Title: Meet & Greet
Post by: jmbeat on August 02, 2011, 09:31:25 PM
Doing my first one this year, I just have one question.  Do you get all of that extra stuff at the show or do they mail it to you.  I was thinking, what am I going to do with all that stuff when I go to my seat?
Title: Re: Meet & Greets
Post by: pietro123 on August 02, 2011, 10:50:28 PM
You get all the stuff there before the show. It does make things tough holding on to all of it during the show (not to mention potentially damaging some of the materials). Just hope you'll get out of there alright. I'm doing my first meet and greet this year as well, and I think my venue has seats, so that should make thing a bit easier not having people right behind me during the show.

Hey All

My wife surprised me with Meet and Greet for the Orlando show.  Its my first one so I have a couple of questions.

I see from an above response that they give you all the stuff before the show, can you carry it in something or can I carry a bag in?

How about general admission shows, do they rope an area off for you or is it just a free for all.

Can I bring something for the band to sign?

thanks in advance

Casey

The general admission shows..Meet and Greets are usually let into the theater/arena approx 1 hour before the show to stake out your spot

I would imagine you could bring something for the band to sign as long as its within the venues policies, same with a bag or something to carry the goodies in

Title: Question about VIP tickets
Post by: JustinVK on August 10, 2011, 03:45:24 PM
I waited too long to buy my ticket to get a decent seat at Ruth Eckard Hall on the 22cnd of October, So now i am stuck trying to find a way to get closer then the back of the venue.
I found this website that is selling VIP tickets for $150 and it says that it gets you a spot in the first 10 rows. Is this an upgrade package for a ticket you have already purchased? Is it Reliable? And The website of the venue shows that the first 10 rows of the venue are sold out, but it is still available to buy tickets for those spots through the vip package on this website, so i don't know what to do. Thanks for the help - here is the website

It is a reliable site. I have used them before for many different bands. It is not an upgrade your seat, they will assign you a seat based on your order in line. IE the earlier you you order the better the seat(but no seat sucks). My past experience, they had backstage tours with pretty good food and access to the merch booth before anyone else. Each time they were very well organized.

Hi, quick question.
I got 2 meet and greet for Salt lake city show (assigned seats, no GA session.) So far we weren't assigned any seats. I'm wondering if we need to come early on the day of the event to get better seats?

Thanks!

When I've done it in the past, twice, you didn't know your seats till you went to willcall before the show.  Once the meet and greet was prior too the show, once it was after.  Not sure which it is this time.
Title: Re: Meet and greet seating?

The only meet and greet I did was before the show, but I recall getting my seat assignment when I placed my ticket order.  Are you supposed to get your tix beforehand, or are you supposed to pick them up at will call?

Thanks guys. I called livenation and they said they will contact us 1 week before the show. So this means I will get the tickets before the show I guess. I will go early to get better seats.

*Exact seat location available at show.

thats what it says for my Boston meet and greet, so i think the tickets are at willcall, and you find out then

What's the drill this time around? DT's facebook page share www.ILoveAccess.com and I looked over the offers.
I really wanna meet the band. But my wife is coming with me at the Austin show and our seats are together so I'm thinking of getting the M&G package for the Dallas show the day after. The question is: how do I grantee I can find a seat next to the one they're going to give me from the package for my wife.. I don't wanna tell her to leave the car with me and take a greyhound home after the Austin show cause my face is allergic to the backside of frying pans. Also I do want her there with me.
Please advice.
P.S: Anyone got packages from that website yet?

Yeah, I'm confused too about this, if I pay 250 dollars for package I would want to have ticket also for that kind of money.
Title: Re: ADTOE Tour Meet & Greet (Packages & Details)

I guess this time around the ticket is indeed included. As they clearly say

Each Dream Theater Meet & Greet Package includes:

One general admission ticket with early entry*

As 250dollars are 183euros, and the ticket for itself here in Italy costs 50Eur, to meet the band you have to pay only (!!!) around 130Eur

If you check, the shows that have sold out of regular meet and greets have added ticketless "Upgrade packs" for 200 dollars (50 dollars less).

