Entitled “The Great Divide”, ENCHANT’s 8th studio album will be released on September 29th, 2014 in Europe and on September 30th, 2014 in North America via the band’s longtime label partner InsideOutMusic.
ENCHANT’s main songwriter and guitarist Douglas A. Ott had the following to say about the upcoming release:
"Well it's finally here folks! There was a time when I was unsure of ENCHANT’s future but fear not!
We've made another album after 10 years and we are very excited and proud of this endeavor!
Our new album is called The Great Divide and we can't wait for you to hear it! 9 brand new ENCHANT tracks, including 1 instrumental. Classic ENCHANT but with a bunch of new twists and turns! Long time in the making but it is surely worth the wait! Coming out late September, so be sure to check it out!"

Finally... :hat :metal :tup
-
Yeah, that was a fuckin TEASER alright!!! >:( Sounded great though. This is definitely a release day purchase.
-
Bout frikkin time. :metal
-
looking forward to it. 1st album in 11 years.
And the Blueprint Vinyl I DO WANT!
-
Hell to the yeah!!
-
About fucking time. Honestly thought they were done. :metal
-
And the Blueprint Vinyl I DO WANT!
Yes, Irritated that's not on the site yet for pre-order. dafuq
-
Wow I am stunned, I thought they were done and dusted.
I haven't listened to them in ages.
A very welcome return to say the least.
-
Holy hell. I remember hearing bits and pieces of A Blueprint of the World and enjoying it thoroughly, but never really got fully into them. Didn't seem like they were active at all during the time either so I thought they were done.
Definitely gonna check these guys out now that I'm reminded.
-
So I happened to get Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 last year through some giant web store sale, but never bothered to listen to it.
With news of the new album, and now that I am familiar with Ted Leonard, I've decided to listen to that album and I am loving it! I've decided to sample the rest of their discography but I've seen prices for the albums on Amazon and eBay and they're mostly hard-to-find or very expensive, except the last 3 albums. I guess I missed the boat with them as their first 3 or 4 albums are pricey.
But I'm sad I've missed out on them until now, but I'm glad I'm getting into them now that they have a new album coming out soon! I need more new music this year since it's been kind of boring for me.
-Marc.
-
I am one of probably many here who come to this new Enchant album having been introduced to the vocal stylings of Ted Leonard through his magnificent work on Spock's Beard's 11th opus, Brief Nocturnes & Dreamless Sleep.
-
So I happened to get Juggling 9 Or Dropping 10 last year through some giant web store sale
I got it through the same sale (I assume), along with a bunch of other albums. Something ridiculous like 70% off everything, if I remember correctly. I could use another one of those sales sometime soon :lol
But yeah, Juggling 9 or Dropping 10 is a great album.
-
I own all and Juggling is my favorite
-
I own all and Juggling is my favorite
Juggling is no. 2 behind Blueprint for me. Hoping they tour, it would be nice to see them again as a fan instead of the first time I saw them way the heck back on the Blueprint tour when they opened for Marillion.
-
I own all and Juggling is my favorite
Winner winner chicken dinner.
But they are all good.
-
I'm excited to see some new output from Enchant. Sure has been long enough. Though I would really love for Paul Craddick to be playing drums with them again.
But they are all good.
Have you not heard "Break" then? I like the title track and "My Enemy" but the rest of that album is forgettable.
-
I'm not familiar with this band, but I like the teaser and artwork. I'll check this out for sure.
-
While I was on vacation for 5 days I didn't get much news, but of what I got, this was clearly the best of it.
-
Nice!
I thought it was over.
Cover looks great.
Interested to hear what they come up with. Eleven years is a long time.
-
So I was listening to "Beautiful" from their album Tug Of War and it reminded me of "The Wall" by Kansas. Does anyone else get that feeling or is it just me?
-Marc.
-
Break has some great lyrics. It gets too much crap.
-
Break is a great record. "My Enemy" "The Lizard" "King" the title track are some of the best songs in Enchant's catalog.

I am missing Break. I want the special edition with the extra track which is OOP from what I can see.
Also missing one of the others I can't recall.
-

this shocks me. Start at the beginning and thank us later.
-
Comatose from Tug of War maybe in my all-time favorite songs. The solo is just killer.

I figured from your avatar. We were talking about SB and Shadow Gallery on facebook the other week.

As good a suggestion as any I guess.
Don't get turned off by Wounded. That was when Magna Carta wanted them and every other band on the label to sound like Dream Theater.

Teaser #2
-
Sweet, I'll check it out later.
They made a post on FB concerning Bay Area shows. Looks like at least I'll get to see them.
-
It sounds awesome! :metal
-
It sounds like classic Enchant.

