Since DT joined Roadrunner, they've produced four music videos, two songs from each of their last two albums.
But what if DT had the chance to make music videos from two songs from Octavarium, which would they have been?
Personally, I feel that "Panic Attack" and "I Walk Beside You" would've been great choices - the former because it was one song that had garnered a lot of attention to the band, via Rock Band/Guitar Hero fantatics, and is unequivocally Dream Theater's sound at the time - heavy and proggy; the latter because it shows DT's pop-tendencies and is a great single-sounding song, and I can imagine the video for it being very good too.

This is an easy choice for me, These Walls and I Walk Beside You would have made a good pairing of videos.
-
Tracks 3, 4, and 5 would be the most obvious to me. These Walls and Panic Attack would be my picks.
On a serious side-note, I'd love to see a well-done video for Octavarium.

You mocked a very?

Anything from tracks 2 through 5 would've worked, I'd say.

Non-fail post of the day.

I kinda remember they released radio edits of These Walls and Panic Attack. So those two are the "acting singles" as it were. The ones they chose to show the world.
They do seem to be a lot more fond of IWBY than These Walls, though, nowadays, so I went for IWBY and PA.
-
I voted tracks 3 and 4 but I can also see panic attack (edited) as a single too.

Indeed.

MP actually said that he wanted to do a video for IWBY.

This and As I Am from Train Of Thought too

I imagine both Panic Attack and These Walls could make very interesting/cool videos. Something kinda weird and "panicked", if you understand what I mean
-
One for each half of Octavarium.

"Octavarium" and "Sacrificed Sons"

These Walls and Panic Attack were the radio promos at the time. That said, I think the band has shown much more love for I Walk Beside You than These Walls ever since then (with Panic Attack also getting love). Some combination of those three.

These Walls and Panic Attack. Anyone who turned on MTV (or looked at Youtube or whatever) and saw an "I Walk Beside You" video would have said pretty much what we say about the song: "too happy, sounds like U2, who's the chinese girl, and why does that singer look like he time travelled from the 80s?"

Strongly agreed with the bolded part both in the opinion itself and the likelihood of the mainstream sharing that opinion.

Panic Attack as a metal-style video.
I Walk Beside You as a mainstream-like video.

Why does Octivarium have votes? How would they even do a video for that?

I Walk Beside You as a mainstream-like video.
Definitely this. As much as I love These Walls, I could never see it getting much airtime (at least in comparison to these two).
-
Well, it seems for one of the songs most people agree that I Walk Beside You would work because it is lighter, very accessible, and probably seems the biggest natural pick on the album.
On the other hand there is a tossup between These Walls and Panic Attack for a slightly longer and heavier song. I think that both would make good videos, and each has their strengths, the only good reason to pick the former rather than the latter is that These Walls is a way better song.
Just that tiny minor reason.
-
I voted These Walls and Sacrificed Sons, the latter because I think, if done tastefully, it could have utilized 9-11 imagery to create an extremely moving video. I'm thinking there would be a lot of heroic images (rescue workers, etc.) during the more upbeat instrumental section and images more representative of the actual tragedy (again, done tastefully) for the epic chorus.
-
Well if I heard I Walk Beside You on the radio with no prior knowledge of DT I'd never listen to them, as I despise that song :P
So in seriousness my vote would be for These Walls ans Panic Attack.
-
Come on, a half hour Octavarium video would rock! :P

Always when I'm listening to These Walls, I'm imagining MP literally destroying the walls around the band with his double bass. Should make for an awesome video.