I actually hope Pittsburgh sells out of the regular meet and greets and that maybe I could get an upgrade pack!

So does that mean you get to meet the band and then go home cause you don't have a ticket?   :lol

Maybe it's supposed to be as simple as they don't have any more seats in the first 5 rows, meaning that folks sitting in the back of the concert hall can meet the band too?   :loser:

pinchy - there are a lot of people (50-100 at the Boston show two years ago) who go to these things.  There isn't time for everyone to get exactly what they want.  You may have paid your money, but so did everyone else.  They have these things down to a science.

^That.  And if things get behind, or if they think you are taking too long, the tour manager or someone else may tell you to hurry it up and move along.  If so, don't ignore them, because it is their job to make sure everyone gets their turn.  But by the same token, if you are right in the middle of asking something or getting something signed, and you have been moving quickly, don't be afraid to take a few seconds to finish up.

Yeah, you have to find a balance between holding the other folks up and getting your time in.  I loved my first M&G back on the ToT tour.  There were only 25 or so of us, they put us in a room after the show with the band.  No table or anything, we were able to chat at length with the guys. Did it again for the SC tour and did the table thing... huge difference!!!!!  I understand with more peeps it needs to be structured like it is now.  My plan is to have my questions/comments ready, and give my girl hers...LOL, that way I get a lil more time per se.  She really is smitten with JR...so I'm sure she'll want to do her thing while talking to him, everyone else though... she could care less. :lol  So I'll give her some homework :P
Title: What would YOU do at a Meet and Greet????
Post by: CrimsonSunrise on September 21, 2011, 04:48:57 PM
I asked this question in another thread, but it got buried.  This will be my 3rd M&G and  I need some input on Questions/Comments, and what to have signed.  Both me and my gal are going so we'll be able to get 2 things signed.  My first M&G I had my ACOS CD cover signed, last one I had my photo with the band signed.  This time I can't really do that with MP in there  :lol

So!!  Please !!  Any thoughts or suggestions are most welcome!!  I was a drummer as a kid, so I was thinking maybe a drum head.  Anyone know what MM plays?

Thanks in advance :)

1.  What would you have signed

2. What would you ask each member?
Title: Re: ADTOE Tour Meet & Greet (Packages & Details)
Post by: bosk1 on September 21, 2011, 05:01:32 PM
Yeah, I've been to some where you could mill around and talk.  One was with Queenryche up in Portland, and it was kind of cool, but felt really artificial as well.  And the downside to that format was that if you aren't aggressive enough, other people cut in on you and start talking, but if you are too aggressive, the band members try to get away.

Similar to that, I've been to quite a few Y&T shows at clubs where the band (especially Dave Meniketti and John Nymann) will just come out and mill around with the fans in the club or in the lobby after shows, which is cool.  It feels a lot less formal, so everyone just kind of loosens up and has a good time with it.

i totally agree guys. didn't meen to come off as rude. but this is my life goal right here, i would even trade getting something signed , just to have a quick picture with petrucci...

not saying that the other members are'nt important to me, but petruccis guitar parts (and some of rudesses) have a significant part in my life and saved me from suicide.

again, sorry if i came off as ingreatfull guys , i never meant for that.

I can throw out some ideas from my own personal experience:

I'm thinking of having my 25th Anniversary poster signed, but I'm not sure when I'll ever see Portnoy to have him sign it.  I'm also not 100% sure I want to lug a poster cylinder around at the show.  But it would be amazing to have a poster that cool signed and framed.

Not sure if you were around when we did the "TransImperial Forums" at April fools, but I had a TransImperial shirt custom made, wore it to the Transatlantic show in 2010 and had the guys all sign it.  I've got it in a shadow box in my office with some other tour memorabilia.

