Good lord, this is one violent performance. Definitely, something worth pointing out and worthy of having its own thread. Appreciate, mortals :hat

It's actually the video that got me to look in to Dream Theater on my own, though I had heard every DT song through my dad, it took this video to make me really try them out.
-
Yes! I would rent it on iTunes if it wasn't for all the other crap on there. :(

*very, very pleased someone made a thread about this*
I have a sentimental story about this specific performance. In 2003, I bought Train Of Thought. I completely fell in love, but not quite enough to go out and purchase the rest of their discography. When I heard DT was touring with Megadeth (which happened to be my favorite band at the time), I decided to give this band I loved another chance.
The Gigantour 2005 CD came out and I was floored. The Glass Prison. I got goosebumps every single time I heard it. This was the performance that really pushed me over the edge from a casual fan to a true die-hard.
*appreciatess*

You can't buy even just the song, you gotta buy the whole album.
Watched it on Netflix though, it is an awesome performance.

My favourite version of this song; JLB's performance is amazing.
-
Petrucci looked awesome at that time, I really dig his Saiyan style.

Haha, so do I.
The one thing I seem to remember from this performance is how petrucci slays the arps, Im pretty sure the tempo is higher than usual too.

Playing that main riff right after playing the solo is so ridiculously difficult since your wrist is so exceedingly enervated from the solo.
-
I saw this performance before actually hearing the studio version. So I was immensely spoiled when I finally got SDOIT.
-
I need to listen to this again
edit...just noticed it is watch instantly on netflix...yahoo!

At any rate, yes, it's a great performance.

wow, just finished both tunes....that absolutely :metal and got me even more excited for the Garden show
-
I had never seen this performance before, *loads up on Netflix*
-
Honestly...I wasn't too impressed with the gigantour version of this song. Please don't hurt me! .... too much.
-
I think it started around 51m
-
I absolutely love this performace. I like it better than the studio version.
All of the vocals are just so :2metal:
-
LaBrie is on fire on this performance. One of the best performances of DT on DVD. Would have love to seen the whole set.
-
Didn't they also record Honor Thy Father, Never Enough and Just Let Me Breathe from the same set? Or did I just make that up.
-
This performance had the metal meters off the charts! :letam: :2metal: :metal

Hmm, I've never heard anything of the sort. If these recordings exist I would definitely like to see this footage.

The set would have definitely contained more songs, Honor Thy Father I imagine would be epic. Just on the Gigantour DVD's you always just get 2-3 songs from each band. DT should release the whole set as some sort of bonus on a future DVD.

I don't know if they were all recorded, but I think that was their set that night.

Fuckin' amazing performance.
