We can always hope for a bootleg ;D

I'll be getting my VIP when they go on sale in a couple of hours. See you there!!
-
Alright. I am definitely going. Should be bringing a few forum goers who rarely post with me. I am fucking Stoked! :caffeine:
-
Got dead center orch 15th row, just perfect seats. I pulled up front row at one point, but let them go. Had these same seats once before, and spent the entire show yelling at the security dude to get the f*ck out of the way as he stood right in front of me and refused to move or sit down. Couldn't see anything on the stage in front of me. Ended up leaving early and very unhappy

Just got my tix. Row V orchestra. Not bad.
-
I'm in!!! :metal :metal :metal Just got my meet and greet set up!
-
I'll be there, orchestra center row m. Anybody know how easy it is @ the Nokia Theatre to get to the stage door post-show? I'd really like to meet the band, but can't afford to shell out the extra $$ for a meet-n-greet.
-
Just a matter of scrounging up the funds for me, but if all goes well I shall be there! :metal
-
Have fun guys....
Waiting for the next gig is just painful
-
hoping to, but haven't got tix yet
-
what are you waiting for???
what if sells out :o
-
ok so its official. Me and my group of DT fanatics will be there. Not 100% sure where the seats are... but they are the cheap ones. either way.... OOOHHHH YEEEEAAAA!

So I hate to spam, but is anyone looking for a ticket? I got a ticket in the orch center Row T that I need to sell. I'll part with it for 40 bucks, thats half price and hell if it comes down to it I'm willing to negotiate. Send me a PM if you or anyone you know is interested, I need every dollar I can get for PPUSA next week.

We got our itinerary from VIP Nation. We have to meet at the VIP Nation booth outside at 6:15 :omg: They'll give us our goodie bag and tix at that time, They don't specify if the meet and greet is before or after the show, but arriving at that time I'll assume it's before... :lol

Hi guys and gals,
I've been out of the touring schedule loop and checked for tickets yesterday and the best I could do for 1 ticket is Row P in Orchestra. I didn't get it though.
I think I want to go, but surprisingly nobody else wants to. If anybody's got an extra ticket feel free to PM and I'd appreciate it!
Also, what are the chances of just showing up and good tickets coming available for sale? Thanks in advance
-Tof
-
every concert I have ever been to has had people outside selling tickets that they are stuck with (and/or scalpers). I would say your odds are good
also, I just remembered I am flying out of LAX the next AM so I booked a hotel at the airport. if anyone from out of town needs a place to crash after the show, hollar at me.
-
Ticketmaster had a ticket row K Orch right in the center. I think this will do. I haven't been to a DT show in 6 years since seeing them at Jones Beach, Long Island on Gigantour. I can't miss this when I'll already be in Anaheim for a ball game. No excuses not to go. Very excite!!

Are there parking lots within walkable distance of the venue that charge less than the main parking? I've never seen a show here before.

Not sure, but that's really not an area you want to be walking real far in ;) There are like 4 lots around the area, my guess is they are all gonna charge you about the same. Maybe a lil cheaper at the outside ones. My question is are there any restraunt/bars right there.

The "LA Live" area that the Nokia is in is fine, but yeah, agree that the surrounding area is not that great. Here is a link to the restaurants in LA Live and info about each restaurant. Haven't been to any of these, but based on past visits to LA Live, ESPN Zone seems really popular.

Thank you so much for this!!!! I'll try to text in the setlist tomorrow night. Don't think I can do as great a job as Jamesman did tonight... (I'm a phone-net dummy. If someone like cyberdrummer wants to PM me a cell, I can text the songs in happily :)

You never know... This is many years ago but I remember one time a friend and I drove up to the ticket office at the Universal Amphitheater to see if we could get tickets to Jethro Tull just a few hours before the show. People ahead of us were going away mumbling dissatisfaction and when we got to the counter we said we'd take whatever they had. I remember the ticket person asking if we were really truly big fans to which we replied yes (of course). I told her that I was at the show the night before and thought it was so good that I wanted my friend to see the show. To make a short story long, we got absolute front and center in the "orchestra pit" ... we used to joke that we could count Ian Andersons nose hairs from our seats.
So anyway, Like I said, you never know ;).
EDIT: Got kind of nostalgic after reading my own post and dug out my ticket stub... it was Tues Dec 15 1987, Section: PIT, Row: AAA, Seat 3 (my friend got seat 1)... Time to scan all my old stubs. Some of them are fading fast :(.
-
(Un)fortunately I don't live in the US, so probably not a good idea to text me the setlist - thanks anyway!
-
Yeah..... that could get expensive.... :lol My GF is a helluva lot more phone/internet savvy than me, I'll have her help me out :)

When can we expect some updates from this show ?