I don't think you did.  And I also don't think there is a problem with having a favorite band member that you really want to meet.

Hmmmm... well I do have tons of tour shirts.  I guess that could be an option.  Wish I had an I&W or Awake tour shirt.  That would work!

Last time I had them sign a shirt, and used put that in a shadow box along with my VIP pass, ticket stub, picture with the band.

This time I'm leaning toward the litho from the box set so its something I can have MM sign and not have it be inappropriate.  You could always have them sign some of the M&G swag as well.

You were fine Pinchy.  I only brought up the money because people usually feel overly entitled when they shell out and sometimes forget that everyone else did as well.

While we're swapping M&G stories...the Shadow Gallery one was by far the coolest one I've been to, as Nick can attest to.  It lasted about 2 hours after the show and included a bonfire.  That's as badass as they get.

Yeah, maybe the "Special" tour shirt we get would be good.  I could do a shadow box with that, Passes and the 3 M&G pics with the band.

 - If I got one will I just tell my wife to wait in the car?!
 - If I got one and they gave me a ticket.. will I just tell my wife to wait in the car?! :lol

I think Metty is saying that he has a M&G, but his wife doesn't - and there are plenty of reasonable reasons for that.

My silence on the matter only implies I don't know the answer.  When I did the other M&G it was during prog nation, so I ended up missing the bulk of BigElf's set and the first half of ZPZ.  Don't know how it works on a regular concert.

If she isn't comfortable waiting in line alone with the masses, contact the people who run the M&G, and maybe they can allow her to wait at the merchandise booths during the M&G.

Thanks DTVT, that's what I meant. She's just going with me to the show and has no particular interest in the M&G.
I decided that since we're spending the night at a hotel anyway then might as well check in early and have her drop me off then go back to the hotel and return again when it's time for the show. I just have to propose this plan very delicatly cause it has the potential of getting a frying pan in the face reply :lol

I'm attending my first M&G in Oslo next year, also wondering what to get signed and what to talk about. We actually get all the stuff, the poster, t-shirt, and all that at the venue, so it wouldn't be that bad to carry around another poster with that. Maybe we even get a box for everything, that would be nice. If this is possible and practical I think I'll get the ADTOE litho print signed, and the CD.

They got pissed at me when I turned around after they snapped the photo and grabbed Mick's hand and told him I was glad I didnt have to pay for this shit!!!

Haha that's what I would do too! (Even though I think they wouldn't get it) No but really I would have something signed (a shirt, their album or whatever) but I probably would be too nervous to actually talk about anything.

I am attending my first DT concert in Atlanta at the Tabernacle on Oct. 19 and also purchased the M&G package so...it will be a night of firsts

I honestly have no idea what to expect at all, both in terms of what's given and interaction with the band. As sad as it might be, I've been writing down thoughts on what I'd want to say to each of the guys as well as make a list of the best item to get signed, though I might simply opt for some of the tour swag. So many decisions and choices!

Any tips, advice, etc. would be much appreciated because first impressions are (almost) everything.

I decided on a Snare drum head, which MM uses a Remo Emperor X or CS, I went with the X.  I don't think it's a bad Idea too write your thoughts down, I didn't, and I forgot a couple questions :(  Which of course I remembered as soon as I walked away...DOH!!

When I did my M&G a few years ago, I had the band sign an 8" drum head (made sure it was the same brand MP used) and that worked out great.  Easy to carry around, good room for all of them to sign, and MP even drew up the DT logo in the center.  Of course, I'm a drummer so it made the choice of a drumhead easy.

IF they get back to Phoenix on the (hopefully) 2nd US leg and I am fortunate enough to do the M&G, I'd have them all sign the ADTOE litho from the box set.

As for questions, well, I'm originally from Long Island near where JP is from, so I was able to talk to him about that.  I talked to MP about TSCO and what it meant to me because it was the 1 year anniversary of her passing (MP said he'd dedicate the song that night to my mom, which meant a lot to me when he did that), and I very briefly talked to JR about his playing style.  Didn't have much to say/ask JLB because while he was signing I was still talking to JP, and I just said Hi to JMX cause I figured that's all I'd get back anyway.

