Just watched the first episode and I think it's worthy of it's own thread. Really rich development so far spanning multiple generations.
Godzilla story spanning out of the recent movies, and the Monarch company.
-
Also just finished the first episode. Interested to see where it goes. It's nice to see a Godzilla project where the human plotline isn't totally boring.
-
Very, very solid start. I'll definitely be knee deep into this one.
-
Didn't get a chance to watch last night.....hope to tonight.
As a side note....Apple TV has some really good content and seems like a 'sleeper' streaming service that no one really talks about. But, every show I've watched on it has been really good.

This is a pretty cool show. Really liking it.

And I have a sneaky feeling that they've barely gotten started. It's really been 2 episodes of backstory and getting pieces in place. The shit will hit the fan....hard...

I’m liking how they’re telling the story with the time jumps. It’s been done before in other shows but there is an art to it. That method has to be planned out well as to not get overly confusing. This shows doing a good job at it.
-
Totally agree. Going to watch the 2014 Godzilla, I think that's where the G-day they talk about in the film happens.
-
Watched the first 2 episodes Saturday, they’re spending a lot of time fleshing out the back stories and I hope it pays off. I’m not sold on Wyatt Russell as an actor.
-
Great show and I thought it really ramped up in the third episode. As a child of the 80s who grew up watching Kurt Russell in some iconic action movies, it is great seeing him back on screen is this role.
-
After 3 pretty solid episodes, episode 4 was a dud with a backstory surely no one wanted or needed to see?
-
Yeah episode 4 was a dud. Just one of those filler episodes that does little to propel the story forward. I'm sticking with the show though, hopefully it ramps up again in episode 5.

This series has definitely gone downhill quickly, and now instead of focusing on the monsters they have to shoehorn in a lesbian love triangle for . . . reasons? Or a quota that needs to be met? Maybe they’ll end with a bang but it’s not looking good.

Agreed. Started off promising but the last two episodes were pretty blah.

It's so predictable nowadays with these shows.....it's not a quota but the Apple's, Netflix and Disney's of the world 100% use their platforms to pimp the social agenda of the day.
-
Very disappointing last 2 episodes. This show has seriously gone downhill in a big way.
-
Episode 5 was terrible, genuinely one of the worst written things I've seen for a while (let's sing loudly while sneaking about...). The 3 main characters (the brother, sister and hacker) are dreadful characters, awful dialog and bland acting. I have no idea why we've seemingly dropped the older timeline for the past two episodes either.

Seriously.....the mom talks about people being shot and captured for trespassing and they're skipping down the yellow brick road singing  Just horrible writing. And the past aspect of the show has been the only appealing part of it so far and it looks like they've abandoned it.

Anyone still watching this? I stuck with it and this show has really delivered the last couple of episodes. After such a weak middle section it is back. One more episode to go. if you were watching it and gave up, maybe jump back on.

I was planning on catching up today.

I've stuck with it and it's been just 'OK'. I think the last couple episodes were a good return to form and it's because they've been utilizing the dual storytelling method of past and present. But I will say that 'twist' at the end with Keiko showing up shooting the Boar monster.....zero surprise factor in that. SO predictable....down to the fake distress of the immanent attack to Cate being 'saved' at the last second with the arrow being shot. massive eye roll there.

The last two episodes have been better, but I honestly can see this getting cancelled.

Sadly....I agree. Lot's of potential but I think they just dropped the ball a bit with the story. It'd have been better had they just kept the premise back in the early days of Monarch and not try to shoehorn all the modern day stuff. Those aspects have been the best elements of the show.

Yes agree. Can't see this going more than one season.

Just watched the season finale…….gotta say……that was a pretty good episode. Honestly….if not for the couple weak ones there in a row it’d have been a great season. But they did redeem it a bit with the last couple, especially the finale.
Guess we will wait to see if this is Renewed.
-
I haven't watched since the weaker ones, but lemme guess, more huge monsters, less singing out loud in quarantine zones?

:lol Definitely nothing as silly as that whole quarantine zone deal. There are Monster scenes but they just got back to actually trying to build the characters a bit and tell a story. Where I had once thought this series was a waste of time and waste of an idea…..I’m Now actually hoping it gets renewed after how it left off

I finally got around to watching the finale. This was really good, a very strong episode with a pretty impactful emotional payoff and great teaser ending to potentially set up a second season. If a second season does happen, great if not this was still a good show overall apart from a couple of bumps in the road along the journey.
