Since I don't know if the future concerts are for sure I'll just post what I've been to.
2-4-13: Enslaved, Pallbearer, Royal Thunder, Ancient VVisdom
-
so far all I know I am going to is Opeth/Katatonia May 18 in Tulsa
-
I hope anyone that interests me will actually come here this year. And I plan on seeing DT wherever they stop by close on Euro tour, since they never came to Serbia and likely never will.
-
The Tallest Man on Earth (Feb 14)
Agalloch + Fen (May 11)
Roger Waters (performing The Wall) (August 17)
-
Seeing Sabaton next Saturday in Denver. Might see Jeff loomis in April, and might go out of town to see Paganfest NA. Beyond that, don't know yet.
-
So far I have seen:
Ramona Falls
Down
Warbeast
Enslaved
Pallbearer
Royal Thunder
Ancient VVisdom
And depending on the weather tomorrow....Coheed and Cambria, Between The Buried And Me, Russian Circles.
-
No concerts yet,..... it even seems I will open this year's concert season with my band in late February. Apart from that, it's likely I will see:
13.3. Sabaton/Eluveitie/Wisdom - Zagreb
29.4. Meshuggah - Zagreb
30.4. Rammstein - Ljubljana
18.5. Brkovi - Zagreb ("The beards" - Croatian folk punk rock)
21./22.6. Seerock Festival - Graz (Maiden, Motörhead, Stone Sour, Slayer, Ghost,....)
..... no other good concerts announced yet in Croatia, so it depends on that issue. And I'd like to score at least another major festival which is subject to where & when I'll get employed, days off, holidays.....
-
Thank You Scientist & The Tea Club - 3/3
Yes - 4/5
Steven Wilson - 4/26
Rush - 5/9
I'm trying to see Riverside & Jolly in May but that's not looking likely. I'd also like to see Steve Hackett, but so far the only New England date is in September, when I'll be in college. It won't happen, but it would be great if he played a show in NYC in the spring or summer.
-
1. Coheed and Cambria
2. KMFDM
3. Deftones maybe
-
So far:
Adrenaline Mob
Richard Cheese

Hmmmm wouldn't be so sure about that - DT in a way neglect SE Europe, but every tour they visited at least one or two countries in this corner of the world. I'd even speculate they'll come to Serbia this year, probably to Hala sportova.....
And how about Burning Sea Festival in Zadar?
-
The Who(last week)
Firewind(two weeks)
Yes(3/5)
Lots more time in the year to add to the list though.
-

Not gonna happen, believe me
I would LOVE to. There's a local band even playing there (Forever Storm, awesome guys and band), and a friend from a webzine I work at playing there, and there's just so many bands on the roster I would like to see, but it takes place during my crucial exam "season" and there's no way in hell I can just rely on cramming, like, seven exams in just two later exam terms. But if I went to see a festival this year, it would be Burning Sea.
Firewind(two weeks)
GNNNNH you're seeing Kelly Carpenter :-X
-
18.5. Brkovi - Zagreb ("The beards" - Croatian folk punk rock)
Wow, this is something I never thought I'd see at DTF. :lol Some friends of mine saw their concert here in Belgrade a while ago and absolutely loved it. I wasn't too interested, but I might catch them next time.
Until then, here's the plan for 2013. What I know for sure:
Rammstein - April 28th
Mark Knopfler - April 30th
Joe Satriani - May 24th
Roger Waters performing The Wall - September 1st
Other plans include some concerts abroad:
Iron Maiden - wherever near, depending on my exams
Dream Theater - wherever near, not really depending on anything, it's a must
Spock's Beard - depending on their tour dates, fingers crossed for Budapest
Rush - depends on quite a lot of things, traveling to Berlin is a huge thing
Helloween & Gamma ray - depending on whether I'll really be interested
I can already safely say this will be the best concert year of my life. :metal

Hahahahah zdravo Mladen!!!!
Yes, expect everything from Balkanian DTF members :lol I even think we should open a Yugoslavian thread somewhere and share bands to each other. Anyway, I fully recommend them, they're funny, have great lyrics and are just a "feelgood band" so it's an absolute must! ;)
-
Nothing until September. After then, most likely nothing either :-\
-
Roger Waters performing The Wall - September 1st
Dream Theater - wherever near, not really depending on anything, it's a must
OMG how did I forget Roger Waters??? Of course I'll be there. Still, that's pretty far, in September.
Also we're teaming up for DT, it's mandatory, I don't care :D the only Serbian DTFers. My ex-boyfriend also made a pinky promise to go hunt them with me. And if you are going with other people as well, that will be epic.
-
Deftones - on Friday! :metal The last time they were in Glasgow was probably my favourite gig ever and I love their new album, so really looking forward to it. Supported by Letlive and Three Trapped Tigers - will probably give them a miss and save more time for drinking, don't think my mate is too bothered about seeing them.
Long Distance Calling - March 20th. Very cool mostly instrumental band. Just a small venue I think, don't know how many people will be there but I've not seen them before and heard they are pretty good live. They have a new album out in a few weeks and I've heard they've added a vocalist for about half the album instead of just having one guest vocalist for one song on their previous albums - so I'm not sure how that will work out. Being supported by Sólstafir and Sahg - haven't heard of them before, but I'll check them out before the gig, see if it's worth getting in early.
Haven't got anything else planned at the moment. But I'll hopefully get to see more live music than I did last year. All I saw was DT last February and then Opeth and Anathema in November. My mate from Glasgow couldn't come to Opeth/Anathema in the end, so I just went on my own. I hadn't done that before, but it was fine, so I'll have no problem doing it again if he's busy or doesn't fancy any bands I want to see.
-
I even think we should open a Yugoslavian thread somewhere and share bands to each other.
I think that, besides us, there's just one more ex-Yu person on here (Tomislav95) so the four of us wouldn't have a good time :D
Well not that we're not awesome incarnate! But that's too little people to keep a topic alive.
-

Yes, I think he's from Croatia too and he seldomly shows up here. Oh, well, then we'll have to attract other people to register here. Go on, create a banner and put it on top of MetalStorm and some local e-fanzines, I'll call up my FB prog friends :lol

I've been totally persuading my ex-boyfriend to register since he adores the type of humor in the DT side, but he is so not a forum person. SOMEDAY.

