I Spit on Your Grave, A Clockwork Orange and even The Devils Rejects. They're all about asking what is the difference between the good guys and the bad guys. How is what the parents do to the gang any worse then what they did to her daughter? The answer most folk have is that they did it first and with malicious intent, so the retaliation is justified. Its a film that's supposed motivate one to reflect on their own beliefs and come to terms with the fact that under the right circumstances, we all have the potential to perform acts of evil.

Oh come on. She got shot in the back and somehow managed to swim 10K home during a hurricane?! WTF. >_> And he blows a guy's head up with a microwave with the appliance DOOR open? >_> He said he was a doctor, not an engineer. So dumb.
I didn't get that at all. I figured it was just bad scriptwriting because the characters' personality switched like 3 times during the movie.. and I didn't care if all of them died.

lol hey now! I got a few laughs out of it for sure. But if you are going to name a move Megashark vs Giant Octupus, that shit has to be incredible. I did enjoy how easily the Asian guy got into blondie's pants though.

You have to understand. That movie was trying too hard to be a bad movie. Movies you laugh at because they are so bad that make them good, should be a natural thing. Like The Room. Wiseau tried so F'n hard to make a good film. He was totally serious about it. And because he tried so hard and was so serious, we find it extremely funny.
Megashark was trying too hard. It was so over the top outrageous. Like the shark taking out that airplane. Like outrageously bad and funny would be the scene in Piranha (the original) when the fish jumps out of the lake and latches onto the guys nose. Or when you can see the wires and sticks attached to them.
Megashark was funnily bad, but you could tell that's exactly how they were trying to make the movie.

It's hard to enjoy a film that is trying to be bad, because it just feels so calculated and crass. Whereas with a film like The Room, the obvious passion and personal investment makes its utter failure truly compelling. And hilarious.

I get almost all of my bad movies from mst3k. Mostly because I could never make it through one of them without the commentary.
Unless it's just a so-bad-it's-hilarious type like The Room. Or, from the sound of it, Thankskilling.