I grabbed a table at yard house before the rush if anyone wants to meet here. Just pm me and I will tell u where I am

When can we expect some updates from this show ?
According to last night's show, someone said DT played from 9:15 to 11:15.
So:
Eastern: updates start 12:15am
Central: updates start 11:15pm
Mountain: updates start 10:15pm
and so on....
-
SOB! I totally forgot about the show tonight. I so would have been there with the new GF if I had remembered a few hours ago  What was I thinking???
-
I think we can expect the same set from last night. Just 2 cents
-
Yeah, I don't see the set list changing much at all. Maybe a different encore or a slight one or two song change here and there throughout the tour... but I think the set list will stay pretty much in tact for the most part.
-
I think we can expect the same set from last night. Just 2 cents
3-5 song rotation is my bet.
-
:corn
-
Shows probably starting about now.
Seeing as they learned 3 hours of material total, I suspect they'll switch Outcry and Bridges as well as UAGM for LTL or Metropolis.
-
Bridges will probably remain the opener

I hope they change at least a couple of songs, so we don't get the exact same setlist (no surprises) every night... :\

-

I think its safe to assume that we will either get the same amount of rotation as the European tour or more.
But, who knows? We're like 35 minutes into the set out of 2+ hours.
-
I just hope they switch up the encore. UAGM is such a weird song to end with

Amazing mm solo and ytsejam

I was about to go to sleep until I decided to check one last time and then I saw WFS. Now i'm hooked and need to know what happens.
Dammit.

WFS and FFH... Interesting!
-
Oooh I haven't seen Wait for Sleep or The Silent Man live yet... so I'd be happy with either. Kinda would be cooler to see Wait for Sleep though...
-
WFS and FFH... Interesting!
Does anyone know for sure whether or not it was FFH or BTS? I MUST KNOW.
-
Me too. I need my sleep
-
MY BAD. It is far from heaven and now angels
-
Thanks for clearing that up, yeshaberto.
I'm betting on an encore from Awake.
-
Hmm, very interesting! So they've swapped out "Beneath The Surface" for "Far From Heaven". I wonder if "Outcry" will be swapped out for "Breaking All Illusions" or "Lost Not Forgotten"?
Looks like BITS, BMUBMD and OTBOA will be tour staples so far. I'd like it if they swapped "Outcry" out with one of the other two epics.
Also, the WFS/FFH set sounds EPIC. Hope this shows up on YouTube tomorrow!!!
If the encore is from awake, I'd suspect something of similar length. Maybe "The Mirror"? Or perhaps "Voices"?
-Marc.
-
Voices would rock for an encore... or even Scarred.
Not sure if I'd rather see Outcry of BAI live... hmmm... tough one.
-

I know JP doesn't care for the song, but Scarred would be a good encore, although I think Voices is more likely. And to think about it, I can't really think of a good encore from Awake. :lol
-
Ha ha he just said how he was reading boards last night so they r changing things up. Caught in a webt

I wouldn't assume Awake will get a song later on tonight just because The Silent Man wasn't played.

Good point... "Voices" would probably be the best choice, IMO.
They could always do an FII encore? "New Millennium" would be a shocker much like "Under A Glass Moon" was, or perhaps one of the longer FII songs (LITS or TOT?). Perhaps "Peruvian Skies", but that would make LESS SENSE as an encore than UAGM.
-Marc.
-
Ha ha he just said how he was reading boards last night so they r changing things up. Caught in a webt

BAI in DC pls!
(and woot for CIAW)
-
CIAW >>>>> Forsaken
Good choice, DT! Maybe we'll see a song from FII for the encore, then?
-Marc.
-
This show needs BAI to finish the main set. And why I'm at it...
BAI in Chicago! DO IT DAMMIT!

Thru my words

It looks like we're in the 3-5 song rotation I predicted! Woo! :metal

Hoping for BAI

At this point last night, they played Outcry and UAGM, which is about 20 minutes. We have around 30 minutes left to hit two hours for this show.
Maybe BAI plus longer encore?!

Chicago is on for tonight's rotation setlist as well (assuming they only have two rotating sets). I prefer tonight's set to last night's already, even though i'd LOVE to see BTS and Outcry.
-
BAI. YEEEEEEAAAAAh
-
if they do an alternating setlist, no BAI for dc, so i want tons of high quality youtube clips! :3

Encore? I'm still betting on a song from FII. But they could surprise and pull out something from SC or BC&SL, but what? Hmmm...
-Marc.

Did i miss OTBOA in the setlist? Could it mean LNF as encore?
OTBOA is there

Refreshing this thread like every 30 seconds. The suspense!
-
So, just as a recap, the ADTOE songs they've played include:
OTBOA
BMUBMD
BITS
Outcry
FFH
BAI
BTS
This leaves "Lost Not Forgotten" and "This Is The Life". It'd be easy to rotate LNF in to replace any of the 10-13 minute tracks in the set list if they have them in their song-pool, but as for TITL? It could work in the acoustic-set they have going on, in play of BTS/FFH.
(EDIT because I'm stupid and it's late on the East Coast)

