Simple, first concert, first song.
Mine, The Tubes- Talk To Ya Later (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eHue2jSw3s)
-
Semi-sonic: closing time
-
Motley Crue-Shout at the Devil
-
That's a tough one. First concert was Kick Axe, Whitesnake, Quiet Riot September 29, 1984. Kick Axe opened, and I didn't know them at the time, so I can't be sure about the first song. For some reason, I seem to recall it possibly being Heavy Metal Shuffle. But I found a King Biscuit Flower Hour recording of a show a few months before that where they opened with Alive And Kickin'. So, yeah, not sure about the first song.
-
With You-Linkin Park...
Loved them as an eleven year old...
-
Foo Fighters - All My Life, in 2002. Pretty good start.
-
1st concert:
Def Leppard
Krokus
Gary Moore
June 25, 1983
Cape Cod Coliseum
I honestly do not remember the order of Gary Moore's set. I think he opened with Rockin' Every Night.
His band was :
Neil Murray
Neil Carter
Ian Paice
:metal :metal

First concert UFO at Lancaster University, first song I think was Long Gone. Great gig, changed my life.

Awesome!! :metal

My first concert was Pop Sux with Trust Company, Disturbed and Korn, so whatever song TC opened with.
-
My first concert was EAV, an Austrian band nobody on here probably knows. They are more about their lyrics than about their music, but it was a cool experience nevertheless. They put on a great show, with lots of comedy in between songs (their singer is a comedian and TV moderator).
So, here's the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGOTpLldkwA&ob=av2e
(and by the way, that concert and Pain Of Salvation opening for Opeth were the only time when the volume of the music was perfect. I've grown very fond of my earplugs since I could hardly make out which song was playing at my second gig).
-
Photograph- Ringo Starr and His All Star Band back on August 21st 2001 at the Minnesota State Fair. I was 7 at the time.
That was an amazing concert when I look back and a good memory with my family. I had no idea that I was in the presence of the former Beatle and Greg Lake and Roger Hodgson
-
A Dragonforce song. They're all the same so it doesn't really matter which.
-
Pink Floyd - Astronomy Domine (May 10, 1994 - Raleigh, NC) There was no opening band so... yeah (mind f'n BLOWN)
-
The first concert I saw was Iron Maiden back in '06 on the AMOLAD-tour. So "Different World".
-
Metallica, Summer '94- (muthafuckin) Breadfan (muthafucka)
-
Excluding the support acts (Beck and Deerhoof), it would be 'Airbag' by Radiohead at Meadowbank Stadium in Edinburgh (August 2006)
-
Metallica, Summer '94- (muthafuckin) Breadfan (muthafucka)
They opened a show with Breadfan? ??? Okay...
-
If going by actually played live, it'd be Smashing Pumpkins' Tonight Tonight. If going by the first song I heard at my first concert, it'd be the tape play-in of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the instrumental piano-only title track that starts the album they were touring for.
It was February 5, 1997 and Fountains of Wayne were opening a full 6 years before they'd get their 15 minutes from their single Stacy's Mom.

They opened a show with Breadfan? ??? Okay...
At the 1997 Fort Worth show that was taped for their VHS, Cunning Stunts, they opened with So What.

That they did. 'Twas awesome. Actually after Ecstasy of Gold ended a voice came on the pa and said that due to unforseen cirumstances Metallica has cancelled their show and would not be playing tonight, then Jame's voice came on and said "fuck you, Breadfan!" and they launched into it. It was my 14th birthday. On a related note, I just threw away the shirt I got at that show yesterday because we were spring cleaning and it was starting to disintegrate. I was :sadpanda:

Kiss 1979. Dynasty Tour -- King of the Night Time World

This is my answer as well, only at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va. :lol

My first concert was Judas Priest with Tim in 2001. I think they opened with Metal Gods. The rest is history. :hefdaddy
-
A Dragonforce song. They're all the same so it doesn't really matter which.
Actually come to think of it they were the headliner not the opening band. In that case I have no idea other than the band had a giant vagina on stage.

Coheed and Cambria - Always and Never

Coheed and Cambria - Always and Never
FUUUUUUUUUUUUU I'm jelly.
Was it one of the GA1 Neverender gigs?
-
Yep! I was near the stage, and everyone around me was singing it in unison. That moment was goddamned magical.
-
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU I'm jelly.

I thought it was 1985 ish ... Amnesty International tour with Gabriel/Springsteen headlining, but that tour was in 88 now that I look it up. I know I saw Poison/DLR in 87. Not sure what Poison would've opened wih. Likely Look What the Cat Dragged In.