Sure, lets make a thread for three or four of us, it will be a massive success of a thread. ;D
I think we've had a deal for quite a while about going to see Dream Theater, and it's good to know you're not thinking about getting out of it. It's going to be quite an experience, I hope some friends of mine will go as well. I've honestly made some great friendships during my previous trips to see DT, it will be great to see some of those people again. :D
-
Just saw Between the Buried and Me and Coheed and Cambria. Hoping to catch Opeth and Alice in Chains in May.
-

2013 DREAM THEATER TOUR. Here we come.
-
Just saw Between the Buried and Me and Coheed and Cambria.
How was that?
I'm going to see them in March
Then in May: Opeth/Katatonia, Rush, and hopefully Riverside as well.

I've never been a fan of BTBAM (though I've now been forced to see them 3 times as openers for other bands :lol), but Coheed put on a killer show. All of the lights in the venue turned on, and their sound cut out for 5-10 seconds at one point, and they didn't miss a beat.
-
I saw Titus Andronicus for free at a local record store, so I'm all set for shows this year. Although I kinda wanna see Bosnian Rainbows next week, I don't think I'll be able to make up to New York for it.
-
Firewind(two weeks)
GNNNNH you're seeing Kelly Carpenter :-X
Tickets were only $15,very small club.

I've already got Morrissey and Phoenix lined up for March and Boris in May. The year is still young.
-
Hopefully
Steven Wilson
Peter Gabriel
Rush
Roger Waters
Download Festival

And I plan on seeing DT wherever they stop by close on Euro tour, since they never came to Serbia and likely never will.
You know what's more painful than expecting to never see DT in your home country? To know that they played within 1 km's distance from your home when you were 7 years old and the setlist was this (https://mikeportnoy.com/dates/tourography/?show=637)! :censored
In Flames and Children of Bodom have been confirmed for Provinssirock this year, but I don't like the newer stuff by either band and I saw a headlining gig by COB back in 2009 already, so I'm not keen on spending over 60€ (or even more if they play on different days) for those 2 bands. Rush will come to Helsinki in the summer, but I'm still just getting into them, and the setlist for the current tour seems to be focused on the synth era stuff, so I probably won't go there either.
Amorphis haven't confirmed any club gigs for this year yet, but they will definitely come here again, so I'll most likely use the opportunity and see them for the 5th time. Sonata Arctica may play here as well, or if not, they'll probably come next year. I'm also expecting to see DT at the beginning of 2014, if the tour schedule will be similar to the ADTOE tour.
-
Roger Waters (performing The Wall) (August 17)
-
Only one.It's Swans. (April 7)
I hope anyone that interests me will actually come here this year. And I plan on seeing DT wherever they stop by close on Euro tour, since they never came to Serbia and likely never will.
I hope DT comes to Serbia and Turkey this year. I want my second DT concert now.
-

Nooo, that is too bad!! I had almost the same situation in 2005 when I was just discovered DT and next week they were in Helsinki and the setlist was THIS (https://mikeportnoy.com/dates/tourography/?show=858), but I was too young for going there and haven't been in any concert before that.
But back to topic, for me, nothing confirmed yet...
I don't know about Rush yet, I have seen them once but another time won't be so bad ;)
Iron Maiden will be here again in summer, but I have seen them once too so I'm not sure if I want to see them again...
I'm still waiting better names for festivals, Leprous in Tuska Festival would be really interesting but I don't now my schedule there yet.
This also:
I'm also expecting to see DT at the beginning of 2014, if the tour schedule will be similar to the ADTOE tour.

Iron Maiden will be here again in summer, but I have seen them once too so I'm not sure if I want to see them again...
Bands like AC/DC,Iron Maiden etc. if you see them live once,It's enough tbh.
-
At the moment i only have one booked ticket for Maiden in July but there's alot of gigs on my bucket list for this year.
-

I've seen 'em once (Maiden, that is), and it might just be me, but I'd definitely see them again. AC/DC, maybe not - especially with their ticket prices these days. But Maiden, definitely.
-
Gonna see Coheed on the 22nd and Tremonti on March 5th.

I can't relate to that at all! If i like the band, why would one concert be enough?

I already have a few concerts in my calender
22.02 Volbeat - Odense
14.05 Bruce Springsteen - Copenhagen
24.05 Rush - London
25.05 Muse - London
26.05 Rush - Birmingham
28.05 Rush - Sheffield
30.05 Rush - Glasgow
01.06 Muse - Manchester
06.06 Rush - Berlin
11.06 Kiss - Valby
19.06 Iron Maiden - Hamburg
10.07 Iron Maiden - Malmö
22.07 Robbie Williams - Copenhagen
23.07 Robbie Williams - Copenhagen
11.08 Roger Waters - Copenhagen
17.08 Leonard Cohen - Odense
04.09 Roger Waters - Berlin
14.09 Roger Waters - London
Bruce, Kiss and Robbie will be firsttimers
As for Maiden. I really hope they keep the same setlist from the US leg cause that one is sweet :metal
I have rediscovered my love for Rush, so I'm making up for lost time by seeing them as many times that my wallet will allow me
The Wall = The greatest show on Earth
Leonard Cohen is Superman. He is in his late seventies and he still gives us 3½ hours concerts. Take that DT ;)
Not a big fan of the 2nd Law from Muse, so I primarily come for their older stuff

