Kinda mean article, but funny nonetheless:
https://www.metalsucks.net/2013/08/08/dave-mustaine-will-never-crawl-out-from-beneath-metallicas-shadow/
Bottom line of the article, the 22-year old Black album sold more copies last month than Megadeth's 2-month old Super Collider album.
-
Axl really hates Dave, and he does post too many articles ragging on Megadeth(who I don't even really like) but I found this pretty funny :lol
-
I may be reading this completely the wrong way, but I think that says more about what's left of the music industry than it says about Megadeth.
-
I'm one of those people who thinks Metallica >>>>>>>>>> Megadeth so this stuff is gold to me :rollin
-
Megadeth >>>>>>>> Metallica
However, Megadeth's last album wasn't that good at all, so there's that. And anyway, it's not like airplay and amounts of sold records necessarily correlate with the music being good.
-
I liked Super Collider better than Endgame.
-
I'm slowly warming up to Super Collider but the title track is inexplicably weak for having such a high expectation being placed on it and its chorus is fucking terrible.
-
To be fair - Metallica is the band at their absolute peak and Super Collider is well.......not.

On that note, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if Rust In Peace sold more than Super Collider last month as well.
Either way, that's not the point. The point is that this Axl guy seems like quite a dick.

He really doesn't like Dave Mustaine, David Draiman, or Korn in all.
Hell he actually rags on Metallica a lot, as he doesn't like any of their most recent material whatsoever.

Yeah, but it's one thing to constructively criticize someone's work, and it's another to put out an editorial just outright laughing at them, like a petty little kid. I don't like Guns and Roses (more for Axl Rose's personality than their music), but if this guy put out an editorial saying, "Dream Theater are the real artists, while Guns and Roses are a big stupid joke, so they suck," those kinds of statements are uncalled for, and if anything, only make him (and everything he supports) look bad.

Eh, it's his blog, he can talk about whatever he wants, it's not like his website is an actual publication, it's him and Vince talking about what they want, and they interview some guys in metal. It's actually a pretty nice place to pick up news on stuff, you can always skip these updates.

I think I'll get my news elsewhere.

Okay..
You'll be missing my witty banter in the comment section though ;)

Well he is a condesending, egotistical, hypocritical, colossal douchebag.

No disagreeing from me

I must clarify that I used to think David Draiman was the shit. Then I followed him on Twitter. What an asshole.

I saw some blowup he had at someone a year ago.. I never was a super big fan but it made me lol.
-
Not really all that surprising or funny to me; it is Metallica's Black album after all... plus Super Collider is pretty average for the most part.
-
A totally bitchy article, but that's ok, because I'm sure the Black Album is better than Megadeth's new album anyway. I'm pretty sure of that, since it's better than every Megadeth album.
I do like Megadeth, but I love the Black Album. And keep in mind that The Black Album is the highest selling album of the Soundscan era, and consistently sells in the order of 100k copies a year or so. I'm sure it outsells a lot of new albums after the first couple of weeks, including the ones we like.
-
I liked Super Collider better than Endgame.
I like Super Collider more than any metallica album, including TBA.

Agreed. The Black Album is good in small doses, when I'm in the mood, but it can't keep my attention for more than three songs in a row.
-
I actually got a couple of tweets from David Draiman. Seemed ok to me but that was just two tweets :P

I'd never listened to AJFA in it'e entirety til recently so I did that. . I listened to the whole thing in one sitting...
.. And then I put Sad But True afterwards :lol
The difference in production was just colosal. After an hour of thin, weak sounding guitars and drums - to being surrounded by the song almost with this
colossal guitar tone and huge drums :)
-

That title describes the situation pretty well, huh?
-
Depending on which album you prefer.
I happen to think Metallica is vastly superior to And Justice For All.
-
Megadeth > Metallica by a long shot. Still the black album is about a thousand times better than Super Collider, and it's only my third favourite Metallica album, maybe even #4.
As much as I love Megadeth, Dave should have ended the band after Endgame, which is one of their greatest albums. 13 was pretty good at best, and SC is so mediocre it's embarrassing.

I think their last 2 albums are vastly superior to Endgame. Endgame was just thrashturbation all the way through. It offered very little variety.
-
But it offered good songwriting. I'd rather have an album with great songwriting, great performances, great vocals and less variety than one (or two) with hit-or-miss songwriting, pretty good performances, Dave's vocals sounding horrible and lots of variety.
If you enjoy the last two, that's great, but I don't.

Well, I'm sorry that you don't, but I disagree with you and saying, "He should've stopped after Endgame" would mean that I would've missed out on what I think are two very awesome Heavy Metal albums, that, in my opinion, did have great songwriting, performances, etc.
-
The weird thing is that I'm a big fan of Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings (CW is my second favourite Deth album after RIP), but the last two albums still seem really forgettable to me.

Well, at least you're a fan of Cryptic Writings. I won't dismiss your opinion just yet. :tup
Super Collider had to grow on me, to be honest, but after maybe 4 listens, I really started appreciating all the things he did in it.
As for 13... I don't know, I just thought it was a really stellar album, in spite of using some recycled material. Especially the second half.
-
I can't listen to Megadeth because of Dave's voice.
-
If you can appreciate the music, you'll learn to appreciate the vocals as well :metal
-
I'm not overly keen on them either :P
-
Have you heard Rust In Peace in its entirety? If you have and you still don't like it, that's fine, but at least give the full album a go :2metal:
-
I may do that tonight :) . . remind me :P
-
I don't really see a point of that article. I know Dave has had his issues over the years, but the people are still way too mean to him, and this ''fun fact'' is just example of people getting the kick out of pissing him off. And I'm not saying that because I liked Super collider.
-

Yeah, I agree with this. Fact is, Dave is still way more successful than all of the people that rip into him with these kinds of articles could even dream to be, so he's getting the last laugh in the long run.
-
Am I the only one who doesn't really see why Mustaine is considered to be such a dick? In the interviews I've seen with him, he seems to be a bit of a smart-ass, but not a raging asshole.

He's become a right-wing nutjob akin to Ted Nugent.
-
I think Dave has really cleaned his act up from how he used to be, but it doesn't take much research to see why a lot of people don't like him at all :lol He's also pretty obnoxious about his political beliefs...
-
Metallica hasn't put out an album I can listen to start to finish since and justice for all. Megadeth the same since RIP. I didn't even know Megadeth came out with a new album lol Guess I'll have to check it out.
-
Ignore the new album, listen to Endgame instead.
-

FTFY
Personally, I'm pretty stoked to hear some Super Collider songs at Gigantour, later today.

Countdown To Extinction? Youthanasia? Cryptic Writings? The System Has Failed? Endgame?
Ignore the new album, listen to Th1rt3en instead.
FTFY
Err, no :P

Even most people who aren't fans of Super Collider said they liked 13, so it's a generally favored album. From the reception I've seen, anyway.

I don't think so.

Maybe not. But I don't think Endgame was that good.
-
So Kotowboy, did you listen to RIP? :)