Hmm... I saw them at Day On The Green (what was once a HUGE annual SF Bay Area festival) in '87 with Jetboy, Whitesnake, and Motley Crue, but don't remember the set (other than the fact that they played Cry Tough, I Won't Forget You, Talk Dirty To Me, and I Want Action). I want to say they opened with Cry Tough, but I can't remember for sure. Here's an alleged set from that timeframe from LastFM: https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/poison/1987/buffalo-memorial-auditorium-buffalo-ny-6bd45ee2.html

Oh MAN, that is epic... I would've loved to see the Pumpkins way back then!
My first one was "The Glass Prison" from DT in 2003! They were playing with Queensryche and Fates Warning... what a great first concert.
-
It was dude! I still have my Billy Corgan long-sleeved black shirt with ZERO written in silver letters on the front. I'd gladly trade memories with you in an instant though since I fucking love TGP.
-
First real concert in a big venue was Rush two years ago. They opened with Spirit of Radio. :metal
-
A-ha was my first concert. No idea what they opened with though.
rumborak

Nobody else knows either.
-
Coheed and Cambria - Always and Never
FUUUUUUUUUUUUU I'm jelly.

Oh wait I'm sorry. I misunderstood. It was on the tour they did last year where they played Second Stage in its entirety. I got confused because that tour also had the "Neverender" moniker attached to it.

God I had to look this up....now I do feel old....It was INXS at the Tennis Centre in Melbourne on Nov 2, 1988 and they opened with Kick
I wish I could say it was David Lee Roth with Steve Vai the same year at the same venue... :'(
-
queensryche - nightrider 2-22-85
they were touring with Kiss, but we went for QR. I will admit, though, I remember nothing from the night due to our mental state

Styx: The Grand Illusion, 1977. They opened with the title song.
-
Fastway--Easy Livin
Motley Crue-Shout at the Devil
That opened the second show I ever went to, but when I saw them they were all evil and badass and not a bunch of pussies.

My first concert was KISS. I believe they opened with King of the Night Time World, which was just a huge kick in the balls of an otherwise kickass setlist. Just to add further insult, the show just before ours got Creatures of the fucking Night as the opener instead. Bastards. :lol
-
Number of the Beast-Iron Maiden. On the Give Me Ed Til I'm Dead Tour. :metal
-
Can't remember my very first concert, let alone the first song they played.
-
First concert: Joe Satriani with Eric Johnson.
First Song: Cliffs of Dover.
Amazing concert with even more amazing and near perfect playing by the godly gods; it was very enjoyable, I didn't expect either of them to have so much stage presence. The light show was pretty spectacular as well.
-
First concert was Danger Danger - Slaughter - Kiss. July 11, 1990, Roanoke Civic Center. Since DD opened, it was most likely "Boys Will Be Boys".

Nice bill!! I saw Slaughter in 90 with The Bullet Boys and Poison.

Oh right on, I'm a little less jelly then :lol
So I guess they opened the acoustic set with Always & Never then? That's still awesome.

Yeah I saw Slaughter with Winger and Kiss in the Hot In The Shade tour.
-
Blackened by Metallica.
-
The real answer is Cigarette by The Clarks, but since only fellow Yinzers would know that, I'll say it was Metallica covering "So What".
-

Yeah I saw Slaughter with Winger and Kiss in the Hot In The Shade tour.
King, at Great Woods, it was a band called Little Ceaser that opened for Kiss/Slaughter. We didn't even go in until Slaughter finished!
-
1994, Pink Floyd opened with Astronomy Domine.
-
I had been in some concerts earlier (I don't remember the set openers), but the first big concert was Alice Cooper. He opened with Brutal Planet.

I saw this show in Maine at some baseball field. it was cool. Mark Slaughter run through the first section on the floor, (the baseball outfield) and slaped my hand running by. The dude was smaller than Dio but also had the pipes.
-
I've no idea.
-
1977: Foreigner - "Feels Like The First Time"
I was 13 years old.
-
My first concert was Pop Sux with Trust Company, Disturbed and Korn, so whatever song TC opened with.
That wasn't my first concert but I went to that tour when they stopped by in Tampa. My god Trust Company was terrible, that's my biggest memory.
Disturbed shined that show.
-
Hmm... I think Different World - Iron Maiden.
EDIT: Well, technically, it would be the first song by the band that opened for Maiden that show. That would be Bullet for My Valentine. But... gross. Let's stick with Maiden.

I was at the same show :metal. I went for Disturbed, who I agree were the best them.
-
First concert: Metallica 1992 but it got rained out and they didn't play. Big riot afterwards.
1996: REO Speedwagon. My GF at the time made me go lol!
-
Discounting songs played by my friend's band, my guess would be Pseudo Silk Kimono by Marillion on March 31, 1986, which oddly enough is the first song on my favorite album all-time.

Foundling- David Gray