Definitely a good idea to come up with some questions beforehand, but realize you MAY only get one question with each member (if that) because they move you through the line pretty quick.  If you have more than one, try to ask it while they're setting you up for the band photo.

Oh, and HAVE FUN!

Can anyone post photos of the M&G now that the tour has started?

And what is the Dream Theater tour gift item?  ???

You are prohibited from taking your own pictures at M&G's, and sometimes it takes a few days for them to put the pictures online.

Although I'm not getting a M&G pass, I'd like someone to post pics of the stuff they got out of curiosity. i.e. poster, shirt, picks, etc.

If we're on the subject of M&G and VIP passes, I recently met Opeth through such event, and it was awesome.

They say one, but you might be able to squeeze two small ones in.

can you have 2 pictures taken with the band?

Only if you have 2 M&G packages.  The picture taking is as streamlined as the event gets.  The band is in a line, you walk in front of them, (Portnoy would do some goofy thing for everyone that you didn't see until you got the picture), they ask if you are ready, snap the pic and move to the next person.

I don't work for the band.  Wish I did sometimes though.

I've only done one M&G, but I remember it in great detail, as well as other people's posts.  I have near eidetic memory.  I just want people to get the most for their money, and part of that is knowing what to expect and keeping your expectations modest and realistic.

Not that it fits in here, but part of the M&G experience is just talking to the OTHER fans while you wait.  Chances are they like the band as much as we do, and its a good way to stay loose and not let the nerves get to you so you can make the most of your experience.

Driving to and from Nextstatge is a pain in the ass--lots of traffic.  And,  I've actually seen them try to charge for pulling up to the venue for dropping people off.*  Nextstage is in a large entertainment district that includes a minor league baseball stadium and Dallas's only horse track.  After getting butt-raped to park at Nextstage,  she could walk half a mile over to Lonestar park and watch a race or two.  Hell, even if she isn't into horse racing,  drunken degenerate gamblers always makes for some awesome people watching.  Grab a beer and some nachos and watch some idiot blow his daughter's college fund on some horse with an amusing name.

32°46'14.06"N  96°59'10.20"W  The concert venue is in the lower right corner of the area,  now called Verizon.

*I'm pretty sure this is not legal,  but arguing public property rights with some $7/hour flunky is only going to result in having to beat his ass.

In Chicago we were let in just after 5:45.  There was a lot of waiting.  I would imagine DT didn't come into the room until maybe 6:15-6:30.  I was towards the back of the line so I left the area with my gift bag around 7-7:15 and Trivium was just starting.  Fortunately the venue let us leave and come back so I dropped off my stuff in my car.  Most venues don't, however.

I missed about 10-15 minutes of Trivium since I took the extra time to go to my car, grab a drink and t-shirt, etc.  Otherwise you will be able to make it for both acts.

a night of firsts for me as well - 1st M&G and concert...

i thought about bringing the book "lifting shadows" with me for the guys to sign, but now i'm thinking that might be inappropriate and awkward to have MM sign it.   thoughts??  :blush   its already autographed by the author, so i thought it would have been cool to have the guys sign it too.  ah well...maybe just the new cd i guess.  i've read we don't get the swag until after autographs, which is unfortunate.

i'm also considering bringing some chocolate for JR.  i wonder if he would accept it?  it feels like i'm the lone ambassador from vermont going to see them, so i thought i'd bring him a modest sample from our local chocolate company (lake champlain chocolate), and hope they don't ask me what state vermont is in!!    ;D

i have no idea what i would ask them or say to them.  i'm probably going to feel like a 13 year-old girl at a justin bieber concert when i meet them...sure hope i don't come off that way to them!

Mix up their names.  Call JP Mr. Pattitucci.  Address JMX as Ma'am.