Yusssssssssssssssssssss :metal

Did you know if these 10 additional songs are re-recordings? Thanks!

No, just what they posted.
-
If they are re-recordings, I'll need to pick that version up.
-
I have four tracks from the new album (obtained through a legit source). I'm on the first one now, and all I will say is Within an Inch is :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup I had to kill four other people for the extra thumbs needed.
EDIT: They're all that good. Man Sept. 30 is going to be awesome. This gets released, Evergrey gets released, and I get my first paycheck from my new job. GLORIOUS.

Excuse me while I kick myself. I only own J9D10 thanks to Doc in my last roulette. Excellent album, but I didn't make the plunge into any others. Just listened to A Blueprint of the World (random choice), and holy shnikee that was a good listen. My Spidey senses are telling me a complete discography purchase is pending.

My only argument against that is that I'm already that. Is it possible to fail at failing?
-
Can't wait to hear this.

Dang.... scooped me by eight minutes......
Sounds killer, can't wait for this album!!!
-
Me likey. Already pre-ordered.
-
I like my four tracks
As long as Chad keeps that avatar, I'm going to love it when Chad responds to RJ
-
It's been 10 years already, so I am waiting for the CD to arrive before I hear anything.
I just pre-0rdered the new album orange vinyl and Blueprint blue vinyl from the IO shop.
Can't wait ;D
-
Do we know if those bonus tracks are rerecordings yet? I don't want to make a move on this until I know.

Ditto - importing the 2CD mediabook/digibook version from EU is pricey, while the US version on the band's website only cost $10 + shipping. Super cheap! If the bonus disc is just a simple compilation, I'll spring for the US version, even though InsideOut's packaging is usually pretty gorgeous.
-Marc.
-
I haven't seen the track list for the second disc, but if it is a best of nothing new should be on it. It is a shame that that is the only way to get the bonus track, because the bonus track is a really sweet instrumental.
I think I've listened to the album 20 times this week and I should have a review written soon. I don't think anyone will be disappointed in the album.

Agreed, working on my review as well. It's a solid album for sure.

You better thank me for introducing the band to you :-*

I saw them live when you were still in high school my good man. (you did re-introduce me to them though, that will be noted ;) )

Maybe *he's* confusing you with me now?

2002 for me and thanks to some defunct prog site, I downloaded Under Fire and that was it. I went back and bought their whole catalog.

I'm holding off on this until I find out one way or the other.

Purchased from the band's/label's website? The $10 price point was really enticing, so when I get paid next Wednesday I may go ahead and order it. Glad to know the bonus track is on that.
Still haven't heard whether or not the EU version's second disc is a compilation or re-recording.
-Marc.
-
I bought it from Amazon.
I don't think it's a re-recording to be honest. At the most, it's just a partial remaster to have a constant EQ and volume across the different tracks.
-
I got my hands on The Great Divide about a week ago. It's really growing on me. My favourite song atm is Transparent Man. Beautiful chorus! Also, the cover art is awesome! It looks totally like a 70s prog gatefold sleeve!
-
Honestly, while it's good, I was fairly underwhelmed by it.

I like it but the new Flying Colors album trumps it for me right now.
-
I have never heard of this band.
-
I have never heard of this band.
No go out and buy a few albums
-
I have never heard of this band.
I hadn't until their lead singer took up the lead singer's post in Spock's Beard.
-
I have never heard of this band.
On one hand, they were pretty much dormant for 10 years. On the other hand, given your location, I'm really surprised you didn't trip over them somehow.
As for the new album, it's not their best, it's not their worst, it's a solid Enchant album. Was surprised after 10 years that it did hold a good bit of the Enchant sound to it. If you went in expecting that because it's been 10 years it better be the greatest thing since sliced bread, then you're probably disappointed. However it's a good rebound album and I'm excited to see them support it next year.
-
Perhaps my disappointment is because I JUST bought this back catalog a few weeks back, so in listening to everything, The Great Divide doesn't hold up to the others.
-
Yup agreed it's solid, nowhere a masterpiece, but given the time between albums, it's mildly disappointing.
Ten years is a long time to come up with very strong material and it seems this album might be a stepping stone to the next one being a killer release?
But if you asked me to make a best of Enchant CD, how many songs from this album would I put on it?
One, and it would really be at a push.
-
Enchant has always been one of those bands for me that I can enjoy all of their albums but none of them really stick out as being better or worse than the others.
I'm sure when I pick up the Great Divide that feeling won't change.
-
I have never heard of this band.

Seriously, I did :lol

If your disappointment is such that you don't want it anymore, I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands for something you'd be more happy with.
