Title: Klaus Nomi
Post by: Dr. SeaWolf on July 29, 2010, 05:38:10 AM
Anyone heard of this guy?  I figure of everyone here, Sonatafanica, Sigz, and maybe In the Wake of Poseidon might appreciate this, as they seem to have an appreciation for "weird" music.  He was a new wave/synth pop musician in the early 80s, but died fairly young of AIDS.  He's mostly famous among Americans as being one of David Bowie's backup singers when he appeared on Saturday Night Live.  He's got a rather bizarre stage persona (he looked like some kind of robot opera singer or something) and possessed an amazing vocal range.

Here's a live performance of "Total Eclipse"

:D Yeah, I like how he comes out of nowhere with this wailing falsetto opera voice.

My brother likes to link me to videos of Klaus Nomi to trick me into listening to Lightning Striking. I can honestly say I don't get it, and I actually find it a bit uncomfortable to listen to. He finds it hilarious.

I thought he was killed after he betrayed David Bowie and Iggy Pop to join Phantom Limb?