As for autographs,  I'd suggest taking something totally unique.  When I was planning on meeting H&H,  I printed a 24x36 copy of the original painting that became the cover of Mob Rules.  When everybody else was handing him the C&C album to sign,  I handed Tommy Chong the lid to a tin of Christmas cookies that's served as my tray for 20+ years.  He got a kick out of it and put a really cool autograph on it.  Point is,  be creative and maybe spend some time or money on creating something original.  Bosk's is a fine example, as well.  Autographed TA posters are a dime a dozen,  but TI shirts?

I am attending my first DT concert in Atlanta at the Tabernacle on Oct. 19 and also purchased the M&G package so...it will be a night of firsts

I honestly have no idea what to expect at all, both in terms of what's given and interaction with the band. As sad as it might be, I've been writing down thoughts on what I'd want to say to each of the guys as well as make a list of the best item to get signed, though I might simply opt for some of the tour swag. So many decisions and choices!

Any tips, advice, etc. would be much appreciated because first impressions are (almost) everything.

Be advised that the Meet and Greet goodies are handed out AFTER the M&G, not before, so be sure to bring any items you want signed.  Yeah, this differs from in the past where you get the stuff before and can have it signed right there.  This is a conscious decision the organizers have made to help speed things along...I guess.  Also, at least at the first two shows, the limited edition t-shirts were not included in the M&G swag due to manufacturing delays and will be shipped to you later.

From what I understand it goes in order of when you purchased the package.  I was second row dead center because I purchased mine about a minute after they went on sale.  The people in front of me purchased it the second they went on sale.

The people in the 5th row didn't purchase theirs right away.

You don't go early to get better seats. Your seats are what they are. They're all in a packet of stuff waiting for you at will call.

Title: Re: Question about meeting the band
Post by: Dr. DTVT on October 13, 2011, 04:35:00 PM
It probably depends on the circumstances.  If the band has a show the next day, or they are particularly exhausted after a show, you can't fault them for wanting to move on quickly, especially since they did give you the option of meeting them and getting something signed.  JR often spends his afternoon before the concert in some cultural center in the city, so if you can take that day off you might be able to meet him.  Just remember you're not going to be the only person with that idea.

Where are you located Jaffa?  If you are in Florida, keep in mind that the band are probably aware that Jamesman is in Florida, so they may have added security and may just stay inside the whole time.

I've seen this happen hundreds of times, and most of the time, the band member will exhibit a forced graciousness but be inwardly annoyed. It's really not polite to just accost them on the street and beg for an autograph. You may get what you want in terms of a sig, but do you really want to achieve your goal by becoming a nuisance? Keep in mind that when the band is in town for a gig, any time you spot them on the street is usually rushed time to have a quick meal or deal with some other minor emergency. You'll have better luck at an aftershow, when they are showered, relaxed, done with biz and ready to meet you and take photos and sign your stuff. You'll enjoy the experience much more if you do it this way, rather than a hit and run approach.

I always go the drum head route.  I have not met the DT guys, but have met quite a few other groups and have found that a drum head is just about the perfect item, not only for signing but for framing as well.  I have a few framed with just the ticket beneath.  If I'm lucky enough to get a pic with the band, I'll put that in too.  In terms of what to say, I'm not much help.  No matter how much I try, I get uncomfortable talking to people at meet and greet.  It always seems a little forced.  Always worried that I'll say something that they have heard a gajillion times, or try to hard to be original and just be awkward.  Good luck with whatever you do and have a blast!

Can you remember your first M&G? Was it a train-wreck? I say this because I felt like my experience could have been about a million times better. For over a month I had thought of topics to discuss with each band member. However, when it was my turn to go through the line to get their autographs, my brain decided that it was time for a shutdown.

All I could really say to most of them was a simple "How are you doing tonight?"