Maiden will be touring on the same "theme" so probably it'll be the same setlist, maybe with one or two songs different.... Went to Muse a few months ago - neither I am a real fan of 2nd Law but Animals, Panic Station and Madness are killing it live, as are their older songs, of course :metal

- 16.5.: Spock's Beard + ? (Rüsselsheim)
- 17.5.: Spock's Beard + ? (Bochum)
Just a little correction: I'm not going to appear as the support act to Spock's Beard :neverusethis:
On a more serious note, I'm jealous of everyone who's going to see Opeth and Katatonia together, or Roger Waters! :( I just started to feel that this is going to be a sucky gig year to me :sadpanda:

Opeff 5.5 Raleigh, North Carolina

-
A question for you guys listing Spock's beard dates - where did you find about the dates?
I did via the Inside Out facebook page.
-
Too lazy to look up the dates, but in order of attendance:
Steven Wilson @ Melkweg, Amsterdam
North Sea Jazz Festival (Santana, Sting, John Legend, Martin Medeski & Wood etc.) @ Ahoy, Rotterdam
System of a Down @ Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam
Fleetwood Mac @ Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam
Looking forward to all these pretty much equally.
Still deciding on which major alternative festival to go to.. I'm stuck between Roskilde in Denmark or Rock Werchter in Belgium.
-
So far:
Black Label Society - March 6 - Club Nokia, Los Angeles (semi unplugged "unblackened" show)
Steven Wilson - May 10 (i think) - Club Nokia, Los Angeles
Opeth / Katatonia (I hope) May 25, The Canyon Club, Agoura Hills, Ca

Oh, yeah! Iron Maiden is coming to Zagreb on July 31th :hefdaddy
Yes, I heard this in the morning and about 10 to 15 people called me and started asking me "directions", like I know anything more than the webzines just because I played in a Maiden tribute band :P
Anyway, it's a must. As I'll see them in Austria from the fan pit, I'm gonna take my mother with me and we'll be in the stands, just to thank her in a very special way for everything she's done for me :hefdaddy
Milena, Mladen: interested? Zagreb is pretty close! ;D

Currently waiting to see if they'll confirm anything here, since they usually don't skip us but I wouldn't rule out going to Zagreb!
-
Milena, Mladen: interested? Zagreb is pretty close! ;D
I'll consider it, although I'm leaning towards Bratislava or Graz, which are earlier and some of my friends have already got tickets. I doubt we'll see a Serbian date, Milena. They usually do only one in the region, which makes sense.

Yeah, I know. A girl can hope, though, it would be infinitely easier.
Also, Canadian friends on my news feed posting about seeing four shows in one week. I have seen three bigger shows in total in my live music career. Whoever said everyone everywhere was born equal, I wanna kick his sorry ass :lol

Right.

For me:
(Not strictly a concert) Alan Davies - Hammersmith February 17th (Comedian)
British Lion - Islington 26th March
Spock's Beard - The Garage 7th May
Seriously hoping Iron Maiden announce some more dates for the UK, don't like the idea of festivals.
-
I think I'm going to see The Fixx in a very small club about 20 minutes from where I live in April. Haven't seen them since the 80's.
-
If you have the chance to see Rush, I would take that chance. They are killer live, whether you enjoy the 80's period or not!
-
Going to see Opeth in Allentown, PA on the 27th. Beyond stoked, it will be my first time seeing them :metal :metal :metal

I'm going to be seeing Muse on March 5th in Columbus, OH. It'll be my first time seeing them, so I'm fairly excited! My roommate has seen them before and says they're actually pretty damn good live.

I'm in Oxnard. More of a punk and hardcore scene here than metal. lol
-
OMG, Slayer are coming to Zagreb in June...... what has happened to concert dates in Croatia? Is it because of the fact we're joining EU and they want to congratulate us????
Sabaton, Meshuggah, Down, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Vader, Whitesnake, Iced Earth....... Burning Sea Festival in Zadar,....... I'll be spoilt!
-
*bump*
Came back home a few hours ago.... watched Sabaton and Eluveitie live..... while Sabaton was the powerhorse of the evening and Joakim spent a lot of time communicating ( :hefdaddy ) with us attendees, I still liked Eluveitie more, they play some badass folk death metal and deserve some love!
Next stop Meshuggah......

3-9-13 Rivers of Nihil @ The Radio Bar.
Did not give a damn about the two local acts, Rivers of Nihil destroyed, even though they only got to play 5 or so songs.

Besides Steven Wilson at the end of April I am going old school 80's nostalgia seeing The Fixx in a 300 seat venue. That place is made for music.
-
This is all I know about for right now.

Probable: David Byrne and St. Vincent; Tera Melos and TTNG

As of right now I have
Opeth w Steven Wilson at the end of April
Rush may 9
And I think I'm getting dragged to two summer country concerts...please god give me the strength to endure them with my sanity.

Country isn't good, at all, but country girls have a certain charm to them. I think you'll survive.

Country music is like metal music - what you hear on the radio is awful, but scratch the surface and there's some damn good stuff there.
-
Seriously hoping Iron Maiden announce some more dates for the UK, don't like the idea of festivals.
I went to see them at the O2 last time, and it was probably the BEST arena show I've ever been to. But there's no way I'm seeing them at Download (do they even do 1 day tickets anymore?). I understand that they're popular all over the globe, and have to play these big shows, but they're a BRITISH band, ferchisakes - this is their home turf.

I am in position to backstage-pass myself actually (sorry for verbing nouns lol) via Metal Storm, but I am always too scared to do anything of the sort ;D I can always take the "meeting Nem" and "joining the cult" parts though
-
I couldn't be happier

Just saw that Michale Graves is going to be playing at a bar somewhat near me on April 13. If I can russel someone up to go with I may be going :tup
-
Seeing Exodus on the 12th of April. Someone in the Tampa area's gotta want to go to that with me.

