Just saw the ad in this weeks New Times.

Wonder if these December gigs will be Evening With?
Where is a dancing smiley when you need one?!
Glad you got your show.
I just heard the commercial on the radio for this. I'm broke and my car needs repairs.... !@%#$%@@^$&%*#!!!
Hell yes. I really hope this will be An Evening With... show as well. Also glad it's happening at a time where I'll actually be in town. Anyone down for a DTF pre-show meeting?

So far no opening act, show starts at 7:30.
Just bought my seats! Row Q.
Should we plan a get together at a bar/restaurant somewhere near by?
Keep refreshing, good seats are popping up.
Row J for me.
And incidentally, according to Trivium's website, they're going to be in London on December 4th, so if there's going to be an opening band, it won't be Trivium.

I'm trying to get confirmation from the venue, but it's looking more like this will be just Dream Theater. Now that doesn't mean it will be the 'Evening With' format (2 sets + encore). It could mean an extended set though, or at least encore with 'The Count of Tuscany' since it has never been played here.
Seeing Dream Theater with just them would fine with me. Still waiting to buy seats, as I have no idea if my friends want to go or not.
And to answer your question chknptpie, I'd say a decent restaurant will work just fine. I don't think a bar would work, seeing as I'm not yet 21. But, we have just under two months to find a suitable enough place to gather beforehand, and just hangout or whatever.
EDIT: Just purchased tickets for row L numbers 22, 23 and 24.

You might be able to get an extended set from the current tour. Upwards of 2.5 or 2.75 hour sets without an opening band. Currently they are playing sets that are almost exactly 2 hours.
We better get an extended set, they didn't even come here on the last headline tour. And an ex member promised us they would! >:(
PIT tickets available right now!!!
Mesa Arts Center - Mesa, not Phoenix ... sorry for sounding picky!
Is this the first time DT played in Mesa? That place is literally 2 minutes away from my job.
I was so excited when I heard they added my hometown to the list. Immediately bought two M&G packages and I'm ready to rock : )
I've never seen a show at the Arts Center, but its 4 miles from my house. So glad I don't have to drive far for this one! Usually its quite a drive to any other concert venue. (Aside from Mesa Amp, which I'm surprised this concert isn't at.)

This is not the first DT show in Mesa, in September 2004 they opened for Yes at the Mesa Amphitheater. It was a great set and included a killer performance of 'Stream of Consciousness'.
However, this is the first headlining set... but Mesa is the Phoenix metro area. This show also covers Tucson people as well, although I am sure they would be happier with a gig at the Rialto rather than driving all the way up north.
Show is selling well, the main Orchestra section is pretty much sold out and the back section is starting to thin out. Upper Balcony still has plenty of seats, but as the date approaches they will sell.
If Danny advertises this show down in Tucson & Flagstaff it will sell out imo. Plus there is no Vegas date as of yet, if one is not announced this show will pull from that market.
Tickets in hand, Row J seats 21 and 22. Now it's just a waiting game. :caffeine:

My ticket says steat 405 and 406... that seems weird

6/?/2010 Phoenix, AZ (Cricket Pavilion) (opening for Iron Maiden)
12/4/2011 Mesa, AZ (Ikeda Theater) (forthcoming)
*shows I have attended.
So they have played Tucson only twice. In 92/93 they were here 3 times in one year! Wow! In reality, DT has only skipped us on the Prog Nation tours in 2008 and 2009. And they played here for Systematic Chaos in 2007 and technically BC/SL in 2010 opening for Maiden. IMO, the only thing we have really missed out on is a performance of 'The Count of Tuscany'. I would love to see them encore with that one on 12/4, I mean we've seen 'Pull Me Under', and "Under a Glass Moon' plenty of times here.

That was an awesome night. I sure hope I can go to this show.
Unless a wad of 20s falls in my lap, this show is a no go...
According to the New Times ad, this show is listed as 'An Evening With' performance. Venue also verified no opening act.
Now, I highly doubt this means the traditional 2 set + encore. But perhaps we'll get an extra song or two. Here's hoping for 'The Count of Tuscany', which has never been played live in Phoenix!
D:
There was a time change right after I bought the tickets. It was originally t 730, then moved to 8. Thats when I figured there wouldn't be an opening band.
Well, if there is a slim chance I can go to this show, I'll be sitting in the nose bleeds like I did for Tool.
So, my company is HQ'd in Phoenix, and luckily I've been able to schedule some meetings/training there that week. So, I'm gonna come in on Sunday, and be at the show. Just booked my flights. I'm up for a meetup.
Tickets... will wait patiently, or scalp.
Think me and one of my friends might take a road trip from new mexico. Anyone know any details as to how long they might play for?
So how many might this be for a meet up? Add to the list!
Chkn - 2
Jaffa - 2 ?
Tripp - 2 ?
Mangos Mexican Cafe is in walking distance and could be a decent place for a meet up. Just need to know how large our group might be.
Edit - jingle.boy - are they sold out? You might still be able to find tickets.
Ben_Jamin - no idea how long they might play, I haven't been to An Evening With show.

