Yeah it's kinda high, but I didn't start to REALLY listen to more female vocalists until lately, so I feel like I am excused.
-
Well that didn't take to long figure out it misjudged. 0% women vocalists even though I often listen to Dark Castle, Kylesa, Lady Gaga, Pomplamoose, and La Roux on there lol.

Simone Simons from Epica.... seen her live.... a goddess....
-

That's Simone Simons isn't it? I only know because of a poster on the old dt forum who was obsessed with her. :lol

Epica is good band... if only they had good songs....
Simone deserves to be obsessed with tho.... she's a beauty with a lovely voice....

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Annie Haslam (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnN6Cmd1gbw) yet from Renaissance. Without a doubt my favorite female vocalist of all time. Such a beautiful sounding voice.
Other bands with female vocalists that I enjoy:
Phideaux
District 97
Epica
Magenta
Izz
The Last Void
Par Lindh Project
To-Mera
Estrum
Elfonia
Stream Of Passion
Earth and Fire
Edenbridge
Harmonium
Illusion

To each their own I guess. Never been a fan of the death metal vocals (in any band for that matter), but beyond that they're a great band. Epica's last 2 albums are superb.

Great choice. Can't believe I forgot her!
Phideaux
Harmonium
Thought I'd never see another fan of these two on the forum. :tup

I just started to get into Harmonium more over the last year or so. Le Corridor from their L'Heptade album is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. That instrumental section is awe inspiring.

Sharon Den Adel- beautiful voice, beautiful woman. :heart :heart :heart :heart :heart
Ann Wilson
Sandi Saraya- Saraya made two great albums, When The Blackbird Sings being the better of the two.
Robin Beck- Trouble Or Nothin' is a great 80s pop rock album.
Joanna Dean and Sass Jordan
Pink- her bluesy duet with Steven Tyler on Misery is very good.
Pat Benatar in the 70s early 80s
Pamela Moore for Sister Mary
and Susannah Hoffs' voice used to do strange things to me in my teens. :blush
Marcie Free (Unruly Child- was Mark Free)
Anyone remember Stevie Lange, best known for a female deodorant ad ("Limarra") based on her only hit Remember? Powerful voice.

Adele. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAc83CF8Ejk&ob=av3n

I honestly don't listen to that many female artists, but I am of course a fan of Paramore and Hayley Williams.

Sarah Mclachlan
Pamela Moore (on "Operation Mindcrime")
Alison Sudol ("A Fine Frenzy")
old Joni Mitchell
Sarah Brightman
Just to name a few off the top of my head.
-
One name Floor Jansen. I recently discovered After Forever and ReVamp now I've become obsessed. Sucks that AF disbanded hopefully ReVamp will tour in the U.S.
Simone Simons is beautiful visually and auditorily but there's just something about Epica that doesn't click for me. Its hit and miss.
-
Floor rocks... I totally agree with AF- Revamp comment!

A couple more I thought of...
Happy Rhodes
Kate Bush
Sara Bareilles
Alanis Morissette
Clannad
LeAnn Rimes
Mary Fahl/October Project (probably one of the most unique-sounding bands of the 90s)
Paula Cole
-
Sharon Den Adel (Within temptation)
Simone Simon (Epica)
Rachael Yamagata

Despite the stats, I do enjoy female vocals quite a bit.
-
Add Sol Seppy to the list.
-
I saw Pat Benatar live this year and she blew my fucking mind. Just awesome.
-
Let's appreciate the female singers out there who can also growl/scream (and sounds damn sexy doing so) : Leïlindel, Alissa White-Gluz, Julie Christmas, Dominique Persi, etc. :metal
-
Ok--there's a SRS lack of Shirley Manson (Garbage) ITT. :tdwn
(https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v317/bizarredevotedfan/Randomness/GarbageSinger4444.jpg)
:D

Females should not growl or scream. Ever. Unless it's Sigourney Weaver.
-
Lynxo's band-mate-chick also deserves to be mentioned here.
-

Have you heard any of the female singers I've listed?

Nope, never heard a single female on planet earth growl. I'm nearly just stating blind opinions like I always do.

It's not like every female growls sounds the same. No need to be a dick about it. ;)

Grace Slick
(https://fc06.deviantart.net/fs28/f/2008/076/a/f/grace_slick_by_driia.jpg)
Yes sir, I came in here to say that :tup
https://youtu.be/WANNqr-vcx0
Grace now, speaking for the cause https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKGvPSRaOP4
She's simply the best, one of the last original hippies.
Stolen Babies and Guano Apes are my favorite current ones.
-
I love this slightly different rendition of the vocal melody she sang at Woodstock 69 https://youtu.be/2zf_AMkxYl8
Talk about an iconic video that represents the era, both the band and the audience are so clearly insanely baked :lol
-
This thread needs more Alicia Keys.
-
I still can't believe I didn't discover the Pipo & Elo covers until this month. :tup for Elo's voice.