Apparently my nervousness from meeting the band for the first time took control more than I had anticipated. The frustrating part is that when I was finished, I immediately remembered everything I wanted to ask/say.  :censored

Am I the only one out there who wishes they could have a re-do? Would someone else like to share their experience?

Yeah, I got brain lock first time I met DT as well, which was made all the more frustrating by the fact that I was perfectly comfortable meeting and having dinner with two Nobel prize winners the year before.

Thankfully, at my second M&G I was perfectly collected and got plenty of time with each member except for JR, who seemed very concerned with something else at the time.  It wasn't just me who missed the op, several others did as well, but I felt the extra time with each member made up for it, as well as getting a gift from JMX.

I will be meeting them the first time next Thursday.  I have anxiety issues that I recently got a lot of control over (Celexa helps a ton).  They're just human though, so more than likely I'm going to ask them if they're excited to spend the holidays with their families since the Dallas stop is the last before next year.

EDIT

I didnt realize they added a lot more shows to this leg of the tour.  Either way they're just human and I'll just be grateful but not overly grateful.

I've never done an official "pay a crazy amount of money to meet the band after a show" sorta meet & greet, but I guess the first time I really met them was at the release party/autograph session for Scenes From a Memory on its release date in '99.  I was still a relatively new DT fan at the time (only got into them in '97) and I was only 17, so I was all like... totally star struck.  I remember having a brief chat with Jordan, who had just joined the band and made a comment about my FII t-shirt, but that was about it.

Oh, and they were going around giving out various free stuff and MP was about to give me a signed copy of the Five Years... VHS, but then he asked me if I already had it and I said yes (didn't even think) and he gave it to somebody else instead.

Lol... it was a pretty good day.  As soon as I left I immediately put the SFAM CD into my discman and experienced that album for the first time.  (My initial reaction to the intro was... "Wtf is going on?!?")

If I ever do a Meet and greet with the guys, I'd try not to have high expectations. I'd go into it just being happy to see them, saying hello, having an eye contact and getting their signatures on a CD. But that's what it's like with M&Gs, it's different if you get a chance to talk to them after the show or something. Then you have a minute or two to exchange a couple of lines.

Yup, although not everything in the photos is from the M&G.  I'll go over it all.  (sorry for the gigantic pictures)

Left to right, top to bottom:

Poster you get from M&G
T-Shirt you get from M&G
Album cover I had band sign (item I brought)
Shirt I bought
VIP laminate
DT tote bag you get from M&G
Shirt I bought
Signed picture you get from M&G (signed by band ahead of time)

Last items in close up:

Next three items are John Petrucci guitar pics and the pick box disassembled.
Dream Theater sharpie was a gift from John Myung.  :metal

Thank you!! The m&g shirt looks cool (what it's written under the logo? I suposse it's the back, isn't it?).

Anyway, VIP Nation said they'll probably change the gifts in the european tour... I hope they will make it as least, as good as your items!

Title: Question about London M&G
Post by: COB55 on January 15, 2012, 07:46:55 AM
Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could please tell me what time you have to be at Wembley Arena to attend the Meet & Greet? I'm thinking of buying a ticket for the M&G but I need to know what time I will have to be there, since I have work that day and there's a chance I might be working late. Does anyone know this?

Thanks!

Thinking about getting a Meet & Greet ticket for the Stuttgart show because i`m celebrating my 20th year as a DT fan and I have a new JPX (with roasted neck) that i`d love to get signed by JP.
Any of you have any experience from these M&G`s? I see two problems: 1. I would not be able to bring anything to get signed other than whats in the M&G package. 2. I`m not allowed to leave the venue after the M&G to put my guitar in my car.
Any help would be appreciated as I think the package is kinda expensive...

Cheers,

Tommy

I'm not sure about that... If I were you, I would shoot an email over to the company that arranges the M&G, and also possibly to the ticket site, just asking that question and if a M&G will become available.

VIP Packages for the new North American leg are not up yet, although the site lists them for sale.  I assume the new packages will include tickets, not just a M&G upgrade as presently listed in the VIP Nation site.