Considering TITL is a ballad and LNF is a longer song, they could possibly be doing 3 rotating setlists. so BTS SM and Outcry, WFS FFH and BAI, and TITL Spirit Carries on and Lost Not Forgotten? just an idea and maybe metropolis for an encore?
-
I like this set list better than last night's. Last night's was a solid B. Tonight's is an A-.
-
Just an observation: nothing from SC or BC&SL so far on the two lists...conspicuous?
-
Sad to say I won't miss hearing anything off of either of those ^^
-
They've already done more setlist rotating than I thought they would. The idea that they could have a third different set would be great and definitely would silence the people who are hating based on the fact they said the setlist rotating wouldn't be done as much.
-
Just an observation: nothing from SC or BC&SL so far on the two lists...conspicuous?
"Forsaken" was on the SF set list...
Still nothing from FII or BC&SL, though.
-Marc.
-
Just an observation: nothing from SC or BC&SL so far on the two lists...conspicuous?
Forsaken was played last night.
The only song they'd probably play from BC&SL is The Count of Tuscany, but it is too long. Playing that would eliminate three or four other songs, and they obviously wanna play all or most of the new album along the way. Wither would be a good choice, but with the mellow songs from the new album to pick from and either Wait for Sleep or The Silent Man as of now in there, they probably don't want to have too many mellow songs.
-
Just an observation: nothing from SC or BC&SL so far on the two lists...conspicuous?
They played "Forsaken" last night
-
Carry on.
-
So, just to recap...
1. Bridges In The Sky
2. These Walls
3. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
4. Endless Sacrifice
5. Mike Mangini Drum Solo
6. Ytse Jam
7a. The Silent Man / 7b. Wait For Sleep
8a. Beneath The Surface / 8b. Far From Heaven
9. The Great Debate
10. On The Backs Of Angels
11a. Forsaken / 11b. Caught In A Web
12. Through My Words/Fatal Tragedy
13a. Outcry / 13b. Breaking All Illusions
Encore: 14a. Under A Glass Moon / 14b. Pull Me Under
-Marc.
-
Ha ha he just said how he was reading boards last night so they r changing things up.
Boards as in...DTF?
-
That's right. Let's see if they have a C setlist or not for the next show.
I can also see them playing Metropolis and Learning To Live as encores throughout this tour as well.
-
So, just to recap...

3. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
4. Endless Sacrifice
5. Mike Mangini Drum Solo

13a. Outcry / 13b. Breaking All Illusions
Encore: 14a. Under A Glass Moon / 14b. Pull Me Under
-Marc.
That's REALLY neat-looking, actually.
My preferences would be
Wait For Sleep
Beneath the Surface
Forsaken
Outcry
Under A Glass Moon
It looks like I went to the right show for my tastes!
-
I suspect some will be aggravated if Breaking All Illusions gets "relegated" to every other show (or every third show) status, but as far as the new album goes, if this pattern holds, the three songs from the new album they will play every night will be the two singles (assuming BMU, BMD is the 2nd single, which is a very safe assumption) and the best song (Bridges in the Sky). Nothing wrong with that. :coolio
-
That's right. Let's see if they have a C setlist or not for the next show.
I can also see them playing Metropolis and Learning To Live as encores throughout this tour as well.
Well, with only 2 ADTOE songs not being played, I'd say there COULD be a good chance at a C-Setlist to cover those two songs, in which case, they could also swap out 3 other songs, including the Encore, which would be another IAW, if they stick to the pattern so far (doing an IAW song for the encore).
They're swapping 4 songs in the main set, so if they play LNF, it'd replace Outcry/BAI, and if they did TITL, it'd replace BTS/FFH.
This would leave replacing TSM/WFS with something short and acoustic...maybe Hollow Years in an acoustic version? Or perhaps a piano/vocals version of "Wither"?
And this would leave replacing Forsaken/CIAW with something else, maybe something from FII like "Burning My Soul" or "You Not Me"? :lol I keed I keed...
-Marc.
-
If my calculations are correct (which they probably aren't) those tracks make up about 140 minutes of music.
Do I remember reading somewhere that they were learning 3 hours worth?
/purespeculation
-
That's what that one recent interview said. 3 hours of material.
-

Please let this happen!!
And it seems like they're only using old ones in the main that they've played with Mangini before so you'll probably get Peruvian Skies in that slot instead of CIAW/Forsaken.
-
Thinking about the weird encores, I kind of like the direction I think they might be headed in. Instead of the same epic every night (TCOT for the previous tours), they select surprising shorter songs to switch up often to keep things spicy. I kinda like it.
-
Just an observation: nothing from SC or BC&SL so far on the two lists...conspicuous?
Forsaken, bro.
-
If I am not mistaken, since Mangini joined the band, aside from the new album, the only albums that have seen more than one song played live are Images and Words (five), Awake (two) and Scenes (two). Looks like they must know what their best albums are. :coolio
-
That's what that one recent interview said. 3 hours of material.
If that's true, there's about 45 minutes of other songs we haven't heard yet (doing a rough calculation of song lengths, I reached about 135 minutes total between the songs of the two sets). This could include TITL and LNF, which would account for about 18 minutes of that 45, leaving 27 minutes.
Let's say they play Learning To Live as the C-List encore, leaving 15 minutes, and two songs to replace Forsaken/CIAW and TSM/WFS, which is only about 10 minutes of set-time, so there might be SOME rounding-up in terms of the "3 hours" thing, so with that logic, there's a chance there's a third setlist to come!
-Marc.

Lonestar is about to fucking rage. Watch out.
:rollin
I'm cool, no chairs being thrown here. BTS was the no. 1 song I wanted to hear, and I did. Yes, BAI would have been epic, but outcry rocked. WFS would be hard without LTL after, for me, and TSM was awesome. PMU, heard it many times. Great set tonight though, glad you guys got a shake up. :tup
-
If they do a 3rd set list, and Lost Not Forgotten takes the place of Outcry/Breaking All Illusions, since that is not really a set closer kind of song (IMO), I say they move it to Endless Sacrifice's slot and end the set with In the Name of God. Who's with me?!?!
-
Gotta include Peruvian Skies in there too.
-
That's what that one recent interview said.
-Marc.
TITL, LNF, Peruvian Skies, Learning to Live and Metropolis will be the other songs we hear this tour. They're only playing stuff they've played before + PMU.

