I love how well their music grooves despite the crazy time signatures.

edit: Or perhaps it's because of them.

*puts on flame shield*

Yeah, it's cool he can play like that, but it is boring as all hell.

I don't think it's boring but I can certainly understand someone else not being into it.

I agree tbh.

It's subjective, of course. I find the oddness and different feel of the groove to be what catches my attention and makes me want to keep listening. I see why people wouldn't want to listen to it, though.

Planet X are amazing.  I still think their debut album Universe is their best album.  Crazy prog but a lot of beautiful melodies.  Tony Macalpine is one of the most underrated shredders in the world.  Virgil is also one of the greatest drummers in Australia and even the entire world.

I find this easier to listen to without looking at them playing, otherwise it just sounds completely confusing.

Meh.  Bass by itself just does not work unless your doing something different with the sounds.  Found this in the related though... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--IoD_q96Yk&feature=related  :corn

So I've noticed those people in comments saying things like "Awesome technicality, extremely talented, but no soul or emotions."

I don't know, but I feel much more soul in this than those general 4/4 time signature jams.

Those people have no idea what they are talking about.  Just because they don't 'get it' it immediately has no soul.  Total bullshit if you ask me.
