It had to be done. What do you think of the song? And more importantly- of Desmond Child? :P
-
I don't have anything against this song, and I don't skip it when I listen to FII.

6 is pretty much what I what I was thinking, too. I like the song, but it's not one of their best. I don't share the hatred of it that some others espouse.
Re: Desmond Child -- just went to his wikipedia page, and he's worked with an impressive number of artists, though I don't know a lot of the songs. Aerosmith's "Crazy" and some of the early Bon Jovi hits are good songs, though. I mean, I don't think a band should be forced to collaborate with an outside writer as Dream Theater was, but, like I said, I still like the song. Still a failed experiment, though, since it was intended to become a hit.

Eh, I don't like it. Nor am I disgusted by it like I am with Forsaken. So 4.

Pretty mediocre. Kinda funny how lame it is, but I don't hate it. Desmond Hume kicks ass!

5.
Burning My Soul is better
-
It's a 3 by DT standards but the demo would be a 7, so much better.
-
it is my top 3 bottom, but I really like the demo you or me
-
When I first heard it, I thought it was radio ready. It played for a week on the radio never to be heard from again. So DT learned their lesson and made the music they wanted to do. I gave it a 5.
-
I gave it a 7. A fun listen. Though the chorus is like watching an old Godzilla flick. You hear what they are saying. It's just not what you expect.
And except for the solo I like the demo more.
-
The demo is MUCH, MUCH better.
-
The demo is more boring than the finished product.
-
I gave it a 3. The intro wah riff is cool. Other then that...
-
Eh, I don't like it. Nor am I disgusted by it like I am with Forsaken. So 4.
:'( I love Forsaken.

I'm sorry, but the chorus is pretty bad in the finished one, it's a lot better in the demo. I could almost imagine the Backstreet Boys singing it.
-
10, just cuz no one else would choose it
-
Aha, we have an anti-establishment here. That's pretty metal. :metal

That's alright. To each his own.
I fucking hate it.

I'll take Forsaken over YNM any day of the week - and then some!
Not a fan of YNM. Overall the song just doesn't do much for me. I do think the chorus Desmond Child came up with is superior to what is in YoM, but the stop start break before the choruses gives the song a disjointed feel and I don't like the removal of that middle instrumental section.
I gave it a 1.
-
It gets a 1 from me.
And while there are things about You Or Me that I like better than some things about You Not Me, I just don't understand people who say it's MUCH BETTER than the finished product. It might be marginally better, but both of them are fairly awful.
-
Love it, always have. Never understood the critizism. 8
-
8. It's great.

I agree with Hefdaddy here. I think there is a segment of the DT fan base that loves the demo version just because it the album version has Desmond Child's name attached. I however don't have any animosity towards the song, and while it is in the bottom fourth in the DT catalog, it's not a song I avoid or can't enjoy from time to time. It's a 5, but then again I probably have my least favorite DT song as a 4, so the scale is kind of tilted.
-
Agree with some people saying that the demo is better. I would give a 6 to that.
But the official release, I give a 3. I think its the worst song in FII.
-
6. It's not as bad as many people say, but it's not anything great, either. I prefer the demo version.
-
It's middle of the road material. It has some good moments, but isn't by any means, awful. It just isn't that great, that's all.
-
6. Nothing special, but it's ok and really catchy. I've liked it since the beginning and never could see a reason for all the hate. It's New Millenium that has always felt like the worst on the album for me and it still does.

That.
-
10/10 DT's best song.
-
There is no 11....
Therefore, I shall give it a 7 because the two numbers are related.
-
Had my DT catalog playlist on shuffle and out of nowhere comes YNM. Ok, that's cool. Haven't heard it in a long time. No problem.
*doesn't skip*..........hmmm.......nothing too awful. Kinda groovy solo section. Not too fond of the outro. Drags a little, but I'll live.
-
I'll give it a 3. Demo would be about a 5.

4 or 5.
Its certainly low on a DT scale. But, it stills holds its own against a bunch of the garbage out there.

This. Not great, but not as terrible as everyone says. It's a fun little poppy song that I listen to when it comes up but I wouldn't ever go out of my way to listen to. 6 as well.
