Had a few ideas about customising my Epiphone Silverburst Les Paul.
Here it is BEFORE :

nice -- the white pickup things are awesome and I always prefer no pick guard.
-
No pick guard and no selector switch surround.
I was going for a Les Paul Supreme kind of look :)

Looks good if that's what you like. I have an Epiphone Les Paul:

Is yours very noisy? I had to have the electronics ripped out and replaced in mine, it was basically useless in the studio without the noise gate up so high I had to hit the damned thing with a hammer to get past the threshold. I had my tech gut it, insulate the cavity and install all new components, now it sounds killer and it's quiet as a mouse.

Mine is not noisy at all. It's a Custom model - and was £500 - so not a cheap one by any means. :)

i'm thinking of getting a "rhythm/treble" selector thing for my Rhoads. it already has the black speed knobs because regular domes are fucking shit imo. and it just looks good too to try out something new. my Rhoads feels boring after the years i've had it. no longer a heavy metal freak, so i don't mind some class and freshening things to help my guitars look more appealing.
also what i want to do with my affinity bass is get a 3 ply pickguard and J bass knobs because, again, standard dome knobs are horrible/unattractive. i need an indicator sometimes of where my volume and tone is at too. (definitely trying out flats too this time).

Well, yeah, but "cheap" is a relative term. My Les Paul was, by those standards, also not "cheap" (it was $799.00)
But it was too noisy to use on any professional quality recordings and I couldn't really return a gift from my wife, so instead I dumped another $500 into it and now it's a nice axe.
It can't touch my Fat Strat or my PRS, but it's still pretty nice :)

Mine is really not noisy at all. I've played it through my Blackstar and other big amps and it's fine. :)
I'll replace the pickups eventually.
Maybe with Gibson LP Custom Pickups. :)

The Gibson LP's are nice. How many watts is that Blackstar?
-
It's the 100 watt HT Series :)

I'm thinking of putting in Gibson 498T and 490R pickups in my Epiphone.
Anyone got any experience in putting Gibson pickups in an Epiphone ?
WIll it make *enough* of a difference in the sound to be worth it ? :)