Well, apparently they read the SF thread and took suggestions, so.....

Eh, I never felt like "Outcry" would be a set-closer either, but I think it would work if they are doing "Outcry" as a set closer and, weirder still, UAGM as an encore. Anything goes!
Gotta include Peruvian Skies in there too.
And yes, this has to come back. If it's thrown in, it's going to rotate out with Forsaken/CIAW.
Still makes me wonder what could be replacing TSM/WFS...

Speak to Me or Lifting Shadows Off a Dream would be great choices. Yes, they are full band songs, but they'd still be good alternates given the vibe.
-
Come to think of it, the only non-European non-ADTOE song we know is new to Mangini is Pull Me Under, which is one of the easier songs from what I understand. I don't know if we'll see anything too heavy that replaces TSM/WFS/BTS/FFH.
-
I just gotta say, this being my first new album as a DTFer, being a member here throughout this process has been great fun and totally enhanced the whole experience a hundred fold. Thanks guys!

True, but at least 3/5ths of the band had to take the time to learn them anyway, despite how short they are. I still think they've got one more under-5-minute song that could be treated the same, and I'd hope for "Wither" as piano-vocal, or perhaps an FII song. Or maybe "Space-Dye Vest" as JR and JLB played it?
-Marc.

Maybe Through Her Eyes as well? Wither would be amazing. They could easily play a 30 minute set of stripped back stuff. What I would give to see that...
Also, MP would not have sanctioned this. As far as I know this is new territory too. DT pushing boundaries again!
-
"Through Her Eyes" would be interesting, but they've already got TMW/FT to represent SFAM. It seems the only albums they are doing multiples from are IAW and Awake.
Possible C-Setlist:
1. Bridges In The Sky
2. These Walls
3. Build Me Up, Break Me Down
4. Endless Sacrifice
5. Mike Mangini Drum Solo
6. Ytse Jam
7. ___(Stripped-down piece?)___
8. This Is The Life
9. The Great Debate
10. On The Backs Of Angels
11. Peruvian Skies
12. Through My Words/Fatal Tragedy
13. Lost Not Forgotten
Encore: 14. Learning To Live OR Metropolis
If they play "Wither", they'll have every album covered with at LEAST one song:
WDADU - Ytse Jam
IAW - PMU, Metropolis, UAGM, WFS, LTL
Awake - CIAW, TSM
FII - PS
SFAM - TMW/FT
SDOIT - TGD
TOT - ES
8VM - TW
SC - Forsaken
BC&SL - ..."Wither" if they do it...
-Marc.

Can someone post the set list of this show without any personal twists on it? I'm a little confused.

Breaking All Illusions was beyond words.. so beautifully done. The entire show was incredible.
It was funny - during Pull Me Under, James got lost during one of the verses, realized what had happened, stopped singing and said something to the effect of "We've played this song hundreds of times and I'm still fucking it up". And then just before the chorus he says "sing this with me - apparently I need the help" xD
Hilarious.
Mangini - flawless
JP - incredible
JR&JM - absolutely wonderful
JL - breath taking
All and all, the was the best concert I've ever been too. Thank you DT for putting on one hell of a show.
-
Oh and also to the person sitting in row KK, seat 318... you smelled like shit. -________-
-
Oh yeah this set list is definitely better than the 24th one. But I like them both.

Endless Sacrifice! ....sacrifice. ...sacrifice...sacrifice...
-
I was thinking, that for the acoustic part of the show, they could do any songs they have with little to no drums, then MM wouldn't have to learn anymore stuff and everyone else pretty much knows it.
-
I still thought it was so cool that JLB referred to his reason for changing some of the songs (and playing BAI) to reading the boards last night. I would assume that he was talking about the boards at dt.net, but I don't think it is a stretch that he hopped on over here as well
very cool
-
BTW, had a great meet up with crimson sunrise and his GF. both were very cool

The only song that seems changed for the latest set list is Pull Me Under instead of UAGM.
BAI was being played anyway. They wouldn't have been able to all learn the song and put it together last minute just because a forum wanted it. But PMU is a song they've all played a million times (aside from Mangini, of course).
Still great to know they care, and are so in touch with their fanbase. Not many bands that big can claim that. :tup

Erm, Wait For Sleep? FFH?

I think Caught In A Web replacing Forsaken might also have been a fan-induced change.

Erm, Wait For Sleep? FFH?
I didn't mean changed from last night's setlist.

Great show tonight! :tup

Oh man. So anything CAN happen...
Massey Hall October 6 can't come soon enough!
-
... I would assume that he was talking about the boards at dt.net...
I took a look over there; there was one thread with 14 posts discussing the set list.
I'd say, as usual, DTF wins.