Just added Paul Gilbert (25.3., Aschaffenburg/Germany). :hat

System of a Down is playing at the Hollywood Bowl this summer... and I'm fucking there.

SeRoX, fuck yeah :metal
Have to say, Özlem Tekin's new album is out, I'm her friend and probably will be touring with her around Turkey. I'd like to see you at Istanbul concert if possible.

Way cool! Sounds like a plan to me! :D
-
I'm afraid I'll be so busy for the rest of the year that the Stratovarius gig I saw earlier this month was both my first and last concert this year. Well, at least it was a good one. :metal
-
I'm hoping to see Astra and The Besnard Lakes, but I've booked tickets to see Camel, which I'm really excited about.
-
Long Distance Calling were great last night, quite short though. They'd been playing my favourite song as an encore at previous gigs, but they didn't play it last night some reason :(
Anyway, I've now got 'And So I Watch You From Afar' lined up for next month. Their new album is pretty fun.
-
System of a Down in August
Roger Waters - The Wall in September
Can't wait for either of them!
-
Onno: Nice

Have they improved the setlist yet? ::)
-
Have they improved the setlist yet? ::)
No and I like it this way so shush :lol it might change for the East Europe leg since we've (well, excluding Poland obvs) seen 0% of the Reality Dream anyway.

Please don't give me a heart attack. :lol I heard these rumors as well, but I'm not believing in anything until I see it on their website...
-
Mladen, are you gonna go see Riverside, or Anathema in April?
-
Nope, I'm not a fan of either. But I've got a whole lot of other concerts to see this year, so no biggie. :D
-
Yeah, we're bound to meet at one of them... and take a very weirdly angled pictured for le DTF because I am shorter than John Myung and you are taller than Kevin Moore ;D

Riverside is in Zagreb on June 5th :)
Are they good live? I have to choose between them and Slayer that month.
-
Right now, my upcoming concerts during the year are:
*Agalloch (+ Fen) - May 11
*Way Out West Festival (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Neil Young, Beach House and more bands) - August 8-10
*Roger Waters (performing The Wall) - August 17
*Sigur Rós - November 27
-

No one beats Slayer..... I've already seen them twice and can't get enough, even though they'll most likely be touring with John Dette. Doesn't matter! I already have a ticket to Tvornica :metal

I was at their show last year, too and it was great but I'm not going if Lombardo os not behind the drums.
I will attend Satriani's and Maiden's show (can't wait).

Riverside was one of my favorite bands but I stopped listening to them for few month (for unknown reason) and really like their new album(listened to it entirely just twice) so I will probaby attend their show (if Lombardo don't come back).

Hm, and I might hop on the Satriani train, especially as I'd like to see Minnemann once again :azn: Finally great concerts in my village  I especially like the Meshuggah gig which is going to be on 29th April as they're touring with Decapitated and Animals as leaders, it'll be an interesting evening! :metal

Whenever I read this thread I curse my birthplace... :(
-
Che cosa vuoi, sei nato all'Italia!!!!?
-
Che cosa vuoi, sei nato all'Italia!!!!?
Oh, this creeped me out, despite the little mistake at the end. :lol
The problem is not Italy (well, it is too, but that's not the point of this particular cursing). The problem is, as you know, that living in the big island in the middle of the sea, it is always very expensive and never straightforward to attend gigs in the continent (the way we call the rest of Italy). Matter of fact, I have only managed to do it once, after several months of careful thinking and organization.
-
Once you move you'll be in a far better position than us folks from the Balkans, as tours swing by Italy more often than Croatia or Serbia, so
-
DT is in Italy few times a year but they obviosly don't like us.They were in Croatia just once, in 2007 (on my birthday - it's a sign) and I didn't listening to them. But if they don't come this year I'll catch them on European tour in neighbour countries.

Damn. Well, I had Italian at school (liceo) but obviously I've forgotten something over the years :lol
Yes, I got you. Well, if you have any plan of moving to Rome or Milano it'll be just as Milena said, you'll be better off than most of us folks, although I'm sure you have your particular reasons for staying on the island....

This has been so far (and will be) a great concert year for Croatia, except that Burning Sea Festival has been cancelled (in its prior form). It could well happen..... DT announcing a gig in Croatia...... we'll see ;)
-
Looks like Fates Warning is coming through on tour later this year. So that makes two shows (including the Pain of Salvation show).
Someone from work asked if I'd be interested in seeing Fear Factory when they come through; still thinking about that one.
-
Going watching the stranglers tonight ;D
-
Flashback to the 80's!!
Seeing The Fixx tonight in a 300 seat venue made in an old barn with great acoustics. You can bring your own booze for $3. Win win!

I'm two weeks late but I'll ask anyway: Is known will there be small festival in Zadar instead of cancelled Burning Sea like it was with Rokaj Fest last year (Gojira, Mastodon, Slayer - it was great :D )
EDIT: https://www.underwallfestival.com/
OMG. Destruction, "not yet confrimed headliner" and bunch of Croatian metal bands only for about 15 Euros :O
"Tuesday, April 9th, where the second headliner will be confirmed soon, as a totally unexpected surprise for all the Croatian fans." Well, they are late but we're waiting ;)

There are two quite awesome Serbian bands in there :)
In the meantime, some unexpected announcements, and this year I'll be seeing Anathema, Riverside, Leprous, Orphaned Land and Children Of Bodom :hat

Got tickets to the RAH Steven Wilson gig.

Amorphis usually play at least one gig per year here, so I'm expecting to see them again, but I bet there won't be anything else for me... :sadpanda: Well, seeing DT next year should make up for that ;D
BTW, I read an interview with Santeri and he said Amorphis will play in Eastern Europe on the upcoming tour ;) Haven't they played in Serbia once before?