No, not sold out, but not much available either. I'll wait, and see what I can get either a couple of days before (maybe they'll open some up), or day of.
Is it officially an "Evening With" show? If so, those are usually 3 hours start to finish, with a 20 minute intermission in there (ie, it's not 3 hours of straight music).
Count me in for the meetup ... I'll be coming stag though.

Check ebay for good tickets, thought I saw some selling for close to face value on the bid.
We also now have an opening act, some acoustic guitar player. Hopefully he'll only play for 30 minutes and be done, lol. I think this was DT's way of avoiding having to play a real 2 set 'evening with' show, lol.

Good, good, more confirmed people. A meet-up place still has to be decided, then it actually has to be a place which we can all agree upon.
Taking my chances... still holding out that they might open some more up. Front row of the balcony is free though.
Places that I see on google maps that we could eat at:
De La Cruz Bistro
Mango's Mexican Cafe
Queen's Pizzeria and Cafe
These are all within walking distance of the venue.
I vote between Mexican and Pizza.
And I'm more of a pizza guy, so yeah.
I'm a big fan of pizza....

Sweet, if I can park there, then it saves a shitton of trouble of parking at the venue.
I say we go to the Pizzeria.
I'm cool with that.
Anyone know details on the meet and greet package times
Alright, since it sounds like the Pizzeria is the number one choice for a meetup, we need to decided upon a time.
The show is at 8:00, but the doors open at 7:00.
I say we meet at the restaurant around 4:30 or so, which gives us a nice amount of time to relax, eat and talk and such. And since it's well under a mile walk, we can finish up at 7:00, and still be there at an extremely reasonable time.
430 is a bit early for me. My bf and I don't get off work until 4. We probably wouldn't be there until 5 or 530.
5pm works for me.
Aaaand I just realized that its a Sunday and my bf and I don't work haha
Note to self: do not post when you have only been up for 20 minutes.
Alright, I say 5. Seems like a good enough time.
That's perfect. The KrotchRaut Meet and Greet is at 6:30.
Is your brother going to be attending?

Looked like a few seats in the lower section and a bunch in the last few rows of the balcony were left as of yesterday. I'd say it's probably 75-80% sold out.

ALRIGHTY! I called and gave them a heads up about us coming tomorrow at 5pm. They don't do reservations but say they will have lots of slices ready for us. I told her that we will all just do separate slices, that way we can all pay for our own food and not have to worry about cash. That just seems the easiest to me - I hate having to split bills up in large groups!
I also said that if anyone calls for information or directions, that our party is under the name "Chicken". (480) 964-1609 if anyone wants to call them for directs or any other info.
I'm excited to see everyone and we will have to take some epic pics for the board to see muahahaha

Hi All, I seriously played my two best shows/solos while being the sickest I've been in 20-30 years. But not enough to jeopardize me too much or affect the show negatively. I don't know how that happens. My apologies for not being able to speak much, or for coughing at the paid pre show pic taking. Now you know why. I didn't and couldn't call friends, my family, my wife, nobody...it was weird to try so hard to speak. All of you that play must've experienced this before. How can we be so sick, then play like not too much is wrong? I must be a love of overcoming challenges and helping the team. I guess that's how athletes do it. I honestly curled up in a ball after the show and didn't think I'd make it out of there. I'm happy to say that I'm feeling better and better and that I'm about to sleep on and off for 14 hours pumping the herbs and meds and water. I think I will have the best show of my whole life in Mesa tomorrow because of all the practicing I did on the break. I love this !!!! Can't wait till tmw !! DID I MENTION HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO BE 1 FOR 1 WITH DREAM THEATER FOR A GRAMMY NOMINATION !!!! 2 for 2 with VAI, 1 FOR 1 WITH DT... OH YEAH !!!!!!! THAT'LL FIX MY FLU !!!!
That bit in bold just got me even MORE excited.
Mangini seems to be ready to rip at this show, since he just announced he was sick the last two, not that he played any less amazing under the weather.
Awwwwwesome
I got here early since I drove from Sierra Vista. And I have to leave early. So if anyone wants to hang out earlier. If not, I brought a book.
I'm here with 02T and my boyfriend. Look for short red head. Although this place is pretty empty.
Andy McKee. Unreal
He was very cool. Did make me a bit sleepy :P