Amazing show from my vantage point-- second row in the pit, dead center. Here are some reflections:
Glad to see plenty of new songs rotated in the setlist. Breaking All Illusions was bonerific, so glad I got to see it in its first ever run through!
Mangini messed up on PMU's second chorus and James gave him a mighty glare. Before the bows, MM made some comment of acknowledment to James, which JLB responded with a smile.
PMU is a bit of an anticlimatic encore choice in my opinion, or maybe thats just cuz its the 27th time i've seen DT.
The tour program's intro pages offer some interesting JP insights into the albums recording process (difficulties with recording vocals on 2 songs which prompted JP to go to Canada to work out; album's working title was Bridges in the Sky, etc.)
I asked JP if the setlists are selected as a committee on this tour, he replied that they all pool together on which songs really stand out to them, and JP ultimately decides the final setlist (with a lot of help from others he said).
BMUBMD chorus screetches were backing tracks, in my estimation.
Jordan appeared to make an exasperated face/rolling of eyes during the rudimentary parts of Ytse Jam. Perhaps he gets bored with that song, I dunno. Other than that, great palpable energy on stage from all members. JMX was on fire whole show!!!
Will most likely go to another city to catch Beneath the Surface and Outcry in rotation. Just need to guess what cities they will be played. Boston would be great!
-
Great show tonight! So happy to hear BAI. Only bad part was we were located towards the back and some of the people there just wanted to sit and watch. When a couple people stood up, people behind them yelled at them to sit down. People in the orchestra section were standing up throughout the show though. Also, someone in back decided to smoke some marijuana for a while. Lovely smell. But overall, my cousin and I enjoyed the concert alot. The Nokia is a great venue and it was pretty full.
-
WOW!
Now THAT'S what I call a set list! Breaking all illusions, Wait for sleep, Caught in a web, and Pull me under as an encore. I'm blown away, gotta see this show. :hefdaddy
-
Awesome setlist, a notch better than the first one.
-
I think this is the superior setlist. BAI > Outcry. Plus, UAGM makes a really really weird encore. I hope they go with this list in Albany!
-
**DISCLAIMER.......sorry if it's LOOOOONG winded :lol :lol :lol
Howdy Amigos!!!!! WHEW!!! What a fucking night!! It's 1:30am as I start this and I'm still amped!!!! As a disclaimer....ya gotta cut me some slack for the screw up for the last 4 songs of the setlist. I'm basically handicapped when it comes to posting on the web with my phone. Also, I was major multi-tasking with...
1. Updating said setlist
2. Taking still shots with my point and shoot (They allowed Cams without detachable lenses and no flash) So I shot in manual no flash and hoped for the best.
3. Taking Video with my little picsio flip (first glance doesn't look so hot :( Crappy sensor couldn't adjust to the changing and low light. We'll see what I can do
editing. My GF's iPhone actually took better vid..... :lol
4. Trying to actually enjoy the show (which I succeeded in) :lol
5. Trying to have a cocktail (not succeeding so well :lol )
6. Dealing with the dickhead behind me who couldn't help but yell "Mother fucker" every 5 seconds Seriously...that's all he said all night
Anywho.... I want to try to capture this all now while it's fresh in my noggin, before my "Oldtimers" kicks in (Yeah you 30+ crew know what I'm talking about). We started the night by hooking up with Yeshaberto at the Yardhouse for some eats and a libation.. Awesome guy!! We really enjoyed the time spent hanging out and chatting :) Have a safe flight in the morning Brother!!! From there we had to meet outside the venue for the Meet and Greet. We went in with 60 others about 20 mins before they let the rest of the folks in. I saw Raise the Knifes review....he must have been a few seats down from us. Sorry we didn't get to meet you!
They led us upstairs to the VIP area and we waited for the guys too show up (about 15 mins). They came in, we took our pics, and did the signings. The guys were in really good spirits. JMX was actually smiling and trading some banter with JLB. As far as our brief time ...seconds...with each guy, it was really fun. JP was first, I told him I really loved the album and his production of it, also that every time I see him (this is my 3rd M&G) his arms just get bigger and bigger His response was "Yeah... I've been lifting things" given with a huge grin ;D Next was Mike, told him the obligatory "Welcome to the Family" which he loved, and asked if I had gotten the right drum head (which is what I ended up bringing to sign) He said yes :metal, WOOHOO!!!! All I had was a pic of his kit to go by.
Next up was JLB, basically commented that he sounds awesome on the album and how I'm amazed how his voice just seems to get better as time goes on. He said something to the effect that it's because of his vocal resting regimen. Next up was JMX, I told him I was absolutely thrilled to see him writing lyrics again, and that songs he has done in the past our some of my top DT tracks. He gave me a warm smile and "Thank you". Last but not least JR, I commented on how much he shines and stands out on this album. My GF on the other hand fawned all over him...(he's her fav ;) ) and we were off to the lobby. The guys were as gracious and friendly as past M&G's, but they seemed more relaxed to me this time.
By the time we got out Trivium was already going at it, we stayed in the lobby had a drink, and went in when they were done (we could hear them...they sounded pretty good). We also experienced a first for me. This venue has a no re-entry policy. We're both smokers, and the harsh reality of that policy sunk in... :lol :omg:
We got too our seats, 3rd row, right between JLB and JP. Of course I had a guy who seriously was at least 6' 4" in front of me....I'm 5' 7" on a good day ;D So, through out the show I played dodgeball with his head trying to see and get media. Everyone knows the setlist, so I'll glance over some highlights....
BITS.... just STELLAR!!!!! The intro with Blob's animation was GREAT!!! Well dona...again... Blob :metal Everyone sounded great and the crowd was pumped!
These Walls - :tup I love this song, I know most aren't that fond of it but I am
BMUBMD - It was good.... This sound hasn't really grabbed hold of me yet. One note... some of the Vocal segments were recorded, the part right before "I'm the new Messiah" also all the screams were recorded.
Endless Sacrifice - fantastic!!! Great song live and the guys really put energy into it!!
Drum solo - was very entertaining, I know I was initially leaning towards another song in it's place, but I really enjoyed watching Mike have fun!!!!
Wait for Sleep - This is my favorite ballad in the DT vault. JMX and JLB took seats, and JR rounded out the trio..... simply AMAZING!!!
FFH - My Fav. ballad on the new Album, I was really stoked that they played it, especially for my GF who loves it!!!
The Great Debate - Another tune that some don't care for that much but I REALLY enjoy!! The guys nailed it!
OTBOA - I like this song, and have since it's release. For those who rank it down a bit, I think you might enjoy it more Live ;)
******This is where JLB goes into his musings about reading online about the disappointment that some fans had with the SF setlist. Honestly... he didn't seem too happy about the fan reaction. I'm sure they had some type of rotation set up, because of the vid/stage show. Maybe Blob knows more on that score ;)
CIAW - Actually not one of my Fav's...but I really enjoyed it this time around!!
Through my words/fatal tragedy - Just outstanding, don't think I've seen these live. Knowing that the finale's were coming up, I had to actually run to the bathroom :lol What I was bummed about when returning (at the upper seating are) was how good the mix sounded up there. WAY better than what I was hearing up front :sadpanda: THAT...is my only real gripe about the show, and it wasn't THAT bad.
BAI - I called this last night, while we were reading thru the SF setlist, I told my GF that they might swapout Outcry/BAI in this slot. Well.....when I say the crowd went wild...I ain't lying!!! :metal :metal :metal WOW...what an awesome song.
PMU - Not my fav song, but really enjoyed it this time around! The crowd was seriously into it!!!! Yeah, like it was mentioned, MM really had some timing issues with this song, but recovered. Wasn't this the first time he's played it live though?? I'll cut him some slack :yarr
Overall......this show was fantastic. Loved the setlist, the energy of the band was better than recent performances. I loved one part when JP came center stage with JLB and gave him the old "Pillsbury dough boy" treatment poking his finger in his gut...both of them Laughing. MM.... well, he fits right in just fine for me. JMX seemed a LOT more animated and happier....less on autopilot like I've seen in recent years. Jordan was awesome.... unfortunetly, because of the levels and mix at our seats, we didn't really get to hear him as much as we would have liked. What we DID hear kicked ass!!!! Loved the tilting Keyboards also!!!
Sorry for going on ...and on...and on... :lol Hopefully I didn't bore you to tears  Thanks for reading :)