Don't be a pessimist (I know, slim chance, right? :D) :-*
Yeah, they have in 2008, but I wasn't aware of them back then and I wouldn't have had anyone to go with anyway. I hope they'll come back though. I have to see them, and Kamelot, and Dream Theater... :-X

Don't expect too much from me :-*
Here's the interview: https://rock-the-bow.ch/amorphis-santeri-kallio-im-interview-englisch/
First we do festivals in the summer 2013, then we try to go to South-America. We are also planning Australia and Japan trip in autumn and got some offers for a tour in Russia. In November we´ll do the first European leg and then make as many shows as possible in Finland. So maybe closer to 100 shows before any breaks. If we can we try also get to the US, maybe next spring and tour in east-europe.
"as many shows as possible in Finland" sounds promising! :caffeine:
EDIT: Tomi K also talks about a second European leg here (https://www.rocking.gr/interviews/en/Amorphis-interview-Tomi-Koivusaari/15821/)

I went to the RAH Porcupine Tree gig back in 2010, so RAH EVERYRAH.

Yes, I'm really looking forward to this festival. It's possible to get special band passes and I'll buy mine from Infernal Tenebra! My parents live close to Zadar (when they're not in Germany) so I'll be visiting them and the festival :metal

I saw them a month-or-so ago at Soundwave and they were absolutely terrific. I'm not even a Slayer listener, but I can safely say that they were one of the biggest highlights of the festival that day. I would definitely recommend seeing them in their current form, based upon the performance I saw.
-
Gonna see two really big bands this year.
1. Rush in Amsterdam, beginning of June.
2. Iron Maiden, in Friends Arena, Stockholm.

I was on Slayer's show last year and they were fantastic, maybe I will go again despite Dette is behind the drums. And show is during holidays so I don't have to worry about school.

Jealous. Though the whole "we gotta record/master/etc a new live dvd in under 13 hours" is insane, they did it.. but how poor did it turn out?

Gonna get my tickets for Riverside tomorrow. Woot!

I've been to a few this year.
Devin Townsend and Gojira
In Flames
Yes
Going to see:
Opeth and Katatonia
Alice in Chains
Alice Cooper and Marylin Manson
Probably:

Black Sabbath

Just got back from Fauxchella (an indie rock festival featuring bands from CT, NY, and MA), and it was a great time. I had my face melted multiple times. Great Caesar, Ports of Spain, The Guru, and Bear Hands absolutely slayed. Well worth the $20 I spent.
-
Just got to say the Marillion weekender in Wolverhampton was one of the best experiences of my life. That is all.
Jealous. Though the whole "we gotta record/master/etc a new live dvd in under 13 hours" is insane, they did it.. but how poor did it turn out?
Actually, it's pretty good - the picture and sound quality is excellent, and while there's the occasional bit of sloppy camerawork, it doesn't distract. I'm looking forward to the Saturday (Port Zeland) and Sunday (Montreal) night DVDs - the extra time to mix and master them should make them awesome!
-
As of this moment my confirmed concerts are:
Iron Maiden
Bon Jovi
Sweden Rock Festival
Should be a good start! :metal
-
Concerts seen:
Overkill
Coheed and Cambria
Ghost
Tesla
Caspian
Concerts to come:
Mayhem Festival
Uproar Festival ( on my birthday)
-
seen some already, but still to come are:
Death to all-4/25
Neal Morse/flower kings-5/5 (anyone else going?)
Ghost-5/12
Clutch/the sword-5/17
Baroness (maybe?)-5/24
The Rolling Stones-6/18
hopefully:
mayhem fest
intronaut/scale the summit
Robert plant
black sabbath
DT if touring..
\m/
-
Steven Wilson: 4/26
RoSfest (Bolus, The Flower Kings, Jolly, Pain of Salvation, Believe, Riverside, DTES, MoeTar, Electric Asturias, Shadow Gallery): 5/3 - 5/5
Rush: 5/9
Project/Object: 5/11
Looks like that will be all for a while. Pretty much out of money!
-
Expected to go to the Cult of Luna concert on Saturday, but it has been cancelled. So I'll visit my parents in Dalmatia (not working this weekend) and on Monday, there's Meshuggah in town. Supported by Decapitated :metal
-
So I just read about this:
Ill Repute, Dr. Know, Aggression and Stalag 13 are all legendary local punk bands from the height of the scene (80s) here where I live. I've seen Ill Repute once (one of the best shows I have ever been to!) and a partial Dr. Know lineup play a set... a lot of these bands are pretty much defunct and play a show or two once in a while... to get them all on the same bill? :caffeine:
-
I've got to add
Joe Satriani w/ special guest Steve Morse
-
Been to the Meshuggah/Decapitated concert a few days ago. Well....... Meshuggah is an ok band when I pick a few songs and run through them on Winamp before switching to other artists, but live? After the third/fourth song I had the feeling that I've heard all the guys had to offer. The instrumentalists' skills are really high but I'm not really a huuuuuge fan of songs played without any tempo changes so from time to time, I would yawn during their set. Decapitated was much better although they had a much worse PA system.
Luckily I didn't have to pay for the show......
Next stop: Riverside!
-
Saw Rammstein on Sunday and they kicked some ass. Saw Mark Knopfler two days later, it was a really nice concert, but the arena was still hot after Rammstein. ;D
-
Saturday Night ...Metal Militia Benefit show for the Victims of Hurricane Sandy
All I can say is holy shit......
Order
Lords of Mercy ....local band, AC/DC Buckcherry kind of vibe...not really my thing but the sounded good live
The Rods......Anyone who loves hard rock/blues based metal needs to check them out ( they have been around since the 80's ...once saw Metallica open...that's right open for these guys)...great set about 45 minutes Carl Canedy is a monster live..this band is so tight the albums really don't capture the energy they bring live
Raven..........Haven't seen them in probably 20 years .....Totally forgot about Mark's vocal range ...dude still hits some incredible screams...Totally energenic from start to finish...there set was cut short , guess it was due to too much time spent trying to get sing alongs and the unusually long times between sets ( Eddie Trunk was hosting the how and spoke between each band...reminding people it was a benefit...all proceeds so to the victims...buy your shirts...buy your raffles..blah.. blah )
Place held 2100 people and the show was listed as sold out....crowd really started filling in now as the next band up was
Twisted "fuckin" Sister
I have seen these guys well in excess of 100 times and 35 years later they are still incredible ...shame is people only associated them with the MTV bubble gum era ( I wanna Rock/We're not gonna take it) but they tore the roof of the building, the energy of Dee and the boys was incredible, they knew they were on a time constraint so they ran through their songs with little banter from Dee between the song . PS.. they have one of my favorite opening songs of all time in "What you don't know"...if your unfamiliar with the song or the lyrics...please check it out.. Snake Sabo..from Skid Row joined them on stage for " Under the Blade"
Anvil
Another band I haven't seen since the wild and rebellous years ....Tight as hell, Lips always looks like he is having a great time and Robb Reiner is a monster on the drums ....they introduced a new bass player and once or twice he seemed to get lost for a bar or two....pretty much stuck to their early discography but introduced 2 songs from the New album Hope in Hell....towards the end of their set people started heading for the doors as it was now 1 am ..this show had started at 7 and I guess all the fogies ( myself included just can't handle standing for 6 hours) ...
TT QUICK a local band who had some regional success re-united (Mark now sings for Accept) played later in the night...I was long gone by the time they came on but from some reviews for a band that hasn't played together since 2009 they were extremely good
-
Cool gig Bill.
I got a nice looking week coming up in July...
6th - Rush
7th - Avantasia
12th - Harem Scarem/WarMachine/Heaven's Fire
-
So far the only one will be Steven Wilson next Saturday.
-
First note to my gig calendar I can be 100% sure about: Paradise Lost on September 11 :metal
-
I'd like to add Dada for Nov 3th at this cool farmhouse about 20 minutes from my house.
-
Amaranthe in NYC in July
Should be interesting to see the turnout for them headlining.
-
My upcoming for sure shows...
Scorpion Child next month
Kamelot/Delain in Sept.
Anathema/Alcest in Oct.
-
Couple more potential gigs for me in the Autumn - 65daysofstatic in September and Baroness a month later. Though they are both on Sundays, which isn't ideal for me. 65dos is in Edinburgh which is even less ideal and their musical style is changing a bit from what I like, plus I've seen them before anyway.
-
Might be possible to sneak My Bloody Valentine in as a show to see this August. If it happens, this will be the second time for me to see their awesomeness ever.
-
Attended Riverside concert on 5th June which really inspired me to go out and, uhm, "buy" some more of their records. It doesn't happen often that a band I haven't listened to often makes me headbang and smile as much as did those Polish guys. So, soon my Last.FM counter will show more of their pieces, I guess ;)
Then, Underwall Festival in a coastal Croatian town called Zadar which had mostly bands from Croatia and neighbours (for example, Forever Storm from Kragujevac, they did a really good job!); headliners were two thrash bands: Xentrix from UK and Destruction from Germany. For some 20 $ I got to listen to 30 good bands!
Next stop: Seerock Festival in Austria (headliners Maiden, Slayer, Motörhead, Stone Sour, Limp Bizkit, Ghost.....)
-
Seeing Josh Rouse and Fitz & the Tantrums in Minneapolis this weekend.
Nektar and Wishbone Ash in a few weeks.
Yes in August
-
Nektar and Wishbone Ash in a few weeks.
That should be a great show! I've heard that both bands are still great despite their ages.
-
The See Rock Festival 2013 in Graz, Austria is over.
Highlights (chronologically):
- Ghost: Papa's singing sounded and looked like on playback but in the end I think he sung live. Nice but short gig. I wonder how they endured the high temperatures in their robes.....
- Newsted: Man, this dude has got some energy in his tank. As if he's never been on stage with Metallica! Screaming, communicating, jumping.... very nice. Really looking forward to hearing his new album!
- Behemoth: Polish black/death metal. Didn't hear anything before the gig, so they pleasantly surprised me and I shall check them out.
- Stone Sour: very energized performance from all members, and of course they played Children of the grave! Corey threw a few bottles of water into the audience and received tons of plastic cups from us ;D I'd been waiting for quite a few years to see them live and haven't been disappointed!
- Iron Maiden: cooooooooooooooooooooooooool! Bruce sometimes sounded like a diva (while singing), so good! Almost caught a wristband from Janick :blush the concert highlights were definitely Phantom of the opera (bought the book in Graz after the concert because of sheer inspiration!) and Seventh son of a seventh son (already read ;D ) go to their concerts, it's value for money!
2nd day:
- Eisbrecher: Bavarian industrial metal band.... during their show a hailstorm started, some pretty big icecubes fell from the sky. The gig had to be paused.....
- Slayer: No big production but great sound. They had a wallpaper tributing to Hanneman, nice thing. It was funny to see the shocked Limp Bizkit fangirls watching how those thrash metal legends made the other 98% of the audience mad
- Limp Bizkit: uninspiring. Spent most of the concerts sitting on the ground. The motion of their gig was something like "That album from 2000, Killing in the name and two more songs!" Ok setlist, but why don't they trust their newer records?
Caught guitar picks from Newsted's guitarist and Tom Araya, so I can be happy enough!
Slayer in Zagreb tonight :coolio
-
Coheed & Cambria
Steven Wilson
Opeth
up next:
Iron Maiden/Megadeth
Sigur Ros
Still trying to decide on Joe Satriani and hopefully I'll get a couple more for the rest of the year, especially Anathema/Alcest.
-
Haven't been hitting too many concerts this year. I just bought a new house, so money is a little tighter than usual.
But anyway, I am going to see Heart this coming weekend. First time seeing them ever.
-
Going to see Maiden on their final stop of the European tour in London, gonna be a good night :)
-
Got to meet and greet Pain of Salvation in May. Get to do the same with Kamelot in September. Don't know if I'll go to any other shows this year.