Yeah AMAZING show. Will post pics later. I asked JP if he was still benching 325, but he sheepishly said he wasn't. Shook hands with the Ninja, the Wizard, and the God. Even got a fist pump from JP during BAI. I was so close, i had to lean back to get their bow!
Best concert evar!!
Yeah the show was amazing... Except for the row in front of me which just so happened to have a bunch of tall guys blocking and/obscuring me view. I swear, I could attend a concert at the Shire and Gandalf would stand in front of me.
Still too pumped to go to sleep (and, had to wait for my luggage to be delivered... side note, it finally got here).
Anyway.... pics. Unfortunately, just from the crappy camera on my iPhone 3GS

Seriously. The man is literally the most infectiously happy human being I have ever seen. Every time he smiled, I couldn't help but smile too.
And he's always smiling. Also, funny story. Smallfonting it because most people won't care about this. :P
There was a point during the concert where James Labrie stuck his hand up in the air and held up one finger. I know, I know; he did that like a billion times. But at one time in particular, I had been holding up my closed fist already, and when he held up his one finger, I held up mine to match him. And at the moment I swore me pointed at me.
Now, at the time I was thinking, y'know, 'Don't be an idiot, Jaffa. He points into the audience like that in every direction intentionally, so that everyone thinks they're getting his personal attention.' I knew it was my imagination, that he was just pointing in my general area.
Then, after the show, my brother said, "Dude, the singer pointed right at you." And the guy sitting on the other side of me said he thought so too. Neither of them thought he was pointing at them. On both sides of me they thought he'd pointed directly at me. So, even though I feel like it's kind of ridiculous to think this, I kinda think JLB saw me lift up one finger in direct response to him and pointed at me in recognition. And call me a fanboy, but dammit, I felt fucking cool. =D
The show was amazing, one of the best performances I've ever seen. Thankfully I got lucky, and didn't really have anyone/anything obstructing my view.
The meetup beforehand was cool as well, seeing everyone was pretty awesome.
Also, manly tears were shed during Beneath The Surface.
Jaffa--- fanboy! But seriously it is a cool feeling to have JLB finger of acknowledgement. Got one in Texas meself.
Sorry I had to bail early. It was nice meeting chknptpie and her intended.
Phenomenal show. Great venue. One of the best setlists ever.
Got my ADToE and SFAM vinyls signed, as well as my Suspended Animation and Jelly Jam Shall We Descend? cds.
Both James and JP commented on the SFAM one. Made me wonder if it was the first time they had seen it.
Jingle.boy - glad your luggage did truly arrive! And I'm pretty sure we saw you get a huge fist bump. Funny stuff.
My fiance said he thought it was going to be weird without MP, thought that he would notice too much. After the show he said he didn't miss him. Mangini is incredibly fun to watch, just wish there were shots of his feet too!

Yeah, that was me and the guy beside me... right after the intro of BAI. It turned me into such a fanboy!
I posted the picture in the dtf.org group on facebook. I was going to tag everyone, but then realized I can't ha. So if you're in the fb group and want to, feel free to tag yourself!

you really can't appreciate what Mangini brings to the band until you see him play live. :o
Seriously. The man is literally the most infectiously happy human being I have ever seen. Every time he smiled, I couldn't help but smile too. And he's always smiling.
Also, funny story. Smallfonting it because most people won't care about this. :P

The same thing happened to me at the Anaheim show 2 days earlier. I was giddy, to say the least. :rollin
I also got the John Petrucci nod of approval during "Breaking All Illusions."
Oh and I was wearing my Genesis "A Trick of the Tail" shirt and I THINK Jordan Rudess also gave me a nod of approval. ;D
Pictures from the meet and greet are up. I'm such a fanboy.
So since I am new, I went looking for this thread. One of my fraternity brothers has a step dad who is the production manager for DT. His name is TJ. I got to go back stage before the show and watch sound check, then we got free tix, then I got to meet JP and JR. They both signed my pick guard as well! I got to say a few words to Mangini but apparently he was really sick or something. I have a picture or two on my facebook but I have no idea how to share it on here. I am a forum noob. It was a cool night, and JR was maybe the nicest person I have ever met. JP seemed rushed and didn't want to be there, probably because he said he had to go and I ran up to get an autograph and a pic before he left haha.