I need a video of BAI now.
I'm sure someone took better ones than mine :( I'm gonna try to edit it (color correction) in the AM....wait...it IS the AM!!!!! Well...in 6 hours or so  My GF got some decent clips on her iPhone....but they're only snippets. Mine were full songs for the most part...so cross your fingers :lol
Thanks Zy, and Optimus :)

Oh my god how fucking good is LaBrie. Bloody hell.
-
Fuckin' awesome pictures for a "crappy point and shoot"... :lol
As an attendee of the September 30th show at Kingsbury Hall, I'm split between Outcry and Breaking All Illusions... I could imagine BAI being an absolute treat, but at the same time, I'd LOVE to see Outcry... Ugh.
edit: And holy crap, LaBrie is sounding AMAZING this tour.
-
Awesome! Tonight setlist's an A- (PMU is not my favourite way to close a show but whatever)!
Judging from CS's pics the band seems in great shape and mood! :)
-
MUCH better set list!
I wish they would drop The Great Debate and rotate Outcry and LNF in that spot. That's my only real complaint in the set, never been a big fan of that song.
They must feel great that they have made an album where everyone wants to hear the whole thing live and not fans complaining for more old stuff.
Chris
-
Aside for the inclusion of BAI and the EXCLUSION of Forsaken, I like opening night's setlist MUCH BETTER. I'm NOT a fan of Wait For Sleep (LIVE anyway) and Far From Heaven to me is a complete borefest!
I'd like to see BAI stay in the set and replace TGD with Outcry. Leave BTS in the acoustic set but replace TSM with Take Away My Pain (this way CIAW could also stay in the set).
-
Hopefully DT realizes it's absolutely essential to play BAI every night.
-
Oh and also to the person sitting in row KK, seat 318... you smelled like shit. -________-
Now that's some funny shit (no pun intended)! :mehlin

Wow, he really does sound perfect. Props to JLB!! :metal

That setlist looks much better! :tup I like how they didn't play anything off my 3 least favorite albums! :lol
-
Hopefully DT realizes it's absolutely essential to play BAI every night.
Unfortunately it is at the expense of Outcry. Frankly, they BOTH need to be played.

That's why I theorized FFH/BAI as set closer and Outcry as encore. But that was before the shows, I'm not scared anymore. I know that their set will rock anyways. :tup

I see what ya did thar.