14 Sep - Roger Waters
27 Sep- Fleetwood Mac
09 Nov - Marillion
15 Feb - Dream Theater

-
Saw Coheed and Tremonti earlier this year.
System of a Down at the Hollywood Bowl is only three weeks away! I'm so stoked!!! I've been waiting 8 years for this!!!!
-
Fuckin Europeans!!! Actually... fucking North Americans. Why can't we display the kind of support for these acts!?!?!
:raging:
>:( >:( >:(
Kamelot's European Tour 2013 is now fully set with Special Guests "ReVamp" from Holland, featuring Floor Jannseen. In addition we are pleased to announce that Norwegian Metallers "Tellus Requiem" will open the show.
hhhmmm... $31 to see Kamelot in Toronto next month with Delain. Guess I've got a month to get to really know the music.
-
Guess I should update....
Sept 20- Kamelot, Delain
Oct 1- Anathema, Alcest
Oct 7- Katatonia, Cult of Luna, Intronaut, Tesseract
Dec- Fates Warning

Guess Ima gonna have to go see FW in November!
-
Oct 1- Anathema, Alcest
Oct 7- Katatonia, Cult of Luna, Intronaut, Tesseract
ugh, if these two tours were coming anywhere close to Dallas, I would be going.
-
Saw Maiden a few days ago @ the local arena. Anthrax were supporting, they really knew how to heat up the crowd, I'll be surely going to some more of their shows (although I don't really dig their records, but this is maybe of the lack of energy?! I mean, they clearly have more energy on stage than on their albums).
OK, next stop is Frequency Festival in central Austria in mid-August. My gf will dig the indie bands and I'll be showing support to SOAD, Flogging Molly, Franz Ferdinand, Die toten Hosen, Tenacious D,..... :metal but on top is SOAD, clearly!
-

Got back from this festival. Here's a little review of the bands (in the order in which they played):
Secret Lie: A Portuguese band. Many thought it would be generic pop-ish metal, but it ended up kicking ass!
Bizarra Locomotiva: The Portuguese masters of industrial metal. They made the crowd go wild, as expected.
Evergrey: They were simply amazing and had a really good interaction with the audience.
Moonsorrow: Possibly my favorite concert from the whole festival. Tons of viking crowd chants were had :lol
Sonata Arctica: Amazing interaction with the crowd. They had too many power ballads and really recent material in their set-list, and that's my only problem with this concert. Wish they had brought out more classics from the older albums.
Lacuna Coil: Not my type of thing, so I didn't go and watch them. I just went back to my tent and slept for a little while
A fun thing to observe, though, was the gigantic influx of women that arrived at the festival at the time Lacuna Coil was going to start playing.
Web: A Portuguese band with an awesome lead guitarist and great riffs and melodies.
Tarantula: The ones who brought metal music to Portugal. Really big fan of them, and the expectations I had that this was going to be a good show were met. Sucks that they didn't play my favorite song.
Rotting Christ: Also a good contender for favorite concert from the festival. The bass was loud, the ground shook, they played my favorite song. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Iced Earth: Was the first time listening to anything by Iced Earth. I really liked it, and the singer's voice is something out of this world.
Gamma Ray (replaced Saxon because of Biff's nasty fall, in which he injured his coccyx, back, arms and legs (ouch..): Never listened to much stuff from Gamma Ray but it was a great show. Tons of the usual "I play this lick on guitar and you sing it back" type of interaction, and that woke up the crowd even more.
Testament: The one band that everyone was there to see. Unfortunately I had to leave in the middle of their concert, but what I heard was pure old-school thrash metal, and that's what I was there to hear! Chuck Billy complimented us by saying we were a bunch of crazy SOB's
-
^ Wicked cool. Too bad about Saxon/Biff.
Would've loved to see Everygrey
-
Came back from Gigantour not long ago. What an awesome show it was.
Newsted was okay, nothing too special.
Hellyeah had Vinny Paul, which was cool, but not my type of vocals.
Device, I was looking forward to. Draiman kicked ass.
Black Label Society, I actually never really listened to, so it was a pleasant surprise. Zakk Wylde melted our faces off with a 10 minute solo.
Megadeth kicked ass. They played some some of my very favorites that I was not expecting, like She-Wolf and Sweating Bullets, among others. All in all a great show. And an intense 6 hours of pushing and shoving to get into the front row.
-
Saw Mastodon with (US Christmas, and ASG) in Asheville, NC on August 14, 2013. Headed to see Iron Maiden and Megadeth in Raleigh, NC on Sept 3. and then will head back to Asheville a few weeks later to see Queens Of The Stone Age.
Looking hard at somehow checking out BTBAM and TSF tour, and Tesseract later in the year.
-
Came back from Frequency Festival two weeks ago but haven't attended the forum much.
Bands I listened to and dug:
System of a down
Franz Ferdinand
Skunk Anansie
Die toten Hosen
Billy Talent
Bad Religion
Of monsters and men
Empire of the sun
Yeah, SOAD were high on my to see list..... next upscale concerts: Airbourne in Cologne, Black Sabbath in Amsterdam, end of November!
-
Just got back from my first Paradise Lost show :metal The sound was great, although on some songs the backing tracks were really quiet and on others they were pretty loud. The setlist was really nice and the performance was brilliant, although I noticed a few mistakes by Greg Mackintosh on some leads. Nick Holmes is not the most consistent live singer in the world, but his voice sounded really good tonight despite the struggles with a few higher parts on some tunes.
The only downsides are related to non-musical things: I couldn't buy a T-shirt at the end of the show, because all the L-sized shirts were gone. I also had to walk (well, run) home in rain from the nearest bus stop, which wasn't very nice due to the fact that I have a cold.
-
Recently got my ticket for Anathema on October 12.
-
Oct 7- Katatonia, Cult of Luna, Intronaut, Tesseract
So I have to have a minor surgery done to remove a fatty thing from my neck. The only date they had available was, of course, October 7. Fuck.