Guess we'll have to keep our ears to the ground for any presale rumblings.  El Paso presale 4/17 and tix for Richmond go onsale 4/14.

If I may be a little nosy, how much were the U.S. full meet and greets last time (the ones including a ticket)?

Just trying to prepare here. 99.9% positive I'm going.

EDIT: Well, my question may be answered shortly. The majority of the summer dates just went up (although I'm nervous that Cleveland isn't listed yet, but they did say every date would have a meet and greet).

I wouldn't worry. From what I have seen, the only dates that are listed on the VIP Nation website have tickets listen on Ticketmaster or have been officially confirmed by the venue.

Any Korean and/or Indonesian fans here?

Was the M&G package made available to your country? I'm going to the Singapore event and there is no M&G package yet, only a VIP package. DT.net mentioned that M&G is available on all dates, but some dates actually don't have any M&G, only Japan for the Asia Tour.

Anyone who can answer this? :)

I was towards the front of the line...so it was a bit rushed. Those that were last in line were able to linger a bit longer while passing to each member.

To me, 20-30 seconds is rushed haha. I'm in the camp that would love to have 20-30 minutes.

Totally agree. The first meet and greet I went to, which was during the Chaos in Motion tour, I got a couple minutes to talk to James about vocal technique and practicing. It was awesome. That was before their part of the concert.
Did the M&G again during Progressive Nation 08 at the LC Pavilion and it was after the show and it was a bit rushed and everything was quite disorganized but I remember reading somewhere that they changed the company they did the M&G with?
I hope the meet and greet at the LC Pavilion this time will be before they play.
I saw a video of the M&G for Opeth and it was a lot less structured and you could just go up to the guys and talk. Just get little groups together with each member and just chat. I hope it is more like that this time.

Last tour the M&G was well before the opening band at the show I went to.  You shouldn't miss anything.

At PN09 I missed all but the first Bigelf song and the first half of the ZPZ set.

Also, make sure you are in the middle or towards the end of the M&G line.  The front does seem to go faster, I don't think they explicitly push your through, I think people at the front are trying to be courteous to those in the back.

I think it depends on the theater.  At the Warner theater in D.C. we didn't, and the policy enforced by the staff there had us packed like sardines in the lobby for almost 40 minutes before letting us in, and when I say "us" I mean all ticket holders, not just the ones who got let in the gate early for the M&G.

Yes it is.  In Chicago a few people did this but it might depend on the venue.  The thing is, a lot of venues will not let you leave and reenter so you might be stuck carrying around a guitar for the whole show.  We were lucky because in Chicago they let us go put our stuff in our cars.  A lot of venues don't.

I did it last year, and it was an incredible experience. I'm not going to sugar coat it, you get about 10 seconds with each band member. The band's management can be a little pushy, but the members themselves are super nice. Jordan did hang around talking to a couple people for awhile.

I met some really cool people that were also there, and (this can vary depending on the venue and where they choose to give you seats) I sat in the center of the very first row!

Awesome! I'm sure you will have a fantastic time! One piece of advise (that you have probably already thought about) - Think of what you want to say to them in advance (don't necessarily memorize it), and that way you won't freeze up like I saw a couple people do at the meet and greet.

You get to be around them for around 10 minutes (i.e. watch them come in and sit at the table signing). Once the line starts moving for the actual signing, it moves pretty quick and you have about 15 seconds with each member. The tour people will try and speed things along, but the band members aren't rude about it at all. It is a really cool experience, and usually they will have you sit in a tented "VIP" area before hand with everyone else that has the M&G package, so try and meet some new people (cause everyone there is guaranteed to be a die-hard!).

It sounds short, but it is totally worth it, as the picture lasts a lifetime, and you get some neat merchandise too (guitar picks, t-shirt, VIP laminate). Don't fret about the price for value since its already paid for, and just have a great time  :tup