Caught In A Web instead of Forsaken? Wait For Sleep?? Pull Me Under as encore?! BAI??!!! :omg:
Pleeeease play this set in Chicago :hefdaddy
-
Man, that crowd pisses me off during BMU;BMD :lol They are just absolutely dead and not moving at ALL. They could at least tap their foot or nod their head!
Source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEQk0ir0VdI&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL
Edit: Actually looking at that persons vid of BITS they are dead their too ._. That has to suck for DT seeing the fans in the pit essentially lifeless while they're rocking their/your ass off.
-
...and Far From Heaven to me is a complete borefest!...
I think it's ok but yeah, it's the one and only song on the album I find myself skipping repeatedly. I like TITL (which to me is kind of borderline ballad anyway) and BTS much better.
-
Hopefully DT realizes it's absolutely essential to play BAI every night.
Unfortunately it is at the expense of Outcry. Frankly, they BOTH need to be played.
Couldn't agree more. In fact, they could play the whole album and fill in the time with rotating songs from older stuff. The new album is so strong it would be awesome. I know I am in the minority here, but the exclusion of Black Clouds really sucks. The epic nature of a lot of songs on that album makes it hard to work in, but at least give us something. That album carried momentum in their rise to greater popularity. Outcry and BAI in one set as staple songs would kick ass and I hope by the time they hit Toronto it is a reality. Impossible to please everyone with their diverse collection and fans, and at the end of the day I am just happy to see them.

i promisre you next year in germany that will be totally different :metal :metal :metal :metal
-
Caught In A Web instead of Forsaken? Wait For Sleep?? Pull Me Under as encore?! BAI??!!! :omg:

After seeing the first 2 sets, this is how I'd put together the setlist:
1. Bridges In The Sky
2. Under A Glass Moon
3. These Walls
4. Build Me Up, Break Me Down OR Lost Not Forgotten (Rotate)
5. Endless Sacrifice
*NO DRUM SOLO*
6. Forsaken OR Wither (rotate)
7. YTSE JAM
8. Take Away My Pain OR The Silent Man (rotate)
9. Beneath The Surface
10. On The Backs of Angels
11. Peruvian Skies OR Caught In A Web (rotate)
12. Through My Words
13. Fatal Tragedy
14. Breaking All Illusions
encore:
15. Outcry

Not sure what song you saw but if was during BMUBMD then maybe we just overall don't dig that song and realize we can create change by our actions and maybe get the band to replace that tune with a much better one, unlike in Germany where you blindly follow anything.
-

After seeing the first 2 sets, your set list makes no sense.
-
OK, so if there is a third set that means I might not get to see Outcry, BAI, or BTS, which means I will be forced to immediately charge the stage and well, sorry guys, the tour will end in Vancouver.
-
I was in the pit with my gf, sixth row, dead center (311, 312). It was awesome. Labrie waved/pointed at either me or my gf during BITS. The setlist was great. I wish we still had "An Evening With" though. Aside from that the only minor gripe...as close as we were the acoustics were shit so it was hard to actually hear the individual instruments. Otherwise... :hefdaddy :metal.
-
Fuckin' awesome pictures for a "crappy point and shoot"... :lol
indeed! great pictures, and a great post. glad to hear you enjoyed the night - pretty much making me hover over that buy button to see DT at Wembley in February!

Watching this...tears of joy...
-
can't wait for a better angle video of BAI, one with JP in it!
And seriously that crowd is LAME! :tdwn
-
Very happy to see BAI added! Hope they will keep Outcry as well though, I am not very happy we have to choose between 2
-
And seriously that crowd is LAME! :tdwn
Lol, I don't know what's up with that side. The crowd I was in, 6th row/center pit, was very lively.
-
Breaking All Illusions:

OK, now I'm gonna fucking rage!!!
Damn I wish they had played that, that was just killer. Not taking anything away from Outcry, I just like BAI more.

just a joke , nothing personal, but after seeing the video of BAI from the left front of the stage the public seemed a little lifeless.
if somebody feels personaly injured, i take everything back. amazing crowd! :mehlin
-
Oh and also to the person sitting in row KK, seat 318... you smelled like shit. -________-
Now that's some funny shit (no pun intended)! :mehlin
Dude, seriously fuck that guy. He showed up smelling like shit, then got drunk and wouldn't shut the fuck up. During Far From Heaven he kept yelling "Play Hollow Years!!" (he was in the row behind me) so I turned around and yelled "How about they play shut the fuck up", and he finally shut up for the rest of the show. :lol

actually i like BMUBMD, but the video i saw was BAI, anyone who don't dig that one?
-
Now, that's a huge setlist variation.
lol Mike Portnoy
-
I still wished they played Pull Me Under AND THEN BAI as the encore. It would have been even more epic to end the show on an epic note. Anyone else with me?

meh, I was just happy to see them live. They've been my favorite band since '92 and this was the first time I've been able to see them in concert.
-
so I turned around and yelled "How about they play shut the fuck up", and he finally shut up for the rest of the show. :lol
LOOL, nice one
BTW, BAI sounded AMAZING on that vid even with mediocre sound quality.. I think I'm gonna cry if they play BAI next weekend lol :hefdaddy

They were probably just paralyzed by the pure awesomeness of DT playing BAI ---> :omg:
-
that's a north american crowd for you.
-
I'm feeling sorry for Dream Theater having to play for such a passive crowd :tdwn Maybe it was better outside the camera-angle. European crowds seem to be much better, though.
Got chills all over me when I saw the BAI-clip. I'm just hoping they include it on every setlist :)

For instance:

Dammit, I made a new post when I was going to edit the previous. Sorry. Anyway I can delete this one ?

Holy Shit. I don't think I'll ever be able to say Mike Mangini and not come out with Squiddly Diddly instead.
I really hope we get some great quality video from some of the other concerts!