Don't have much else planned for this year though, but will see Protest the Hero in January. :)

Saw Shinedown, yesterday. My 1st concert ever and yep, it was a great show to watch, even if the setlist is the same that they played throughout this year.
Add the fact that it was free and was at the LA County Fair which was 15 min. from where I live and that was an enjoyable evening.

-
Avenged...tonight :metal
-
I'm afraid I'll be so busy for the rest of the year that the Stratovarius gig I saw earlier this month was both my first and last concert this year. Well, at least it was a good one. :metal
Funny how things can change. :) After saying that I've seen Jon Anderson, Von Hertzen Brothers, Ian Anderson and Kotipelto & Liimatainen. No complains. :metal

12 Mar - Transatlantic
Updated. 2013 was my biggest year for gigs yet - here's hoping 2014 lives up to it - it's certainly getting off to a good start with both DT and TA!
-
Soon someone will have to start a thread for 2014 :D
Back on topic: Dark Tranquillity were phenomenal live! :metal :hefdaddy However, I think I won't go to see Amorphis, because I've seen them 4 times and apart from the new stuff the current setlist doesn't really offer anything I haven't heard live before.
-
10/31 - Infected Mushroom
11/20 - Jolly
12/3 - Alestorm
2/4/14 - Amon Amarth
2/9/14 - Transatlantic

28th Nov: Black Sabbath - Amsterdam, Netherlands
So looking forward to this! :metal
-
it's looking like I'm gonna be seeing Jake E. Lee's new band Red Dragon Cartel on December 12th if I'm not working that day. Pretty excited. Apparently they're gonna be playing old Badlands tunes and shit, so I'm so excited. This is the closest I'm ever gonna get to seeing Badlands, so I can't wait!
-
This year was pretty quiet for gigs:
4 March Steven Wilson @ Royal Festival Hall, London
10 May The Pineapple Thief @ The Garage, Manchester
18 October Steven Wlson @ City Hall, Newcastle
That's it!
Next year so far:
February 5 Blackfield @ Koko, London
February 14 Dream Theater @ Wembley Arena, London
April 4 Riverside @ The Academy, Manchester
Think I'm most excited about Riverside to be honest, I've seen the other two before but never seen Riverside!
-
:yarr Just saw Alestorm, which was an absolute blast!!! I've also seen The Eagles, Aerosmith, and The Winery Dogs this year.
-
Someone gave me a free ticket for Queens of the Stone Age last Thursday, so just for the sake of completeness, them as well.
-

Van Halen/Aerosmith/Buckcherry/Kings of Chaos etc....(festival) and then Aerosmith again as Tyler was freakin awesome
Steel Panther
Bon Jovi :metal ;D
and missed two I really wanted to see due to family illness
Paul Laine
Nightwish w/Floor.........hoping they'll be back after a new album
I think that's it.
Hanging out for DT in Australia in 2014 hopefully.
-
My first three concerts in 2014 will be:
January 26: Alcest
February 14: Sonata Arctica (15th anniversary)
February 24: Dream Theater
-
Finished the gig year a few days ago with Raskasta joulua, which is Christmas songs performed as metal versions and sung by guys like Marco Hietala. A very nice way to start the Christmas time.
So, in the end my concerts for 2013 were these:
-Stratovarius
-Jon Anderson
-Ian Anderson
-Von Hertzen Brothers twice, first a shorter set with only the three brothers, and then a proper gig with the whole band.
-Kotipelto & Liimatainen
-Steven Wilson
-Raskasta Joulua
Already looking forward to 2014 and seeing Dream Theater, Steve Hackett and Peter Gabriel. :tup
-
Started off great, but took a slide towards the end. My final tally is.....
The Who
Peter Gabriel
Kamelot/Delain
Steven Wilson (twice)
Anathema/Alcest
And I gotta say Anathema edged out Steven Wilson for show of the year, and propelled themselves into my top five all time shows probably. Such an unbelievable show that was.
As for next year, I already got Transatlantic, Between the Buried and Me/Intronaut, and of course Dream Theater on the dockets. Looking good if you ask me ;)
-
Updated for 2014 -
23 Jan - Jefferson Starship
14 Feb - Dream Theater
15 Feb - Dream Theater

08 July - Pearl Jam
-
2014-
Feb 1- Transatlantic
April 17- Dream Theater
March 11- Between the Buried and Me/ deafhaven/ Intronaut/ Kindred
And waiting on a date tba for Protest the Hero/ Intervals North American tour. If they don't play here, I'm gonna fucking crawl under the covers and have a solid fucking cry.
-
Well, for 2014 I've got:
Feb 18-22 - ProgNation at Sea
March 20 - DT
Seriously considering Iced Earth/ReVamp/Sabaton in April, just on the hopes of meeting Floor Jansen. Not much of an IE fan, and ReVamp has one good album, and one stinky one.
-
Sabaton is awesome though, and from what I've seen, their live show is fantastic.
-
I was gonna pass on the Iced Earth show cause of work conflict(it's on a Saturday and I'm overloaded on day off request), but to see Floor up close and personal, well that kinda changes everything.