Thats the most stupid excuse I've ever heard for not cheering. What other thing can you do, than cheering? The fact that you stand still doesn't mean you can change anything or anything about what DT wants to play, you just look boring with little energy. Wow, you should support your band while you're there. You don't get to see them every night you know.
Greetings from Norway where we cheer when bands play(especially my favourite band ;)

A great performance, and a little speech at the beginning. James, if you ever read this, last night's set list was incredible, I don't think anyone will complain ever again. ;D

Awesome!!! Glad that you caught that comment.... I was laughing my ass off, seems like our thread just might have been read from the Warfield :lol :lol :lol
OK..... so a lil against my better judgement I'll post my crappy version of BAI. Yeah... I'm using a lil flip vid so it's pretty crappy. That being said, it has some OK segments, especially JP's solo. So don't hate too much :lol I missed a bit of the intro because I was busy having a coronary being so overjoyed that they were playing it , but the rest is there. OH...dont forget to catch the "Mother Fucker" guy behind me..... :lol

I think either setlist would do IF AND ONLY IF BAI is in the rotation. I mean, there are songs that we are all fond of and not, but BAI has to be there or else :tdwn for me. :)

Uploading OTBOA's now...should be up in a few hours, ha!

Okay, after watching that CIAW vid, I've pretty much decided that the next person I hear bitching about JLB's voice live is going to get punched in the mouth. The guy is fucking fantastic, especially for his age, and he was actually even slipping up to the next note in the chord at the end of some of those phrases. Seriously, people need to stfu about him and recognize. Disussions about "who would replace him" or "who would fit better" seem absolutely ridiculous to me after seeing these recent clips and hearing his performance on ADTOE. James is the fucking MAN. This is what makes DT so brilliant: there is no weak link.

that, i actually say that since 4 years
-
I think JLB criticism has gone down a notch in the later years. I mean, the guy's gotten plenty of bad words and criticism for his live performances, but lately it seems that got lower. Probably because DT fans' hate radars went straight to MP :lol

True, but there was still was some substantial 'counter-hate' from people who were MP-loyalists. Regardless, criticism of JLB's live and studio performances over the last few years have gone down substantially.
-
Luckily, we see less of those MP-loyalists everyday.

And I keep telling it eversince I started listening DT back in 92. Never really got all the hate James is receiving. And I am very pleased with his voice on the album. Can't wait to see them in 2 days!

Honestly I do believe the last album where he truly loved JLB's vocal performance was Awake..... but then again he (and I too) both love everything about awake... soo.... yea
-
Those links to the LA shows don't do the crowd any justice. You can't even see the center of the crowd, only the far away corner. There were plenty of people rocking it to every song with unyielding energy. I did not relent the whole show, was front and center giving JP and JLB plenty to feed off.

Dude I was right in front of you. My girlfriend and I were sitting in the two seats to the left of the light and sound boards. haha.

Looks like a pretty solid batch of songs to choose from, even if they don't mix it up. I'm hoping they break out Peruvian Skies at the Atlanta show, and I'd really love to see TITL live, but I don't know where it would fit. Plus, an acoustic version of Wither would be pretty cool. As much as I did PMU, I hope that's not the encore song, as I've seen them do it twice (On the Gigantour encore with Metropolis, and during their run with IM in 2010). I'd love for LTL to be the encore song, but I suspect they'll only rotate between UAGM and PMU since LTL is more of an epic, while the other two are relatively shorter.

Sorry if this seems late, but my experience at the L.A. show was weird. I usually attend shows in Phoenix, but since I thought they wouldn’t show, I decided to take my chances in L.A.
The band performed wonderfully and it definitely made me smile. As for the crowd … I was in the 5th row on the left section of the pit. Everyone was pretty much dead, and / or sitting down and looking at the ground. Someone around us started smoking weed as the lights went out.
There were these people in front of me who talked (loudly) during Wait for Sleep, so that kinda ruined the song for me. There were also a lot of people text messaging or not paying attention (especially during the newer songs) and would only rock out to certain songs. Some girl next to us was club dancing the whole time. My girlfriend and I assumed she didn’t know what was going on because she continued to dance like that during Mangini’s solo. As long as you are having fun, right? lol…
I think there were about 3-4 people in the whole section (including me) rocking out the whole time.

I was at the show too.. and I'm just gonna tell you.. people from LA are fucking stupid. I mean, I'm from Burbank, and the people here are stupid, but the people who live in LA think they have some sort of lifestyle to live up to. It's pretty pathetic. LA fucking sucks.
-
My rocking made up for a lot of the wankers.
-
My little group was rocking out 90% of the time... (Nothing is better than a 5 man head bang during Pull Me Under with 4 of your closest buds)
And I was singing... everything... I am the type of guy people hate to be around when taking vids...
But yea most of the crowd were very tame. I don't get how someone can go see DREAM MOTHERFUCKING THEATER and be all :|
-
Went to this show, didn't have any cash for a shirt. Going to the Anaheim show tomorrow - anyone know how much the shirts are?
-
mine was like 40 for a xxl
-
35 for normal sizes... 40 for fat people like me
-
35 for normal sizes... 40 for fat people like me
haha. I think 35 is a bit pricy.. I'll probably do it anyway though..
It's not as bad as Van Halen's last tour.. $45!
..crooks..
:lol
-
Well Petrucci needs the funds to transport small live mammals to eat during the tour
-
Well if that's the case then I'll gladly fork over the 35 bucks.
Money well spent.
